Warning: murder
Regulus never asked. He just cleaned the blood from the knives, washed Barty's clothing in hydrogen peroxide to get the blood out, and made sure to tell the aurors that Barty was with him.
The first body discovered was that of Regulus' father. The man had made Regulus' life a nightmare, short of disowning, something he threatened all the time.
The next body had been James Potter. That one had caused Regulus to pause. He remembered kissing James, how his body felt next to his. James' death caused a whirlwind of emotions. He was sad remembering what they'd had, but then again, James had broken his heart. James had left him, gone to that idiot girl Lily. Regulus had thought they had something special, apparently James hadn't felt the same.
The latest body, Evan Rosier, made Regulus laugh. He and Evan had been nothing more than friends with benefits, and even that as stretching it. They hadn't been friends, just two blokes who needed something the other could give. It had turned messy when Evan had decided he wanted more than what Regulus was willing to give. Regulus still remembered crying that night, in pain and embarrassed.
Barty had been the only person he could turn to. That had been the start of their relationship. It was so sweet of Barty, Regulus had to admit that. Barty wanted Regulus all to himself, wanted to make sure Regulus was happy.
All of Regulus' ex-lovers were dead now, and his father was dead too, that thought, that everyone who had ever dared hurt him was dead and Barty loved him enough to do that for him, that really did warm his heart. It was obvious he and Barty were meant to be and besides, Barty was out of people to kill, so maybe the murders would stop and they could live happily ever after without the aurors gracing their doorstep again?
