Chapter 2: Friends or Foes

The sky began to crack and tore open showing a black and white hypnotic portal. Steven and the gems weren't the only ones who saw this. In the woods Revenger looked up at it.

Revenger: So...they finally decided to show their faces again. Steven you better be ready for this.

Revenger flew out and made his way to it.

In Little Homeworld, Bismuth, Peridot and Lapis were on the watch tower as they witnessed the portal.

Bismuth: What is going on up there!?

Peridot: What's this portal!?

Then they saw the white orb flying out being chased by the pink orb.

Lapis: What are those things?

Bismuth: Space pods?

Peridot: No, they don't look like it.

Suddenly one more orb came out, an orange one. But this one didn't chase after the other two, instead it landed straight down at Beach City. After that, the portal closed up and the sky went back to normal.

Lapis: One of them just landed in Beach City.

Bismuth: Come on guys, we gotta check it out. The others might need our help and this could be serious.

Meanwhile in town.

People gathered to the spot where the orange orb landed. The smoke was clearing up and in it's place a monster stood there. The was an anthropomorhpic triceratops creature with orange skin. He stood as tall as Sunstone with huge muscles and. He had bronze armor with shoulder guards but also had a skirt/crotch armor around his waist along wrist guards and boots. He had gargolyle like wings and yellow eyes. He slowly got up and looked around the area with an intimadating look on his face. The people around looked at him.

?: You are in my way.

The monster reached his arm at them as he opened up his hand as it began to glow. This scared the people as they ran away from him, he still tried to fire at them, but missed and ended up blowing up a car.

?: Hmmm, not what I had in mind but still flashy. But where am I?

Steven: Hey stop!

?: Hmmm.

The monster turned around and behind him was Steven, Connie and the gems.

Pearl: Is that what the orb was?

Connie: He doesn't look like a corrupted gem or a Gara Droid.

Steven: Let me talk first...

The monster looked at Steven carefully for a moment until he finally recognized him.

?: Uh...Ah! It's you! You're Steven Universe.

Steven: Um...yes. Have we met?

?: And you're his gem friends. But...you should all be dead.

Garnet: Dead?

Amethyst: Okay this guy is seriously freaking me out.

Steven: Excuse me Mr...

?: Mister? Who are you talking to? I am Skekung! Not mister. You should know that.

Steven: Okay Skekung. If you could just calm down and stop what you're doing, can you answer some of our questions?

Skekung: Hehehehe! I don't know how you're still alive. But I can fix that.

Steven: What?

Skekung got took out his fist and pulled it back.

Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-ung punch!

Skekung ran at full speed at Steven and punched him across the face, sending him flying into a car.

Connie: Steven!

Amethyst: Okay that's it, this guy is defintly bad news.

Garnet: Let's take him down.

Garnet, Pearl and Amethyst surrounded Skekung.

Skekung: Hehehehe...this will be fun.

Amethyst used two of her whip and wrapped him around it. He was all tied up as she held both ends of them. She whiplashed them sending and energy wave at him. The blast hits him, but when the smoke clears up, he still stands unharmed.

Amethyst: What?

Skekung: Was that it? That was barely a budge.

Amethyst: Oh okay, you want to play it that way huh?

Amethyst formed into a ball and spindashed at him. as she was getting close to him, he was starting to break loose.

Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-ung kick!

Skekung breaks free and kicks Amethyst like a soccer ball, sending her away.

Skekung: ( silent chuckles) Score!

Pearl: Amethyst! My spear should pierce through his armor.

Pearl lunges at him. But the spear didn't pierce through his armor. The spear just wouldn't go through.

Pearl: What?

Skekung: Ha! My armor is made from very strong material. Nothing can cut through.

He tried to hit her with his tail, but she jumped back and instead threw her spear at his face. But he grabs it and breaks it in half wtih his one hand like a tooth pick. Pearl took out another spear and fired lasers at him. He deflected each one with his hand. Suddenly he vanished. Pearl looked around where he was until he reappeared from behind and punched her in the back. She fell to the ground as Skekung stomped on her head, trying to crush her. That was until he was punched in the face by Garnet. This pushed him back a bit.

Pearl: He's so fast...

Garnet: Let me handle this.

Garnet ran up to Skekung and threw multiple punches at him as he stepped backwards and kept blocking them.

Garnet: Hehehehe! Not bad! I'm impressed, but it's not enough to beat me. Skek-u-u-u-ung tail!

Skekung hits Garnet with his tail, sending her flying to a wall.

As they were fighting Connie went to Steven.

Connie: Steven? Steven!

Steven got back up, rubbing his head.

Steven: Ow. Geez, he hits hard.

He gasped when he saw the gems hurt as they tried to get back up.

Steven: Oh no guys!

Steven ran down with his shield. As he went back down, he's met up with Bismuth, Lapis, Peridot and Revenger.

Steven: Guys.

Bismuth: Don't worry young leader, the backup has arrived.

Peridot: Is this the clod giving you trouble?

Revenger: What is he?

Garnet: He calls himself Skekung.

Amethyst: Yeah and apparently he names every move after himself.

Skekung: Ah, the rest of you are here too. Come on! Show me what you got. Skek-u-u-u-ung charge!

Skekung ran at them charging like a bull. But before anything could happen, the pink orb was coming down and landed in between them. The smoke clears up and new figure appeared. This time it was a gem. She was at Steven's height. She has a pink complexion, magenta eyes, a small pointy nose, and cerise hair that is styled into a pair of spiky pigtails. She also has three black lines underneath both of her eyes reminiscent of running mascara. Her clothing consists of a plum-colored top, puffy pointed hot pink sleeves, puffy magenta shorts, hot pink wrist-length gloves, white stockings, and a pair of magenta knee-high pointy boots. Her gem was located on her chest, shaped like an upside down heart.

Steven: Is that another gem?

Skekung: AH! Spinel! I thought I lost you when we went in. Look who I...

But the gem called Spinel just stretched her arm at Skekung and grabbed him by his snout and pulled him to her face.

Spinel: You idiot! I said to not rush in and you go in anyway. Can't that pea brain of yours do anything right?

Skekung: I'm sorry. But look who I found.

Spinel turned around and saw Steven and the gems. Her eyes widened and grinned.

Spinel: Well, well, well, well, well. Lemme get a look at the menagerie. (shapeshifts her hand and eye into a telescope) We have Steven Universe, Amethyst, Garnet, One of Pink Diamond's pears, Revenger and uh...the rest. That's just swell.

Bismuth: Whoa hold on, what do you mean the rest?

Peridot: Yeah I take offense to that! I'll have you know I the great and lovable Peridot have recieved the best character development!

Lapis: Peridot I think that's the least of our worries.

Spinel: Yeah guess what... I don't care! In fact, I'm surprised most of you are still alive.

Steven: Okay seriously, can you tell us who you are? I mean first this guy shows up wanting to fight and you two acting like you know us keep saying we're supposed to be dead.

Spinel: Wait no I get it now. That portal we went through, this not our time.

Steven: Your time what? Okay, it's settled, you probably have me mistaken for someone else.

Spinel: Oh ho ho no. I know who you are? You're Steven Universe, son of Pink Diamond right?

Steven: How do you know that?

Spinel: Oh lets just say some of my other friends filled me in on what I missed and me and your mom go way, way BACK!

Spinel stretched her leg, kicking him down.

Spinel: But I guess I'll tell you more another day. Right now we have more important things to get too.

Garnet: We can't let you go like that.

Revenger: Let's just get her already.

The whole group charged at her. But she was very quick as she dodged every attack.

Spinel: If you're that desperate, than I guess we can spare some game time.

She streched her body all around as she just toyed taunting with them all, like hanging Pearl by her legs upside down, kicking Amethyst with her feet like tennis, enlarging her hands and clashing Garnet and Revenger like they were toys and wrapping her arms around Steven and Connie and using them like yo-yos.

Lapis: Hey stop that!

Peridot: Hold on guys we're coming.

Peridot, Bismuth and Lapis tried to go help them but they are cut off by Skekung.

Skekung: If your going to save your friends you're gonna have to get through me.

His horns began to glow green.

Skekung: Skeku-u-u-ung blaster!

A trio of laser beams shot from each horn at them. The three got out of the way as they flew up, Lapis on her own and Peridot on Bismuth's back using her metal powers.

Skekung: You can't get away from me with flying!

Skekung flew up and chased after them. Despite his size and bulkiness, he was fast on land and in the air. He managed to catch up to them. Skekung appeared in front of Peridot and Bismuth and grinned at them.

Skekung: Skek-u-u-u...

Peridot: Does every move you have really start with...

Skekung: Kick!

Skekung kicked Peridot off of Bismuth. But before Bismuth fell, he grabbed her.

Skekung: Hehehehe, I simple fall will not satisfy me, prepare for Skeku-u-u-u-ung...

He began to fly down with them upside down.

Skekung: Piledriver!

Bismuth screamed as they landed hard in the ground. Skekung was standing while Bismuth was stuck to the ground with only her legs sticking out. He grabbed her by the leg and pulled her like picking a carrot from a garden.

Skekung: I love picking vegetables from my garden. Hahahaha!

Then he saw a large hand shadow above him. He looked up and saw Lapis with two water hands.

Lapis: I've had it with you tormenting my friends.

Skekung dropped Bismuth and looked back at her.

Skekung: You're right.

Skekung flew up at her full speed.

Skekung: It's you're turn to face my wrath!

Lapis tried hitting him with the water hands. He dodged two of them as he was getting close, but she quickly formed another one which did hit him as it was pushing him to the ground. But he pushed back and broke through the water hand. She was caught off guard as he punched her in the stomach. Lapis grunted as she lost control of her wings. But she didn't fall, Skekung grabbed her head.

Skekung: And now, just for the fun of it, I'm going to poof you slowly.

Skekung began to crush her head as she yelled from the pain.

Skekung: Yes, that's what I want to hear. Scream, scream!

Peridot: Lapis! Put her down you clod!

Spinel: Skekung, may I remind you that we shouldn't kill them.

Skekung: I'm just going to poof her is all. That's not killing.

Skekung continued to crush her head as she continued screaming and began to tear up. But then then he heard something. The white orb that came from the portal was coming right at him, but it was starting to take shape into a different figure, he was positioned into a flying kick.

Skekung: Huh?

The figure kicked him across the face so hard he lets go of her and fell to the ground. The new figure caught Lapis from falling and slowly flew back to the ground. Lapis opend her eyes to see her savior, some masked warrior. She looked at him, but he didn't look at her.

Once they made it to the ground, Spinel stopped taungting them and gazed at him. He appeared to be a young man wearing a white body suit of armor with a gold star on the chest. He was slightly taller than Pearl, but not as tall as Garnet and had an athletic build. His face was covered with a T visor helmet. He lets go of Lapis as she looked up to him.

?: Stand aside.

Lapis: Huh?

?: I'll handle this, you all stand aside.

Lapis does what he says and stands aside and meets back with the others. Spinel lets go of everyone else and Skekung gets back up and meets up with her.

Skekung: It's that brat again.

?: You guys really caught me off guard. I should have known you were following me.

Spinel: Well of course we would. After all the trouble you put us through, our master has been dying to stop you.

?: I won't let that happen. But I guess it's not so bad that you're here, I'll finally be able to kill the two of you.

Steven and the others just looked a this White Warrior. They were now just wondering who he was.

Bismuth: Wait, who's that?

Garnet: Whoever he is, I hope he's truly on our side.

Scene cuts back to Spinel.

Spinel: You kill us? Ha! I'd love to see you try this time. Skekung.

Skekung let out a roar as he ran at the warrior.

Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-ung punch!

Skekung threw a punch at him which he blocked. Skekung began to throw numerous punches at him, but he kept blocking them all. The last punch the warrior grabbed his arm threw him aside. Skekung tried to get back up and swung his tail at him. He grabbed it and began to spin him around, throwing him in the air. He flew up and punched him do the ground. As Skekung tried to get back up, the warrior did something else. He broaght his arms together as he formed them into a cross sign as his upper hand began to glow, shooting out a blue laser at Skekung's face. He screams out in pain as he fell back covering his face.

Peridot: Whoa, he just took him down like he was nothing.

Steven: ( in his mind) Who is this guy?

The young warrior turned his focus to Spinel now.

?: Now, you want to stop fooling around and take me on like a man.

Spinel: Fine, if you're done playing games with Skekung, you can play with me next. We'll play a game I know I'll get to win.

Spinel took out from her gem a scythe. But he wasn't defensless, he formed his hands together and creates and energy ball. It then takes shape into a weapon, a japanese nagitana sword.

Garnet: He just formed a weapon.

Steven: Wait, is he a gem too?

Connie: Have you guys noticed his chest also?

Amethyst: What about it?

Connie: It has a star on it. Isn't that the Crystal Gem symbol?

Peridot: It is.

Steven: Could he be one too?

Bismuth: But who is he?

Then they got an idea and turned to Pearl.

Pearl: What?

Amethyst: Come on P, who is he?

Pearl How should I know?

Steven: You know a lot of things.

Pearl: Yes but just because I was with Pink the longest and probably knew more than any of you doesn't mean I know everything.

Garnet: So you don't know who he is.

Pearl: If I did, I recognize him ( snaps her fingers) just like that.

But as they spoke, Spinel and the warrior finally began to fight.

Spinel: Heeheehee. Ready or not, here I come!

Spinel jumped over to the warrior as the two clashed their weapons. Spinel kept attacking him as all the warrior could do was block. The next attack their weapons locked onto each other as they struggled.

Spinel: What's the matter kiddo? Can't fight back cause I'm a girl.

?: If there is anything I was taught, it was to never hold back.

The warrior pushed her off he hits her across the face with the other end of his nagitana. Then he started spin his weapon around like a fan as it began to glow.

?: Cyclone burst!

The spinning nagitana shot out an electric windstorm at Spinel, electricuting her and sending her flying up in the air. She couldn't move due to being paralyzed by the the electricity in the cyclone burst. The warrio flew up quickly as he was above Spinel. He got his nagitana ready and was about to stab her. Spinel just watched as a grin formed on her face.

Spinel: Clever girl...

The warrior plunged the blade into her chest sending the two crashing down. Once they landed, he soon realizes that he poofed her and her gem was still intact, lying on the ground.

?: That was meant to go to your gem. No matter.

He placed his foot on top of it.

?: This ends now.

Steven: Wait hold on!

Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-ng...

The warrior heard Skekung's voice and turned as he was charging at him.

Skekung: Charge!

The warrior jumped up doing a flip to dodge. But doing so made him get off of Spinel's gem as Skekung picked it up as he was charging. He looked at him and everyone saw that the left side of his face was all burnt. He flew up into the air and flied away into the horizon.

Skekung: We'll meet again boy!

They all stood there and watched as he got away.

?: Damn that Skekung. I almost had her.

But then he turned to Steven and the gems. They were bit on the defense side. Was he an ally or does he want to kill them for his own goal. But the warrior just stared at them for a moment, but they couldn't tell what he was thinking.

?: Are you Steven Universe?

Steven: Uh...

Bismuth: No, no he isn't. This is uh...Rusty Shackleford. In fact, the Steven Universe your looking for is on uh...uh...

Pearl: Neptune!

Bismuth: Yeah, Neptune!

Garnet placed a hand on their shoulders.

Garnet: It's okay you two, he won't attack us.

The warrior's nagitana disappeared as he raised up his hands.

?: I assure you I am not your enemy. You can trust me.

Pearl: Well, that's good to hear.

Steven: Yeah, thanks a lot. You really saved us.

Peridot: Yeah, you took those clods down like they were nothing.

Lapis: And saving me, thanks.

He turned his attention to Lapis for a moment. She had a confused look on her face, why was he staring at her like that. Then he nodded to her

?: You're welcome.

Revenger: Perhaps you can answer our question. What was that portal? Who are you, who were they and where did you come from?

?: Of course. I'm glad your all here. I came to warn you.

Steven: Warn us?

Amethyst: You mean about that gem and that big guy?

?: Something worse. To answer one of your questions, that portal you saw was a time portal.

Their eyes widened in shock of what he said.

Steven: Time portal?

Garnet: You mean...

?: Yes...I'm from the future.
