Author's Note: Just warning y'all that updates are going to be random and inconsistent. Around the end of May or beginning of June, I will be going to navy boot camp, so there will be a bit of a hiatus when that time comes. Funny, wanting to be in the navy is probably one of the reasons I got into Azur Lane. (The biggest reason is obviously the anime waifus, and if you haven't noticed by now, my favorite is Amagi. XD)

Chapter 3: Aftermath

Three days had passed since Gojira's attack on the Sirens. The monster's signature three rows of dorsal fins were poking out of the water as he was swimming slowly. He was surrounded by the ship forms of several kansen riggings that were keeping pace at a distance. The riggings belonged to a mix of Azur Lane and Crimson Axis kansen. These kansen were Hornet, Laffey, Helena, Javelin, Prince of Wales, Z23, Z1, Ayanami, Atago, Takao, Kaga, and Akagi.

They were all standing atop Akagi's deck, and they were joined by Amagi. None of the girls had taken their eyes off of Gojira's spines slicing through the water.

Hornet stood closest to the edge of the deck. "Any idea where the big guy's going? We've been following him for days."

Amagi stood silent for a moment, trying to read Gojira's intent. "He is trying to pinpoint the nearest Siren presence. There's so much around the world that it's difficult for him to tell."

Hornet turned to her in confusion. "But he didn't have a problem finding the Orochi."

"That's because those missiles it fired had unique energy signatures in comparison to the other Siren tech."

This time, Prince of Wales spoke. "It is certainly an amazing sixth sense he possesses. Who would've thought such a powerful creature existed."

Amagi smiled at that. "He's not the only one. There are other beings out there like him."

Javelin had a look of fear after that. "You mean there's more giant monsters that can flatten an entire fleet with ease?!"

Z23 had a slight glare. "I hope they won't become future threats to us."

Z1 responded to Z23's comment. "If they do, I doubt we would be able to do anything about it. That one wasn't even phased by the Sirens weapons and effortlessly annihilated their fleet."

Z23 nodded in agreement. "But I highly doubt the higher ups will understand just how powerful he is, even after our fleet's reports when they return to base."

Takao tightened a fist as she stared at the swimming titan. "It seems that conflict with Gojira is inevitable no matter how you look at it. Still, that power he displayed certainly proves he is the God of Destruction."

Amagi turned to them. "We must at least have faith our friends can convince the higher ups not to immediately order an attack on Gojira. He will not take kindly to that, and I will not be able to convince him to spare the ones that attack him."

Helena put her hand to her head. "I'm getting word back from Enterprise. High Command is sending a team of scientists to us. They left the base several hours ago transported plane so they can get here faster than by ship."

Wales turned to Amagi. "At least it's not an immediate attack on the creature. And with his presence here, it seems the Sirens are keeping to themselves for the moment."

Hornet turned towards the group with a smirk. "Sounds like we finally found something that even sirens are afraid of messing with."

Atago chimed in. "I don't blame them, it's not every day you encounter a god, and he destroys your most powerful weapons with ease."

Hornet nodded and looked to Amagi with a curious look. "Hey, you seem to be able to communicate with him, what's the big guy like?"

Amagi smiled at that. "Gojira is stubborn. He will meet any challenge head on. His personality is easy to understand, and he is far more intelligent than one would think of a creature like him."

Hornet looked back to the swimming beast. "So, he's a smart hot head."

Amagi stifled a laugh. "Yes, he really is."

Akagi had been silent all this time and finally decided to ask what had been bothering her. "Dear Sister, when you explained to us what had happened to you, you said you had to go wherever he went. What did you mean by that?"

Amagi sighed as she looked toward her. "What I meant was that I am only able to physically manifest within a short range of Gojira. If I get too far, I am pulled back into his conscience. The only way I can get farther is if he gives me more power to do so."

Akagi didn't like what she heard. It meant that the only way Amagi could come home was if Gojira gave her power to physically exist further away, or if he decided to stay near the Sakura Empire. However, from what she had gathered of the titan, he likely would not want to choose the latter so that meant he had to be convinced to do the former. Akagi stepped closer to Amagi with a pleading look. "Then convince him to give you the power. I want you to come home with us."

Amagi gained an apologetic look. "I'm sorry Dear Sister, I can't do that, not until my duty is finished."

Before Akagi could object, Kaga stepped in as she placed a hand on the former's shoulder. "Sister Amagi, what exactly is the duty Mothra gave you?"

Amagi's expression turned serious. "There is going to be a monster more dangerous than the Sirens in the future, and I have to make sure Gojira is ready and prevent him from having conflict with humanity. Unfortunately, I don't know how I can do any of that. He seems like he is already prepared for any danger and conflict is certainly going to be inevitable."

Wales had a look of worry. "Until a few days ago, I would not have believed there could be something more dangerous than the Sirens, whatever is coming, it should be something to worry about if even another creature as powerful as this 'Gojira' is concerned."

Takao nodded in agreement. "And the power Gojira possesses will be the biggest reason humanity will feel threatened by him, not to mention some factions wish to pursue the use of Siren technology."

Amagi's expression turned to worry. "If humanity isn't willing to change, he will bring it to its knees."

Hornet snorted. "You really think this big lizard could do that."

Akagi glared at the blond carrier. "Watch your tongue. That 'lizard' is one of our gods, he has reason to be respected and feared."

Hornet glared back and prepared to retort but stopped when she heard what sounded like jet engines in the sky. Everyone else noticed the noise to and looked for the source. Helena picked up a signal on her radio and put a hand to her head. "I'm getting a call. It's the plane transporting the team of scientists along with their escort HighCom sent."

Javelin had a worried expression. "Um, why do the planes look like they were built by Sirens?"

Amagi squinted her eyes. "They certainly look advanced, but it's clear that Siren tech wasn't used. Gojira would have already attacked if they were Siren."

There were three aircraft flying towards the fleet. Each one had angular and sharp designs. The one leading was smaller than the two escorting it. It had four wings, a small pair in the front and a bigger pair in the back. There were thruster engines built into the rear wings. The length from nose to rear was 18 meters. There was a blue stripe that went down both sides of the craft. GX-813 Griffon was printed on the side.

The escorts looked much more formidable, however. They were 25 meters long. Their wingspans were just as wide as the length. There were long pairs of fins angled upward and built around a set of thruster engines in the rear. Their armor was a light, almost white-grey color. Printed on the side was AMF AC-3 White Heron. The rear fins had a logo that appeared to be a monster's head.

The three aircraft began to circle around the fleet at a slow but steady pace. Helena, who still held her hand to her head, said, "They're requesting permission to land on the deck."

Akagi nodded. "Permission granted. We should be prepared to greet them."

Helena nodded as she looked towards the aircraft. "You have permission to land on the IJN Akagi's deck."

The reply from one of the pilots could be heard. "Roger that, USS Helena."

The three craft circled to the side opposite of the swimming leviathan. They slowly hovered over the deck and lowered themselves down on the landing gear wheels. On the two escorts, a door slid open just behind the cockpit and a set of steep stairs lowered down. Two pilots stepped out of each of the escorts, one female and three males. They were dressed in black suits with grey helmets. On the bottom of the lead aircraft, a circular hatch opened up and a ladder lowered down. Three people climbed down the ladder, and they all were clearly from the Sakura Empire from their physical features. The first one down was a man dressed in a black jumpsuit with grey armor. It almost looked like a sport biker's outfit. The man was easily in his mid-twenties. The second was an older man with a ragged beard. He wore glasses, brown dress pants, black dress shoes, white dress shirt, and a brown coat over the shirt. The last person was a woman in her early twenties with long black hair tied into a ponytail. She wore tan cargo pants, black boots, and a black shirt. She also had a pair of tan straps that were attached to her belt loops and went over shoulders.

The four escort pilots formed up on either side of the trio as they all stepped away from the craft. The woman and older man looked in awe at the three rows of spines slicing through water next to the ship as they walked towards the kansen. The man in uniform led the group and was the first to speak to the kansen with Akagi being at the front of them. "Greetings, I am Shinichi Ozaki of the Anti-Megalosaurus Force. These two are Dr. Ishiro Serizawa and Miki Saegusa of Monarch, the research branch of the AMF."

A Day Earlier, Azur Lane Base

"This concludes our battle report, sir."

Nagato was standing in front of a large screen alongside Enterprise, Queen Elizabeth, and Prinz Eugen. The screen was split into several smaller displays. In each display was a commander from each faction of Azur Lane and Crimson Axis. They were all processing the information the four kansen had told them. The carrier-battleship the Sakura Empire had unknowingly made for the Sirens along with another ship of the same class built by the Sirens themselves certainly sounded like they would have been the biggest threats to humanity in a long time. However, this news paled in comparison to what came after. A monster the size of a ship easily tanked the combined firepower of the two Orochi-class ships and their Siren escort fleet and even wiped them out with relative ease. The Sakura Empire commander had the most shock with the revelation.

The Sakura commander held a serious and fearful expression as he stared Nagato in the eyes through the screen. "Are you certain the monster you saw was Gojira?"

Nagato nodded. "Yes, it had the same characteristics as depicted in the legends, even to the destructive fire breath."

"And can you confirm the reports of your subordinates that IJN Amagi has somehow comeback and says Gojira is after the destruction of all Sirens?"

Nagato once again nodded. "As hard as it is to believe, it was indeed her. She says Mothra bound her to Gojira and that Gojira told her he was going to destroy all Siren technology."

The Eagle Union commander spoke up next. "And where is this Gojira now?"

Enterprise stepped forward as she pressed a few buttons on the console in front of the screen. "He is currently in the middle of the Pacific. He is traveling at slow pace. We have a fleet consisting of several ships from each of the four major factions, Eagle Union, Royal Navy, Sakura Empire, and Iron Blood. I'm pulling up the satellite feed now."

In the center of the screen, a display popped up and it showed a view of the fleet surrounding three rows of jagged spikes slicing through the water at steady pace. The commanders all looked in surprise and awe. The Sakura commander was the only one with a paled expression. "He can't have come back. Not again."

The Iron Blood commander had a curious look. "What are you talking about, Commander Tachibana?"

"This is not his first time surfacing. What I am about to reveal to you all, will show you the kind of threat we are facing."

Nagato had a look of surprise. "With all due respect sir, what do you mean threat? He saved us from the Sirens."

Commander Tachibana let out a sigh. "I know how many of you Sakura ship girls worship and idolize our gods, but not all of them are as great as many would want them to be. Gojira is one of those gods. I get that if he hadn't shown up, you girls would have fallen to the Sirens. However, that could have just been a one-off chance."

Tachibana paused as it was clear he was preparing to show something on the screen for everyone to see. A few minutes passed before several images popped up. They were clearly old. They were black and white images of a destroyed city. The devastation was terrible. Buildings were scorched or knocked down. Some bodies littered the ground.

"The year was 1954, during the first Siren war and after Humanity discovered the wisdom cubes. Eagle Union had been testing a weapon to use against the Sirens in the Pacific. This weapon they were testing had unknowingly woken something up."

Another image popped up. A familiar looking creature was standing in the middle of the destroyed city.

"They had woken up Gojira. The testing of the weapon had angered the beast and in response, he attacked the capital of the Sakura Empire mainland, Tokyo. The casualties were numerous, both among the dead and injured. However, that's not the worst of it. Gojira's attack had left many areas of Tokyo uninhabitable with high levels of radiation. Many people who were there during the attack would later die of radiation poisoning days later or end up growing cancer and dying from it years after that."

The kansen had looks of horror as more images started popping up of civilians with burns all over their bodies. There were people in hazmat suits standing next to them, attempting to treat them.

"In the following months, with the help of the Eagle Union and their weapon, we tracked him down and tried to kill it. However, every attempt was unsuccessful, and we eventually lost track of him and haven't been able to find him since. He had remained missing all those years, until now."

Prinz Eugen had a hand to her chin as the Sakura commander finished his story. "If that's the case, how have you managed to keep this a secret from the rest of the world? Surely the citizens would have told others about it."

Nagato stepped forward. "There weren't many survivors in the attack, so it was easy to keep them quiet. Instead of saying it was a giant monster that attacked, they put the blame on the Sirens. Am I correct, commander?"

Tachibana nodded. "That is correct. The government, at the time, didn't want to cause panic with the implications of another threat other than the Sirens. However, Gojira isn't the only monster we've been able to hide, in fact, Azur Lane isn't the only organization founded by the world's nations."

The kansen looked in surprise. Before any of them could say anything, the Eagle Union commander spoke up. "Yes, I believe that would be the AMF, they're the ones specifically created to deal with these monster threats and keeping said threats a secret from the rest of the world."

Tachibana nodded. "Yes, that's correct. Fortunately, over the years, the only monsters to have appeared have mostly been in isolated areas of the world on land where there's not much civilization."

The Royal Navy commander added. "And many of the ones they have found have remained dormant."

Queen Elizabeth interrupted them. "You mean you all knew giant monsters existed but have been keeping it secret from us and the citizens of each nation?"

The Eagle Union commander nodded. "Yes, it's standard protocol in the event the navy would have to collaborate with the AMF to deal with a monster threat in the sea."

Tachibana nodded. "And it seems it's finally time for that to happen. I've already contacted the AMF. They should have someone join this communication soon."

Suddenly, a display of a man with a mustache and wearing a brown officer's coat and hat appeared on the screen. The man had an almost angry demeanor. "This is Captain Gordon of the AMF. We have a bigger problem on our hands than anticipated."

Tachibana was the one who responded first. "What do you mean?"

The captain put up a world map with multiple red dots appearing in almost every country in the world. "Godzilla's awakening has triggered a chain reaction among the dormant kaiju. They're all starting wake up to in response to him and we're already tracking a few making a beeline towards him."

The Sardegna Empire commander had a confused look. "What do you mean Godzilla?"

The Eagle commander answered. "It's the English translation of Gojira."

The Iron Blood commander had an angered look. "What should we do about these creatures? This many waking up will surely make it impossible to hide from the public."

Nagato stared directly at the display of Commander Tachibana. "If the legends are true, then those monsters going after Gojira will be challenging him for his rule. We should at least leave him be and let him deal with them and any Sirens he comes across."

The Northern Parliament commander gained a look of amusement. "Haha, are you suggesting we let a monster fight this war for us?"

Nagato frowned at that. "No. I'm simply saying use Gojira as an ally."

Enterprise shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I can't agree with that. It's already been made clear Godzilla isn't just a threat to Sirens. You saw those images of what he did to your city."

Nagato gained a look of anger. "He saved us! Not only that, but not even the Sirens' most powerful weapons could hurt him. What can a kansen do against the God of Destruction?"

Prinz Eugen stood up from the chair she had been lounging in. "She does have a fair point. Not even the strongest battleship kansen could hope to even phase him. Unless we have something more advanced, we don't stand a chance."

Queen Elizabeth nodded. "Yes, this Godzilla creature is a true menace, but I can't think of anything we have that could hurt him."

Gordon adjusted his hat. "The AMF has been developing a new type of anti-kaiju weapons for some time now. They're currently testing out a few prototypes against a few of the smaller and weaker kaiju. If they work, then production will begin immediately. In the meantime, the higher-ranking officers have seen fit to send a team over to the fleet near Godzilla to study him."

Nagato let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Captain."

Gordon smirked and made a wink. "No need to thank me, Sweetheart."

Before Nagato could respond, Gordon's display cut out. Tachibana let out an annoyed sigh. "Ignore that. Captain Gordon is known for his lack of manners."

The Eagle commander looked to Enterprise. "Enterprise, inform the fleet that the scientists are coming. Alright ladies and gentlemen, I believe this meeting is finished for the time being."

The commanders of the other factions said their goodbyes and ended their connections. Tachibana was the only one that had stayed.

"Could you girls please give me and Nagato a moment please."

The other three kansen bid their goodbyes and left the room. Nagato sighed and her fox ears drooped. "I feel that you should have told many of us about Gojira's attack on Tokyo."

Tachibana let out a deep sigh. "Believe me, I wanted to, but the higher ups wanted it kept secret so that you ship girls would focus on the fight against the Sirens rather than the possible reappearance of Gojira."

Nagato nodded in understanding. "I know that. Anyways, how's little sister Yuri?"

Tachibana smiled a little at that. "She's currently pursuing a career as a reporter actually. She often asks how you and Mikasa are doing."

Nagato's ears perked up. "Sometime soon, we should visit."

Tachibana nodded. "Yes, she would like that a lot. I'll see if I can arrange for you and Mikasa to have a few days off for a visit."

Nagato nodded as she smiled as well. "I would like that, but could you do the same for Mutsu as well? I would like for her and Yuri to meet."

Tachibana nodded again. "Yes, I should be able to."

"Thank you and goodbye, father."

"You're Welcome and goodbye, Little Nagato."

Tachibana's display cut out and the screen went black. Nagato sighed deeply and turned towards the door. She closed her eyes. "Please Gojira, don't turn against us like before."

Author's Note: This chapter took way longer than I had intended. Anyways, how many of you recognize characters from the Godzilla movies? Anyone like the idea of Commander Tachibana from GMK being a father figure to Nagato and Mikasa and the two of them being big sister figures to his daughter, Yuri? The fleet surrounding Godzilla is obviously inspired by the scene in Godzilla 2014 after his first appearance.

Also, the first author's note of this chapter was the first thing I wrote and outdated so I'll give an update on the navy stuff. If I qualify for the job I'm wanting, I won't be leaving for basic until September, so I'd have all summer to write a few more chapters.
