Listening to the medic drone as he explained Dib's current condition to them, the adults all winced at the diagnosis.

"Is there anything we can do to help?"

"What I suggest is trying to create as calm an environment as possible around him. I'm worried less about the actual scratches on his body and more about the psychological effects of what happened to him. From what I can tell, the scratches are several hours old, leading me to believe they may have raped him back when Zim was still alive. Probably forced Zim to watch too. And not just one of them. He's got marks on both his upper and lower body."

Rose gasped and covered her mouth with her hand.

Looking away at those words, Purple winced. "C-Can I see him?" he asked, hoping the medical drone would let him into the room to speak with Dib, even if for only a few minutes.

The medic drone looked back at the door for a moment. "Perhaps for just a few minutes. But I think the checkup I just gave him might have stressed him out more than what's healthy for him. I...wouldn't recommend staying in there for long. The effects of the sedative may still be in effect, but they're not meant to hold over for longer than about 15 minutes." he said, stepping aside to allow Purple access.

Purple nodded at those words. "I don't have long anyways. This will be quick." he said before entering the room and closing the door behind him. "Dib?" he then said the other's name in an attempt to draw his attention to him.

Breathing heavily, Dib didn't really respond, his body still numb as he had taken to curling himself around his belly protectively.

Purple tried again nonetheless. "D-Dib?" he called out a second time, this time with more success.

Dib pricked his antennas forward slightly, their twitching the only acknowledgment that he could hear the other. "L-Leave...Leave me alone..." he was sobbing to himself, not wanting anymore contact with anyone.

"Dib...I-I want to give you something..." Purple said before pulling Zim's PAK out again and holding it close for a moment.

Opening his mouth to scream at him to go away again, Dib fell silent before he could even get the words out, his eyes growing wide at the sight of the PAK. For several long moments, he just stared at it. "Z-Zim's...Z-Zim's...How did you get that?!" he screamed at Purple, glaring, his eyes quickly becoming wet again as they filled to the brim with tears threatening to spill over.

Purple winced at his reaction. "I went back after everyone had left and ordered the Control Brain to give it to me…I-I thought you might want it..." he tried to explain without upsetting the other any more than he already was.

Dib could only hug himself tightly at that response, curling in on himself even more. "And for what?! Did you think it might be able to replace him?! That I'd forget all about Zim just because you brought it to me?!" he screamed at the other, his antennae slicked back completely now.

"Wha-? No! I-I thought you'd want it to remember him by... It's all that's left..." Purple offered it forward to him, hoping he'd take it. "All his memories are stored here..." he then said, tears stinging at his own eyes now as his fingers twitched against the PAK and he looked away.

"Well, I don't want it!" Dib lashed out at Purple and smacked it away, causing it to clatter against the floor. "All I want is Zim! His memories are no good to me if he's not here to remember them with me!" he pulled his knees to his chest and broke down, just wanting Zim back and nothing else.

As the PAK was knocked out of Purple's hands and bounced across the floor, something inside it rattled suddenly, drawing both Dib's and Purple's attention to it.

Antennas twitching at the sound of something rattling around inside of the PAK, Dib looked up for a moment at it lying in the middle of the floor.

Purple also looked at it oddly for a moment before he remembered what exactly was inside it. 'Oh no...' he thought before closing his eyes and looking away, a part of him wanting to reach out and grab it before Dib could.

After a moment of complete silence had passed between the two of them, Dib then hesitantly sat himself up enough to pull himself over towards the edge of the bed so he could retrieve the PAK, curious as to what could possibly be making the rattling sound. He had never heard anything like it when Zim had been wearing it. He picked up the PAK, ran a hand over the smooth paneling of it, and jumped when one of the compartments opened automatically. "Wh-What the-?" he began to say before reaching a hand inside. There was something jammed into the wiring. He pulled it out with some difficulty before staring at the small box in his hand for a few long moments. "What...What is this...?" he asked as he looked the small black box over carefully.

Recognizing the small box, Purple merely whimpered in response before closing his eyes, his antennas drooping.

Bringing up a shaking hand to open the box, Dib's eyes then grew perfectly wide at the sight of a silver-banded diamond ring inside. "Wh-What...is this...?" his eyes filled with tears again as he lightly ran a thumb over the ring's surface. It couldn't possibly be what he thought it was, could it?

Feeling worse than before, Purple looked away. "H-He got that for you...We all knew... He was going to wait to give it to you at the perfect time…P-Probably before you got caught..." he explained, his last few words coming out in a quiet whisper.

"B-But…N-No! This can't be happening! This must be some sort of nightmare!" Dib dropped the ring onto the bed in front of him and reached up his hands to tug at his antennas. "ZIM! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO LEAVE ME LIKE THIS?!" he screamed at the ceiling, breaking down completely now. "YOU PROMISED ME YOU WOULDN'T LEAVE! YOU PROMISED ME THAT YOU WOULDN'T DIE! YOU PROMISED ME! Y-You promised me..." his antennae quivered as he balled up in his spot and cried into his knees, not certain how much more heartbreak he could take in that moment.

Broken-hearted himself, Purple felt completely terrible now about everything that had happened. "I…I'm sorry, Dib..." he turned away, knowing he had to get back now or else something else bad might happen.

"IF YOU WERE REALLY SORRY THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TRIED HARDER TO SAVE HIM!" Dib now screamed angrily at Purple, glaring hatefully at him. "I'm all alone now because of you!" he brought his hands up to hide his face in, completely falling to pieces now as he shook his head. "It's not fair! He went and left me all alone again! I-I just want to die now!" he didn't think he could take any more heartbreak in his life, having already exceeded his limit at this point.

Antennas perking up at those words, Purple glared back at Dib angrily. "If you die, what do you think will happen to your smeets, HUH?! Are you honestly going to kill off the only living remnants of Zim before they even get a chance to live?!" he slammed his fists down on the end of the bed before staring Dib down, a dead serious look in his eyes.

"Get out of here! It's none of your damn business! So just get out of here and leave me alone!" Dib cried, antennas falling back to press flat against his head again. The last thing he needed in that moment was somebody to pick on him and tell him what he could and couldn't do.

Purple glared at him, able to tell Dib was becoming irrational again. "Not until I know those smeets are safe!" he said, not about to put it past Dib to pull a stunt like that after the condition they'd found him in originally. The hybrid wasn't in his right mind in that moment and he could clearly see how the stress of the situation was beginning to wear away at his mental state.

A/N: And there you have it for Chapter 159. =3 Until next time~
