"Don't you think this is going a little too far?" Luna asked, swinging her legs over the side of the wall. "I mean, yes, he was horrible to you, and yes, I can understand how you want to get something that seems like revenge, but this?"
"It's not your business, Loony. Besides, no one asked you to come."
"Just because no one asked, doesn't mean I wasn't going to come. It's your father, Barty. I mean, yes, you killed him, turned him into a bone, and hid him. Couldn't you just leave it that, that he'll never be found, that his disappearance will remain a mystery?"
"No. He needs to pay for what he's done," Barty stated, running his fingers through his dark hair. Luna watched him, she could see the questioning in his eyes, the debate with himself, that maybe she was right.
"Fine, let's go retrieve him, untransfigure him, leave his body for the crows. They'll pluck out his eyes, his guts, sounds painful enough to me," she said after a moment. Barty paused.
"Of course, you could set it up so you could watch the whole thing, maybe find a way to record it so you can see it over and over again, how utterly horrible his body suffered?" she added. Barty let out a slow laugh.
"You help me break out of Azkaban, follow me out here, try to convince me not to go through with my plan and then give me one so much more fitting, I don't know whether to hug you or punch you sometimes, my Luna. You've been my best girlfriend so far, always doing something nice, coming up with beautiful ideas like this one."
"I'd go with hug, they're so much nicer than being punched, don't you think?" Luna asked, tilting her head slightly.
"I wouldn't know," Barty muttered. Luna walked over to him and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. Slowly, she let him go, watching his expression go from puzzled to almost happy.
"There, now you've been hugged by someone who cares about you, someone who loves you. So, which would you prefer?"
"Hug you, definitely hug you," he stated, hugging Luna gently, his one arm still around her as they retrieved the bone that was once his father from its hiding place in a hallow tree. Barty smiled, kissing Luna's forehead.
"Now, let's go give the crows something to caw about, something to gather around and rejoice."
"A group of crows is called a murder," Luna commented, leaning her head against Barty's shoulder.
"Beautiful," he stated, crossing the grounds until he and Luna were safely outside the wards and could apparate away. He knew of a perfect place to leave the body, somewhere that it would be on display, somewhere it would have a meaning.
"What are we doing at the ministry?" Luna asked, looking around.
"Leaving my father to one thing he loved, rules and regulations and being too busy for his family," Barty stated, hovering them to the roof. There was a small landing there, just big enough for a person to stand. There wasn't a door leading inside.
"This is where we'll leave him?"
"Yes, this is perfect. They'll never look for him here and I can already hear the crows starting to caw, just listen Luna, do you hear them?" he asked, pulling out a small camera, one enchanted to record everything and magically send the resulting film to another device which he kept in his flat. He'd gotten the idea from muggles, maybe proving they had some value after all.
"I do," she agreed. Barty pulled out the bone, transfiguring it back to his father's perfectly preserved body. They left him lying there. As they apparated, Luna could hear the sound of wings already starting to arrive. A smile spread across her face knowing Barty had found some closure and she'd been there to help him.
