This story take time after the event of Battle of Gods, and our hero; Son Gohan is now an adult. In this story he'd have the super saiyan 1 & 2 forms, and the mystic/ultimate power, but I decided to make it as a form above SS2, not as his base form. And I'd love to know what your thoughts about this story, so please leave a review if you would. And also, English isn't my first language, so my grammar isn't that good, I'm sorry in advance for any grammar or spelling mistakes in this story.

Rise of The Hero

Chapter 1 : Call of Duty

It was a peaceful day in Satan City, and our hero Son Gohan, could be seen flying high above the buildings patrolling over the city. With his Saiyaman suit attached in his body, he can feel the gentle wind touching his skin through the black body suit underneath, making him relaxed over the beautiful scenery. Behind that helmet, his eyes were looking at the city below, observing the people without missing a single thing that happened.

So focussed was he until a voice from someone brought him to look at his side.

"I'm grateful that the city is in a peaceful condition. But not gonna lie, I feel bored." Said the woman in his right, she was wearing the same outfit as Gohan's Saiyaman suit, but different in the color.

"Well, after everything that happened in the past with those monsters, this is the peace I've always wanted Videl." Gohan responded, remembering the past when he and his friends had to face those superpowered beings who threatened to destroy the world. "Besides, I told you to take a rest at home, I don't want something bad happen to you and our baby." He continued as he looked at her with a smile adorned in his face.

Videl's face turned tomato red when she saw that sweet smile of him. She turned her head down looking at the city below to avoid meeting his gaze, while Gohan was raising one of his eyebrows looking at her. in confused, he had no idea why her face turned red.

Gohan had always been a sweet and kind person from the first time they met, but after she learnt the truth about him, his family, and his friends, sometimes it was still hard for Videl to believe that a person who had such dark and tough past like him, could be so sweet and kind, especially towards her.

But not only his personality that made her one of the luckiest person in the world. As a fighter, there was no doubt Gohan had a great physical appearance with all those defined muscles despite his lack of training lately. And somehow, for someone who always fought dangerous battles all his life, Gohan had never got any scars on his face, leaving that good looking feature only for her to look at the whole day. Sometimes, Videl thought that she was the luckiest person in the world to have someone as smart, strong, good looking, and sweet as Gohan.

Her reddened face became redder when she thought about all of that, until it slowly turned back to normal when she noticed someone waving at them from the top of a building. The two were flying pretty high above the city, normal person wouldn't be able to see them without a help of binoculars, but that guy noticed them.

"Is that guy just waving at us? Can he see us from there?" Videl thought for a while before she decided to tell Gohan.

"Hey Gohan, I think that guy over there saw us, he kept waving at us." Her eyes still looking at the mysterious man.

"Yeah, I noticed that too. Let's get to him, he might need some help." The Saiyan responded as he descended slowly, followed by Videl. "I doubt it when I saw him earlier, but now I'm sure... this guy has an absurd Ki." He whispered to Videl as they reached half way down to the building.

Hearing that, Videl's eyes narrowed looking at the figure, she focused her mind, trying to feel the energy of the person. "Gohan's right, this guy's Ki is weird. It's not that powerful, but it felt different." She thought.

The two landed on top of the building and stood a few metres in front of the man. Silence reigned for a few seconds before he started to talk. "The great Saiyaman, and Saiyagirl. Seems like you guys noticed my call." He said, standing calmly in front of the heroes while holding some kind of staff, just like Whis'.

"Do you need our help sir?" Gohan asked with that heroic voice he'd always use every time he became the Saiyaman.

The two were quietly observing the man in front of them, he was wearing the same outfit as Whis, had the same skin tone and built too, the only difference was the white low fade hairstyle.

"Yes, I do need your help Saiyaman." The man replied as he turned his back from the two, and walked to the edge of the building to see the beautiful scenery of the city. "Or should I call you... Son Gohan." He continued, which brought a surprised face to Videl.

"He knew? Who is he?" she asked internally.

"Just as I thought, you're not an ordinary person aren't you?" Gohan asked with his serious tone of voice, abandoning the hero act he did earlier. Not many people knew about him and his family, they didn't wanted to attract the attention of the media on their life, especially after the Cell incident. But this man in front of him somehow knew his identity. "Who are you?" He continued asking.

"You don't look surprised." The man turned back to face the two heroes again. "Well, let me begin my introduction. I'm Kitoki, known as the watcher of universe dimension and time."

"You're a God? Like Lord Beerus?" Gohan asked, now a little surprised at Kitoki's statement.

"Not really, I do friends with the Gods, but my job isn't destroying or creating things like them. It is to look after the universe of dimension and time. Let me explain it to you." Kitoki said as he lightly knocked his staff on the ground and showed the twelve universes in some kind of hologram that came out of his staff.

"I assumed you already knew that there are twelve universes in existence. But there's actually a very small universe between the 10th and 11th." Kitoki said as he zoomed in the universe in between the two, due to the small size of that universe, it can barely be spotted. "This universe is called the 'universe of dimension and time',

"DImensions and time?" Gohan asked in confused.

"Yes, in this universe exists planets that are similar to this earth but with different kind of inhabitants, imagine it like earth filled with ninjas and shinobis for example, or pirates, or even titans. That is why it's called the universe of 'dimension and time', it's basically just like a bunch of earth from different dimensions gathered in one universe. Also, I'm the one who's in charge of this universe, I can see the future, present, and past of that universe, and if I find a problem, I'm the one who's going to fix it."

"Wow, totally different from the God we know." Videl said referring to Beerus.

"Indeed, my job is more like protecting the universe, like the Kaioshins." Kitoki said. "And just like the Kaioshins, I'm not that powerful of a God. But it's fine since the people in that universe aren't so powerful either, that's also the reason why it was forgotten among the other twelve, because my universe is too weak compared to them. I've always been able to handle any problem that occurred so far. However this time, there's a problem I can't handle by myself."

"Is that why you came here? You need our help?" Gohan asked as he turned his attention from the hologram to Kitoki.

"Yes." He replied. He then lightly knocked his staff against the floor, suddenly the hologram changed into a peaceful planet with their inhabitants. Some of them could be seen dressed in a unique costumes, and had unique abilities they'd use to help others. "This is one of the earths from that universe. The people in this earth have powers, they called it Quirks, some of them use their quirk in a good way to be heros, but some people used it in a wrong way, and become the villains." Kitoki explained while the hologram showcasing the heroes fighting the villains in that world.

"Unfortunately, when I tried to see the future of this world, I saw... catastrophe. And it's something I cannot fix, not by myself." Kitoki sped up the scene on the hologram, showing the future condition of the world he was talking about. It changed from a peaceful world into a world filled with fires and explosions, collapsed buildings could be seen, hundreds, no, thousands of people died, buried under the rubbles. Some of the heroes were struggling to get up, some other can barely stood up straight and facing silhouette of three individuals who stood on top of a hill of the fallen heroes.

"Every time I tried to go further to see what actually happened in that world, my eyes burnt, I can't see any further." Kitoki continued, as he closed his eyes, and facing down his head for a few seconds before Gohan started to respond.

"So, why me?" Gohan asked.

"Son Gohan, I see you as someone who would stand on the side of good, you'd protect the lives of others even if it cost yours." Kitoki said as he tapped his staff again and showed the scene from years ago, to the time of a fierce battle between two Kamehamehas, one of Gohan's and the other of Cell's.

Seeing the hologram of his battle, Gohan stood in silence while Videl actually paid attention to that energy clash. She had already heard about the battle of years ago against Cell, but this was the first time for her to actually saw the battle of her husband in his youth. The scene itself, though it was only a hologram, it still can be felt how powerful that clash of two massive kamehamehas that created ginormous size of crater in the middle of the battle arena. Despite wasn't being present on that fight, Videl could tell that was a decisive battle that decide the fate of the earth.

"But, if you're looking for a fighter, why don't you go see my Father, or Vegeta, they're stronger than me, I believe they can handle this better than me." It was true of what he said. Even though Gohan was still one of the strongest fighter in the seventh universe, he had been lacking on training and became weaker since the incident of Majin Buu, while Goku and Vegeta kept progressing on their training with Whis in Beerus' planet, and breaking their limits.

"Beerus, is the only God of Destruction that I'm close with. I've asked him to find me a fighter who can help. He also suggested for Goku and Vegeta, but they refused. They wanted to focus on their training. Besides, they said these villains don't seem to be much of a trouble. So they suggested you to me, they said you've been slacking on training. This could be your opportunity to train and gain your strength again. And after seeing your past battle with that Cell, I believe you have the power to help me." Kitoki explained.

"Well, that's... Dad." Even though it was upsetting to hear that his father considered him weak, but he couldn't complain about it, cause it was true of what his father said. "Believe me, I never like to see people in suffer. But, I don't know... I, I don't think my Mom would ever let me go, playing hero in a world I've never knew before."

"Really Gohan? Your Mom? That's the best excuse you can get?" Videl responded as she turned to look at him, can't believe of what he just said.

"Ahaha, well you know my Mom." He said, looking at her nervously with his hand scratching the back of his head.

"Gohan, these people need your help. You saw what happen, are you seriously going to let that happen!?" She exclaimed, looking at him, trying to convince him to go and help those people.

"Calm down Videl, I'm just kidding... well half of it. I mean, you know exactly how my mom would react." His statement however, led Videl to imagining on how Chichi would respond after hearing that Gohan would go to another world, fighting some superpowered beings. Yes, Chichi would definitely be very furious about it. "Besides, you're pregnant, in five more months our baby's going to come into this world, I can't just leave you." That second reason, brought her to silence, and blushed once again.

Gohan didn't wanted to bring her to this world to fight a dangerous battle in her state right now, but he won't leave her alone here either, he wouldn't want to miss the moment when their baby was born.

"Well, I expected this would happen." Kitoki said, which brought Videl and Gohan to pay attention at him. "So I've already prepared you a prize money after all of this is done. Try to convince your mother with that offer. As for Videl and the baby, you don't need to worry, there's a difference in time between this universe and mine, ten days in my universe are one day in here, so if you go for a year there it would only be about a month passed here, and I believe you'd not need that much time." He then knocked his staff one more time to close the hologram.

Gohan crossed his arms on his chest, and looking down, thinking of what he should do about this, and then turned to look at Videl for a few seconds before he turned to Kitoki. "We'll need more time to think about it." He responded.

"Thank you. Meet me here tomorrow the same time as today if you decided to go." Kitoki said, he then opened a portal with his staff in his right side, and walked up to it. He stopped right before entering the portal, turning his head to face Gohan who was still arguing with Videl about whether to go or not, then he smiled a little while looking at the two. Without saying anything he then got into the portal and disappeared.

"Well, we should probably get home now, it's getting late." Gohan said while looking at Videl ending their arguments on going or not. "We'll discussed about this later. Let's go." He and Videl flew away from the place, and went home.

The next morning found Gohan at the front door of his old house in mount Paozu, through the window, he saw Chichi preparing some breakfast, and Goten, his little brother was playing with his toys. Gohan took a moment to breathe before he decided to get in.

"Okay, lets do this." he said before knocking on the door.

A few knocks from the front door could be heard. Chichi turned to look at the door for a moment before she stepped towards it to open it, and a surprised expression could be seen quickly formed in her face when she recognized the person in front of her.

"Gohan! You're here! It's been a long time, I missed you sweetie!" She said that as she hugged her son for a while before she released him.

Gohan's face turned crimson red after hearing his mom statement. "Uh... mom, I came here like a week ago? But, well I missed you guys too." He said smiling at his mom and responded her hug, before both of them then got inside the house.

"Big brother! I missed you!" Goten, his little brother ran into him, jumped and hugged him.

"Whoa haha! I missed you too Goten." He said, as he ruffled his little brother's hair, which was similar to Goku's.

"Hey let's play Gohan! I have some new toys. Or maybe you want to spar with me a little?" Goten said excitedly.

"I'm sorry, but not now Goten, I have something to talk about with you guys." He put his little brother down, and could see the sad expression on Goten's face. "Maybe next time Goten." He said with a smile to Goten before turned to look at his mom. "Mom, there's something I want to talk about."

"Of course sweetie, here take a seat, I've just prepared breakfast." She put the last plate of food on the table, and sat in one of the chair there. "We could talk after breakfast, I want to eat together with all of my family, if only Goku could be here." She said softly, head looking down as she imagined Goku would be there with them instead of training with Whis.

Gohan walked towards her, kneeling in front of her and held her hands which were on her lap. "Mom, I miss dad too, and I know Goten is too." Gohan said looking at her mom with a smile. "But, dad's training so he could get stronger to protect us, to protect you. Besides, you're not alone mom, you have Goten and me."

"Oh Gohan..." Chichi looked at his son for a moment before she hugged him. "Thank you son."

Gohan of course responded her with a hug, followed by Goten who quickly got down from his seat and ran towards the two. "Hehe hugs are nice.." The little saiyan said, which brought a light chuckles from the two.

"Now, boys, I've prepared some breakfast for all of us, let's eat before it gets cold." She said.

Goten did as ordered, quickly ran to his seat, while Gohan slowly walked to his as he warned his little brother to slow down. They started their breakfast after saying their prayers. While Goten enjoyed devouring the food like how Saiyans usually ate, Gohan was still thinking about how to convince his mom to let him go. He felt bad to leave her like this, moreover after seeing how sad she was that Goku wasn't around. What he said earlier about being there for her just made it harder for him to find a way to convince his mom.

After they finished with their breakfast, Gohan slowly brought up the topic of yesterday's event, explaining everything he heard from Kitoki, about that universe, the other earth, the problem, and...

"WHAAAAT!? You want to go playing hero in a world you don't even know!? And you don't know for how long!?" Chichi exclaimed, standing up and slammed her palms at the table. She was definitely furious after hearing what Gohan had said. "I can't let you go Gohan, your Videl is pregnant, you're suppose to be there for her, waiting for the baby to born…" She continued, a disappointed look on her face could be seen.

"But mom, these people needs my help. I can't just let them face their death like that." The older Saiyan tried to convince her.

"Big brother's going on an adventure to another world? Bring me too! I want to go too!" Said the younger Saiyan excitedly.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT GOTEN! I won't let you. You have to study, so you can be a scholar!" She exclaimed. "And I'm not going to let you go either, Gohan. I want you to be here, helping Videl with all of her preparations for the baby."

"But mom, Videl was the one who convinced me to go. Besides, Kitoki said there's a difference in time between that world and our world, one day here is ten days there. If I go for a year time in that world, only about a month would passed here. Kitoki also said, he will give me big prize after everything is done." He said, trying to convince his mom with the prize Kitoki offered.

"But Gohan I ca-" Chichi tried to object his reasonings before her son cut him.

"Mom, please. Those people are in danger, their world is in danger, their life, their family. Besides I've already became a scholar like you wanted me to be, it's time for me to do what I have to do with my power, saving people, saving lives, that's my responsibility." Gohan said, his tone of voice made Chichi realized her Son was being serious. "Look mom, I know I said I'll be here for you, but these people needs me. Whe- when I fought Cell, Dad died for me, he died because of me, and then Majin Buu killed everyone and destroyed the planet because I can't stop him from awakening, it's always because I'm not strong enough, I'm not good enough. I don't want the same thing to happen to these people, because I turn them down, I can't..." Gohan couldn't continue as he looked down on his lap.

Sigh could be heard from Chichi after that last statement of him, which left the room with silence for a few moments.

"You really are Goku's son, you're always so kind to others." Chichi said as she looked at him, her hand brought his face to look at her. "You always carried the weight of the world on your shoulders since you were a kid, and now even when it's not from our world, you still feel the same responsibility." She said. "I guess… I can't stop you." A little smile formed on her face before she continued. "Alright. You can go Gohan, save those people, but don't go for too long, I want you to be here when your baby is born. Also remember to bring those prize money to me after everything's done."

Hearing that, his eyes opened wide, big smile formed on his face. "T-thanks mom. I promised I will end all of this soon, and get home before it's too long." he said, still couldn't believe his mom actually gave him the permission to go.

"Does that mean I can go with big brother too?" Goten said, excitedly as he stood on the chair.

"NO!" His mom exclaimed, with only that one word, she managed to shut him down, and made him back on his seat, Goten could see some kind of dark red aura surrounding her.

"Ah-haha..." Gohan lightly chuckled nervously as he looked at his little brother who looked sad and scared at the same time. "M-maybe another time Goten."

After that, they talked on how he would go to that world and what was he going to do there, and talked about other thing too.

After a few conversations, Gohan was ready to leave, to prepare for his adventure in another world. Before he left, Chichi went to her's and Goku's room, out from that room she brought something in her hand. "Here, take this with you Gohan, this will help." Chichi said as she gave him a red staff. Took him a few seconds to realized that it was the Nyoibou, the magical staff belong to Goku.

"Thanks mom, It'll be helpful for me." He took the staff. "I think it's time for me to leave, I'll need to prepare another things before I go to that world." Gohan said as he got up from his seat and walked out from the house. "Thanks mom, Goten, I will miss you guys." And with that, he flew away slowly as he waved at his family from above the ground.

"Good bye big brother. Wish you luck!" Goten said while Chichi smiled and waved at her oldest son.

That late afternoon saw Gohan and Videl in the same place as yesterday when they met Kitoki. Waiting for him to come, when all of a sudden a portal formed beside them. They could feel the same energy they felt yesterday.

"Finally, he's here." Videl said as she looked at the portal slowly formed on their side and a figure came out from it.

"Looks like you did convince your mom." Kitoki said as a small smirk came to his face. "So are you ready to go?" he asked, his eyes looking directly at Gohan who wore a plain white undershirt, a brown bomber jacket, and a dark brown cargo pants. Carried his Nyoibou on his back, a little box filled with six capsules, one for his clothes, one for foods, one for gravity chamber in case he wanted to train, one for a house, and he has another two empty capsules just in case he needed to store something. He put that box of capsules in his jacket's pocket. He also brought a sack of senzu beans on another pocket of his jacket.

"Yeah let's go!" Gohan said excitedly to go and see a new world he never knew before.

"Hey Gohan, good luck, and get back soon, okay? And don't you dare to cheat on me." Videl said as she hugged him, her head looked up, to see his face.

"Hey I'm not gonna do that. Don't worry, I'll be alright. I'll save this world, and get back to you soon, I promised." He said with a soft voice tone, and a sweet smile on his face, he hugged her back for a few moments until a voice from Kitoki interrupted them.

"Ehm! I'm still here." Kitoki said as he watched the hero couple blushed. "Let's go Gohan, there's a world waiting for you." Kitoki said as he turned his back and started to walk towards the portal.

"Sorry haha." Gohan responded as he looked at Kitoki before he then turned to face Videl again. "Later Videl." He said as he gave a kiss on her forehead and formed a smile while facing her, he then released his hug and walked towards the portal.

The moment both Kitoki and Gohan stepped into the portal, it then slowly disappeared. Leaving Videl alone, before she flew away back home.

That's all for the first chapter guys, I hope you guys enjoyed it. And I'm really sorry if my English is bad, since it's not my mother tongue. And thank you.
