Abigail Reagan has become accustomed to the questions and even the looks that she receives whenever those wanting to see Commissioner Reagan at One PP and they see Abigail Reagan nameplate on her desk. Long time acquaintances like former Solicitor General Kelly Preston had her hopes crushed with such a visit
Kelly Preston: Hello Abigail….. Is there a chance I can see Frank ….. I just got back into town and wanted to see if Frank was available… you know what I mean
Abigail: I know exactly what you mean…. Let me ask if he can see you
Kelly Preston notices Abigail's name plate: Abigail…. What has changed since the last time I was here… Your last name is now Reagan…. Did you marry one of Frank's son's?
Abigail: Frank's sons are happily married…. Jamie is with Eddie….. they now have Triplets and Danny married Maria is long time partner and they have a beautiful little girl Danni
Abigail goes into Frank's office: You have Kelly Preston wanting to see you… She gives him that look : Let's see how you handle this
Frank: Let her in
Kelly Preston: Frank… it's been a while…. How have you been… I was in town and wanted to see if we could get together….. even though we were at odds sometimes ….. we were pretty good together… if you remember
Frank: What brings you back to town
Kelly Preston: The Mayor's office needed some clarification on a policy I had implemented …. Are you still at odds with him
Frank: We have our moments…. Some good…. And those not so good
Kelly Preston: Are you free for dinner….. I miss our private moments
Frank: those private moments are now reserved for the new Mrs Reagan
Kelly Preston: Frank… when did this happen and with who…The light shines in her mind… Is your secretary your wife now….. I feel so embarrassed
Frank: Don't be… Abbey knows my past better than I do….Now I understand why she gave me that look of hers
Kelly Preston: I need to apologize to her for overstepping my limits… I feel like such an ass … can you call her in
Frank: Abbey… can you come in…. Kelly needs to talk to you
Kelly Preston: Abigail… I'm deeply sorry … I just assumed and as they say if you assume you can make an ass out of yourself
Abigail: no offense taken… our marriage is still new and we are both learning to navigate what it brings us.
Kelly Preston: Congratulations…. I never thought anyone would get Frank Reagan to say I do…. I wish you both well….. If you will excuse me I need to make other dinner arrangements
After Kelly Preston leaves Abigail and Frank have their conversation
Abigail: I was wondering how you were going to handle that…
Frank: Did I pass ….. You gave that look and I knew you weren't happy … what did she say
Abigail: I have to ask … did Mary Margaret have to contend with your Kelly's back then or did your Casanova days only appear after she passed
Frank: Casanova …. Where did that come from
Abigail: Amy was right …. You turned into a player after Mary Margaret… Look at the women that I know about
Frank: Me… a player… is that what you Reagan women now talk about when you're together
Abigail: That and other things… you did good though, Miss Preston will spread the word that your Player days are over … I better get to my desk before something else happens
Abigail receives a call from her son Andrew
Andrew: Mom …. I don't know if I should be calling about this…. Grandpa Henry was acting strange today when we got home
Abigail: What do you mean strange…. Tell me what happened
Andrew: normally….. when we come home he always asks how our day was and what we did, but today he acted as though he didn't see us…. When I went up to him he didn't recognize me
Abigail: Andrew bring the phone to Henry….. let me talk to him
Andrew: Grandpa Henry…. Mom wants to talk to you
Abigail: Pop….. something happen today that we should know about
Henry: Nothing happened… I'm fine… my cataract must be acting up again.
Abigail: What happened… you can tell me
Henry: It's nothing….. if been getting these blind spots every once and while… today it happened as the boys came in… I'm alright don't you worry about me… I'll go make the boys their afternoon snack before you two get home
Abigail: so it's happened before… why didn't you tell us
Henry: It's nothing….. you and Francis have enough to worry about
After she hangs up with Henry Abigail begins to do some research on the internet…. She finds the following

Abigail goes into Franks office
Abigail: Andrew just called me… Henry was acting a little strange when the boys came home from school
Frank: what happened… he has become real fond of them
Abigail: when I talked to him he tried to say that his cataract was acting up and nothing to worry about… he also told me that this has happened before…. Frank….. temporary blindness is not normal… so I did some research….. we need to bring him in to get him checked out before something terrible happens to him
Frank: What are you telling me
Abigail: This article I fond is very alarming…. You read it and see what you think
As Frank continues to read he has the same feelings as Abigail…. I'll call Pop's long time doctor and see what he tells me
Abigail: I'm going home now so that I can see for myself what the situation is …. I'll see you at home
Frank calls Doctor Chester Brown
Frank: Chester….. this is Frank Reagan…. I need to ask you about my dad…. Has he ever talked to you about loosing his vision
Dr Brown: Frank… Henry has never been one to raise alarm flags especially about himself…. For him to have lived as long as he has… who am I to question him…. Other than his knees he's been in remarkable health… tell me what is happening to him
Frank: Today… Abbey's sons noticed that he didn't recognize them…. When Abbey talked to him she found out that this has happened before….. but he simply shrugged it off to cataract….What can cause him to loose his vision all of a sudden
Dr Brown: I'm a GP and this is not my field, but I know enough that he may need to see a neurologist …. Temporary loss of vision is a sign of a pending stroke… the blindness is mini strokes … He needs to be checked out immediately before he has a major stroke and at his age that would be fatal. Let me call a friend of mine Dr Steven Rudolph who specializing in that area. I'll have my office make a call to get him in as soon as possible… by the way have you followed up on that BHP problem of yours…. Don't be like your dad and take that to likely…. You can't afford to let your prostate get any bigger than it is
Frank: Let's take care of my dad first and then worry about me
Dr Brown: you're just like your dad…. My office will call your office with the details….. don't let him shrugged this off … this is serious.
Frank: Thank you and he won't
Frank returns home gives Abigail a kiss and then goes to his father
Frank: Pop ….. what's been happening with you….. and don't tell me it's nothing… these two boys noticed that it was something and they called their mother
Henry: Francis… I don't know how to explain it…. I'm just sitting there and at first one eye becomes blurry… I think I've strained from reading so much… then for a few minutes the room goes black… then everything goes back to normal
Frank: Pop …. Why didn't you say anything
Abigail comes into the room
Abigail: dinner will be ready shortly…. Can I join the conversation
Henry: Are you going to gang up on me like your husband….. I'm Ok… really
Abigail: Pop….. your wisdom and understanding gave me the courage to enter this family and now that I'm here ….. I want to keep you around… what happened today scared all of us…. So we will all do our parts
Frank: I talked to Dr Brown and he recommended that we go get you checked out with a specialist… he's making you an appointment with a Dr Steven Rudolph ….. so you're going... no if and or buts….. but from here on out anything out of the ordinary you have to tell us
Abigail: Let's go have some dinner….. I know the boys are ready to eat
When Frank and Abigail get ready for bed they have their own conversation about todays events
Abigail: I've been thinking ever since Andrew called me and I read that article… I think we should get your Dad a companion you know those "Visiting Angels" during the day that can monitor him so that we can have a faster response time….. Pop has shown that he will shrug it off and not tell us.
Frank: He has liked his privacy…. But having someone that he is comfortable with maybe a good thing
Abigail: I called and set up some interviews….. you want to be part of it or do you want me to handle it
Frank : you know more about it … do what you think is best
Abigail: Can you handle the office without me… I'm going to spend a few days at home getting to know his routine and doing interviews
At the morning briefing Garrett and Sid both wonder why Abigail isn't there
Garrett: Abigail isn't here….. could it be morning sickness….. You didn't get her pregnant all ready did you
Frank: Really…do you spend your nights thinking of these things… Abbey is at home setting up interviews for a companion for Pop…. He's having some problems so we're doing things to help alleviate them
Sid: Nothing serious….. I hope
Frank: we are soon going to find out… but in the meantime this office still needs to run…. What do we have going on
Garrett: Do you need me to get a temporary so you don't have to answer the phones
Frank: Now that's helpful…. Set her up for the rest of the week…. Abbey and I will be in and out until we get Pop's condition resolved
Abigail begins her interviewing with the established criteria that she and Henry worked out. After several interviews a charming woman by the name of Betty White was sent and hired to be Henry's Visiting Angel.
After Dr Steven Rudolph examined Henry he gave his prognosis to Frank and Abigail. Due to Henry's age he recommended that Henry live his remaining days in a calm peaceful environment. Betty provided such a calmness to Henry. Each day she allowed Henry to relive his happier days and talk about how blessed his life has been. The patriarch of the Reagan Family dynasty had no regrets. He lived along and full life and was ready to return to his beloved wife who had passed so many years ago.
As Betty was preparing and afternoon snack Henry closed his eyes as he sat in his favorite chair and allowed his spirit to leave his body. As a Visiting Angel Betty took solace in that Henry had a peaceful death and not one ravaged by illnesses that only allowed pain and suffering. She calls Abigail
Betty: Abbey… this is always the hardest phone call to make….. you and Frank need to come home… Henry has left us Abigail with tears in her eyes : We'll be right there
Abigail walks into Franks office and goes to him as her tears tell Frank that this is not good news.
Abigail sobbing: I'm so sorry sweetheart….. Betty just called …. We need to get home
Frank's eyes fill with tears knowing that this is the day he has dreaded to come: Abbey call Sid to call the boys and Erin
The Reagan phones begin to ring as each receive word that their beloved grandfather is no more. They each gather their respective families and gather at the Reagan house to see their grandfather for the last time.
Henry had planned for this day many years ago since he never thought he would have lived this long. His conversations with Betty had been that if he were to pass while she was with him she was to call the Funeral home he had made arrangements with…. He also asked that she give Frank and Abbey the video tape that he and she made so that he could give his final goodbyes to a family that he was so proud of.
That night Frank tells the family that Henry didn't leave without saying goodbye as they all gather in the family room Andrew turns on the video tape with a smiling Henry on the screen
Henry: My beloved family….. if you are watching this then I can safely say… I'm no longer with you…. So I don't want any of you to be sad….. but be happy…. I've lived a full and rewarding life and have had the privilege of starting a family that anyone would be proud of.
Francis….. you are now the head of the Reagan Family…. What you have achieved both in career and family far exceeds what I started with… I love you son even though I never said it enough
Abbey…. These last few months of knowing you and your sons has calmed my soul in knowing that Francis has you to love and be his partner in his latter years
Danny… you're a cop's cop…but you've been given a second chance at love and what's really important… Maria and little Danni is a god send to you learn to enjoy them both….. you raised Jack and Sean to be the strong Reagan Men that will continue to make our family proud
Erin…..you've held your own amongst us Reagan Men…. You can do whatever you set your mind too…. You're going to be a hell've a DA, but don't stop there Mayor and Governor is yours for the taking… your family will always have your back
Jamie….. you and Eddie never ceased to amaze me…. You have that drive and natural ability to be the leader that you are…. You no longer have to worry about me…. I'm in a safe place and whenever you're troubled talk to me … I'll give you the best advise that I can
Joe: now that you've found your roots…. Stop taking those reckless chances… Amy doesn't deserve being left by herself…. Start your own family
Nikki: I wish I could've stayed to get to see my great great grandchild…. Just know that I will comfort he or she until it's born
Jack: You've gotten a second chance with Erin and Nikki….. don't screw it up they are the best that's ever happened to you
To the Reagan Women ….. you know what I expect all of you to do to the Reagan Men... love them tonight like you've never loved them before…. That will be a send off like no other… I love all of you and I'm so thankful that you made my life what it was.
Frank: That's Pop …. He did it his way …. We should all be so lucky
Henry's final farewell became an event at the Cathedral whereby it was filled with spectators to hear the eulogy from Archbishop Kearns , Commissioner Frank Reagan and and the Reagan Family members. The biggest tribute was from the police officers themselves as the streets were lined with police cars to give the First Reagan Police Commissioner is just dues for being the cop that he was.
Politicians and the news media also took notice of the respect that the Reagan Family was receiving from the police officers and those that knew and those that didn't know the Reagans. The Reagan Moto of To serve and to protect was well appreciated by those that were it's recipient.
The long procession of cars that stretch for miles through the streets of New York was a fitting tribute to the man that started the Reagan Family Legacy…..
