A/N: I don't own Harry Potter or any related characters

This fic is based on the song Leader of the Pack by The Shangri-Las, I also do not own that song either.

Warning: character death

"Is that Sirius' jacket you're wearing?" Hermione asked. Ginny nodded slowly as Luna joined them. They had arrived at Platform 9 and three quarters for the start of their seventh year, well, Hermione's eighth. The war had pushed things back a little, but they were all still here.

"Are you going riding with him?" Luna asked, her blue eyes sparkling. She leaned closer to Ginny, "or flying? Did they fix the bike after it got damaged?" Ginny shook her head.

"No, not anymore," she whispered, not meeting either of their eyes.

"How did you two even connect? I mean, I thought, after the final battle, we all went our separate ways?"

"I saw him at Honeydukes. He turned around and smiled at me. I mean, he was buying chocolate for Harry and I was getting a sugar quill. I know love at first sight is," Ginny blushed. "silly, stupid?"

"And you fell for him?" Luna asked, leaning in closer. Ginny nodded.

"Head over heels. I mean, I know he's older, that he's got a reputation that wasn't ever cleared. He was a war hero though, despite what they want to say. He did survive the final battle, that had to count for something?"

"What do your parents say?"

"Mum's, well, she was happy. She didn't seem to care about his past."

"And your dad?"

"I'm his little girl, no one's ever going to be good enough for me. He told me to find someone else, someone who... well, less dangerous."

"That rules out Harry," Hermione laughed. Ginny gave her a sad smile.

"Yeah, it does. Kind of rules out everyone I know. I told Dad that, that I loved him. He and Sirius had words, stupid words, yelling, screaming and then Sirius drove off," Ginny said, her brown eyes filling with tears.

"What happened?"

"It was raining and I told him not to go so fast, that it's a muggle bike and doesn't have all the protections on it... We hadn't gotten a chance to redo the charms, just rebuilt it, and I heard the tires squeal, and-" Ginny broke down sobbing. Hermione and Luna wrapped her in their arms.

"I don't know if he's hurt, if he's even alive. They won't tell me anything, I mean, I'm not family."

"Harry is. I'll get him to find out," Hermione promised, holding Ginny close. Ginny wiped her eyes.

"Even if he's alright, he's still a wanted criminal, still hasn't been cleared. They'll lock him away again!" Ginny cried.

"We'll do everything we can, Gin. I promise," Luna whispered. Ginny nodded, a sinking feeling in her chest that she would never see Sirius again.

"Any word?" Hermione asked, sliding up next to Harry. He'd spent most of the morning sending owls to find out what had happened to his godfather.

"It was bad, Hermione. They couldn't... They couldn't save him," Harry answered, holding out the latest returned letter. Hermione gasped softly.

"He's dead," Ginny whispered, appearing pretty much out of nowhere. She was still wearing Sirius' jacket, despite it being too big for her.

"I'm sorry, Ginny," Harry whispered, pulling Ginny into a tight hug. She hugged him back.

"Me too. I know how much he meant to you. It's my fault. If I'd made Dad see reason, if I'd just not listened to him..."

"Don't. Blaming yourself only makes it hurt worse, trust me, I know. I've blamed myself for so many things, so many people who didn't make it," Harry stated. "We're going to get through this. We'll get his name cleared, he'll be buried as the hero he was and not the criminal they want to pretend he is. Alright?" he asked, looking into Ginny eyes.

Ginny nodded slowly, allowing Harry to take her hand. She was numb, but he was right. They would get through this. She would get through this, and maybe someday she'd be able to feel love again, maybe one day she wouldn't be numb.
