Chapter 10: No Mercy
Everyone was near Pink Diamond's old ship. They saw Peridot and Pearl coming out of the entrance.
Peridot: Everyone, after a whole week of refurbishments...
Pearl: The ship is finally ready.
Peridot: Hey I was going to say that.
Gray: So then, we can finally continue the mission?
Pearl: We're ready when you are.
Garnet: Let's get final preparations ready.
Steven: Alright, well I'm gonna pack food for us. This could be a long trip.
Gray: I gotta go get my armor.
As they were making their way inside, Steven looked up and saw Revenger flying down to them.
Revenger: Is it time to go?
Steven: Almost. We're just getting essentials ready.
Revenger: I see.
Steven: You're gonna come with us right?
Revenger: Of course, I need closure.
Steven: Closure?
Revenger: Uh, I mean... I need this, no I mean...
Steven: No what did you mean closure?
Revenger looked at Steven and then away. He closed his eyes and sighed.
Revenger: Steven I...I haven't been completely honest with you.
Steven: What's wrong?
Revenger: I was made from souls of dead Gara Droids, betrayed by Gien. I was made to kill him. Two years ago we accomplished that. I fulfilled my purpose, but then...now what? I realized there was nothing left for me to fight. You all were moving on from this, living peacefully, building a town for gems and teaching them how to live on Earth but me. I can't move on and I don't know why. Did I not get the satisfaction, is that it? Will going out to finish off his minions do it? It's been bothering me for a while. I'm not even supposed to be here on this world or any kind. I shouldn't be alive.
Steven: Hey, hey!
Steven grabs his arm.
Steven: Revenger why didn't you tell me this before?
Revenger: I don't know, it's just my own problem.
Steven: Is this why you didn't want to live in Little Homeworld?
Revenger: Mostly yes.
Steven: Revenger I want to help you with your problem, but I can't if you won't let me in. Look, we got a mission to do, but when we come back will you consider coming to Little Homeworld? I'll be there to guide you, me Garnet Amethyst, Pearl, Lapis and everyone, we'll help you.
Revenger: Hmmm, I guess I'll consider it. Thanks.
Steven: Sure, let's get ready.
Volleyball: Steven!
Steven turned and saw Volleyball running towards him.
Steven: Volleyball?
Volleyball: Steven wait, are you leaving?
Steven: Real soon.
Volleyball: But what about Spinel?
Steven: Oh right...
Volleyball: You said we can talk to her.
Steven: I know, but this not a good time.
Volleyball: What if we went in and unbubble her real quick? I have to see her.
Steven: I know you do really. But I don't think Gray will like this.
As they were talking. Skekung was on the top of the temple and heard everything.
Skekung: Spinel is alive. Inside the temple. I should get her out but how? Hmmm. Think, think what would Spinel say?
Skekung tried to think as a thought bubble formed with Spinel talking to him.
Spinel: Skekung, how many times do I got to tell you to chew with your mouth closed.
The thought bubble pops.
Skekung: No that's not it.
He began to think again of her.
Spinel: When was the last time you took a bath? I can smell you from a foot away.
The thought bubble pops again.
Skekung: No, no come on!
Skekung thought one more time.
Spinel: You idiot can't you do anything right. Use your head.
The thought bubble pops, but this time Skekung snaps his fingers with an idea.
Skekung: That's it! Use my head.
Skekung flew up in the air, getting distance from the temple.
Skekung: Skek-u-u-u-u-u-ung Dive!
Skekung flew down to the temple head on. With his strong head he broke threw the outside of the temple. Everyone heard the impact and saw rubble from the temple fall. Steven got his shield and protected everyone from the fallen rubble.
Peridot: What was that?!
Garnet: The temple!
Everyone got inside the temple to find to see what broke in. They made it to the bubble room and found Skekung taking the bubble Spinel was in.
Skekung: Hehehe, found you at last.
Gray: Skekung!
Skekung looked and saw Gray fully armored with Steven and everyone.
Skekung: AH! You!
Skekung flew out of the temple through the hole he came out of. While everyone ran back out to get him, he landed back outside and popped the bubble. Spinel's gem began to glow and she took form again.
Skekung: Spinel! You have returned!
Spinel: Yes I have. How long was I out?
Skekung: Eh uh...how long? Um...er...
Spinel: You don't know?
Skekung: I was knocked unconciouss too. I just came back and rescued you.
Spinel: Well that's the first good thing you've done on this miss..wha?
Spinel saw Pink's ship standing before her.
Spinel: Pink Diamond's ship?
Steven: Spinel!
Spinel turned and saw Steven and the others with him.
Spinel: Stevie, I'm home! Did you miss me?
Gray: I can tell you I didn't.
Volleyball was in the very back and got a glimpse of Spinel. Her eyes widened, it looked like the Spinel she knew but looked different. More menacing.
Spinel: Aw don't worry Wittle Gway, I haven't forgotten about you. But before anything else, Skekung destroy the ship.
Skekung: With pleasure.
Gray: Not going to happen!
Gray charged at Skekung, punching in the face. Skekung punched him back and flew up. Gray flew up at him as the two engaged in combat, leaving Spinel with everyone else.
Spinel: Now then.( forms scythe) Who's first?
Steven: Spinel wait! There's someone who wants to speak with you.
Volleyball: Spinel stop!
Volleyball stepped up. Spinel lowered her weapon seeing her.
Volleyball: Spinel you remember me don't you?
Spinel: You...( smirks) of course. How can I forget you Pearl?
Volleyball: Spinel what are you doing? Why are you working with the enemy?
Spinel: I'm working for the enemy? From my point of you, you're working for the enemy.
Steven: What are you talking about? We're not the enemy.
Spinel reached her arm at Steven and started knocking at his head, much to his annoyance.
Spinel: Hello! Hello McFly! Anybody home!?
She stopped knocking on his head and retracted her arm.
Spinel: In case you never realized Pearl, I was left all alone in that garden for over 6,000 years.
Volleyball: The garden?
Spinel: Yeah the garden we used to play.
Volleyball: Spinel wait, why were you in the garden?
Spinel: Do I have to spell it out? I was abandoned by our diamond.
Steven: Mom left her behind? Wait because she faked her shattering and never came back.
Volleyball: There has to be more to it though.
Spinel: There is no more to it. In fact let me ask you this like I did to your future self. Where have you been?
Volleyball: I couldn't have gotten to you, I was bubbled for so long.
Spinel: What about when you were freed? Where you then? Why didn't you come back for me?
Volleyball looked down sad.
Volleyball: I couldn't remember you.
Spinel: Really? I was that unimportant that you forgot about me.
Volleyball: No it's not like that. Spinel the moment I was freed, most of my memories were hazy and repressed. I couldn't remember you. If I had I would have gone back for you. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything that's happened for you, but I'm here now. These are my friends. Let us help you.
Spinel just looked at her with a neutral look.
Spinel: You're sorry huh? Well you know what? I forgive you.
Volleyball: ( eyes widened) Really?
Spinel: Yes and you know how you can make up for it?
Volleyball: Let me kill you, just like what I did to your future self in my timeline!
Spinel raised her scythe and lunged at Volleyball. Volleyball stood in fear, but Revenger got in front of her and fired at Spinel, sending her back.
Revenger: We tried to talk, but she's not listening. So now we fight.
Revenger ran at Spinel with his wrist blades and tried to slash her. Spinel dodges his attacks and kicks him as Steven and the others join the fight. Despite being outnumbered, Spinel was fast and swifty due to her elasticity.
Back in the air, Gray was still fighting Skekung. Skekung's tail whipped at him. Gray dodged and appeared from behind punching him in the back. Skekung turned and tried to punch him, but Gray wasn't there, but then appeared in front of him, punching Skekung in the stomach and cracking his armor. Skekung grabbed his head and began crushing it. Gray's helmet was starting dent, cutting his head.
Skekung: I'm going to crush your brains out!
But then water chains appeared around Skekung, making him lose grip of Gray. Gray floated back down and saw Lapis was on the ground, keeping hold on Skekung.
Lapis: Keep your hands off him!
Gray: Lapis...
Lapis: I got you. Hit him now.
Gray formed together his arms and began to glow. He charged up his energy and fired a green energy beam at Skekung. Skekung was stuck and couldn't get out. He paniced seeing the beam come right at him. Soon he was hit and engulfed by the beam, letting out an explosion. Lapis and Gray saw his body fall down onto the beach. As the smoked cleared up however, they saw Skekung was still standing, just scratched up a bit but his amor was all broken up.
Lapis: How is he still standing?
Skekung: Hehehe! That was a nice shot boy. But you know very well I am not easy to kill.
Skekung ripped his armor off, showing his muscular build body.
Skekung: Ah, that's better. Shall we then.
The horns on Skekung's head began to glow.
Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-u-ung...
Gray: Quick move!
Skekung: Blaster!
Skekung fired away at Gray and Lapis, who both managed to get away. However he charged at Lapis and tail whipped her. Lapis fell onto the ground and Skekung stood in front of her, looking her down.
Skekung: You are starting to annoy me water gem.
Skekung lifted his foot at her.
Skekung: Skeku-u-u-u-ung...
Before Skekung could do anything he's hit by an energy ball from Gray, knocking him away from her.
Gray: You stay away from her.
Gray continued to fight Skekung as we cut back to Steven and Spinel. He was tossing shields at her, but she kept dodging. She came at him about to slash him until Garnet stepped in front, punching her in the face.
Steven: Thanks Garnet.
Garnet: Sure thing.
During the fight they saw a portal come behind them, it was Connie on Lion.
Connie: Hey guys, am I late...Oh!
Connie saw the fighting and drew out her sword. However, Spinel saw her as well and came at her, knocking her off Lion and wrapping her arm around her.
Steven: Connie!
Spinel: Stop where you are! Take another step or I'll crush the life out of your girlfriend.
Steven and the other stopped what they were doing. They couldn't let anything happen to Connie. Gray saw what was happening, he saw his mom in danger.
Gray: Mom!
Gray transformed into his super gem state and flew down at Spinel at fast speed. He got his fingers together and poked them at Spinel's forehead, making an electric shock. Spinel lets go of Connie as she falls back and Skekung meets up with her.
Gray: Mom are you okay?
Connie: I'm alright Gray.
Gray: That's it, leave this to me.
Garnet: Are you sure Gray?
Gray: This is my fight. It's time I put these two in there place.
Everyone stood away to let Gray fight.
Skekung: Put us in our place? HA! I don't care what form you take, you'll never defeat the strongest reincarnation of King Salamandas boy!
Gray: Then give me all you got Skekung!
Skekung yelled and charged at Gray. Skekung threw multiple punches at Gray. Gray blocked each punch and kicked him across the face. Skekung stepped back and rubbed his face.
Skekung: Damn you! Skeku-u-u-u-ung Charge!
Skekung ran at him trying to ram him with his head. But then Gray dodged and Skekung rammed into a boulder, his head stuck on the other end of it and was stuck for a bit. Gray appeared in front of him and raised his arm up as it began to glow. He then karate chopped Skekung's horns off, making break out of the boulder and screaming in agony.
Skekung: AAAAAAARGH! MY HORNS! How dare...AGH!
But then the unexpected happen to Skekung andeveryones shock, Gray stabbed Skekung in the stomach with one of his horns. Skekung stepped back, holding the horn in is stomach as blood was dripping out. Skekung pulled it out and covered his wound. Skekung glared at Gray and was about to attack him.
Skekung: DIE!
But then Gray stapped the other horn into his head. Skekung stood there for a moment taking the pain and the blood was oozing from his head and trickling down his body. Finally he fell back. Gray set his attention on Spinel next and formed his nagitana.
Gray: You're next Spinel.
Spinel glared at Gray and the two clashed their weapons. Gray tried jabbing, but Spinel dodged and she tried to cut his head off. He blocked the attack and pushed her off as the two kept clashing weapons.
Gray: You're not tormenting my family any longer.
Spinel: You sound so sure about it.
Gray: That's because I am!
Gray kicked Spinel to the ground. She sprung up and punched Gray down. She jumped up into the air and threw her scythe at him. But he acted fast and at super fast speed, everything slowed down. He flew up and threw his nagitana at Spinel's gem. Spinel's eyes widened from the impact and she fell to the ground, away from everyone else. Gray landed back on the ground, he turned off his super gem mode and everything moved back to normal. Before Gray went to her, he heard grunts from Skekung. Skekung tried to crawl away until Gray stepped in front of him, facing the palm of his hand at him.
Skekung: G-Gray...I was j-just following orders. Please don't kill me.
Gray just stared at him, still facing his hand at Skekung.
Skekung: I'm defenseless. Please? I'm not bad. Master and Spinel is but not I. Spare me we can be a team. We'll, we'll defeat King Salamandas together and...
Gray suddenly fired an energy beam at Skekung cutting him off.
Skekung: NO, AAAAAAAAAA!
Skekung is hit and is blown to pieces. Steven shielded everyone so they wouldn't get touched by fiery bits of his remains.
Amethyst: Dude...he just obliterated him.
Pearl: That was still pretty intense though.
Steven put down the shield and went to Gray.
Steven: Gray...
Gray: It's not over yet.
Gray went over to Spinel and Steven followed. She was on her back, the nagitana was stuck on her gem, close to shattering.
Steven: Spinel...
Gray took the nagitana and shoved it deeper into her gem, making her yell.
Steven: What are you doing?
Gray: Finishing her off.
Steven: But you'll shatter her.
Gray: That's exactly the point.
Steven: We don't shatter gems.
Gray: She's a monster!
Spinel: I'm waiting.
Gray motioned to Spinel.
Spinel: Just get it over with, you've finally beaten me after all these years.
Steven: No wait, Gray let me...
Gray: What? Heal her?
Steven: I haven't gotten throught to her yet.
Gray: She's evil dad! She just tried to kill mom!
Spinel: He's right you know Stevie. I'm pretty unpredictable.
Gray: You shut up! I am about to end this.
Spinel: Go ahead, have your little victory now. But you and I both know this isn't over. You're mission. It's just beginning and you just made a big mistake killing the both of us.
Gray: You're just trying to mess with me.
Spinel: You think I'm lying, alright how about I tell you something true.
Gray: Please what?
Spinel: You let Revenger die.
Everything went silent after that line. Steven's eyes widened of what she said. What did she mean by that. He turned to Gray and even though he couldn't see his face, he could tell he was tensed up.
Spinel: Aw did I get under your skin?
Gray: Shut up.
Spinel: What I'm just saying the truth. And the truth will set you free.
Gray: I said shut up!
Spinel: It was just him, you let a lot of your friends die that day. They trusted you and you turned their backs on them.
Gray: That is a lie!
Spinel: Then why is it bothering you? You think King Salamandas and I are bad, you are just as bad if not worse. Hehehehahahaha!
Gray took the nagitana and fully stabbed through Spinel's gem, shattering her. Then he faced the palm of his hand at her remains and obliterated them completely with an energy blast.
Steven looked at Gray who was breathing heavily.
Steven: Gray...what did you do?
Gray: What I had to.
Steven: She couldn't fight anymore. You didn't have to do that.
Gray: Would she have shown you mercy if it was the other way around? She would have killed you had I not been here. You show no mercy to the enemy, that's the rule.
Steven: It's not always like that.
Gray looked away from him.
Gray: We have a mission to fulfil, get ready.
Gray walked away as Steven followed.
Gray: ( in his mind) He's too soft to be a warrior. That's why he died.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. I know it's been a while again or if this felt a bit rushed, but this time it's because I'm now focusing on my new Owl House story " Into the Unknown." Mainly because I've really been getting into the show and because the SU fanbase has kinda died off and the shows over. I'm just doing this now for the fans, actually I think we're halfway through. If you're a fan of the Owl house and/or interested of what I'm making now, check out my new major story. I'm still in the early act, but I'm excited to work on it further. And I'll try to stay more true to the source material there than this. Oh and before anyone freaks out and berates me for me killing off Spinel, remember differnt time periods.
