A/N:
Howdy! Skit here! This is my second fic in this fandom! But this is my first posted on . My main place for posting is archive but I thought I'd give this a shot here!. I was a little worried about writing and posting this cause I think the plot might seem weird to some. But! My first fic got so many nice comments on archive (and the plot of that one is also a little weird) I felt empowered and wrote this thing here. This idea is one I came up with on my own, so if you think this premise is similar to something else you've watched or read let me know! Enjoy!
Chapter 1
Akko sucked in a deep breath, feeling her body start to gear up in excitement. She's finally made it to the school of her dreams, Luna Nova. Time to start her path to becoming the next Shiny Chariot.
"Come on Akko, it's almost time for breakfast." Akko pokes her head out from under the bunk and looks at her new roommate standing by the mirror in their room.
"Yeah! First day on my path to becoming the greatest witch of all time!" Akko's roommate, Lotte, sent her a small encouraging smile. Akko glanced over at her other roommate, Sucy.
She was already wide awake and doing some sort of experiment on top of one of the desks in their room. Akko got out of bed to peer over the girl's shoulder. She could see various vials with weird looking liquid inside of them on the table, along with a few mushrooms.
"Er, whatcha up to?" Akko asks.
Sucy looks up at her with a particularly deadpan expression. An expression which suddenly morphs into a slightly sinister looking sharp toothed smile.
Whoa yeah, if I had doubts before then they're gone now. Sucy definitely has a Beast. Akko thought, leaning back ever so slightly in confusion and a little bit of apprehension.
"Hey, taste this for me." Sucy asks in a tone that sounds more like a demand.
"Uuhh what does it do?"
Sucy snickered, "Oh nothing much."
Akko chuckled nervously. "I'm going to have to pass. You coming to breakfast?"
Sucy grunted in response, gave a slight nod, and turned back to her experiment. Akko smiled and turned to go rapidly get ready. Once dressed, the three stepped out to go get some food before class.
Diana wakes up to the sounds of birds outside her window. She could hear them with stark clarity; the flap of their wings, the sound of their chatter. She slowly stretches, letting out a low rumbling yawn. Her claws scratching against her sheets dangerously.
She quickly lifts her hands off the sheets. Damn, my control over my Beast is absolutely dreadful in the morning. Diana rolls her eyes at herself and wills her Beast to calm. Slowly, the sounds of the birds quiet to a normal sounding chatter. Her claws retract themselves, leaving normal well-groomed nails behind.
Diana glances at the clock. One hour thirty till class. Enough time to get breakfast. Diana knows once the school year starts ramping up, she probably won't have time for breakfast, so she might as well indulge while she can.
Diana gets out of bed and moves to wake her still slumbering roommates. She looks down at them, both squished together in Barbara's bed. Diana has only known them for about six weeks now, but she still understands how extremely close they are to each other. She knows without a doubt, if one of them was born with a Beast, they would be a Beast/Tamer pair. But alas, they are indeed both human.
"Hannah, Barbara. Wake up." She lightly taps on both of their shoulders. She hears a grumble emitting from one of the girls.
"Huh wha?" Hannah asks, still half asleep.
"Would you two like to go get breakfast?"
Hannah blinks at her and then finally lets go of Barbara, who is slowly waking up herself, and sits up to stretch and yawn. And in doing so, the blanket covering her slips down. Diana blinks, then moves her eyes to the ceiling, a slight blush adorning her features.
It seems these two like to sleep wearing very little. Diana lets out a small cough, trying to subtly alert Hannah to the current state of things.
Hannah blinks up at Diana again, "Wha? Oh. OH." Hannah squeaks and brings the covers back up her and the slowly sitting up Barbara's bodies. "Whoa s-sorry about that. What did you say?"
"I was curious as to if you and Barbara wanted to get some breakfast. We have an hour thirty till class starts."
Barbara finally fully awake gives Diana a nod, "Yeah sure! We'll be ready in 30."
Diana nods in return, "Sounds excellent."
The blue team settles in at the table they chose, food in hand. Diana listens to the aimless conversations Hannah and Barbara bring up, chiming in occasionally, when she feels it. A small but noticeable pressure to, what she feels is, her very being.
This pressure is one she's felt before. She has felt it only once, during the meeting section of orientation. All the freshman students gathered in the largest auditorium Luna Nova has to offer. There, the Headmistress talked about the history of the school amongst other things.
Diana was listening carefully to her Headmistress' words when she felt the pressure. She looked up and around to see if anyone was casting any types of spells that could be causing the pressure she was feeling. She saw nothing of the sort, nor did she notice anyone looking like they were feeling something similar. She didn't know what the pressure was then, and she surely doesn't know now.
Her teammates notice her pause in eating.
"Everything okay? Is it the food?" Hannah asks. Barbara looks down critically at Diana's food, searching for anything suspicious looking.
"Ah no." Diana chuckles slightly, amused by Barbara's dutiful inspection of her food. "I'm just feeling a tad...weird?"
Hannah and Barbara let out twin noises of realization. Diana looks back at them, confused. "Oh, I see. Is this a, you know issue?" Barbara asks, giving Diana a pointed look with her eyebrows raised. If anything, Diana gets even more confused.
"Pardon?"
Hannah copies Barbara's look and says, "You know. Is this a", she lowers a voice to a whisper "Beast thing?"
Diana startles, "Oh! No! No girls. This isn't a Beast iss-." Diana suddenly pauses, getting lost in thought. "Well. Hmmm. I'm actually unsure if this is a Beast issue or not. Either way, at the moment, this isn't a very pressing issue. Everything is okay."
Hannah and Barbara make a noise of affirmation, "Alright, but you know you can talk to us if you need to?" Hannah asks with a small smile.
Barbara, nods in agreement. "Yeah! We might not have known each other long, but we're your teammates and we're here for you."
Diana looks back at them in slight shock, almost awe. She wasn't used to this at all. All through middle and high school, people either nervously avoided her because of her reputation as being a Cavendish and a Beast, or they tried to suck up to her for social standing. These two seem to just want to help her, not out of a need of popularity, but because they're her teammates and they care.
Diana breaks out into a gentle smile, "Thank you for your kind words. I, too, feel the same. You may also count on me."
Barbara and Hannah let out wide smiles and turns back to their food, bringing up idle conversation once more. Diana, now in a very good mood and forgetting about the odd pressure, also turns back to her food, listening to the conversations at hand.
Akko plops down in her seat, wearing a pleased grin. She was very satisfied with her selection of breakfast food. Lotte and Sucy sat down next to her. Akko starts rambling off about anything and everything, with Lotte following along and chiming in, and Sucy seemingly ignoring everyone.
"See that scene is exactly like Nightfall book 63 Chapter 52 when Edgar steals the sacred stone to thaw Belle's heart!" Lotte states dreamily.
Akko nods along, "Man that anime was AWESOME, it had action and dram..." Akko pauses, feeling something odd, and starts looking around.
"Akko? Are you okay?" Lotte worriedly asks. Sucy finally glances up from her meal and turns an eye to Akko.
Akko takes a second to answer. She's felt this before, a weird pressure type thing. It feels like...a pull maybe? Akko speculates. Either way the feeling wasn't large, but it was noticeable.
"Eh, yeah I'm fine. Just feeling a little funny all of a sudden."
Lotte gives Sucy some suspicious side eye. Sucy raises her hands up slightly, "Wasn't me. Yet."
"Yeah no, I've felt this befo- wait, nani? What do you mean 'yet'?"
Sucy only smirks and chuckles in response.
"Ah well, Watashi wa genki. I'm alright! Probably just nerves. Anyway, what do your schedules look like?"
Lotte hummed and patted Akko's shoulder. "Okay if you're sure. But let us know if you start feeling funny again. Uhmm, I've got our required freshman course at 8, then Inanimate Object Sprit Summoning at 9:30. Familiars I at 10:30 and Living Spirt Summoning at 1. And I chose the 2:30 time for College Algebra and Trig."
Akko nodded, "Heh, I tested out of Algebra and Trig. So, I'm math free this entire year. But hey! I'm also taking Familiars I at 10:30, you guys want to get lunch after that class?"
As Lotte nodded in agreement, Sucy looked up and noticed the cafeteria looking a little scarce. She glanced at a large clock adorning one of the walls of the cafeteria.
7:54.
"Hey. Class starts soon."
Akko and Lotte give a small start. "Oh crap yeah we gotta go!" Akko says as she jumps up to go throw her plate away. The red team breaks out in a brisk walk to the one class all freshmen are required to take, Beasts and Human Magic Education.
