CHAPTER 37-LET'S PLAY HOUSE
Jessica and Baz had been on edge all night while checking his entire house out. Lena had constantly questioned what they were doing and while they tried to keep her distracted, she still walked into the scene with questions. It was well into the middle of the night by the time they finished but they finally had confirmation on everything.
Searching the house high and low, they had come to the conclusion that Smurf's had rigged Baz's home with a hidden recorder. Jessica found one of them first, hidden right under the edge of a countertop. The second took longer to find but once Baz checked the bedroom, the dresser was the hotspot. Neither one of them could believe that she had done such a thing, even though Smurf was good at playing the game. That point on, they had said she wasn't allowed to step foot in the house unless one of them were there to keep an eye on her.
After taking Lena to school, Baz suggested the search Jessica's apartment since Smurf had already broken in there once before. She hadn't come over for a while but with their plan in motion, it didn't cause harm to search just in case. They turned up with nothing and they figured Smurf focused on Baz's because she knew that Jessica spent most of her time there.
"I checked the car out once you took Lena this morning so we should be safe" Baz told Jessica, as he was driving. He had a couple things to do, and she decided to tag along.
"I can't believe she tried to pull that off. Are you sure we are doing the right thing?" Jessica asked, staring out the window to see a couple of houses go by. She had no idea where they were going but enjoyed the view as it was a bright, sunny, early afternoon.
"We're fine now that she can't spy anymore. I'll kick J's ass if he says anything" They weren't sure if J was telling Smurf anything behind their backs since they were all in it together.
Unlike Jessica, Baz knew the kid shouldn't have been trusted since day one. There was something about his attitude that he didn't like, it also didn't help that he jumped whenever Smurf said to. J had easily become the new favorite and that rubbed Baz's ego the wrong way because he used to be in those shoes. He had been the right-hand man for years, all of them knew that but there had been a shift lately with Smurf taking a liking to the young boy. The whole situation still made the Cost sister cautious, and she didn't want to talk about it anymore.
"Out of curiosity, where are we going?" As she had been staring out the window, the pretty scenery went away.
Baz looked around in multiple directions to figure out if he were going the right way. The car came to a stop in a middle empty field, surrounded by junk cars. He pulled his phone out of his pocket to check it over.
"Just promise me that you'll stay in the car" He told her before driving again.
"Is this about who called out this morning or..."Jessica stopped taking while rolling down her window to stick her head out a little, her blonde waves flying. "Seriously, where are we going?"
Baz hadn't answered her as he put his phone in his lap and drive towards a brown building. Pulling into a parking spot, he put the silver Challenger in park but didn't move an inch. Jessica shifted her eyes over to him and before she could say anything, he spoke.
"I'll be right back, just stay here"
"What are we doing in a junkyard? Baz, I'm not sitting in the car"
"This will take me ten minutes top. Just turn on the radio or play a game on your phone. I'll be back Jess"
Jessica wanted to protest more but Baz was already getting out of the car. He should have known better because there was no way in hell, she was going to sit in there without knowing what was going on. She had never been there before, so it made her wonder what exactly the reason was. It couldn't have been about Smurf but then again, Baz had been full of surprises the last couple of weeks.
Opening the car door and silently getting out, Baz turned around when she shut the car door. "What are you doing? I said stay in the car"
"I never do what you tell me. I'm coming with you" She jogged over to his side as he was feet in front of her. "What am I missing?"
He didn't answer her vocally but a sigh and shake of his head did the trick. This was something he was prepared to do himself, but Jessica had tagged along when he dropped Lena off at school. Jessica also hadn't gone back to work, so she had been spending most of her time with him. Baz wouldn't complain of course but he didn't want her to see any of this.
The couple had walked past a worn down brown building and it seemed like he already knew exactly where to go. That made Jessica even more suspicious, but she just trailed behind him while taking in her surroundings. Baz stopped dead in his tracks to look a couple of guys over who had been trying to tear a car apart.
"Who or what are you looking for?" Jessica questioned, popping up at his side to see him.
"Hey…I didn't expect to see you here" A voice had called out from behind them which made them spin around. Standing there was a man, probably around Smurf's age or older and was wiping his hands in an old rag. "I take it you've been getting my calls?"
Jessica had shifted her stormy eyes trying to make some sort of connection because the man didn't look familiar at all. Baz's had stayed completely still, his blue eyes locked on him, not even acknowledging anything around him.
"Can we go somewhere and talk?" Baz asked him and once the man nodded, he finally took a look at Jessica. She tried to find something in his eyes, but she couldn't read anything. It was a strange scenario for both of them.
The three of them away from the mess around them and walked towards the front of the entrance. It was less noisy, and no one was around to hear the conversation. They were still surrounded by pieces of metal and broken-down cars, but it gave Jessica the opportunity to stand right next to Baz.
"I didn't think I'd actually be seeing you again or even hearing from you" He spoke before taking a look at the blonde. "I'm Ray Blackwell, Baz's Dad" He held his hand out to her which got a minor rise out of Baz. "This isn't Catherine, is it?"
"No, this is Jessica" He responded, not even giving her the chance to take a breath.
Jessica had lightly hit Baz's arm before holding out her hand to shake his. She hadn't remembered what the guy looked like as she was around six or seven the last time she had seen him. "Jessica Cody…I guess it's nice to meet you?"
Even though she knew the past abuse that Baz came from, she was still trying to be cordial. That was one trait that she held compared to the rest of her family. She had more of a forgiving nature, especially if it came to what they had gone through. It was slightly hypocritical for her to think that way as she had never forgiven Smurf for anything, but Jessica had her reasons. If this situation was going to give Baz peace, then she wanted to see the end result. The forgiving trait really exceled her in life, and it allowed her to have her spirit free because she didn't want to hang on to anger or grudges. Baz however had a different attitude and was having a hard time staying calm.
While shaking her hand, Ray had given her a look over before his face twisted in confusion. "You're Smurf's kid? You must be the sister then" He hadn't really known the Cody family for obvious reasons but knew that there had been numerous kids.
Once they dropped hands, Baz spoke. "Look, I've been getting all of your phone calls and texts and I really don't know what you want me to say. I haven't even talked to you since…"
"Since you decided to attack me and pour Whiskey down my throat?" Ray told him harshly, remembering it quickly. Baz kept a poker face while Jessica snapped her head at him after hearing that. Questions were now starting to form in her head.
He nodded faintly with a scoff. "That is great, and here I thought that would bever happen. I don't even remember a time that you were sober"
"Baz, come on. Let him say what he has to" As the two men were staring down each other, Jessica wanted to be the voice of reason but also wanted to stay out of it. She felt like she was inserting herself into a matter that didn't involve her, yet she had to intervene. "
Their blue eyes had met one another's and while Jessica's were pleading, Baz couldn't find anything in himself to be peaceful. "No, I'm not going to do this. Take a look at these pictures" Digging into his back pocket, Baz pulled out polaroid's that would be familiar to all of them. "Remember these? That's me, isn't it?
Holding them out for him to grab, Ray looked between the couple realizing this was a confrontation, not a reunion. Sighing slowly before taking them, he shifted through them but didn't say a word for a good moment. "This is past history…"
"If it's in the past then why am I just finding out about this now? See, I have no memory of things like this, but Jessica told me everything that happened. How you used to try and drag me home, you'd beat me until I looked exactly like those pictures"
It was something that Baz felt needed to be done and he needed to know the truth. Smurf had constantly reminded him of everything he endured but it was hard for him to tell if she was spreading the truth or not. The Cody Matriarch knew how to pull everyone's strings and when things or people got out of line, she tugged. Since Baz wasn't her biological child, it was easier for her to hold things over his head without the others really remembering what happened.
"What do you want me to say? Yes, I did those things and not a day goes by that I don't forget or even regret it. If you're looking for an apology, I'm sorry"
Ripping his eyes away from the photos, Ray looked at Baz to catch his reaction except he hadn't been looking at him. Jessica had awkwardly dug her sandal in the ground, casting her eyes to the ground as well. This was not how she thought her day was going to go.
"That's bullshit and you know it. You were nothing but an abusive, alcoholic Father and I'm lucky that Smurf was the one who took me in. If she hadn't, then what? What would have happened to me then?" Baz finally looked at his Dad, the venom starting to infect every word.
"I said I'm sorry, didn't I? Yes, I did all those things to you, I'll admit it. I was drunk of the time and I know that it is an excuse. That didn't mean Pope had to mimic these same marks on me on more than one occasion"
Despite Jessica telling Baz that Pope had beat him out in the driveway, that wasn't the only time the incident occurred. She also wanted to keep some of the truth away from him, but no one should have to relive past trauma, Jessica didn't want that to happen. It was under Smurf's orders that Pope handle the situation when Baz showed up months later with more wounds. He hadn't told anyone he went back home but the bruises proved it.
Holding the pictures back out to Baz, Ray didn't want to look at them again or even keep them. "Your brother, or should I say her brother nearly killed me"
That made Jessica lifts her head to see him. "I didn't come here to start trouble so please don't pull me into this. My brother did those things, but it was only in return for Baz" She wasn't sure if that was the right thing to say but she didn't want to be blamed for any actions that everyone else did.
Baz had snatched the photos back and Jessica went to grab them from him so she could keep them and get rid of them herself. She didn't want him holding onto them for forever. Pulling back sharply, he merely glanced at her but glaring at his Dad. "I knew this was a stupid fucking idea…Stop calling me, stop texting me and don't you dare come around my house. Don't bother Jessica and don't even think about trying to see Lena because that will never happen. Let's go"
Taking one that look at Ray, Baz threw the pictures in his face before storming away. Jessica had reached out to grab his arm, but he pulled hard once again. He was booking it back to the silver car which left Ray and Jessica standing in silence. She had run both hands through her hair before sighing heavily. It was predictable that Baz was going to react out of anger, there was no way around it. When he got mad however, it wasn't easy to calm him down, not even Jessica could do it.
Watching the pictures blow around on the ground, Jessica moved in order to grab them. She thought destroying them might help Baz but as of now, she had no answers. Ray had been staring off after his son as he wanted it to be a better outcome than what happened. Moving away from him to grab the last one, he spoke up, mostly to himself but Jessica could hear everything.
"I really feel bad about how things ended up, I just thought he'd like to know I'm doing better" He commented as she turned around to see his back. She again felt like she was in the middle but there was mending this broken relationship.
"I'm not going to make any kind of excuses because I was there when I saw what you did to Baz. I'm not defending him for attacking you, but I don't blame him for the way he feels"
"It's fine if he hates me, I hate myself for it every day. I was an alcoholic; his Mom was a drug addict and left when he was just six months old. I'm not saying that's justifiable, but I really screwed up. I can admit that, but Baz needs to know that I'm trying, and it didn't help when he ruined my sobriety months ago. I just…I really don't know"
Even though Ray really sounded like he wanted to make amends, Jessica could hear excuses lying in his voice despite saying they weren't. She knew personally because she would do it all the time when she was sober. She'd lash out, like she had done after being kidnapped and then blame it on something else but herself. It was Smurf's fault, but Jessica also took the blame for taking the mysterious medication. Denial was a sign of an addict and once an addict, always an addict.
"I'm a drug addict, I've gone to rehab six times. I may even go for a seventh at some point in my life, but I can't keep putting the blame on other people when I'm the one snorting the pills. I'm just going to keep this real; I don't feel bad for you. I however believe in redemption and Baz may come around at some point but I'm going to doubt it…I feel like you should know this but I'm not sure if I should even say it"
Jessica had that Baz was going to say something about the child they were going to have the second he mentioned Lena. It was just her wishing more people knew rather than having to hide it. She had to hide the first pregnancy and she wasn't prepared to do it a second time.
"We're having a kid, congratulations on being a Grandfather again. Maybe someday you'll be able to meet them, along with Lena but for now, the communication has to stop, and this has to be fixed on its own time. My family is broken beyond repair, we're damaged kids that grew up to be damaged adults. I hope that at some point Baz can forgive you and I hope that you understand what you did"
She had given him a quick look as she was passing him and tucked the pictures now in her back pocket. Jessica didn't want him to reply because she didn't want to hear any type of response. It was something she felt like he should have known, only to try and repair the relationship. Maybe things could become better over time and maybe things would start in the right direction. Jessica however didn't know what normal was like, and neither did Baz. The only thing she could do was want and hope, after all, that's all anyone could do.
The second Jessica made her way back to the car, Baz took off without looking back. He believed that everything was done and over with, he didn't want to see his Dad ever again. Those pictures really opened his eyes up and he wanted to put all of that behind him. After all the lying from Smurf, Baz was more than ready to send her away once and for all.
As he peeled away from the building, he toyed with the radio to fill the silence. Baz knew that Jessica would want to talk about what happened because that's how she had always been. Despite her being the youngest sibling, she had always played the caring role, something that Smurf would often fake. In her case, it made up for her abandonment, and how she wished her Mother had been to her.
Jessica had stared out the window like before while taking occasional glances at Baz. She wanted to ask how he was feeling but she didn't want it to blow up in her face. He was never one to talk about his feelings and she knew that well.
"Hey…I know you're probably going to ignore me but are you okay?"
Reaching for the radio, she held the volume button down until either of them could hardly hear it. It conveniently happened while he had stopped at a red light, so Jessica turned completely in her seat to face him. "It's cool if you don't want to get into this now but I'm just wondering what you're thinking"
"I'm fine, can we not talk about it?" He answered while looking over at her. That gesture had caught her off guard as he usually avoided looking at her. As the light turned green, he looked back towards the streets. Rolling down the windows, Baz hesitated to say anything else. "I thought everything that Smurf told me was a lie. I mean, she always told me I should have been grateful that she took me in because of all the abuse that happened. I assumed it was all a lie, just so I could never look back"
"I'm sorry you had to find everything out this way" She told him, leaving out the fact that she told Ray she was pregnant. "That's why we always find our way back to each other. We come from fucked up families, it's just what we're used to"
Baz laughed softly for a second then shook his head when she gave him a curious look. "You said the same thing the night at the party, you know, before you decided to leave me black and blue" He had been referring to the time where she hit him with her cast and escaped like a bandit, knocking Craig's door down.
"I did?" She asked back, still feeling embarrassed about the whole situation. "Then again, I was high but that's beside the point, what did I say?"
"You told me that we're in love with each other because we're both fucked up and that's what we like. You weren't wrong though; Cath couldn't understand this lifestyle, but you were born and raised in it. I'm sorry we have such shitty parents"
Jessica's blue eyes had gone wide out of shock and she put her hand to her chest. "Did I just hear you apologize for something? You, Baz Blackwell actually apologizing for something in his life? This so goes on the calendar"
Both of them had laughed at the joke and it was nice to break the tension. It was going to be a serious conversation at some point in the future, but Jessica was glad that things didn't' take a sour turn. Baz could easily bottled up his emotions and explode, like he usually did but it seemed like he was moving past this without much hatred. As Baz continued to drive, they made small talk which was helpful for both parties.
"I have to show you something" He told her while turning into a neighborhood. It was far from Smurf's and Jessica never really went into this area of Oceanside, actually none of them had.
"Please tell me you didn't steal anything else" Jessica joked before realizing where they were. It was considered a ritzy part of town but not anywhere near Beverly Hills. Most of the houses had been built in the past couple of years but were still expensive, even in Cody standards. Of course, there had been older houses, but they had begun tearing them down in order to make newer ones. Narrowing her eyes trying to figure out exactly why they were there, she didn't have time to ask as Baz was pulling into a driveway. "Whose house is this?"
"It's ours" He said simply before turning the engine off. He got out of the car, slammed the door shut and started to walk towards the front door.
"Our house? You got us a house? On Bay Street?" She had only remembered the area because she lived with her friend Sabrina when Smurf kicked her out. Jessica had still been in the car but scrambled to get out. Baz hadn't said anything which meant he wasn't joking. "You're serious…Don't be an ass because I don't think it's funny"
"What? You can admit that you like it. It's not as close to the beach as mine but I thought it's something you'd like. Come on, let's go inside"
As she slowly walked up the driveway, Jessica took around the entire neighborhood. Most of the houses were brand new, suburban and craftsman style, far different than were the Cody's lived in Oceanside. It was powder blue with white windows and a small porch. While taking in her interesting surroundings, Baz already had the door open and waited for her to step inside.
"Just come in and check it out. You can yell at me later but at least give this a look" He told her while she looked like a weary cat. Jessica had no idea what to think but it was very strange to her that Baz was going out of his way like this. "I know it needs a lot of work but it's something we could work with"
"I can't believe this, or you actually" Once Jessica stepped through the doorway, she was met with a large, empty living room. The home had been two stories and looked smaller on the outside, but the inside was a different story.
The walls were simply white while the floors had been hard wood. Jessica turned her head in every direction while Baz shut the door but stood behind her. He had already looked at the place last week, so it wasn't anything new to him. It actually amused him because she had looked like a deer in headlights. There had been no furniture, so the area looked large, much larger than her small, one bedroom apartment.
"I'm…You've actually got me at a loss for words. Why did you do this?" She questioned, spinning in order to see him.
"Because I know you're not going to live in a house that Cath did. Besides, Smurf will be gone soon enough, and we can move on with our lives. We can finally be together Jess, no interruptions and nothing standing in our way"
"You didn't do stuff for her like this. You and Catherine lived with Smurf when Lena was born, you didn't' even have a house. Now you're going out of your way to do with for me, or us?" Baz simply nodded and her words which made her scoff. "Who knew you could be so romantic"
In all honesty, she wanted to cry tears of joy because this was something that she had only dreamed of. If she had ended up with someone other than Baz, it would have been fine, but she always wanted to live a normal life. All of her boyfriends were around the same type, with the exception of Javi as he had been one of the few that treated her right. Most of them had been addicts just like she had, or they were too good for her, as they weren't messed up in anyway. It had also been one of the few times that someone had done something like this for her as Jessica was more of a giver than a receiver.
"I have my moments" He told her while she stepped over to give him a couple of kissed. "I have to show you something else"
Leading her into a sperate room which could be turned into a bedroom or study, Baz moved over to one of the walls and pulled at it. Jessica watched quietly, not understanding what he was doing until she saw all the black luggage. "You hid all of the money in here?" She asked once he moved the piece of wall to the floor.
"Safest place I could think of. Trust me, no one knows about this place, not even Lena"
Shaking her head in disbelief, she started counting how many suitcases were hidden within the wall. Jessica obviously knew all about the money and the jewelry but the last place she thought it would be was in her possession, literally.
"What if Smurf decides to do some digging and finds out. All she has to do is look at records and she finds us. She'll come after you…And then me"
"She won't, trust me. You and I have everything in the palm of our hands right now. The ball is in our court and Smurf won't know what to do with herself after tomorrow night" Hesitating on his next sentence, he knew he'd get bitched at by Jessica the second he says it. "I dug up Javi's body, used Smurf's gun to plant a couple bullets and buried it back with him. I need you at Smurf's tomorrow because everything ends. She's going to jail for murder"
"Excuse me?" Jessica nearly choked on what she was saying out of shock. Baz had always thought by leaving her in the dark that he had been protecting her in a way, but it was also because he knew Jessica would throw a fit. The two of them were both opinionated and we are not afraid to tell each other exactly what they were thinking, but Jessica was more vocal. "So, you really want me to play Bonnie and Clyde? Baz, I know how that story ends and I really don't want me or you or us to end in the same manner"
"We're going to be okay; we've been okay since we started this whole thing. If Smurf were going to do something, she would have by now. Has anyone told you that you worry too much?"
"You really expect me to not worry? We stole millions from our Mother, and now I'm finding out that we are framing her for murder. It's not even just about us, it's about Lena, Pope, Craig, Deran, J, our baby. I'm always going to worry" Even though she wasn't going to admit it, Jessica was scared. They both knew what Smurf was capable of when she didn't' get what she wanted.
Baz hadn't responded to her because what ever he was going to say wouldn't make a difference. Jessica would always be set in her mind and there was no changing it. Jessica stepped forward, grabbed the zipper on the suitcase he was reaching for and slid it gently. Once he pulled it out completely, she peered inside to see the contents, hoping that it would reassure everything that was going on. It had been the case full of jewelry which sparkled back at her, she also couldn't believe how Smurf had kept it from them all these years. Reaching for a silver watch, she slid it on her wrist and looked at it.
"Keep it, it's not like anyone's going to know where it came from" Baz told her, referring to the Boys.
"Says the guy who stole it I'm sure" Moving away from their stolen gems, Jessica wanted to focus on the house to keep her mind from worrying. "By the way, I'm going to kick your ass the second we get outside"
He nodded his head in agreement, expecting nothing less from her. As she slipped out of the room, Baz began to put everything back in place. Jessica had moved over to the white and wooden staircase in order to check what was upstairs. Her flipflops had filled in the silence as she made her way and stood in the empty hallway to figure out where everything was.
Peeking her head into a random room, Jessica wanted it to be the main bedroom as the window on the opposite side of her overlooked the backyard. Walking over to see outside, she lifted the blinds to see a fenced in yard that wasn't too big but big enough for kids to run around.
"You know what I think we should do?" Jessica hadn't even heard Baz approach as she was lost in her thoughts. "We should just get married"
"I'm sorry? Did I just hear you say we should get married?" She asked while turning around to see him as he had been standing in the doorway, leaning against the door jam. "Are you just trying to give me high blood pressure or something?"
"What? No, I'm serious, I thought the answer was going to be different"
"Married? As in together for the rest of our lives. Baz…" By her shocked and surprised expression, Baz instantly regretted saying anything. "I'm sorry, I know that's not exactly what you were wanting but married? Are you serious?"
Shifting his eyes around the room, he cleared his throat before moving off of the wall. "No, this wasn't the way I was planning this to go"
"You're trying to kill me off so you can keep the money" Jessica joked, trying to lighten the situation but she knew that Baz wasn't in a joking mood at this point. "It's not that I wouldn't want that to happen, I mean I would love to marry you but…We don't need to rush into anything. Maybe at some point down the line but not right now. Do you understand?"
She knew how Baz was feeling because Deran would often give her the same vibe. All of the Cody's longed to have a simple life even though they loved the benefits of the life they were living now. It would have been a nice change of pace to see something so real, something heartfelt and something that everyone else had.
"I shouldn't be that surprised, Cath didn't want to marry me either when I asked her"
For a moment, Jessica had forgotten that he had asked her many years ago. She also turned him down but didn't know the reasons. "Maybe because you were always cheating on her, she knew what you did when you guys got together, I guessed she just ignored it as time when on"
Baz had always had a thing for strong willed women, and it showed in mostly everyone he had been with. When Julia had her act together, she never took no for an answer which obviously gave him a run for his money. Jessica wasn't afraid to share her mind, whether it was good or bad. Catherine stood her ground with him and Smurf which showed she was able to handle the situations thrown at her. Lucy knew what she wanted and would get it without protest. It was almost as if it kept Baz grounded and that he wanted someone to fight him on his decisions.
"I know you're trying to make things simple and normal but that's never going to happen, especially for us. We'll make it work but let's do this one step at a time" Once Baz would come to his senses, he'd see it the same way she did. "Even though Jessica Blackwell does have a ring to it, no pun intended"
As Jessica moved away from the window and over to him, she touched his shoulder gently and proceeded to go out into the hall. It was a small gesture of acceptance and to let him know that things were okay where they were at. Looking towards the other two rooms, her curiosity got the best of her, so she stepped into the smaller one.
Baz waited a moment before following after her. "What do you think about the place? Do you like it?"
"It's much bigger than my apartment and really different than what I'm used to. I'm sure once I decide to decorate, things will feel like home"
"So, we have a deal?" Even though Baz knew that Jessica would like the house, it was still up in the air if she would accept it or not due to all the money hidden downstairs.
Looking around the beige colored room, she nodded towards him before walking over to a door. Opening to it see what was inside, it had been a bathroom connecting to the other bedroom. It was the same set up that Craig and Deran had at Smurf's. That made her smile for a second while reminiscing on how close the Cody family used to be.
"It looks like I've got a lot of painting to do. You think coral is a good baby color considering we don't know the gender yet?" She turned around to face him to see what he thought. Before he could answer though, Jessica continued talking. "The baby will have this room since it's smaller and Lena can have the bigger one. What if she doesn't want to live here?"
"I'm sure she'll like it if you do then she definitely will. I have to thank you though, you really stepped up to help her since Cath's gone, just know I'm thankful for that"
Jessica had narrowed her blue eyes in disbelief after hearing him. "Wait a damn minute. First you get me house, then you give me this watch. Now you're telling me thank you? I swear to God if I'm in the Twilight Zone or a dream…"
Baz had to laugh at her constantly being surprised. She apparently had been on her A game with everything she was saying because it began to throw him into a mix of saying things he usually didn't do. Jessica smiled widely at his response then walked over to him.
"I have no idea how we got to this point, but I don't want to look back. I know that's probably cheesy to say but I feel like we're supposed to be here. You and I will make it out alive right?" When Jessica looked at him, the confident look in his eyes that everything will be okay was self-assuring despite her mind feeling differently.
"Everything's going to be okay, we'll make it out of this in one piece" Baz slipped his arm around her to pull him closer to her. The two of them against Smurf, with nothing holding them back was where both of them wanted to be.
"I just have one request…Can we get a dog?" Looking up at him, Jessica already knew the answer as he never was an animal person. "I've got the perfect name picked out, Boo Boo"
Hearing her say that nearly made him jump out of his skin. "Don't you dare name a dog after what you called me when we were kids"
"I'm already plotting it against you" She smirked knowing how much he hated it then and still hated it. "A deal is a deal Bazzy Boo. What time do I have to be at Smurf's tomorrow?"
