Rise of The Hero
Chapter 3 : Becoming a Hero
It was eight at night when Gohan found himself walking around an alley, looking for his jacket and all of his capsules. Still wearing his Saiyaman outfit, he could feel the cold wind touching his skin through that black body suit underneath.
"I'm sure this was the place where I left my jacket." He mused internally as he kept on searching around for his jacket. It was already 2 hours since he started, only to find nothing. Feeling the fatigue from searching his goods came to him, he decided to stop, and will come back tomorrow to continue his search.
He opened the map given by Tsukauchi, and looked at the location of the pub the detective told him earlier. Its location was marked with a red circle on the map.
"This bar is not far from here, should I go there?" He realized it when he was observing the map, and found his location wasn't that far from pub's.
It took a while for him to think and decide whether to go to that pub or spend the night in the woods just like when he was a kid. But he decided to go with Tsukauchi's advice. Spending the whole night in the wild would be troublesome, not because he couldn't handle the wild and its animals, he even defeated a giant dinosaur when he was four, it wouldn't be a problem for him to live in a wild forest once again.
He just didn't wanted to look suspicious if someone saw him living in the woods all by himself.
In his whole life, becoming a burden to others was never came to his mind. But he had no choice, he hoped that this friend of Tsukauchi will gladly welcome him. Gohan folded the map, put it in his pocket and started to float before slowly flying to his destination.
In less than a minute, he finally saw the bar. It had the looks of an old western bar, like the one from a cowboy movie.
He flew down to an alley across the bar, and landed there smoothly. After pressing the button on his watch, the Saiyaman outfit immediately disappeared, leaving only white undershirt and a dark brown cargo pants attached to his body. His muscular figure and some scars he got from the past battles could easily be spotted without his jacket on. The biggest scar was the one on his upper left arm, it was the one he got from the battle against Cell.
His head peeking out from the alley, looking around, and found out there was not much people wandering around the area, very different from the busy street in the middle of the city.
He walked across the street, got to the front door of the bar, and stepped in. As he got inside the bar, he felt all the eyes were looking at him. There were only five visitors, four men on the left corner of the bar, and one muscular man sleeping in a table on the right corner of the bar. Didn't really paid any attention to all those gaze thrown at him, Gohan kept walking towards the bartender behind the bar table in the center.
This bartender dressed in a clean white shirt, a bow tie around his neck, and was wearing a black trouser. He was a tall and lean man with pale white skin tone, blue eyes, and a buzz haircut.
"Um, sorry. Uh... I'm looking for the owner of this bar." Gohan said as he got in front of the bartender who immediately turned his gaze at him. "Uhm... Detective Tsukauchi suggested me to come here and meet the owner, he said he already told the owner about my arrival." He tried to clarify everything to the bartender.
As he heard what the Saiyan said, the bartender put the glass on the rack behind, and turned to look at Gohan again.
"So you're Gohan! I've been waiting for you!" Unexpectedly, the man in front of him actually had a feminine voice despite the masculine look he had. "There take a seat." His hand pointed to an empty stool chair in front of the bar table with a flamboyant move. "What do you want for a drink?" He asked as Gohan just took a seat on the chair.
"Ugh, no thanks. I'm... not very liquid right now." He said to the bartender as his hand scratched the back of his head.
"It's okay sweetie, Tsuka-chin already told me everything about you, so this is my treat."
"Tsuka-chin? Sweetie?" Gohan thought with an awkward smile adorned on his face when he heard that. "If that's okay with you. Then, maybe something non alcohol." He accepted the offer, but remembering the previous event in Bulma's birthday party, when he got drunk and did something that endangered other, especially Videl, he decided to take the non-aclcohol drink, so that horrible thing wouldn't happen again to someone else.
"Okay." With his flamboyant style and feminine voice, the bartender turned back to prepare a drink for his guest. "By the way the name's Yuuji, Hikari Yuji."
"Thanks mister Hikari, for the warm welcome." Gohan responded with a wide grin adorned in his face.
"Just Yuji is fine, and it doesn't matter, Tsuka-chin's friend is my friend too." He turned back to Gohan and gave him a big glass of mineral water. "Here!"
"M-mineral water? Well that's absolutely zero alcohol." An awkward smile came to his face once again followed by a bead of a sweat. Even though he said non alcohol, but he expected something more... tasty, like chocolate milk for example, cause he loved chocolate. But, he wouldn't complain about it either, Yuuji was kind enough to welcome him and give this for free.
"T-thanks." He said as he took the glass of water in front of him. But, before he could drink it, a loud scream could be heard from the left corner of the bar.
The source of the scream came from a girl dressed in a white button up shirt and a black skirt with a dark brown apron tied around her waist. That was a clear enough sign for him to realize she was a waitress on this bar.
A massive arm belong to a muscular man grabbed her left hand and pulling her closer to him. Three men could be seen sitting around him, smiling at the girl.
"C'mon play with us babe." Said the man as he tried to pull the waitress to his side.
"I said I don't want to! Let me go!" Said the girl in defense as she tried to let go.
"It's such a waste to work in this crappy little bar. Come with us and we could have some fun together." The man said with a wide smile crossed his face.
"Boss, don't forget about us, we want to have some fun too." Said one of the men who seemed to be his friend or more accurately his sidekicks.
"Those bastards-" Before Yuji could finish his talking, Gohan got up from his seat and walked towards those guys. "G-Gohan…?" Yuuji asked as he tried to warn him but the Saiyan didn't listened and kept walking towards those people.
As Gohan reached them, he threw his sharp penetrating gaze towards them. "Hey, take your hand off of her!" Anger and seriousness could be seen in his face.
"Haa!? Who the hell are you?" The man released the girl, standing up and looking down at Gohan, who remained calm even though the man was twice his size.
Silence reigned for a few seconds after he released the girl. She ran to get behind Gohan, looking for protection.
The bigger man looked at the girl who went behind the Saiyan, and slowly his gaze met with Gohan's again. "You have a problem? Want to be a hero!?"
"Boss, let's beat this asshole! After that, we can play with that chick!" Said one of his men, as he pulled out a knife from his pocket and pointed it towards the Saiyan.
"Yeah babe, don't worry, you'll be alright. We'll have some fun together after we beat this guy for you!" Said another one of the man, as he too took out his pocket knife.
"I can't let you do that. Just pay your drink, and get out before someone gets hurt." Gohan responded, his face turned more serious as he clenched his fists. He didn't wanted to fight them and drew too much attention. Besides, their power and strength weren't even that big, so he might hurt them if he wasn't careful.
"Huh? Hahaha! You heard that?" The boss laughed as he turned his head to the others and they too followed to laugh. They couldn't believe what Gohan just said, he was outnumbered he couldn't win this fight, yet he was still trying to protect that girl. "It's too bad for you if you want to play hero, you pick the wrong villain!" Said the muscular man as he threw a punch right in Gohan's face.
BAAAMMM!
To his surprise, Gohan didn't even flinched nor moved. He let the man punched him right in the face. Oddly, the pain went to the man's hand instead of Gohan's face.
"Aagh! The hell is your head made of!?" When he tried to pull back his arm, Gohan grabbed it with his right arm, as his other arm punched the man right in the ribs.
*Craack!* at least several broken ribs sound could be heard from that impact.
Gohan actually did not expecting that to happen either, he already held back his power, but it seemed to still be too much for the man. With that one hit, the man in front of him spitted out blood and his eyes bulging as he felt the pain from that monstrous blow.
Gohan released the man's hand after seeing the hurt's expression on his face. But surprisingly, this man was still trying to attack him. He threw a punch with his formerly released hand, but before it landed, Gohan hit him with his opened palm right in his abdomen. He used an opened palm thinking that wouldn't hurt the man as much as the first blow, however, his movement was so fast that no one could see it, and the hit sent the man flying out of the bar through the window behind him, hitting a car outside, which left a big dent on the side of the car.
"Crap, I…did not expecting that. Grreeeaat, now I have to pay for that car and the window." Gohan thought as he placed his hand to cover his head.
Meanwhile, the reaction from the other crooks were priceless. They looked at their boss laying down outside the bar unconscious. However, the same reaction didn't happened to Yuuji and the girl, yes they were shocked with that power but not in the same extent as those bad guys. The sleeping guy on the right side of the bar also gave a little reaction as he lifted his head a little from the table and looked at Gohan for a moment before he went back to his sleep. It was as if that display of power wasn't that surprising for them.
The remaining crooks looking at their Boss in shock, and turned their gazes at Gohan, now they looked scared of him. But one of them tried to attack him with the pocket knife he had, and stabbed him right in the chest.
KLANG!
Again, Gohan brought surprise to the man's face as he looked at the knife in his hand had bent after it hit that hard muscular chest. This made the other men surprised as well to know how strong Gohan was, and how weak they were compared to him.
"Y-you can t-take it." Said one of them stuttering as he handed some money to Gohan to pay their drinks. "We will go now." They quickly ran out from the bar, reached to their boss, got inside the already dented car, and drove away.
"Thank god it was their car." Gohan thought as he sighed in relieved that he didn't need to pay for the dented car even though he felt bad for them. Then he realized the girl behind him. "Oh right, are you okay?" He turned to look at her and ask if she was okay, his eyes observing if she got any injuries or got hurt.
"Ah y-yes I'm all right. T-thank you." She said, a little shy as Gohan's face got closer to her.
Gohan then pulled back his face from her and looked at her with a smile. "You're welcome." His hand scratched the back of his head. He turned to face Yuuji who was still standing behind the bar table. "I'm really sorry for the mess, I promise I will pay for that." He quickly apologized with his body bowed in perfect ninety degree angle.
Yuuji saw that, then smiled at him. "That's fine Gohan, you've saved my precious employee, I can't thank you enough for that."
After he heard that, Gohan responded with a smile and felt relieved that Yuuji wasn't mad at him.
"Um, Gohan was it?" Asked the girl as she approached him.
"Yes?"
"Th-thank you so much for earlier, the name's Hidemi Emi, n-nice to meet you!" Said the girl as she bowed slightly at him.
"Nice to meet you too Hidemi." He responded with a wide smile.
"Anyway guys." The two turned their heads towards Yuuji as they heard him trying to say something. "I think it's best for us to close the bar now, after all of this mess." His hand was reaching his pocket to get something. "Gohan, here. It's the key for your room upstairs. Tsuka-chin told me you need a place to stay." He gave Gohan the key to his room upstairs.
"Thank you Yuuji!"
"So, he's going to stay here?" Emi asked as she looked at Yuuji who replied with a nod.
"Oh Gohan, I almost forgot. You can stay here, but you have to work here too, since you haven't got any job, that's how you gonna pay the rent. You don't need to cook or anything, just keep this bar from that kind of bastards from earlier. After you get your 'real' job, you can stop working here." Yuuji said.
"That's fine with me, thanks Yuuji." Of course for Gohan, that job was nothing compared to what Yuuji had done for him, so he gladly accepted it.
"Good, I'm going to wake that man and close the bar." Yuuji looked at the already asleep man on the right side of the bar and then looked back at both Emi and Gohan in front of him. "Emi, I'll get you home and make sure you got home safe. Gohan you can go to your room, take some rest, I think you'll need it."
"I think you're right, I really need some rest. A lot of things happened in one day." Gohan said as he stretched out his hands upwards, showing that he felt really tired. This was the first day he got here, and he already dealt with bank robbers, police, and bar thugs, so yeah it was a tiring day.
"Thank you again Yuuji." He said which got a nod as a replied from the bartender.
"G-good night Gohan, s-see you tomorrow." Emi said, in shy as she looked at him.
"Good night too Hidemi." He replied before walking to his room upstairs.
After a few steps he was already on the second floor, and found himself standing in front of a wooden door. He pulled out the key Yuji gave him earlier, put it in the keyhole, unlocking the door to open it, and stepped inside the room.
The room contained a simple bed on the left, big enough for one person, a table on the right side, and a closet beside the entrance. Smiled in satisfaction, he jumped to the bed and a few minutes later he was already asleep.
It was about nine at night when both Yuuji and Emi were on their way towards Emi's 'house' after they had done cleaning the bar. They went there with Yuuji's car. Both of them were silence for a few minutes until Yuuji started a conversation.
"That strength, that speed, in terms of raw power, he's definitely more powerful than any heroes of this world... there's no doubt that Gohan isn't from here." Yuuji said, his face remained serious while he was driving. "I knew something's different about him when I felt his presence entered the bar."
"Y-yeah." Emi replied with her face looking down at both her hands on her laps.
Noticing her unusual behavior, he looked at her with seriousness before he asked her opinion about Gohan. "What do you think is gonna happen if the three of us fight him, all at once?" He asked, curious about what she was about to say.
"He-he's strong. But, I think we could still handle him if we are at our best." She responded.
"I see... You paid no attention to his fight earlier." Yuuji said as he looked at her for a moment and then back to the road. "He was holding back. The one he showed us earlier wasn't his real power, I don't think it even came close to his full power." He explained which brought Emi to look at him. "In our state right now, no, even in our prime state, we can't win. Even with the three of us. We have to quickly get to our full power and get that orb."
"What're you planning to do when we get the orb's power?" She wasn't stupid, she knew exactly what they were going to do, but she asked him anyway. At the same time the question was thrown, the car stopped in front of a house that looked like an abandoned one. The house located in a pretty remote area and a bit far from the crowded place, even the only light could be seen in that area was the one from their car.
"Kill him of course." Yuuji answered with his deep voice tone, very different from when he introduced himself to Gohan earlier. He opened the door and got out from his car to walk towards the building.
Hearing the replied from him made Emi a little concerned, but she knew that was for the best if they wanted to achieve their goal. Gohan would be a big trouble for them if they didn't get rid of him. Soon Emi followed him, she opened the door and got out from the car to walk towards the house.
When they were already inside, the two saw a silhouette of a man, a muscular figure with long hair, wearing a black long sleeve shirt, and black trouser. He stood in front of a fire place as he then turned towards the entrance when he heard the door creaked opened.
"Finally you're here..." The man said. "About the guy from the bar earlier, tell me everything you know about him." The man in the silhouette asked Yuuji who was just entered the building.
Yuuji replied with a nod from his head, and walked towards the silhouette followed by Emi. They got closer to the man, only to reveal the true identity of the man in front of them was the same muscular guy who slept on the bar earlier, they somehow knew him and had connection with him.
The Next Morning
The bright sunlight came through the window, brightening up the room where Gohan was sleeping. The warm light came to his face, slowly waking him up from his sleep. He opened his eyes slowly, to adjust with the warm light. After a few seconds, he finally woke up entirely and already got up from his bed.
He stretched his body for a brief moment. Then walked towards the door, opened it with one of his hand, while his other hand was rubbing his eyes. He stepped out from the room, then went downstairs. And there he saw a figure of a tall man from last night.
"Morning, Gohan." Said the tall figure.
"Yuuji?" He tried to figure out the man in front of him since he was still a bit sleepy. "Wow, you woke up early."
"Waking up early in the morning, preparing everything before opening this pub, that's my morning routine." He said as he cleaned up the bar table with a cloth.
"When will you open the bar?" Gohan asked as he walked towards the stool chair in front of the bar table.
"Usually, I'd open at 11. But, because all of the mess that happened last night. I'd probably have to set it back till evening." He sighed, looking at the broken window in the left corner of the room.
"Uuhh... I'm sorry about that. I'm going to help you fix it." He answered as he followed Yuuji to look at the broken window.
"No need to, I can fix it. Besides, you have other things to do today." He said looking at Gohan who was confused about what he meant. Yuuji then crouched down to reach a bag under the bar table, put the bag on the bar, and took something out of it.
"Early this morning Tsuka-chin texted me, he wanted to meet you at the police station later. Take this phone, he wanted you to call the number he gave you yesterday." He gave Gohan a folding phone that looked a bit old.
"Thanks Yuuji." He responded as he looked at the phone in his hand.
"No problem, that's my old phone, I don't use it anymore. But it's still working properly." He went back to his activity, cleaning the bar table. "Oh Gohan, I've already prepared a nice suit for you too, it's in the closet in your room. Tsuka-chin said you need to wear a nice looking suit."
"I can't thank you enough, we haven't known each other for long, and you've done so much for me. I promise I'll pay you back after I get my 'real' job."
"Haha, you promised." He laughed a little as he stopped his activity and looked at Gohan with a smile. "I think you should get ready now. Tsuka-chin wants to meet you at eight."
"Right, I'll shower first." He then went to the bathroom upstairs.
After a few minutes, Gohan had finally done with his bath. He went to his room, looking for the suit Yuuji said earlier. He opened the closet and found a nice looking blue suit and pants, a white long-sleeved shirt with a blue tie around the collar. At the bottom of the closet, he could see a pair of black dress shoes and socks. Without wasting any time, he put on the suit and shoes. Then looking at his own reflection in the mirror, with the new outfit attached to his body.
"This is great, it suits me well." Gohan joked in his thought when he see himself in the mirror. Then he went downstairs.
Yuuji turned his attention when he heard a footstep from the stairs only to see Gohan in the new outfit he gave.
"You looked good in that."
"Haha thanks." Gohan smiled as he scratched the back of his head, he walked towards Yuuji and took a seat in front of the bar Yuuji just cleaned. "So, when will Emi come?"
"She'll be here later in the afternoon, I told her I will open the bar later after I fixed everything. I don't want her to work extra for helping me repairing these mess, so I told her to come by the afternoon."
"I see." suddenly a loud grumbled came from Gohan's stomach. With a sheepish grin on his face, he scratched the back of his head again when Yuuji was looking at him after that grumbled echoed around the room. "Haha... sorry."
"Wait here, I will make something for breakfast, I feel like I'm a bit hungry too." He said before he went to the kitchen and cooked something for both of them to eat.
A few moments later found both Gohan and Yuuji sitting side by side, digging on their breakfast. Even though it wasn't Gohan's normal amount of food, he could still keep his appetite like normal human, living together with Videl, made him learn how to control his appetite.
"Uwah! This tastes great, you're really good at cooking." Gohan stated after he swallowed a whole spoon of the food.
"It's actually my quirk, it let me to cook every foods I've eaten before, and make it taste even better." Yuuji responded.
"That's a great quirk." He replied as he kept eating. "If only I could have that kind of quirk, I'm pretty bad at cooking." [1]
"Yeah... but not good enough if you want to be a hero." Yuuji responded as his head facing down, looking at his food. A sad expression on his face was enough for Gohan to know that he lost his dream to be a hero because of his quirk.
Gohan then stopped eating for a moment after he saw Yuuji's expression. "You know, I've never thought becoming a hero means you have to be powerful enough to fight the bad guys." He said. "Hero is not the one who beat up the villains. A hero is the one who helped others with everything they have, without expecting anything in return."
What he said brought him back the memory of his father's sacrifice, and the Z fighters struggles against Cell. None of them expected something in return, they fought because it was their responsibilities to protect the world. In the end, Mr. Satan was the one to receive compliments from around the world, which was funny enough how that guy who was definitely not a hero, became the father in law of the real hero.
"Thank you, Gohan." Yuuji said as he smiled in return.
"No problem." Gohan reponded with a nod and a smile. "Ah, I think I have to hurry, I don't want to keep Tsukauchi waiting for me." He said as he sped up his eating, and finished it a few seconds later.
After he drank a glass of water in front of him, Gohan got up from his seat, and started running to the entrance of the bar, as he looked back at Yuuji before he got out. "Thanks Yuuji, see you later."
A smile adorned in Yuuji's face as he saw his friend walked out from the bar.
Few moments after Gohan left, the smile in Yuuji's face disappeared.
'I put poison in his food and drink, but no effect in return. Poison definitely wont work on him.' He thought as he looked at the empty plates in the bar table [2].
On his way to the police station, Gohan opened the map and tried to figure out the fastest way to get there. He decided not to fly because he'd love to take a look at the city and wanted to try memorizing the route. Besides, he had no hero license yet, so he can't show his power in public if it wasn't an urgent situation. At least he remembered that.
On the way there, same as yesterday, he found pro heroes patrolling around, helping people. Some of them had unusual animal-like features, but somehow that didn't surprised him as he already got used to these kind of thing in his world. This still quite interesting nonetheless, from the book he had read in the library, the people had this features due to their mutant type quirks, which he found very unique.
On the way, he saw a lot of posters, and advertisements of heroes. All Might, the hero he met yesterday could be found in almost every advertisements and posters he had seen.
'This All Might, he must be a famous hero, I wonder what his quirk is.' He mused internally, though he already had some ideas from the hero's name.
After a few moments, he finally reached the location. Tsukauchi already waiting in front of the police station, wearing the same outfit as yesterday. "Finally you're here Son, I've been waiting for you." He said as he looked at Gohan.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. So where are we going today?"
"Get inside the car, we're already late. I'll explain to you on the way." as Tsukauchi then walked towards his car, followed by the Saiyan. After they got inside the car, he started to drive away from the police station. "Do you have your hero costume with you?" He asked while still focusing on his driving.
"Yeah, it's here." Gohan answered, showing his watch in his left wrist. "Where are we going? Are we going to need this costume?"
"Today you're going to do the professional hero test, to get your pro hero license." Tsukauchi explained as his eyes focussed on the road. "Remember what I said yesterday? It'd be better if you have a hero license, so you can help doing hero duties with your power."
"I see... what am I going to do in that test?"
"Some hero rescue simulation, you have to fight other heroes who will act as the villains, while rescuing the civilians at the same time. Normally you'd do this test in high school, and you'd do it as a group." Tsukauchi explained. "It's actually not allowed to do this test if you didn't attend any hero school. Therefore I had to convince the agency to allow us to do this. And they agreed on this, in one condition though, they'll change the difficulty of the test, because you're not a high school student anymore, so..." He said as he looked at Gohan before continuing. "...I hope that's not going to be a trouble for you."
"I see, I think I could handle this test." Gohan responded with a little smile on his face.
"That's the confidence, also, I have something to talk about after this test." Tsukauchi said as he drove his car to the parking lot of a building. "This is the stop. C'mon I don't want to keep them waiting." He stopped the car and got out.
Gohan followed him, getting out from the car, and walked towards the building. As he walked behind Tsukauchi, his head facing down remembering what Tsukauchi told him yesterday when they met for the first time, told him that he was going to help him to save this world, he even risked himself to lose his job for trusting the Saiyan's story.
"Tsukauchi." Gohan called the man in front of him as they stopped in front of the door. "Thank you, for trusting me, for everything." He thanked Tsukauchi which the police replied with a simple nod and a light smile.
Inside the Takoba National Stadium
After both of them got inside the stadium, Gohan found himself and Tsukauchi in a big room and he saw a man standing in the middle of the room looking at his phone. The man looked overall disheveled with a tired-looking face and unkempt hair. He had a beige-colored hair fell to his ear, was wearing a dark grey suit, a black tie, and a pair of dark shoes, the first button of his shirt was undone and his tie was loose.
"This is Yokumiru Mera, agent from the Hero Public Safety Commission. He's the one who's going to evaluate your test." Tsukauchi introduced him to Gohan.
Mera turned his head from his phone to look at the two, and put his phone in his pocket. "Mera, nice to meet you." He said with a listless expression, and his hand reached out for a handshake.
"Son Gohan." Gohan replied, he took Mera's hand for a handshake.
"I'll explain the rules of this test, please this way." He gestured them to follow him and walked towards a door. "Normally, this test's done in groups, so we can evaluate the students' abilities to cooperate with others on their teamwork. But, because you're all alone in this test, we're going to evaluate your combat ability, decision making and how you'd adjust your role in a disaster situations." Mera said as they stopped their steps and standing in front of the door.
"Get inside this room when we give you the signal." He said, as both him and Tsukauchi left Gohan there. "Oh, and put on your hero suit." He said, before they continued their walk.
Now that he was alone in that big room, Gohan tried to focus his perception ability so he could feel the energy of the people inside this stadium. He could feel the power level of the heroes from behind that door in front of him.
Waiting for the test to start, he took off his blue suit jacket, leaving his white shirt attached in his upper body. Then he pressed the red button on his watch, in a second he was covered in his Saiyaman suit.
"The test will start in…" The voice of Mera echoed around the room through the speakers, which made Gohan realized that the test will start soon. Admittedly he was a little nervous, but still trying to keep on focus. "Three… two… one.." all of a sudden a loud beeping noise echoed around after the countdown, Gohan opened the door in front of him when he heard the signal to begin the test, and stepped inside.
Much to his amazement, he knew that Mera already told him, he'll be placed in a disastrous area. But the destruction in this area was surprisingly detailed.
Taking a look around, there was a safe zone for the injured civilians on the side of the entrance.
While Gohan was still in awe by the detail of this, he forgot that he was actually doing a test, suddenly a loud scream of help could be heard from the distance, which brought him back to the realization of the situation.
Didn't wanted to waste any time, he leapt up and launched himself to the location of the scream which he reached in a split second. There he found a child trapped under the rubble, and quickly decided to get him out. He lifted the solid piece of building same size of a small house so easily and got the boy out of there.
"You okay? Got any injuries?" He asked, as he observed the boy and saw his injured leg. "This boy, he wouldn't be able to move in that condition, I have to get him to safety." he thought.
"My legs hurt I can't move, my dad, he's trapped too. I don't know where he is, but please… please, help him." Cried the boy.
"Everything will be fine. I'll find him, I promised, but first, let's get you to safety." He convinced the boy with a smile in his face, then he flew to the safe zone with the boy in his arms.
When he got to the safe zone, he laid down the boy and told him that he was going to find his dad. Again, he flew to the same direction as before, and landed in the same place where he found the boy. Standing there for a moment, trying to focus and sense the energy of the others, in a sudden he felt a lot of energy from various people, but there was one very close to him.
He quickly dashed to the direction, lifted up the rubble with with one hand, and get the man out. He went back with the man to the safe zone. After he put the man down, Gohan went back to the disaster area, getting the other trapped civilians.
Meanwhile in the safe zone area
It hadn't been two minutes since the test started, and Gohan already saved a lot of trapped civilians and brought them to safe zone. There, the civilians exited their characters.
"He's good, the way he calm the civilians and make them feel safe is amazing." The boy said, as he watched Gohan trying to find the other civilians in the distance.
"Yeah, the way he responded to the surroundings, and making the right decision is quite impressive." This time it was coming from the older man beside the boy. "I think we finally get a great candidate for the next number one hero."
Back to Gohan with his activity. He was looking around the area to find another injured civilians, when all of a sudden a massive explosion came not far from his place. The shockwaves it created was pretty big and managed to shake the ground a little. He narrowed his eyes, looking at the explosion, sensing a pretty big power level from it, and decided to go towards that direction.
From behind the dust, he saw a man, a tall well-built man. His body had the features of a killer whale. This man wore a white suit with a high collar reached out all the way to his chin, decorated in a diamond shape to look like teeth, and a pink tie looked like a tongue. He was followed by some people dressed in black costumes and masks, who all of a sudden charged towards Gohan the second he landed in front of them.
Meanwhile in the administrator's room.
"Gang Orca, he's the 10th rank in national hero lists, a tough one. Now, how are you going to fight him, Son Gohan?" Mera mused internally as he watched the situation on the stadium.
In the arena, Gohan was found standing a few metres in front of the villains who were charging at his direction. But, again he felt the energy of another trapped civilians not far from there. "There are another two trapped civilians left, I have to move fast." He thought as his eyes glanced to the source of the energy.
In a second, he disappeared from the sight of the villains, leaving some of the them who were already advanced to attack him, stopped in surprised.
"Where is he?" One of them asked in confused. Suddenly he felt a light tap in the nape of his neck, and everything went black.
*Thud* the sound of the fallen body could be heard, this of course surprised the other crooks as well, but before they could react to the situation, they all felt a light tap in their nape of necks almost at the same time, soon they were all knocked out.
Now it was only the Orca guy and three of his subordinates around him. Gohan appeared a few metres in front of them, brought the shock to everyone.
Gang Orca's eyes opened wide as he saw the Saiyan reappeared in front of them out of nowhere. "He's fast, I couldn't even see him." he thought as he then narrowed his eyes to the man in front of him, still remained in calm, trying to play his role as a villain.
"I'll take it from here." Said Gang Orca to his men. He walked towards Gohan as he took off his black cape.
"Now, HERO! The villain has finally show themselves, are you going to fight me, or help the civilians? Whatever your decision is, you're goin-" Before he could finish speaking, Gohan charged forward to his direction. When the Saiyan reached his range, a light jab met the Orca's right forearm which was trying to block the fist, but the power of the jab sent him flew backwards and hit the wall behind him.
BRROOOOOMM!
Sound of the impact with the wall could be heard echoing around the arena, followed by the shockwave and dusts which threw some pebbles and small rocks.
"Damn... he's strong." Orca said in his mind, while trying to get back to his knees, his head felt dizzy from that attack.
He got up and shook his head to remove the dizziness. When he looked at his right arm where he got hit earlier, he found out that his arm cover wasn't there, it fell on the ground broken into pieces. And he couldn't believe it, of course that thing wasn't indestructible, but still, that arm cover been helping him in a lot of furious battles, it was definitely a hard material to break... well it was.
"I don't have much time, I'll deal with you later." Gohan said to the villain before he disappeared once again, brought the shock to them.
He reappeared in front of a massive rubble in which he felt the energy from earlier. "They're here, got to save them first!" He lifted the rubble and got the two remaining civilians out from there. Just like the rest of the civilians, he took them to the safe zone, calmed them down, and went back to face the villains. It took him only a few seconds to brought those guys to the safe zone and went back to the villains.
"He's pretty strong, he could still stand in his feet after receiving that punch, though I held back." Gohan thought when he saw Gang Orca. He was a bit surprised, because most people would've gone unconscious after receiving that blow. Though he was actually holding back his punch, and threw it slow enough so that the Orca guy could still follow and block it.
The rest of the subordinates charged at him quickly as they saw him reappeared in front of them. Realizing the situation, Gohan simply charged up his Ki, strong enough to blow away what was left of them. They were all thrown back hitting the wall and some other solid surfaces like the ruins of the building around.
"He had such tremendous power." Gang Orca thought, while his hands covering his eyes and his feet struggling to stand firm from that shockwave of Gohan's rising Ki. "Where the hell did he come from?"
Not wasting any time, Gohan charged forward and positioned himself behind the Orca. Still with his power held back, he kicked the back of Gang Orca, sent him flying towards the rubble, but not yet finished, he rocketed towards his foe until he was in front of him, and right before the villain's boss hit the rubble, with an axe kick Gohan hit him right on his left shoulder.
BRRROOOOMM!
With that, he sent the villain's boss darted to the ground so fast that even Tsukauchi, Mera, and some other evaluator didn't knew what just happened in the arena. All they knew was that they heard a hissing noise of something that moved so fast, then an explosion of dusts risen from the ground and felt some shockwave from the arena. When the dust began to dissipate, they all saw a small crater about ten metres in diameter formed there, and the already knocked out Gang Orca laid unconscious in the middle of it.
Gohan descended slowly and stood on the side of the knocked out villain. But before he could even take a breath from that fight, suddenly a kick was sent right at his face, but to no avail, he dodged it before it even touched him. He jumped backwards and standing still, observing the uninvited guest in front of him. This new villain was wearing various pieces of armor, all pale in color, also a helmet to cover his face.
Meanwhile, Mera in the administrator room. "Ingenium, he had proven to be quite a formidable hero, his quirk allow him to release propulsion jets from his elbows and shoot himself at turbo speed. Now, how are you going to deal with this one?" He mused internally as he watched the situation on the arena.
Gohan still standing there, remaining calm in his Saiyaman suit as he thought of a way to fight the new challenger.
"So, he's fast? Then the only thing I have to do is move faster than him." He thought calmly as he smiled, and then gesturing his right hand, pointing at the villain in front of him.
"So another evil being has arrived! But there's no need to worry, because I AM the defender of truth! Protector of the innocents! Upholder of justice! The doer of Good! I AM... THE GREAT SAIYAMAN!" Gohan shouted his hero name followed by a ridiculous poses he loved the most.
A thick bead of sweat appeared in the heads of everyone present, from Ingenium to Tsukauchi, even the evaluator who disguised as civilians in the safe zone gave a comment about that scene.
"He may be a great candidate for the number one hero, but that pose, that's just..." one of the evaluator couldn't continue to describe the ridiculous pose.
"If poses were included for the evaluation of this test, I doubt he would pass the test..." said another evaluator.
And they were right, most people even the z-fighters saw that pose as something unnecessary and lame, except Goten, his younger brother of course. He was the only one who liked that pose... until he turned ten. Even the knocked out Gang Orca would agreed that the pose was lame, and a thick bead of sweat might streamed down on the back of his head if he had the chance to see it.
Ingenium shook his head right and left as he tried to forget everything that just happened in front of his eyes. He ran towards Gohan in turbo speed, and when he reached the hero's range, he threw a right fist to his face, added it with the propulsion jets from his elbow, making it moved so fast, even a pro hero could barely see it.
But to Ingenium's surprise, however, his fist slipped through Gohan's after image. Yes that fist was fast and other heroes might not be able to dodge it, but not for Gohan who can catch bullets and flew to the other side of the planet in a second.
"You're fast." A voice could be heard from behind him. Ingenium quickly turned his head to face the voice and there he found Gohan, smiling even though he couldn't see his entire face behind that helmet. "But not fast enough." Gohan continued as he raised his hand, and threw his punch right in the face of the villain, breaking the helmet, sending Ingenium flew backwards hitting the rubble behind him.
Brroooomm!
With that single hit, Gohan had beaten his foes, giving an end to the test. To everyone's surprise, he already ended the test in a new record for the fastest pro hero rescue test.
"W-with that, you've finished the rescue test Son Gohan, y-you can leave the area." Mera informed as he stuttered after seeing the event that happened from the administrator's room.
With that being announced, Gohan walked towards his already knocked out foes, and brought them out with him. Some medics came through from the entrance to get the other victims of his raw power. And funny enough, in this test, he beat them all with pure raw power, not even a Ki blast and his psychic abilities were used in this test.
"Son!" Tsukauchi called, once Gohan was already outside the test area. "You did great. I know you're strong but not to that extent!" He exclaimed, even though he had seen his power, and know his story, he still couldn't really believe it at first, but now he was surprised with Gohan's strength and super speed.
Gohan laid down Ingenium and Gang Orca, and let the medics handle them. "Yeah, I hope that's enough to pass the test." He said.
"You still have the writing test waiting for you Son." He said to Gohan as he handed the blue suit he left in the waiting room.
"Oh right. Thanks." He took the blue suit.
"Follow me." Both of them walked towards a room where the writing test will be held. As he walked, Gohan pressed the button on his watch so the Saiyaman suit disappeared from his body, and then put on his blue jacket suit.
Both Gohan and Tsukauchi stopped at the front door of the writing test room.
"I'll be waiting for you here." Tsukauchi said as he gestured at him to get inside the room. Gohan replied it with a nod, and went inside.
After about an hour, he finally finished the writing test, and got to Tsukauchi.
"So how was it?" Tsukauchi asked.
"I think I did good in that one." he stated. "They said they'll give me the result tomorrow."
"I like that confidence of yours Son." The detective smiled at him. "Take this, you must be hungry right?" He said as he gave him a burger. "Don't worry. I already ate one, so this one's for you."
Gohan gladly took the burger, and smiled at him. "Thanks Tsukauchi."
"You're welcome. Anyway, I told you, I'll introduce you to the principal from one of the most prestigious hero school right?" He said and in response, Gohan nodded as he remembered that yesterday he told him about that. "Well, let's go then."
Both of them stepped outside the building and got inside the car. Gohan started to eat his burger, and Tsukauchi drove the car to the prestigious hero school, U.A. High, which wasn't that far from their location.
"So what's with this hero school thing? Why would you introduce me to the principal?" As he eat his burger, Gohan asked a question to break the silence between the two.
"You have a powerful 'quirk' Son, that's why I want you to be a hero, and of course I think you'll make a great hero, knowing for the fact that you're a hero in your world." He said as his eyes still focusing on the road. "But that's not the only thing I want you to do. After I've heard everything you told me before, about this world, about the future... I can't stop thinking about it. What if you didn't come here? What's going to happen to this world? What if there's another threat that'd come after you're gone? Would there be a hero powerful enough to protect this world? The number one hero is on his edge right now..." He explained as their car came to a stop due to the red light.
"The number one hero?" Gohan asked as he looked at Tsukauchi with one eyebrow rising in confused, also he already done with his burger.
"All Might, his power's slowly fading away. And he already looked for his successor now, I heard that he had found a boy to be his successor, but still... this boy is too young to hold the weight of a hero in his shoulders." Tsukauchi faced down his head, remembering the photo of the kid All Might showed him before.
"But why? Why did his power fading away? What's happening to him?"
"It's because of the fight with a villain five years ago. The villain injured All Might pretty badly, because of this wound, he lost most of his respiratory organs, and somehow his powers started to fade away, maybe because his body isn't strong enough to wield his power anymore." He explained as then the green light from the traffic light illumined his face, gave him the sign to start driving.
"That's why I want you to meet the principal of this school, I want you to be a teacher in this school, so that you can teach the students to be a hero, and also train All Might's successor. You're also a martial artist right? After what you showed us in that rescue test, you're definitely suitable to teach martial arts." Tsukauchi said as he turned his face to Gohan for a moment, he actually didn't saw anything from the battle test earlier, but one thing he sure about was that, Gang Orca and Ingenium were pro heroes and definitely had the experience of martial arts. And Gohan beat them up like nothing, so he was sure Gohan's an experienced martial artist, or at least he knew about it.
"I see that now. But to be a teacher, at least I had to graduate from a college and get the teaching certificate right?" He said.
As they stopped at another red light, Tsukauchi took something from the car's glove box and he gave it to Gohan.
"Here, this is your new identity, diploma, and certificate. It's pretty hard to convince my friend to fake these." He said as Gohan took the folder from his hand.
He opened it and read some of the information about his identity. His name was still the same, but the other information were already falsified. A worried expression came to his face, he felt like he might be in a big trouble one day, because of this.
"Don't worry, it was made by one of the best government agent, no one will know about it, even a ghost wouldn't know if it's fake." Tsukauchi said, convincing his new friend as if he knew what Gohan thought about this fake identity.
"I hope so." Gohan replied as a nervous expression came to his face. He looked back at his new identity and read it, trying to remember it.
After a few minutes, their car came to a stop in front of U.A. High. The two stepped out from the car. Tsukauchi could see his friend staring at the sprawling building in front of them, astonishment could be seen in his eyes.
U.A building was made to look like letter "H" and in every sides was covered by windows, which reflect the beautiful orange light from the afternoon sky.
"Well first impression? I'm impressed." Gohan praised internally as he saw the beautiful building in front of him.
"Come on Son, we don't want to keep them waiting." Tsukauchi said waking Gohan up from his astonishment towards the building.
"Right, sorry haha…" A wide grin adorned in his face as he scratched the back of his head very typical of Goku.
Once they stepped inside the building, Gohan looked around the place, and found no one, no students, no teachers, nothing.
"Where are all the students and teachers?" He thought.
After a few minutes they finally stopped in front of a massive door. Behind that door, Gohan could feel the two energy from two different individuals. Tsukauchi knocked the door about three times, before opening it. He stepped inside the room followed by Gohan.
For a few seconds, Gohan looked around the room and then his eyes locked on the two figures in front of him. One of them was sitting on a chair behind a desk, wearing a black suit with black vest underneath, and a white shirt. His appearance was... kinda like a mouse?
While the other figure stood beside him, was a tall man wearing a black long sleeve shirt, with matching pants, and a scarf around his neck. This man's appearance looked messed up, just like the Mera guy from that hero test earlier.
"Son, this is principal Nezu." Tsukauchi said as his hand pointed politely to the figure sitting on a chair behind the desk. "And this is, Aizawa Shota." Tsukauchi continued as his hand now pointing politely at the other figures standing beside the principal.
"I'm Son Gohan, an honor to meet you sir." He said as he bowed politely in front of the two.
"It's nice to finally meet you Son Gohan." Said the principal to him. "Tsukauchi already told us about you, you're going to apply as a teacher in this school right?"
"Ah yes." Gohan stepped closer to the principal's desk, and gave the folder containing his certificate and identity to Nezu. The principal took it and opened it to read the information about the man in front of him.
For his part, Gohan could feel the nervous sweat streaming down his temple. Giving a fake identity and other false information for applying a job, never came to his mind to do something like this.
After a few minutes, Nezu finally finished reading the whole information about him and gave it to Aizawa.
"It's weird for me at first because Tsukauchi really want you to be in this school. But now I understand, you've graduated from a prestigious school abroad, and you're a capable fighter. Not only you're a martial artist, but also a genius in academic, having a teacher like you would be a benefit for our school." Nezu said to him, giving his opinion after he read the files. Hearing this, Gohan's eyes shot open full of hope about him to be accepted as a teacher.
"But I'm really sorry. I can't accept you that easily." This statement from Nezu dashed Gohan's hope away. "Unfortunately, you didn't take the pro hero test in your school. To be a teacher in a hero school, you have to be a hero at least, especially if you're about to teach the hero classes, which means you have to get your license first." Nezu said.
"He already done the pro hero license test, and they will announce the result tomorrow, can you wait until he get the result?" Tsukauchi said trying to convince the principal.
Silence reigned for a few moments until Nezu started to speak up again. "All right then, I'll wait until your result comes out tomorrow." Nezu said after he reconsidered it.
"Thank you sir." Gohan said as he bowed to the principle.
"Don't mind, I'd love to have a genius like you to teach our students."
"Thank you, I'm flattered to hear that." Gohan replied.
"Good, you may leave now, we'll meet again tomorrow, same place, same time, bring your license as a proof, and we'll process your data in this school after that. If you really are going to teach here, you'll start next Monday when the new school year begin." Explained the Principle.
'Ahh so that's why there are no students around.' Gohan thought.
"Thank you Sir, excuse us." Both Gohan and Tsukauchi bowed at the principle, then turned back and walked towards the entrance, opening the door, and stepped out of the room.
Once they were outside, Tsukauchi was the first to start a conversation. "I hope you'll pass the test and get your license tomorrow." He said as he walked in the corridor with Gohan.
"Yeah, I hope so." He replied before all of a sudden a big grumble could be heard from his stomach. Gohan was blushing at that embarrassing moment, sometimes he cursed his Saiyan genes for easily getting hungry like this, he just ate a burger earlier and now he already hungry.
"Hungry? How about some ramen? My treat." Tsukauchi said responding to the big grumble from his friend.
"Thanks Tsukauchi, and sorry for troubling you." He said, accepting the offer.
"No Problem."
Both of them got outside of the school, walked towards their car, got inside and drove away.
[1] If I remembered it correctly, there's an episode in Dragon Ball Super where Gohan tried to cook for Videl but he failed.
[2] I don't know if this canon or not in DBZ universe, but there was a moment when Goku got poisoned in the snake way, but it didn't work on him until they increased the dosage greatly, and it only made him asleep for a minute. So I think poison won't easily work for Saiyans.
That's all for this chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed, and thank you for reading this. Once again sorry for the bad English.
