And now we get to my favorite pairings involving the younger Loud sisters. Even though the canon doesn't seem to want to do anything with them, there's still some good stuff that we the fans can come up with for them.

Rocky x Lucy: Nightfall

It was in the evening at Lake St. Clair. The beautiful body of freshwater that separated the American state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario was known to be a popular place for outdoor recreation especially in the summer. People would come here for various summer activities such as swimming, fishing, boating and camping. All along the perimeter of the lake were numerous beaches and campgrounds. And at one of these locations was a young couple who had come to enjoy an overnight trip at the lake.

Lucy Loud and Rocky Spokes were an unlikely pair to say the least. Yet ever since they were kids, there had been a strong connection between them. Rocky at first seemed like he wouldn't be Lucy's type and vice versa. But it turned out he had a rather quiet demeanor that kind of matched her deadpan and stoic personality and he gained a particular interest in gothic stuff so the two managed to click.

Their relationship started as having crushes on each other in a puppy love kind of way and eventually evolved to the point where they officially started dating. After that, they were pretty happy during their years together. Their families and friends were happy for them, particularly their older brothers Lincoln and Rusty. Rocky even became acquainted with Lucy's goth friends, Haiku, Silas and the members of the Morticians Club. Though he wouldn't turn goth completely, he still appreciated their culture enough that he'd sometimes attend the club's gatherings and they made him an honorary member.

The couple had recently graduated college and wanted to take an outdoor camping trip at a lake to celebrate. But rather than stay at a public campground, they preferred to be at a nice quiet area where they were isolated from civilization. They really wanted this romantic getaway to be just the two of them.

Rocky had taken it upon himself to get him and his girlfriend the trip they wanted. He searched the coast of Lake St. Clair and found a hidden spot below a cliff away from the campgrounds. He knew it would suit them just fine. He brought Lucy there when they left for the trip to surprise her and she loved it. It was the perfect place for her. They'd surely have a good time alone together on this outdoor overnight trip.

However, there was something else Rocky had planned to do that Lucy didn't know about yet. Something he wanted to do for a while now and decided it was the right time to do it. It was something he was sure Lucy would love and it would help make their night one they'd never forget.

Rocky and Lucy sat on a picnic blanket and stared out at the lake in a peaceful silence. They two had just had a picnic while watching the sunset over the lake. Now the remaining view of the sun was disappearing behind the horizon. It would be dark very soon and they were looking forward to that the most during their trip.

Soon the sun had gone completely and the silence was broken when Lucy spoke up. "Nightfall is upon us. Our romantic swimming session will begin shortly."

Rocky smiled. "I'm excited to swim at night with you. It'll be a relaxing experience."

Lucy returned the smile. "It's more than that. It's an experience of absolute tranquility and spirituality." She took his hand while still talking. "And to do it with the one you love makes it all the more blissful."

Rocky was touched by her words. Despite how Lucy spoke in the same deadpan tone she always had, he could tell she was still speaking her words meaningfully when she talked to him.

They stood up and cleaned up the remains of their picnic. Then Lucy took her swimwear out of her bag that was among their camping gear.

"I'm going to change now," she said.

"Okay, I'll do it when you're done," Rocky replied.

Lucy walked behind Rocky's truck that they'd driven there in so he couldn't see her and began removing her clothes. While she changed, Rocky glanced over to his bag among their stuff and became lost in thought. He remembered that there was something inside it that was essential for the thing he had planned. He knew that what he planned was no easy accomplishment, but he kept himself confident that he could accomplish it.

"Your turn, sweetie," he heard Lucy say. He saw her step out from behind the truck wearing a black bikini and blushed immensely at the sight. She looked drop-dead gorgeous to him with her sexy swimwear, her flawless pale skin showing, and her beautiful long dark hair hanging down. She smiled at his reaction to seeing her as he got his own swimwear and went behind the truck to change himself. He nearly stumbled and fell because he was too focused on her which made her chuckle. As he changed, Lucy set up a portable boombox with a CD player and inserted a disc containing a playlist she put together with help from her sister Luna.

Rocky soon came back out in a pair of dark-green swim trunks. He found Lucy down by the water staring up at the sky. All the daylight had officially gone and the moon and stars were out. Rocky walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. Lucy smiled and leaned her head back against him. He kissed her bare shoulder and she gave a small chuckle. They looked up at the star-covered sky and the full moon shining down on the calm water.

"This is just the right night for this," Rocky said proudly.

"Yeah," Lucy replied. "Darkness isn't always gloomy. Sometimes it can be something beautiful."

"Beautiful like you," Rocky complimented sweetly.

Lucy blushed hard. She turned around to face her boyfriend and placed her hands on his shoulders. "Thank you so much for this, Rocky Bear."

"Anything for you, Luce."

They shared a loving kiss. After a moment, Lucy turned on the boombox and the CD started playing. With an assuring smile, Rocky held out his hand to her. Lucy smiled back and took it. The couple walked into the shallow water until it reached their waists and proceeded to move around in a synchronized swimming sort of way.

The boombox played a collection of songs that helped set the mood right. It started with "Nightswimming" by R.E.M. then went into a playlist of gothic-like love songs that Lucy and Rocky had grown fond of such as "You and Me" by Alice Cooper, "The Last Beat of My Heart" by Siouxsie and the Banshees, "Lovesong" by The Cure, "Warmness on the Soul" by Avenged Sevenfold, "My Immortal" by Evanescence, and "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie.

Throughout the whole playlist, the duo moved aesthetically in the water. They calmly swam and waded around to the rhythm of the music. The stillness of the lake, the moonlight on the water, the night sky above, and the hauntingly beautiful songs that played gave them an atmosphere of absolute tranquility that they enjoyed every second of. It helped that they were far from anyone else to be seen or heard and that they were truly alone together.

The lovebirds first moved separate from each other, then close together. They joined hands while swimming around. Then Rocky lifted Lucy up and gently spun her around on the water's surface. Lucy was in total bliss from being held by her loving boyfriend like that. Soon she stood back up and pulled him close. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he had his hands on her hips. They started swaying to the music like they were slow dancing. They stared deeply at each other and thought about how attractive they both thought the other was. They closed the gap between them and kissed again tenderly. Then they smiled and nuzzled each other while still swaying.

They remained that way for a good long moment just feeling content. Then Lucy had something to say.

"Rocky, I love you so much," she said quietly but passionately. "You possess my heart like no other. And I possess yours."

Rocky was not at all disturbed by her words. Instead, he was totally moved by them. "Oh, Luce..." he replied in the same manner as her. "You're the only girl I've ever loved."

Lucy smiled and gave him another kiss. She then rested her head on his shoulder. He held her close and stroked her hair and back. They continued to sway to the remainder of their playlist until it ended. They left the water and dried off. Then they prepared their sleeping situation. They laid out a big mattress pad and rolled out a double sleeping bag on top. They only brought the one bag to share so they could cuddle and sleep under the stars. The romantic setting put them in just the right mood for it.

"Are you ready, my love?" Lucy asked. Her voice still sounded emotionless, but there was a bit of a loving tone in it. And as much as Rocky wanted to get down to it as much as her, there was still the thing he had planned to carry out first. And the swimming session he had just shared with his beloved goth girlfriend had boosted his confidence to get it done.

"Not yet. There's just a little something that... needs doing is all," he responded a little nervously.

Lucy grew curious. "And what would that be?"

"Just stay right there."

Rocky went over to his bag while Lucy stood where she was between the water and their campsite. She watched him rummage through his stuff looking for something. He blocked her view of the bag so she couldn't see what it was. Rocky found what he needed and took it out. He also placed his phone on top of the bag in a camera position and started recording. Then he walked back over to Lucy with his hands behind his back.

"Well Lucy," he said while smiling and blushing. "I'm so glad I could find this place for us. Not only is this trip our idea of a romantic getaway and how we're celebrating being out of college, but I think it also commemorates how far we've come in our relationship."

Lucy smiled and blushed as well. "I agree with every word you say. But what exactly are you getting at?"

"Lucy... you're the most amazing, most beautiful girl I've ever known. Having you as my girlfriend has made me happier than I've ever been in my life... And I know having me as your boyfriend has made you feel the same."

Lucy was deeply touched by his sincere words. She didn't quite know how to respond so she let him keep talking. He took her hand as he continued.

"There's no one else we'd rather be with. We're meant for each other and I believe now is the right time for us to make the decision of taking the next step in our relationship and guaranteeing that we'll be together forever."

Before Lucy could find something to say, Rocky got down on one knee and took his other hand from behind his back. It was a small black box. He opened it and revealed a sterling silver ring with a black gemstone embedded in it.

"Lucy Loud... will you marry me?"

Lucy gasped. Despite how her eyes were hidden behind her bangs, Rocky could still tell she was stunned. After a brief moment of silence, Lucy managed to regain control of herself. She slowly formed an emotional smile and tears began to stream down her face from behind her hair.

"Yes..." she whispered meaningfully before speaking louder. Again, her voice was deadpanned, but there was still a huge amount of emotion coming from it. "Yes. Yes, I will! I will marry you, Rocky Spokes!"

Rocky's heart soared. He placed the ring on her finger and stood back up. The loving couple shared a passionate kiss under the moonlight.

"I love you so much, Rocky Bear."

"I love you too, Luce."

They held one another for a moment and Rocky wiped her tears. Then he went back over to his phone and stopped it from recording.

"What was the recording for?" Lucy asked.

"Your dad gave me his blessing to ask for your hand in marriage on the condition that I get it on camera for him," Rocky chuckled as he explained.

Lucy chuckled too. "That's my dad for you." She looked at her engagement ring. It was a real piece of gothic jewelry. "This is perfect."

"I knew it was the second I saw it," Rocky said. He put his phone away and gave her a smirk. "Now, where were we?"

Lucy smirked back and started rubbing his arms affectionately. "Are you ready now, my handsome ginger?"

"Let's do this, my beautiful dark queen."

The newly engaged couple threw their arms around one another and started making out intensely. Their bodies pressed against each other and they caressed them soothingly.

They slowly moved them back towards the sleeping bag while they kissed. The lovers fell and landed on it comfortably, still kissing, with Rocky on top of Lucy. He moved his lips to her cheek and down to her neck earning some more light moans from her. They were still far away enough from any other people so they wouldn't be heard.

Lucy was in total bliss from what her fiancée was doing to her. She sighed in pleasure and ran her hands through his red hair. Then she took his face in her hands and held it up to hers.

"Sigh... Oh, Rocky Bear..." she breathed heavily. "Only you can make me feel this... alive. I wish to do the same to you. Will you let me get on top?"

Rocky smiled and nuzzled her. "As you wish, m'lady." With his arms still firmly holding her, he rolled the both of them over on the sleeping bag so he was on the bottom. She bent down to kiss him some more.

"Oh, Luce..." he panted. "You're so amazing..."

Lucy smiled and kept kissing him. The sensation was overwhelming between them. Both had never felt so good and were motivated to keep showing their love until they were completely satisfied.

Soon, Lucy started to get worn down. "Rocky…" she panted. "I'm growing tired but… I don't want to stop…"

"Then let me take over," he responded assuringly. "You deserve to relax."

He secured his arms around her yet again and turned them back over. He was on top and was kissing and caressing her again. Lucy gripped his shoulders and felt more relaxed now that he was in control.

Rocky nibbled on her neck which got a small chuckle out of her. Lucy held him tightly and just took in the love he was giving her. She held up her hand with the engagement ring on it in front of her face and stared at it. She just couldn't wait to spend her life with this boy.

Rocky kept on going until he started feeling tired as well. So he stopped and the two rested on the sleeping bag to catch their breath and looked up at the stars for a good long while. Lucy snuggled up on her future husband's shoulder and stroked his chest.

"I feel so peaceful when I'm with you," she said quietly. "You shine so much light on my black heart."

Rocky smiled and held her close. "You make me feel good too, babe. And I promise I'll make you happy throughout our whole lives together."

They kissed again before getting up to change out of their swimwear and put on some sleeping clothes. Rocky put on a pair of blue sweatpants. Lucy put on a gray bra and underwear. They got back into the sleeping bag and closed it up over them. They cuddled close together and continued watching the night sky.

"We may be one with the dark, but our future together looks bright," Lucy said sweetly.

"It sure does," Rocky replied softly. "I love you, Lucy."

"I love you too, Rocky."

They shared one more kiss and Lucy rested her head on his chest. Rocky stroked his future wife's hair until she fell asleep. He joined her in slumberland shortly after. The night had fallen on the current chapter of their life together so a new one can begin.

Since some of the couples I wrote so far were already married, I thought I'd do something a little different by having a couple get engaged during the story.
