"I know you like playing dirty but this is just sick Ingram." Seething, Ava turns to glare up at the fight, not being able to spare a glance at the boy before her disintegrating, shattering, shards of glass come crashing down to the ground as she coughs crimson coating the blade before her.
"Please as if you can talk about playing dirty…" Smugly, the male sneers, his warm breath brushing against her cheek as pained gold glare into a pair of sick sadistic yellow. Annoyed, Ava pushes herself off him, ignoring the stinging sensation throbbing through her form, seeing the ruby red stains on her shirt. She cradles her wound, furrowing her brow at the man before her having dropped down from the roof. The male has chestnut-brown hair with a scarred gold glaring into Ava's own similar shade. He wears a long sleeveless coat jacket revealing his tattoos marred upon his muscular arms, wearing some baggy trousers, and adjusting his coal-black gloves. His hair is tied into a low ponytail with the moon glinting down upon the two.
"That was low even for you." Seething, she scowls, using the back of her hand to wipe the red river descending down her cracked lips, poison, venom laced in her tone. She stands glaring at the smirking male before her.
"As if you can…" Disgusted, he sneers making her yellows twitch at the sheer nerve of him.
"Is that all you're going to say. No witty one-liners?" Smirking, she tries to remain composed, flaunting almost at him, stretching her arms out, her blade dangling down into her open palm.
"And waste them on scum like you? Please as if." Hollowly, he sneers diving at her raising his blade to the high heavens, the heavy ring of metal echoes as a blade of silver slams against a blade of pitch black, each blade having an emblem of wings upon them. The hilt of the blade begins to glow, their wavelengths flowing through them conducting through the metal as the sheer power of the lengths tosses them both back, causing them to go high into the air.
Snarling, Igram slams his fist down on the roof tiles, cracked tiles toss themselves off the roof as he messily brushes them aside, his fists bare bloodied, bruised, a cracked crater soon forming from the sheer power of the punch, steadying him. On the other hand, Ava allows the lengths of the blades to propel her back, using the momentum to flip herself over, crouching down, collecting herself upon the roof staring at her brother on another tiled roof.
"Showoff." Ingram sneers scowling at her only to be met by her still silence.
"Don't ignore me!" Maddened, he roars raising his voice charging at her. But she simply scowls as the two clash blades, sparks spewing out of their blades from her brother's blade smashing down upon hers making her grimace at the sheer strength, the sheer power of the blade. While she easily dodged his powerful strikes, her eyes widen when hearing the crisp crunch of a fist slamming into her. She hadn't taken account for his fighting style, she had forgotten his freestyle of sorts. Seething, she grimaces at the waterfall of ruby red descending down her bruised bloodied nose, feeling the searing stinging sensation course through her face, her head in hands making him smirk. He lunges at her, grabbing her shoulders, slamming his knee into her face tossing her to the side making her scream, seething cradling her bloodied face, glaring daggers at her smirking brother.
"I said…" Scowling, he kneels down, crouching before her roughly grabbing her by her stray stands, seething, sneering down her neck, once more feeling his warm breath brush against her neck making her shudder scowling up at her brother.
"DON'T IGNORE ME!" Raring, he slams her face into the roofing tiles, ruby red splattering out of her broken dented nose making her seethe, digging her nails dig deep into the roof tiles, grinding her teeth together dealing with the pain coming from him slamming her head into the roof over and over before…
"Why aren't you fighting back!? You were a god, a weapon, a diety! We were heroes to them, saviors, warriors! Now look at you…motherhood has made you weak sister." Scowling, he whispers snarling at her, pride laced in his tone, making her wince when he grabs hold of her hair once more tugging at her stray strands making her grimace at her bloodied roots, trails of ruby red descend down the side of her temple.
"And power has made you mad." Weakly, she whispers harshly only to met by the swift slam of air as her head slams against the cracked tiles below, feeling debris dig deep into her open wounds.
"It has made me a god! It has made me live up to the title given to me, something you stained, smeared…while you settled. I moved upwards, while you forgot your purpose, I remembered mine. Our oath, our promise, our vow to her." Pained, Ingram declares, sorrow laced in his tone, his glinting gold glaring into her own as she feels his fingertips, his claws dig deep into her scalp making her hiss.
"You don't have to do this you can be…you could be so much more." Wincing, she attempts to explain croaking it out only then for her gold to narrow noting the church of sorts in the background, sensing something…she notes the numerous blue souls in the church.
"I am nothing without her!" Enraged, he cries his voice cracking to the high heavens as he finishes his angry assault standing up. She shakily places her palms flat on the uneven roofing before her, coughing crimson, seeing streams of raw red descend down her pale features creating a pool of crimson below.
"Ingram…" Weakly, Ava whispers, seeing the tears threaten to fall from him, her heart aching when seeing the burn scar marred into the flesh on his eye.
"You betrayed her, betrayed us…We were gods once sister, we were heroes, we were hope for them, we still are and yet you wish to rot away to be forgotten. I however do not. I refuse to be forgotten." Firmly, he whispers ominously, his hands shaking into fists as he raises his hand to the air, a familiar sword appearing before him, his fingertips coil around the hilt of the blade just as her gold widen when seeing within the same church that had tons of souls within now having nothing more than one lone one with two familiar souls approaching, making her heart drop in horror…
Shit! Maka! Soul!
"I got to get to them but if I do…" Ava furrows her brow at Ingram, hunched over, his neck twitching as she hears the crisp crunch of bone-breaking alarming Ava. He seethes, drawing out his own blade, turning towards the church alerting Ava. She feels a sudden shift of weight in her grasp, her fingertips curl around her blade scowling, glaring daggers at her brother, feeling her blood boil, burn, bubble. He can't go near them he'll kill them, he'll kill them all. Even the one who took all those souls she's got to distract him but she can't leave Maka and Soul alone with that thing, it took so many souls, there's something off with that soul. She has to do something. She has to!
"So you finally raise your blade to me." Frowning, Ingram gold glance behind him at her.
"You…will not hurt them." Ava scowls.
"And you think you can stop me?" Amused, Ingram sneers chuckling.
"I will do what I must to protect my students." Ava dictates.
"We'll see about that." Cooly, Ingram sneers scowling as his lax features flicker, turning sharper, demonic. He roars, stretching his arms out as he wraps his arms around his form, curling in on himself. Ava scowls, her grip tightening around the hilt of her blade. She closes her eyes focusing, pushing her wavelength into the sword hearing its humming melody flow through her. She focuses, crouched down, ready for the barrage to come. Screeching, Ingram roars as Ava hears the swift slick sound of metal ringing seeing the coat of feathers draped over him, coil around him almost as if he were a cacoon. He stretches his now feathered limbs out, screeching, roaring when he raises his head, revealing his beak for the world, firing blade after blade at her but she simply dives forward, straight ahead.
Ingram may have his feathers for an all-out attack but there's one bit he never hits. Smirking, Ava sees the path ahead, right in the middle as he continues screeching, screaming, shouting demonically to the high heavens, continuing his barrage of metallic feathers impaling the rooftop before him, seeing some loose feathers of metal impale the cityscape below, her ears ring when hearing the sharp screams of those caught in the crossfire, closing her eyes pained at the sad fate of the victims below. But she continues forward, refusing to falter from it. she has her sword draped over her back, she ignores the sharp sting of slits forming from the knife blades knicking her skin creating small slits oozing out red rivers but they swiftly shut themselves up as she lowers her blade, aiming low then…
Screeching, Ingram cries out as he is thrown backwards, the swift skyward strike causing the creature to come crashing into the building behind his wings flail, flimsily before reverting back into his human hands bloodied, beaten, bruised. He groans pinned to the brick wall of the house, trying to revert to his normal form. Quickly, Ava uses this chance, getting out her phone.
"Come on! Come on!" She curses pleading for him to answer as she sees the ruby red stains of his feathers begin to close up. He reverts, panic flows through her veins at the sight unaware of the beady balls of black hovering above her, their eyes popping out watching her.
"What?" Stein's voice rings out as she scowls when he reverts to his human form, diving at her, raising his blade bashing against her own.
"Stein hey, need a favour." Casually, Ava smiles at him making Ingram's eye twitch roaring only to cry out as she swiftly slashes at his arm.
"Ava?" Stein furrows his brow at the scream as Ava stares stunned when hearing the heavy ring confusing her, her brow furrowed when feeling her blade hit something hard, something metallic almost.
"We got a situation." Scowling, she reveals jumping back slamming her palm down on the rooftop tiles confusion laced in her tone.
"A situation aren't you in Italy?" Stein argues as he roars, raising his blade to the soaring sky slamming it down, the two blocking, countering, and deflecting the blows the two share.
"Yep, demon sword." Ava grunts wincing when feeling the sharp sting of the blade pierce her side.
"What?" Ava hears Stein's surprised exclaims as she slices at him only to frown further when meeting the heavy ring of her blade's vibrations from slashing at them. What is going on? Ava ponders perplexed.
"If I'm right then Soul and Maka are in trouble." Ava answers as she drops down, kicking, tripping Ingram hisses as he comes crashing down to the floor.
"And you can't deal with it? Weren't you send there to handle it?" Stein points out unaware of her grunts as Ingram's head comes crashing down only to meet her knee, crimson sprouting out of her nostrils.
"I've got my hands full right now. Could sue your helo you know?" Scowling, she slams her hand down on his head, slamming his head into the rooftop, hearing the crisp crunch of bone echoes throughout Italy.
"You expect me to go abroad to save some kids." Stein scowls sighing tiredly as she stands up, reeling her foot back and smashing it into his head, the crimson sprouting out even more, ruby red descending down staining the rooftop below.
"Your students." Sharply, she snaps at him as she tosses her brother to the side, her fingertips digging deep into his stray strands of brown, throwing him to the side. He comes crumbling down, trying to steady himself, trying not to fall as he clings to the rooftop.
"And why would I do that?" Amused, Stein chuckles unaware of her smirk. She glares down at her brother, his beady gold looking up into her glowering gold, a sadistic smirk upon her lips. Her golds gleam glinting amused as she raises her foot, slamming her heel into his fingertips clinging to the gutter making him cry out in agony, unaware of the bloodied balls hovering above, closing in, spikes spewing out.
"Ava? Ava!" Stein calls out as a sharp spike of black impales the phone cracking it, small shards comes crashing down as Ava falls flat to her knees, numerous sharp spikes impaling into her side, spikes striking all over her body as crimson comes crashing out of her mouth making her brother smirk. He props himself up from the rooftop smirking at Ava whose blurry black vision begins to turn fuzzy. She comes crashing down in a pool of crimson, her ears ringing unaware of Stein shouting, calling out to her, hearing nothing but the footsteps approaching. She winces once more when feeling her hair be grabbed, feeling her brother's bloodied breath brush against her ear, smelling and tasting nothing but iron and copper.
"I evolved sister something you should take a page out of…" She hears her brother's fleeting farewell making her sigh slumping her shoulders saddened, a wave of disappointment flowing through her when watching him depart.
"To think the bonded blade would walk into the fray and here I thought he was all hers. Still, it will be good to see how long Crona can last against her…" Ominously, the woman whispers smirking smugly. She sits upon her broom behind her the moon grins eerily at the sight before them. The woman's yellows glance over at the bird perched upon her broom as the two silently watch the fight below.
"L-Lady Ava!" Mystified, Maka gawks at the sight of the bloodied woman, her greens widening when seeing the splatters of crimson coating her shirt. She stands tall, unfazed by the ruby red splatters.
"Apologies for being late, I was held up by some business." Politely, Ava informs the two as she stands protectively in front of them furrowing her brow at the boy before her.
"A-Another girl? A-A Woman…" Scared, Crona's teeth chatter terror laced in their tone.
"So you're the demon sword interesting…" Humming, Ava whispers stretching her hand out as she feels the shift of weight plop into her hand.
"L-Lady Ava Soul is…" Scared, Maka begins as Ava feels her fingertips flex around her blade.
"Right. Maka keep your hands over the wound apply pressure understand?" Sternly, she commands Maka when seeing his cut, seeing the crimson ooze out of him.
"U-Understood!" Maka nods her head, her hands pressing against the wound.
"Good." Ava nods her head satisfied only then to frown when Crona darts towards her, slamming their blade down upon Ava's blade.
"Y-You're like me." Shakily, Crona smiles sparks spewing out of their clashing blades
"I would prefer if you didn't compare yourself to me." Politely, Ava pushes Crona back.
"I-I'm sorry I know I'm not as pretty as you. I don't know how to deal with it, Ragnarok sc-" Crona begins.
"And I really don't care." Curtly, Ava interrupts startling Crona as she slams her palm onto Crona's stomach, sparks spewing out of her fingertips making Crona cry out in agony as she watches Crona be thrown to the side.
"Ah it hurts stop it! stop it! AHHHHH! STOP PLEASE! YOU'RE HURTING ME! YOU'RE HURTING ME! I can't deal with it! I can't! I can't!" Pained, Crona cries out as beads of black hover above alarming Ava.
"So that's it…interesting." Ava whispers seeing spikes spew out making her scowl, her hand darting towards her torso, making sure not to make that mistake again. This is where he got his blood from.
"Professor Stein!" Suddenly, a coal-black blade pierces through the door making her turn to the door.
"About time you showed us." She scowls at the two.
"If he's here then that blade must be…" Maka whispers stunned as the black blade that had pierced the door which was kicked open by Stein soon shifts into Spirit his back turned to his little girl.
"Your papa has arrived." Proudly, Spirit declares making Ava sweatdrop.
"Really you're going with that line?" Unimpressed, she calls out to Spirit turning to see some strange creature burst out of Crona begins beating him.
"Yeah what's wrong with it?" Defensively, Spirit scowls at her.
"Well papa for one also you had more than an hour you could have come up with a better line than that?" Truthfully, her eyes narrow at him.
"Shut up!" Saddened, Spirit screams.
"Oh also, why the hell is Spirit here?" Sharply, she demands from Stein looking Soul over.
"To save your hide." Spirit snaps at her.
"It was lord Death's order." Stein tells her making her groan, slumping her shoulders as the creature does some sort of strange pep talk with Crona.
"He has no death scythes back there though!" Harshly, she hisses making Maka's eyes widen at the fact.
"It was the only way he'd let us go." Stein sighs.
"Of course he blood would give up one of his death scythes the idiot." Seething, Ava's grip tightens around the hilt of her blade.
"Professor Stein is Soul alright?" Anxious, Maka asks Stein.
"The wounds very serious if we don't get him treatment soon he might not make it." Stein tells Maka.
"Something's wrong…This is too easy, then again he isn't kishin yet." Ava notes.
"He isn't?" Surprised, Maka exclaims.
"No. He's close though…" Stein's green narrow.
"The grim repeater has sent his best meister armed with death scythe this should be interesting…" Amused, the wicked witch from above remarks.
"Time to end this." Ava remarks, flexing her fingertips sparks spewing out of them.
"Damn she scrambled up your brain good. Get a hold of yourself Crona! We can't take another hit from her soul wavelength!" Panicked, the creature grabs hold of Crona's head shaking it as Crona groans.
"There are stars and planets floating around me I don't think I can handle astronomy right now." Distressed, Crona cries at the stars spiralling around them.
"Astronomy is a lot more easy to deal with than death moron. So suck it up and come to your senses already!" Angrily, the creature barks at Crona.
"Say goodnight." Ava snaps feeling her fingertips brush against her blade humming as it begins glowing a light bluish light with tints of purple. She slams the blade down, releasing a wave of energy similar to Crona's attack, Maka notes as it hits Crona, making Crona cry out to the high heavens as black blood splatters to the ground.
"Needles again?" Alarmed, Maka gasps at the sight.
"No it's over now." Stein assures her as Ava slumps her shoulders exhaling tiredly.
"So much for round one. It looks like I have a lot more experimenting to do." Tutting, the witch mutters.
"You don't say." She perks up at the flutter of wings turning to smirk at the bird by her side.
"Well, well look who decided to visit. You're lucky my snakes aren't peckish you were meant to distract her." Irritated, she snaps at the unfazed bird.
"And you're lucky I haven't decided to consume you myself besides I took care of her." The bird asserts angrily flapping its wings.
"Clearly you didn't." The witch gestures below making the bird scowl down at the sight of her about to swoop down to strike only to falter when…
"AAAAHHHHH!" Screeching, Crona cries out to the high heavens, spikes spewing out of their body as they are thrown up and down, side to side.
"What's going on?" Maka whispers shaken at the sight before her.
"Soul rejection."
Stein answers.
"What are you doing?" Spirit calls out watching Ava slowly approach.
"Knocking him out it's best that way for all of us." Strictly, Ava states the fact of the matter.
"Imagine what I could find in that body of his, that blood would be interesting to look at…" Sadistically, Stein smirks at the thought.
"Seems your little guinea pig is crying." Mockingly, the bird bellows at her.
"Seems so…oh well soul protect release." The witches yellows narrow as waves after waves of raw red energy emits into the open air.
"A-Another soul I can…sense it!" Stunned, Maka gasps at the sudden spike of soul lengths.
"I feel it to, it's a witch." Stein identifies.
"Of course a witch would be here." Stein take Soul and Maka out of here. Annoyed, Ava clicks her tongue.
"I can handle it." Stein frowns.
"That the witch's soul up there? But how? I should have felt a soul like that before. It's incredibly strong." Shaken, Maka whispers.
"Soul protect, it's advanced magic not all witches can use it. They create a barrier that can hide their soul's wavelength. She's powerful, all the more reason for you guys to leave." Ava hints.
"Hey I'm here too you know, you're not the only death scythe!" Spirit calls out making Ava's eye twitch.
"If you really were her father, you'd know her safety is top priority. Look those two are my responsibility. We don't have time to waste especially with Soul's condition." Coldly, she reminds the group.
"But lady Ava!" Maka furrows her brow conflicted.
"Stein." Scowling, Ava turns to him.
"Alright. What should I tell Death?" Stein questions her.
"Leave him to me." Ava asserts.
"So that's the soul of a real witch mama defeated something like that in order to turn papa into a death scythe." Maka whispers.
"Pathetic. Crona is such a weakling. I'll have to punish him later. Snake, snake cobra, cobra…but before I go I'll punish you two. Won't that be fun? Vector Arrow!" Annoyed, the witch declares as she does her chant, waving her arms about as coal-black arrows with a purplish tint to them form from behind her, firing down at the group below.
"What? Lady Ava you can't!" Horrified, Maka cries out to her teacher.
"Maka I want you to look at Ava's soul." Stein orders her.
"Her…soul?" Confused, Maka furrows her brow at the thought.
"You saw it before didn't you? You saw how strange it was." Stein notes.
"It's flickering between blue and purple it's definitely a human soul but it seems…" Maka furrows her brow not quite sure what to make of the soul, it seems almost stitched together or…bruised.
"Warped…" Stein answers.
"Yes! How did…!?" Maka gasps turning to her teacher.
"That is the soul of the bounded blade." Stein says to Maka.
"So…she's like the demon sword…" Maka whispers, a shy shudder crawling down her spine at the thought.
"Quite impressive although I can't help but wonder the raw power you have when acting as death's scythe. I have heard legends of such raw power a shame you can't show it off more…." Mockingly, the witch smirks down at Ava.
"There is no need for it." Ava asserts furrowing her brow.
"I'm sure. I just dropped by on a little errand who'd have thought I'd run into the bound blade. Quite daring for you to show your face after everything…not to mention bumping into the DWMA's legendary meister and death scythe too what an unexpected pleasure to meet not only the original death scythe but the newest one. What happened did your little husband get tired of your nicks and scratches? Or perhaps he saw how terrifyingly powerful the soul resonance between gods can be." Sardonically, she offers making Ava grimace, her hand darting up to her neck, feeling the faint bumps.
"I am no god." Angrily, Ava snaps.
"So much like a god escaping their responsibilities. It's not like you've left a whole coven behind or anything…this is why I prefer science. You don't rely on any imaginary heroes. While I love to stay and play with you kids a little longer I'm afraid I can't. Perhaps we can all play another time…" Smirking, she offers before zipping away, the bird flying fluttering behind her making Ava's eyes narrow at the fleeting figure, lowering her blade.
"Hey come back here lady!" Spirit snaps scowling at her.
"Spirit enough.…We should focus on getting Soul help." Tiredly, Ava reminds him.
"She's right." Stein nods his head.
"Soul…" Maka whispers staring down at him, Stein's coat covering him as she notes the ruby red puddle seeping in.
"Go on." Ava sighs exasperatedly when seeing Spirit linger around Maka, looking lost. She pushes him forward towards Maka, making his blues expand. He turns to see her furrowed frown. Animatedly, his blues sparkle giving her the thumbs up confusing her as both her and Stein share a look at the moron they call a friend.
"Papa…" Maka whispers pained looking up at him.
"Come on let's go home Maka." Softly, Spirit smiles at his little girl, Maka meekly nods, her mind pinned to Soul's safety as they leave heading back to Death City.
"Maaan I'm exhausted! Urghhh…" Stretching, Ava groans, craning her neck to the side raising her hand into the air.
"Are you sure you're alright Lady Ava?" Worried, Maka furrows her brow up at her teacher.
"I'm fine Maka regeneration can take it out of ya." Lazily, she assures Maka.
"Regeneration?" Perplexed, Maka furrows her brow.
"Urgh…my neck's killing me…" Moaning, Ava huffs irritation laced in her tired tone.
"I should go report to Lord Death." Deflated, Spirit sighs.
"Nah leave that to me." Ava tells Spirit.
"Are you sure?" Spirit furrows his brow uncertain.
"Sure I mean I'm guessing he already knows." Ava sighs slumping her shoulders.
"He's aware of your little slip up yes." Curtly, Stein answers.
"You never did learn to mince your words, Stein." Amused, Ava chuckles.
"My teacher never did so why should I?" Smirking, Stein retorts.
"Urgh…just start stitching Soul up." Annoyed, Ava grumbles waving him off.
"Are you sure?" Spirit furrows his brow uncertain.
"It's fine he'll probably want to see me anyway. Besides you need to be there for Maka." Firmly, Ava reminds Spirit gently patting his back.
"Huh?" Spirit blinks taken aback.
"You saw how messed up she was over Soul getting hurt, she no doubt feels guilty dumbass, help her deal with it. I mean you're a weapon you should be used it." Ava reasons gesturing to Maka leaning against the wall looking solemnly sadly down at the floor below.
"Ava…" Spirit sniffles, beady blues sparkling shimmering.
"Don't give me that face it's weird." Disgusted, Ava grimaces, her yellows twitching at his strange expression.
"You care!" Happily, he smiles stretching his arms out pouncing upon her only for her to swiftly dive out of the way, causing him to come crashing down.
"Just don't mess up." Ava sighs brushing past him, hands shoved into her pockets.
"I won't I promise." Weakly, Spirit winces giving her a thumbs up making her sigh.
"Just be there for Maka alright and don't spirit it up." Tiredly, she sighs pleading to him almost concern clear in her tone.
"Spirit it up?" Perplexed, Spirit quirks his head to the side.
"Just don't be yourself." She sighs waving him off turning to leave.
"H-Hey! Ava! Ava!" Feebly, Spirit calls out but it falls to deaf ears as she leaves, heading to Death's door.
"Kid what are you doing here?" Astonished, Ava arches a brow when seeing Kid pacing back and forth furrowing his brow alone.
"Waiting for you!" Kid snaps scowling at her.
"Hm?" Surprised, Ava exclaims.
"Where were you? You said you'd be back last night and then I hear about Soul being injured. You were looking after Maka and Soul…" Kid furrows his brow scowling as Ava's yellows soften sadly seeing the genuine worry in her son.
"Soul's fine Kid." Gently, she places her hands on Kid's shoulders.
"That isn't it! I mean…" Kid scowls trialing off.
"Huh?" Perplexed, Ava quirks her head to the side.
"What about you?" Kid demands from her.
"Relax, I'm fine." She assures Kid.
"Are you lying?" Kid's yellows narrow making Ava smile shyly.
"Kid I'm fine I promise you, do you see any scratches?" Smirking, Ava points out.
"Well no. I heard there was a witch a powerful one…." Kid furrows his brow glancing to the side.
"Yeah…look I'm fine I am there's no need to worry." She assures him.
"I just…" Kid grimaces glaring to the side only to feel her hand on his head.
"I know Kiddo. I know." Tenderly, Ava smiles softly at her son, wrapping her arms around Kid, feeling him bow his head.
"Don't scare me like that." Meekly, Kid whispers clinging to her making her smile softly, hugging him even tighter.
"I'll try not to next time, sorry for worrying you." Softly, she assures him feeling his grip tighten around her. She assures her baby boy helping him handle it all as after calming him down, he leaves, heading back home. She turns to the door, ready to deal with Death.
"Interesting…those two had a pretty rough time it seems. How is Soul holding up?" Death questions Ava as the two stands in the death room.
"Stein's operating on him, he looked pretty bad but I think he'll pull through." Ava informs Death.
"The demon sword has surfaced and it's united with a meister actually embedded within him from what you say. And behind it all is a powerful witch…" Death exclaims.
"I can't be the only one getting some sick sense of deva ju am I?" Pained, Ava smiles sadly sitting down on the stone step leading to the door.
"I suppose not.
Goodness seems things are getting a bit crazy around here aren't there?" Death points out exiting the mirror approaching Ava's slumped form, head in hands.
"Death sweetheart that isn't how most people would react." Tiredly, Ava sighs.
"Yes well, last I checked I'm not most people." Death points out as he joins his wife's side.
"Right you are about that." Sadly, she slumps her shoulders glancing to the side.
"How are you faring? Have you had Stein look at you?" Concerned, Death questions her as she feels his hand on her shoulder.
"So he can dissect me? No thanks…" Jokingly, she laughs emptily.
"Ava…" Concerned, Death sighs making her groan.
"I'm fine Death there's no need to worry." Ava places her hand over his.
"That doesn't mean I don't." Death argues his fingertips brushing briefly against her throat.
"I know…hm? What is it?" Surprised, Ava jolts up at the touch.
"Nothing." Death glances to the side making Ava frown seeing his lingering look on her neck.
"Hey, hey it isn't your fault. It just…it happened yeah?" Tenderly, she assures her husband.
"Are you sure you're alright?" He questions genuine concern in his tone making her smile sadly.
"Honesty? I don't know, I'm worried history may be repeating itself." Solemnly, she sighs slumping her shoulders.
"I know what you mean I wouldn't be surprised humans tend to have a cycle of sorts." Death points out.
"A cycle that could involve our son and my brother." Worried, Ava crosses her arms over her chest.
"Your brother? So…he's alive." Death exclaims.
"He's…different." Pained, Ava glances to the side.
"How different?" Death probes.
"He had the same blood as that Crona girl…boy? Whatever…" Ava shakes her head.
"He did but…how?" Death exclaims.
"I don't know. I can't even believe he risked it, let alone have someone else touch her work…" Bitterly, she sneers glaring to the side.
"Kid is strong." Death reminds her.
"But is he strong enough Death? You and I both know my brother, we both know what he is capable of…also why the heck did you bring Spirit?" Scowling, she shouts at him panic laced in her tone.
"I was worried." Casually, Death shrugs.
"Spirit is your main scythe now or at least your backup. What if someone had attacked the academy? You'd have no one you, Kid, Liz, Patty…" Panicked, Ava combs her fingertips through her locks tugging at them.
"You need to relax, you're clearly stressed not to mention tired from the jetlag I doubt regeneration helped either." Fairly, Death points out helping calm her down.
"Urgh that's the understatement of the century…but I just…" Deflated, Ava groans her head in her hands.
"I know you care and I know you're scared. But worrying about it now isn't helping anyone you know that. Everything will be fine I'll make sure of it." Determined, Death promises her as they sit down on the stone slabs where the mirror stands tall and proud in the center.
"I just…I wish things could be different." Drained, Ava whispers her head down.
"Don't we all? Now come on turn that frown upside down!" Perkily, Death declares.
"Urgh stop!" Smirking, she chuckles shaking her head at him.
"Come on for me." Death quirks his head to the side making her smile shyly.
"Fine…better?" She asks him chuckling.
"Much better." Death smiles brightly.
"You're such a dork." Ava shakes her head at him, chuckling as she leans on his shoulder, feeling his arm around her as they simply enjoy one another's company after another hectic adventure.
