Flashback
Three years ago Carmen was late for her first appointment. She'd overslept and was speeding to get to work. She saw the last thing she needed in her rear view mirror, a cop hit his lights.
"Shit." She said frustrated. She pulled onto the shoulder. When she saw the officer she thought he was cute.
"License and registration please." She gave to him. "Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"I know, I was speeding." "I'm sorry."
"What's your hurry?"
"I'm late for work."
"What do you do?"
"I'm a psychiatrist." "I know speeding is wrong and I have to get a ticket."
"No you don't." "The only thing you're getting today is my phone number." He wrote it down and handed it to her.
"Thank you officer Riggs."
"You're welcome."
"My first name is Max."
End Of Flashback
The next night Maria went over to Carmen's for dinner. Carmen was telling her about Max showing up the night before.
"That is super creepy." Maria said.
"I know." "I'm thinking about filling a restraining order."
"You should." Abusing his police powers to look up your address and stalk you, isn't normal."
"I know but who would I report it to?" "I know the entire department." "I used to have dinner at the sheriff's house all the time." "i know they would side with him."
The next day Carmen decided to put Max out of her mind. She had a session with Randy and decided to do some of her silent flirting. She knew it was unethical but technically she wasn't breaking the rules. She once again dangled her right leg that was over her left. During one time glancing up she saw Randy lick his lips.
The session was up. He was her last appointment of the day.
"You did a good job today?" She said.
"Thanks." "I want to take her on top of the desk." He thought.
"See you in our next session."
"Bye."
"Bye." He left.
Carmen left ten minutes later. When she got in her car it wouldn't start. She popped the hood and got out to check. She had no idea what she was looking at.
"Car trouble?" Randy asked coming up beside her.
"Yeah." "Why are you still here?"
"I was on the phone with my boss." Randy looked under the hood. "You need a new rotor arm."
"What the hell is that?"
"It helps spark the ignition." He closed the hood. "Do you want a ride home?"
"I can call a cab."
"You'll be waiting forever." "Let me give you a ride."
"Ok."
They were driving. They were stopped at a light next to a squad car. The officer waved at Carmen. She waved back.
"A friend of yours?" Randy asked.
"I know all the cops in the area." "My ex is a cop."
"What happened?" She didn't say anything. "Come on, I tell you things."
"He cheated on me with his partner." "I'm so stupid I didn't realize it for six months."
"He must be out of his fucking mind." "You are absolutely gorgeous and should be treated like a queen."
"Buttering me up won't make me say nice things on your progress reports." She said smiling.
"I mean it."
"Thank you."
Randy pulled into the parking lot.
"Thank you for the ride." She said.
"You're welcome."
"Bye."
"Bye." She got out of the car.
