"Shade You're awake!"
When he heard the nurse's shout, memories of two lives started flooding his brain. One was of his life on earth, and the new ones were of Shade life in the pokemon's world. The huge amount of memories and unexpected events overloaded his senses and sent him into shock, causing him to faint again.
When he opened his eyes again, he was still laying in the same hospital bed, but this time he knew who he was. He was Mike and Shade, two lives merged into one, he was the 14 years old that got his life torn apart and killed by the professor, and he was the 26 years old that lost his life trying to get some excitement. He was still trying to figure out his new self and life when he heard nurse Joy's voice beside him.
Joy: "how are doing Shade"?
Shade: "well, I am alive which is
much better than expected"
Nurse smiled and said: "it was really a miracle, you were declared dead 3 times while we were trying to save you"
Shade was shocked but considered his state right now, it was literally a miracle that brought him to life again. Shade then said: "what happened to my father?"
Nurse joy expression turned into a sad one and said: "sadly we were not able to save him, we found what seems to be remainings of his burned corpse, but beside that we couldn't find anything, officer Jenny and professor Rowan are now investigating what caused these wild pokemons to attack your farm in the middle of the night, hopefully they will have some results soon"
Shade was shocked, of course if the professor is investigating, it will be wild pokemons that attacked. but he knows better, he knows it was professor Rowan's pokemons, his more mature side also told him that the professor also knows that he recognised them, so he won't be alive for much longer after he leaves the hospital, or if he opened his mouth while in it for that matter exposing the professor.
Shade just nodded his head as a reply and asked the nurse how long until he can leave the hospital.
Nurse joy told him: "it will be at least a couple of days, your heart and lungs have stabilised thanks to the chancy egg solution we have injecting you with in the period you were out, and your ribs can heal on their own with some medications, we just need to monitor you for 2 extra days to make sure you have stabilised enough, after that you can leave"
Shade nodded to the nurse and thanked her, and as she left his room, he started thinking about what he could do. First of all he has to escape the region as fast as possible, but where he could go and how will he get there. He got out his poketch and went into the bank's app in order to check his father's saving account, which thankfully his father gave him access to in case something happens to him, he found 200,000 pokedollars there which was a good amount, at first he thought about going to some secluded island like alola or the orange island, but he dismissed that idea completely, his money won't last him a lifetime, and a part of him already wasted a 26 years life doing nothing of importance, and he did not want to repeat that. He then thought about going to kalos, as it was the farthest major region from sinnoh, but he then dismissed the idea, because for a guy that spent all his life loving on a secluded farm, the region of big cities just doesn't fit him.
After much debate with himself, he decided on going to Hoenn, even if it was the closest region, their officials were not seeing eye to eye with sinnoh's officials, and it was a known fact that their professor hates professor Rowan, so there isn't any fear of Rowan reaching him there.
He quickly got on the web and booked himself a ferry to Hoenn in 3 days, as he wanted to escape from the professor as soon as possible.
His next order of business was to figure out what he wanted to do once he got there, but as he started to think about that, exhaustion started to overtake him. And the nurse walked in declaring that it's time to take his medications, after he took them, his mind decided to give up and call it a night, and he fell asleep.
He woke up in the next morning, looking at the time he was surprised that he slept almost 18 hours, guess he was really exhausted. He then ringed the bell intended to call the nurse and waited for her to show.
Nurse joy showed up with a beautiful smile on her first and greeted him as her usual self
Joy: "Good morning Shade, hope you're feeling well"
Shade: "good morning to you as well, I am definitely better thanks to your treatment. I wanted to ask you if I am cleared to leave the bed and move around the hospital, I really hate to keep laying around"
Joy: "yes sure Shade, just don't leave the hospital and if you start to feel fatigued return to your room and call me"
After that he started walking around the hospital to clear his mind and thought about what he wanted to do in the future, of course he wanted to become a trainer, not only to stick it to the professor that denied him his journey, but also to be able to one day get his revenge on the professor. But that was easier said than done, mainly because no one would give a starter for a kid coming from a different region, and any good pokemon to start with from a breeder will cost him more than he has. So he needed a temporary solution while he figures out the path to be a trainer. And the logical choice would be to find a job doing the thing he has done most of his life, and that is breeding pokemon, so he opened the poketch and started sending messages to any breeder looking for help in the Hoenn region.
During the Next Day, he was assured that he will be able to leave in the afternoon after his last checkup, and he turned his mind to the last orders of business in the region, which were first: to get away from the town today as quick as possible, so he quickly called the Staraptor transportation company and booked a flight to Sunyshore city. And finally he needed to withdraw all of his remaining money. So he made an appointment with the local bank.
In the afternoon, he was stretching his legs outside of the hospital door with his poketch on his hand as it was his only possession remaining after the destruction. And made his way to the bank to withdraw his money, after that he met with the Staraptor that is supposed to carry him with his trainer, and forked the 5000 pokedollars journey fee, and as he flew he took a final look at his childhood town, and swore to return here after he defeated the professor.
In the middle of the way, he turned back and noticed a certain Honchkrow had been following him for a while. He laughed as he thought to himself: "the professor must really underestimate my ability to recognise his pokemon". Then he thought about the situation and shouted to the Staraptor Trainer:" i will give you 5000 extra dollars to take a slight detour above Eterna city and lose that stupid Hunchcrow. The trainer looked back, smiled and told him to hold tight as His Staraptor increased its speed by a lot.
He reached Sunyshore city in the night, forked the extra 5000 dollars, and entered the first motel he saw, and booked a room for one night. And he immediately went to sleep quickly because he was really exhausted from the trip, and the ferry was leaving early in the morning.
The next morning found him heading through Sunyshore city towards the docks. He really was not interested in anything the city would offer. He quickly found the ferry and showed the guards his ticket on the poketch. And border the ferry heading to Hoenn.
While setting waiting for the ferry to get going, he heard the captain's voice behind him calling for him
"Hey kid, what's your name"
"the name is Shade"
"And your last Name?"
"Why does it matter ?"
"I like to know the people that travel with me on the ferry"
That's when shade was faced with a predicament, he did not want to use his old last name as connects him too much to his past, and besides he was now a new person with 2 merged lifes. So he tried to make up a last name on the fly, that is when he remembered a myth from the earth, about a bird that rises from the ashes to become one of the most powerful creatures. That was when he told the captain.
"It's Phoenix, Shade Phoenix"
