Drabble 55: Kiss the Girl

A/N: For AOSISMYLIFE. I know it's long overdue, but I hope you like it.

Skye walked out of the fitness center slowly, taking a long drink from her water bottle. She'd just finished her daily training session, and she thought it was about time to relax with her laptop. After she got a snack, that is.

She walked into the kitchen and refilled the empty water bottle, also grabbing an apple from the fridge. Her hand froze when she reached for the apple though. Had she just seen what she thought she had?

She risked a quick glance over her shoulder and fought with all she had to hold in her squeal. Fitz and Simmons were kissing.

She looked in the fridge as a smile transformed her tired face into an excited one, unable to believe what she had seen. They hadn't even noticed her they were so locked against each other.

How rude was that?

She risked another glance behind her and saw them sitting next to each other at the smaller table, passionately embraced. Damn. She had the best timing ever!

She closed the fridge as silently as she could and started creeping out of the room, but stopped by the door. She had no idea if she'd ever catch them like this again, at least not before it came out that they were dating. And she assumed they would come out with it soon.

So she deftly slipped out her phone and took a picture, saving it and disappearing from sight in a moment. Oh, the things she could do with this information!

Jemma sat down next to Fitz at the kitchen table. "What should we do now?" she asked.

They had just finished their latest mountain of paperwork from Coulson. Fitz rubbed the bridge of his nose and raised his eyebrows. "Anything besides reports."

She smiled. "Definitely."

The last few days had been… different. She didn't know how to explain it, but there was some sort of tension between them. It wasn't a bad kind of tension, though. It was as if a wall had been cracked, and was just waiting to come crashing down. It was confusing because nothing that serious had happened recently.

Fortunately, the confusion stopped a moment later. Their eyes stayed locked and they slowly leaned towards each other. She tilted her head to the side and touched her lips to his, and an instant later she was actively kissing him. That tension that had been mounting released, and an explosion seemed to go off as she finally kissed him.

She became deaf to the world, blind to its every sight and sound as she moved into a state of blissful thoughtlessness.

And it was wonderful.

Skye made sure her phone was in her pocket (as if it would be anywhere else) and set off towards the lab. She was hoping she would find Fitz and Simmons alone in there. She had a leg up on them, and now was the time to play with her prey.

They were a family, weren't they? Siblings were meant to be mean to each other, as long as she made up for it in the end. Besides, she had no intention of being that cruel.

She got her wish and found the lab empty except for the two scientists. They weren't kissing, but they were talking.

"Hey guys." She said.

They jumped slightly and then smiled at her.

"What's up, Skye?" Simmons asked.

"Not much." Skye said, making a point to only meet Simmons's eyes briefly.

"Is everything alright?"

"I thought maybe we could talk." Skye said.

"I can, um, go… over there." Fitz said awkwardly, pointing to the far side of the room.

"No." Skye said. "I want to talk to both of you."

The scientists looked at each other for a second and then walked over to Skye.

"We don't keep any secrets from each other, right?"

"No." Simmons said. "I don't think so."

"You guys are the closest thing I've ever had to a family, and I need to know I can trust my family."

Simmons's cheeks pinked slightly and her eyes widened, though only for an instant. Skye only spotted it because she was watching for it; she knew exactly what signs to look for.

"Of course you can trust us. What's got you thinking you can't?" Fitz asked.

"Nothing!" Skye said quickly. "I just… needed to make sure. Thanks."

Then she walked out of the room, smirking. Fitz and Simmons were worried she knew something, but had no idea how much. Part one was complete.

Part two required more careful planning. And a stereo.

She made sure to find them in the middle of a task. She faked a yelp out in the hallway and forced Fitz to drop something glass, which promptly shattered. Then, once they were crouched on the floor and picking up the pieces, she made sure to stick her head in.

"Hey guys, I was just wondering- but you seem busy!"

The scientists had been very close to one another, their heads bent together as they worked to pick up the broken shards. When they heard Skye they whipped around.

She backed away. "I'll catch you later."

"Skye!" Simmons called after her. "There's nothing going on!"

Skye stood just outside the doorway, out of sight but close enough to listen.

"She must know." Fitz said with a sigh.

"But how?" Simmons asked. "We've only kissed a few times."

"It doesn't matter. Let's just get this cleaned up, and then we can go talk to her."

Once she heard this Skye walked to the kitchen, confident they would find her eventually. And they didn't disappoint.

Fitz and Simmons walked into the kitchen ten minutes later, thinking Skye must have gone in there. Sure enough they found her there.

They also found a small table set up behind her with a nice tablecloth, food-laden plates and silverware, and a long candle in the middle.

"I wanted to apologize for being so weird." Skye said. "I know I probably freaked you out a little bit."

Simmons shared a look with Fitz. Was Skye being serious?

"I just had one of my panic attacks. This is the longest I've been happy for a long time, and I guess I was worried it was just a lie."

"Oh, Skye." Simmons said, walking up to her.

"I'm good now." She said with a smile. "But I wanted to make it up to you, so I made you dinner. Enjoy."

Then she walked out.

"This is weird, right?" Fitz asked.

"Definitely." Simmons said. "But we wouldn't want to offend her by not participating."

"No." he said, grinning. "We couldn't do that."

He pulled out a chair for her and then sat down opposite her. They started eating and talking, and the time passed fairly quickly. The conversation had reached a natural pause when they heard the sound of something electronic coming to life.

"What could-?" Fitz started to ask.

Then they noticed a screen over by the fridge, one that someone had taken great lengths to set up by the looks of it.

"I think Skye has something planned for us." Simmons said.

They watched as a picture appeared.

"So she did see us." Simmons said with a smile.

The picture showed the two of them sitting at a small table in the kitchen, kissing. They looked at it until it faded a few seconds later, and a message appeared: enjoy the rest of your dinner.

They started eating their dinner again – spaghetti. When they both had their mouths full it started.

"There you see her. Sitting there across the way."

Simmons looked at Fitz, her eyes widening as it continued. She knew this song.

"Kiss the girl."

Well, she thought. Skye had gone to a lot of trouble to set this up for them, and the song was asking for it…

She looked into Fitz's eyes and saw the desire she felt mirrored in them.

They would talk to Skye later about her trickery. Right now she only wanted to thank her. This was a fairy tale moment she had only ever dreamed about, and now it was a reality.

And it was their best kiss yet.
