Rise of The Hero
Chapter 4 : Decision
Tsukauchi stopped the car in a parking lot of a traditional ramen restaurant. He stepped out of the car and walked up to the restaurant, followed by Gohan. Inside the restaurant, both of them took a seat at the corner of the room.
Gohan took a seat and waited for the waitress to come and take their orders, while Tsukauchi took off his coat first before he took a seat.
Realizing the new customers came in, a waitress approached the two and take their orders.
"Hello, welcome to Hero Ramen. What can I get for you?" Said the waitress as she readied herself to write down their orders. It was a pretty old restaurant judging by the interior of the place, and not only that, the services were quite traditional too, seeing from how the waitress still using a note to take the customers' orders.
"I'll take the tonkotsu ramen. What about you Son?" The detective asked.
"I'd like the tonkotsu ramen too." He responded after he looked at the menu for a moment.
"Two tonkotsu ramen. Would you like to have the gyoza with that?" The waitress offered as she wrote the orders on her note.
"Yes." Gohan suddenly responded, not even looking at Tsukauchi, until his head slowly risen from looking at the menus on the table to the detective in front of him. And realised, Tsukauchi was the one who will pay for the food. "Oh right, I'm sorry, the gyo-"
"It's fine Son." The detective cut him and responded with a slight smile, before looking at the waitress again. "With the gyoza please."
The waitress let out a small chuckle before she responded. "Alright, two tonkotsu ramens with two gyoza. Is that all you'll be ordering?"
"Yes, please." Tsukauchi responded with a simple nod.
"Thank you for your orders, it will be ready soon." She then left both of them to give their orders to the chef.
"Thanks Tsukauchi, for your treat."
"No problem, Son. You Saiyan eat a lot huh?" Tsukauchi said.
"Well unfortunately... yeah."
"Unfortunate? why?" He asked, even though he knew what could be the answer. He thought that having to be able to eat a lot of food isn't really a bad thing.
"Yeah, well in my family, we have three Saiyans, me, dad, and my little brother. And we all like to eat, like a lot. Before I got married, I lived with my family and there were times where we don't have enough money to buy food, so sometimes we went out for some hunting to make food." Gohan responded, with scratching behind his head. "But it wasn't all that bad cause... you know, we have super powers, so it was easy and fun to do it."
If only Tsukauchi knew what Gohan meant by 'hunting' he'd be surprised. In his mind, he imagined that it was probably just a little sports of hunting deer or a totally normal fishing, even some people in this world who lived near the forest would still do that kind of activity. While in reality, what the Saiyan meant by ''hunting' were those times when they knocked out huge dinosaur with one punch and cut their tail so they can brought it home and cooked it, or those times when they caught giant fishes same size as a car with nothing but bare hands, and they did it underwater.
"What made things worse is my mom, she's always angry cause she had to do all the cooking and the dishes. Well sometimes me and my brother helped, but I don't know, she seemed to be angry all the time, especially when dad went out for training instead of working."
Hearing that Tsukauchi responded with a small chuckle. Gohan's family sounded like a 'unique' but fun family.
Gohan let his friend to finish his little laugh before starting a new conversation. "So uh, about All might-" when he was trying to ask about All Might, Tsukauchi took two paper cups from a pile of cups on the side of their table. He filled it with mineral water from the dispenser attached on the wall, then gave one to him. "Thanks." He said when he received a cup of water from him.
"So All Might, what about him?" Tsukauchi reminded him about the question.
"Right, about All might and-" Again, before he could finished his question, the waitress came and gave them their orders.
"Here's your orders." she said while putting their ramens and gyoza on the table. "Is there anything else I can bring you?"
"No, we're fine thanks." Tsukauchi responded with a smile.
"Enjoy your meal." She said with a warm smile before turning her back and walked away from both of them.
Tsukauchi took his chopsticks and tasted his ramen. While Gohan prayed first before he started to eat his food, his mom always told him not to forget his manner especially in public, eating included. When finally took a bite of the ramen, a satisfied expression came to his face.
"Wow… this tastes good."
"I know right, this place might be old and still have their traditional services, but the food tastes really good and the price is just right for my wallet." Tsukauchi replied after seeing his friend's reaction. "Anyway, what's up with All might?" He reminded the Saiyan once again about his question earlier.
"Oh right. Could you tell me more about him and his successor?" He asked, but saw a confused look on Tsukauchi's face as a response.
"I mean like, what's his quirk? You also said he's training a successor, does that mean he can transfer his quirks to others or is he looking for someone who already have a great quirk? Also, why do I have to train this kid when he has the number one hero as his master?" He gave a more detailed question.
"You sure asked a lot of questions... hmm let's see… about his quirk, it's a bit...complicated. His quirk's called One For All, unlike any other quirks, it's a transferable quirk that can be passed from one user to the next." Tsukauchi explained.
"One For All? A transferable quirk?" In response Gohan was a little confused with Tsukauchi's explanation.
Seeing the reaction, the detective then started to explain more about All Might's quirk.
"Yes, the name's came from it's nature; being 'One' quirk for 'All' people. You probably already know that people get their quirks passed from their parents, so they could have the similar quirks like their parents, or even a whole new quirk. Some even do quirk marriage so their kids could have a combined quirks from both parents." He said as he took another bite of his meals before continuing the explanation. "But One for All is different, the successor just need the sample of the predecessor's DNA in order to get this quirk. No matter if it's the hair, blood, or anything as long as it has the DNA of One For All user." He continued on explaining about One for All.
"Every wielders of this quirk usually gets different powers. All Might for example, he has the super human ability, like super strength, speed and durability, while the former wielder and also All Might's mentor Nana Shimura, had the power to float in mid-air [1], the fifth user had the power called Blackwhip." Tsukauchi continued on telling about One for all, while Gohan looking at him, listening to every single thing he said.
"If it's a transferable quirk, does that mean this new successor is quirkless? Or does he already has a quirk and one for all will be his other quirks?" Gohan asked.
"From what All Might told me, the kid's quirkless. That's why All Might trained him, so that he could have the power to wield this quirk."
"I see, so the kid needs to be trained before he get the quirk."
"Yeah, controlling One for All isn't easy, you have to train your body so that you'd be able to used it without any side effect." Before he continue, Tsukauchi took a drink from the cup of water. He placed the already empty cup in front of him, and continue the explanation. "This kid's being trained by All Might right now, and he made a great progress in his physical ability. But All Might said, even if the kid's already had the perfect physique, it's still going to be a shock for his body when he used One For All."
Gohan's head faced down when he heard that, a glimpse of memory about his time went into Super Saiyan phase two in his fight with Cell came to his mind, it drained his energy to the limit where he couldn't even move his body after that fight, the power of the phase two was too much for his body at that time, and now the same thing might happen to this kid when he gets One For All.
Tsukauchi looked at Gohan and he leant his back against the chair. "You said your power is about controlling energy right?" He asked which brought Gohan back facing him.
Gohan's head turned and looked at him for a moment before he started to respond. "That's why you want me to train this kid?" He said as he saw Tsukauchi nodded his head confirming the question.
"I know what you think, believe me. But this One for All and my power is completely different, mine is about controlling my own energy. Besides, I already got used to my power, cause I have this power since I was a kid. On the other side, this kid, he need to control a massive energy in his body which never had any power before." Gohan explained. "Honestly, I don't know if I can train this kid."
"It's worth a try." Tsukauchi replied to his statement.
Gohan responded with a sigh and head facing down for a moment, before he looked at Tsukauchi again to ask another question. "Anyway, about the fight between All Might and that villain five years ago. If the injuries were that bad, everyone should have known about his condition. But it seems like nobody know about that. He want to keep this a secret?"
"Yeah, All Might doesn't want the world to know about his state, so I hope you're not going to tell anyone about this. All Might's condition now is... worse than you think, he can only work his job as a hero three hours a day." Tsukauchi said as he filled his cup with water. "There are some who knew about this though, people like principal Nezu, and the Nurse at U.A, Dr. Shuzenji, and All Might's former partner." He continued to explain everything while keeping his voice low enough so that no one around would hear their conversation.
"Anyway, let's just eat these food, I'm pretty hungry right now." He said, putting an end to the conversation about All Might and started to eat their food.
Gohan agreed with that, he thought it was enough for them to talk about All Might as his stomach been asking him for food.
After a few minutes, they already finished their meals. Gohan, however, still thinking about how he would train this successor of One for All. Even though the basic theory of their powers were quite similar, it was all about controlling energy, but the power they use were different. Gohan used his ki to manipulate energy, and his super strength came from his Saiyan blood and training, meanwhile this kid's power came from a transferred quirk, the kid might didn't even know how big this power could be, can he control it?
Seeing his friend's concerned look, Tsukauchi tried to talk to him. "Son, I asked you to train this kid so he can took All Might's place and protect this world, but I don't want this to be a burden for you. You don't need to do this if you don't want to." Tsukauchi said smiling at him and made him snapped out from his thought.
"Thanks, I'll try my best to train this kid."
"Yeah… thanks, um maybe we should leave now?" He looked outside the window, seeing the sun was getting low, making the afternoon sky looked even more beautiful and also gave them the signal to go home.
Both of them got up from their seat. Tsukauchi walked towards the cashier to pay their food while Gohan walked out from the restaurant and wait for his friend beside the car. After they got inside the car, Tsukauchi started to drive away from the restaurant.
"So, do you have a plan to spend the rest of the day?" Tsukauchi asked while he was focusing on driving his car.
"Actually I'm planning on continuing my search for my jacket."
"You haven't found it yet?"
Gohan shook his head in response. "I think someone took it, it wasn't there the last time I looked for it, and I'm pretty sure that was the right place."
"Well if that capsule really contain a small house, and someone took it and opened it, it should've been on the news, so I assumed it haven't been taken by anyone?" Tsukauchi said.
"I hope so." Despite saying that, Gohan knew it was probably already been taken by someone.
After a few minutes, they stopped in front of an alley where Gohan left his jacket yesterday.
"Thanks, you've helped me a lot today." Gohan said before he opened the door and stepped out from the car.
"Hey it's fine, and sorry I can't help you with your jacket now, I got other things to do." The detective said from inside the car.
"No worries, you've done a lot to help me. I'm the one who's sorry to bother." With smile in his face, Gohan responded before he closed the door.
Tsukauchi replied with a nod and a smile could be seen in his face through the car window, then he drove away.
Seeing the car slowly fading away in the distance, Gohan then walked up to the alley but stopped after a few steps. He turned his head to the left, and saw the rather busy central park despite the sky starting to get dark. He decided to go there instead, his mind was filled with the question of how would he find the future threat for this world? And now he was asked to train a kid who never had any quirk in his whole life.
With all of those thoughts clouding his mind, he lost the intention to look for his lost goods, and decided to calm his mind on the park instead.
Once he got inside the park, Gohan took off his blue jacket suit, loosened his tie and walked towards an empty bench not far from the entrance. He took a seat there and let out a sigh as he turned his head facing up the sky.
"What am I gonna do about that kid? I haven't even find the cause for the problem in the future, and now I have to train someone who never have any quirks before?" He thought, and sighing again. "How strong is exactly our foe will be?" He had to admit, he was a bit worried about this future threat. What if they were stronger than him, had been a long time since the last time he trained. Also, he had no other info from Kitoki about it.
When he was thinking about these, with his eyes closed, and feeling the relaxing wind touching his skin, at that same time, he felt a very familiar energy. The energy attracted him to look at the direction of it. And he found a skinny guy with blonde hair in a yellow overcoat talking to a figure behind a tree, but he couldn't really see the other figure.
"His energy, feels like... All Might but a lot weaker, who is he?" He thought, narrowing his eyes to look at the man. "Wait, Tsukauchi told me that All Might can only be a hero about three hours a day, does that mean he turned to this skinny man when he doesn't work as a hero?" He continued as he remembered what Tsukauchi told him earlier. This also reminded him that Master Roshi, the sensei of his father, could also raised his power level and increased the size of his muscle.
But he tossed that thought out of his mind, it was just weird to think about that. "Nah it can't be, that's too odd. Just because their energy felt the same, doesn't mean they're the same person." When he was on Namek, there were plenty of energy that felt like Piccolo's but they weren't him, so he assumed that worked the same for this man. He turned his head up to the sky once again, and closed his eyes to relax.
After a few minutes, he felt that guy's energy was slowly getting away. "He's walking away from the park?" He asked in his thought, but still remained in his position, with his eyes closed, head facing up the sky.
When he was trying to relax over the wind blow touching his skin, he felt another energy slowly walking towards him. It was pretty weak, so Gohan opened his eyes and took a look at the source of that energy. He found a kid in a messy green hair, wearing a light green tracksuit, and red running shoes slowly walked his way to the same bench and took a seat on the left side. The kid's face was covered in sweat, and facing down his lap.
"Looks like he just done some training?" Gohan thought as he looked directly at the kid and noticed all his sweat. "Why did he look... sad?" Once again he questioned internally, as he narrowed his eyes at him.
The green haired boy still facing his head down, with all of his sweat dripping down his face. He opened a bottle of water with his shaky hands and drank from it.
"W-why is he keep looking at me…?" The boy thought in nervous while still drinking from his bottle. He knew Gohan was looking since he sat down on that bench. "Did-did I do something weird... something wrong?" He thought once again as he felt Gohan's stares became sharper.
After for a couple minutes straight looking at him, Gohan tried to start some conversation with the kid. So he reached out his left hand, trying to pat his shoulder. But when he reached the shoulder, the boy got up, and all of a sudden turned his face to Gohan.
"Yes! I'm sorry if I've done something bad to you sir! I'll leave if I disturbed you! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" He exclaimed while repeating his perfect ninety degree bow over and over to apologize if he had done something bad.
"Whoa! Calm down kid, you're giving us too much attention." Gohan said as he turned his head to the other visitors in that park, they were all looking at them.
"S-Sorry!" the boy responded as he quickly covered his mouth with his hands.
"Haha, it's okay." He chuckled lightly while gesturing his hand to let the kid took a seat in his side. "Anyway, see you got some sweat, working out?" He asked as the kid's already sitting beside him.
"Y-yeah, just d-done some training." He answered.
"I see... you looked very tired, you should get home and take some rest." He gave a little advice.
Gohan perhaps hadn't trained since the Buu incident. But he's still a fighter, he knew exactly a condition of one's body, and knew when to stop training to conserve energy.
"T-thanks, but I-I really need to train more. I have to, if I want to pass the test." Said the boy as he clenched his fists on his knees.
"Test? What test required this lots of training?"
"I-I'm planning on joining the hero entrance exam for the UA High." He explained.
"I see... But still, training too hard is not good for your body. You need not only to rest your body but also your mind, calming your mind is a part of training." Gohan said.
"I… uhh, don't know if I need that. Right now, improving my strength and physical abilities are the only thing that matter."
"Well, actually I can barely feel your power at all." Gohan thought, perhaps the kid had the spirit but that wasn't enough to pass the exam. "Well I couldn't force you, just giving some advice, it's up to you to take it or not." Gohan said with a sigh, but then he threw a question to the kid. "I'd like to ask you something if you don't mind?"
"Wh-what is it?" The kid asked as he looked at Gohan.
"Why do you want to be a hero?"
A few moment of silence came after the unexpected question was asked. The green haired kid still processing what he heard from Gohan with eyes opened wide, looking at the taller man.
"I... I always admire heroes since I was a kid, a-and All Might is one of my Idols... the kind of hero I want to be someday." The kid stopped and gave a little moment for himself to take a breath as he looked at the palm of his hands. "I always have high hopes to be a hero, always... until I found out that I'm quirkless." He looked down at his hands in his lap.
And at that statement, Gohan realized the reason why he can barely felt the kid's power.
"When the other kids my age already showed their quirks, I was there looking at them, envied them, thinking on how can they get their quirk and I... who wants to be a hero could not. My friends, my classmates, they always laughed at me, and told me that I can't be a hero because I'm quirkless. But I won't gave up so easily to achieve my dream, I want to prove them wrong. Until someone who I admire told me, that I can't be a hero if I'm quirkless, and better to ferget my dream."
Hearing what he said, Gohan narrowed his eyes in annoyance. The fact that someone told this kid to forget his dream, and more importantly it was someone he admire the most. It was unbelievable.
However, as much as he hated it, he understood why this 'someone' told him to give up. In this world, there are lots of bad guys and not just an ordinary bad guys but people who used their quirks the wrong way to do bad things, and to be able to fight against them, of course it'll be better if you had quirks.
"Then, when I thought I couldn't achieve my dream and better to forget my dream, the very same person who told me to give up, offered himself to help me achieve that dream of mine. He said he knew how to make a hero out of me, even though he knew, I'm quirkless, even though he knew the possibility for failure is bigger than the success." Continued the kid.
"And now, knowing that there was a chance for me to once again step forward and achieve my dream, I can't just ignore it and run from it. I told you earlier, All Might's one of my idols, and I want to be the next Symbol of Peace, just like him." He clenched his fists as if his dream was there and he wouldn't let it go again.
Gohan didn't know how or why, but the kid had lifted up his spirit. After hearing the story of the green haired person beside him, he couldn't help but smile at his will to be a hero. Now he can't wait to get into UA to meet the students and teach them to be the hero they always wanted to be. He hoped to see this kid as one of his students.
"Give me your hand." Gohan said as he tried to reach for the boy's hand.
"Wh-what? Why-" Before he finished the question, Gohan already took his right hand. And slowly, he transferred a little amount of his energy to the kid.
The kid's expression was... surprised to say the least. He could feel his energy restored, all the tiredness was gone, all his stamina that lost from the training, all came back. Gohan pulled his hand back when he thought the energy been restored enough.
Still surprised with the capability Gohan showed him, he looked at the Saiyan and asked. "Wha... How?"
"Let's just say that's my quirk? I just gave you a little of my energy." With a smile, Gohan got up from his seat with his blue suit jacket in his right hand.
"If you never stop on your dream, I believe you're going to be a great hero one day kid, I hope the next time we see each other again, you're already got into UA." He said with a smile before he looked at his wrist watch and realized that the time was already late. "I think it's time for me to go. Oh, and even though I already gave you some of my energy, I still think you better go home and take some rest, you really need it, believe me." He then walked away.
"Um, uh s-sir!" The green haired called before he was too far. Hearing that, Gohan stopped and turned to look at him. "T-thank you!" the kid said as he bowed at him.
"No, I thank you. Later." Gohan said with a smile, then he left and walked away from the park, meanwhile the kid was left a bit confused on why Gohan thanked him.
Few Minutes Later.
Gohan finally arrived at the front door of Yuuji's place. He looked at his watch, the time showed that he was a bit late.
On his way to go inside the pub, he saw the broken window from yesterday was already fixed. When he opened the front door, saw Yuuji's standing there behind the bar table, cleaning a beer glass... again.
"He often do that?" Gohan thought as he watched the bartender rubbing the glass with some kind of cloth that looked the same like the one he used yesterday. In almost every movie he watched that had a scene on a bar, a question of 'why did bartenders always cleaning up the beer glass every time they had nothing else to do?' always came to his mind. And now his new friend here, did the exact same thing, it was like watching a bar scene from a movie.
"Gohan." Voice of a girl came from his left, brought him to looked at his side, and found a girl with black ponytail hair, wearing a white button up shirt, and black skirt with apron around her waist.
"Oh, hi Emi." He answered with a smile.
"Yuuji told me you went out with Tsukauchi looking for a job. So how was it?" She asked.
"Ah, well I applied a job as a teacher in a high school. But they said that they couldn't accept me yet, cause I haven't got my hero license." He walked towards the bar table in front of Yuuji and took a seat in one of the stool chair.
"So you were applying for a hero school I assume?" Yuuji asked after he heard what Gohan said, he stopped cleaning the glass and gave the Saiyan a glass of water. "So which school are you in?"
"U.A High, thanks for the drink by the way."
"Wow U.A High huh? Not only it's a prestigious school, it's also the best hero school in Japan. Do you know how cool is that to be able to work there?" It was Emi who threw the question this time.
"Yeah I know, but they haven't accepted me yet. My hero license hasn't out yet"
"So you took the pro hero license test? How was it? And when will they give you the result?" She asked.
"Yeah, it was tough but I managed." He didn't want to say truth when it was actually easy for him. "They said they'll give the result tomorrow. I hope I'll pass that test."
"Don't worry, you will. By the way, you better take a shower now, we'll open the pub soon. I put some more clothes in your closet, you can wear them." Yuuji said as he got back with his activity cleaning those beer glass.
Gohan responded with a nod and walked up to his room upstairs, to take a rest for a while before he took a bath.
While he lay down on his bed, he remembered what Yuuji told him about the clothes, so he got up and took a look inside his closet. On the left side, he found two shirts, one brown and the other was black, and two trousers, one was a wool trouser and the other was a jogger, both colored in black.
"Wow, Yuuji, you really helped me a lot." He said in his thought. "I'll repay you, once I got my job. And whatever happen to this world, I'll protect you and Emi, I promised."
Meanwhile downstairs.
"You gave him more clothes? I thought you hate him and wanted to get him out of our way..." Emi said to Yuuji who was now stopping his activity of cleaning the beer glasses.
"I do, but right now to act nice in front of him is the best way to get more information and gain his trust, that way he'd never grew suspicious towards us."
"S-so you got any new information about him?"
"Just my assumption, from his appearance, he looks exactly like normal human of this world right?" He said as Emi then nodded in respond. "But his display of power and his energy is definitely not like any normal human being. The only human races I know that can wield those kind of power are the warriors of the earth in universe seven." He said with serious tone in his voice as he crossed his hands on his chest. "Other than them, the race with similar appearance as normal humans but has that kind of power could only be the Saiyans."
"S-Saiyans? W-what are you talking about!? Saiyans been wiped out from existence a long time ago!" Emi exclaimed but not loud enough so Gohan wouldn't hear them.
Still with crossed arms on his chest, Yuuji closed his eyes and exhaled for a moment before started to explain.
"So I've heard... but when we were in prison, I also heard that, there are some Saiyans who are still alive, and even defeated Frieza and Majin Buu in universe seven." He remembered the time when he overheard a conversation from the guards about the Saiyans of universe seven, the death of Frieza, their fight with Majin Buu, and even the duel with a God of Destruction.
"F-for a saiyan to defeat Frieza is a bit unbelievable, knowing the fact that he was the one who destroyed their planet. But you just said they defeated M-Majin Buu?" Confused and in disbelief was Emi after she heard that. But when Yuuji was about to respond, the steps of Gohan came from the direction of the stairs approaching the two.
"Hey uhh, Yuuji, thank you for the clothes, you really helped me a lot since the day I came here, so... thanks." He said.
"No matter Gohan, those were my little brother's, he didn't wear those anymore." He said as his eyes observed Gohan who now wore a plain black shirt with a matching jogger in his lower body.
"So, what were you guys talking about?"
"Oh we... were talking about opening the pub, so let's get ready. Emi, could you clean that side for me?" Yuuji said to Emi as his hand pointed at the left corner of the pub.
"S-sure." She then walked to the place.
A few minutes had passed after they opened the bar, and it was already filled with customers, mainly of them were males.
"This place's always this crowded?" Gohan asked Yuuji who was preparing some glass of beers behind the bar.
"Prime time, some people often came here after works."
"You always been this busy then?" He asked again as he took a seat on the stool chair in front of the bartender's table. "Why don't you get another workers? Are you sure you and Emi could handle all this?"
"We're busy only at this hour, after that, there's barely anyone coming. Remember last night the first time you came here?" What he said reminded Gohan about the very few customers they had last night.
"Ah right. But are you okay with that? Do you get enough money to pay Emi?"
"We got enough money, besides Emi's just a high school student, she worked here as a part-timer, so the money her pay isn't as much as a full time worker." He explained while he gave the beers to the customers on the other side of the bar table.
"Wait, she's a high schooler? How come you accepted her to work here?" Gohan asked in surprised. In his world, this kind of places are prohibited for students, the age restriction for this place is twenty years old in his world, no wonder if he was surprised that Emi's just a student.
"Well, she said that she really need some money, and I can't just ignore that. Besides, I told you, she only worked here as a part time waitress." He explained as he cleaned up another mug to prepare the order from another customer. "The age restriction for a part timer here in Japan is sixteen, and she's eighteen so..."
"Still too young for a pub's worker." Gohan said as he took a look at Emi who was cleaning a table in the corner.
"Due to the increase rate of poverty and neglect of children, the government change the age restriction for a part timers, especially waiters." Surprisingly it was a customer who sat beside him that responded to him. "Besides, it's better to have a young beautiful woman like her to work here. I wouldn't want to come and drink here if the only people I see are these men..." He said, this man seemed like starting to get drunk, as his face reddened and began to hiccup. "...she's a cure to my eyes after facing a computer the whole day at work."
"I see... ah ha ha" Gohan responded with an awkward chuckle and a bead of sweat streamed down the back of his head seeing the man slowly getting drunk after drinking about a... half of a one shot.
"He's weak towards alcohol, even the smell would make him drunk." Yuuji said after he saw the way Gohan looking at the drunk man.
After a few chats with Yuuji and some other customers, Gohan didn't realized how much the time already passed by. There were only a few customers left, some of them already walked their way to leave the pub.
And after another minutes, the only customer left, was the same sleeping guy from last night. He was sleeping in the same table as last night. Leaving the pub so quiet, the only sound could be heard was the guy's snore.
Another few minutes passed, all the customers already left including the sleeping guy as Yuuji asked him to leave when he decided to close the bar. After all the customers left, Yuuji, Gohan, and Emi cleaned up the place and then took a rest for a while after they done.
Gohan went upstairs, got into his room, to take a rest for a moment. All of a sudden, a beeping noise came to his ears. He looked at the direction of the sound, and found out that his phone was beeping. He got up and took the phone from the table.
"Hello Tsukauchi?" Gohan greeted, he knew that the only numbers in this phone belongs to Tsukauchi and Yuuji, Yuuji wouldn't call him while he was right there in the pub with him, so it must be Tsukauchi. Besides, the name's showed up on the phone.
"Hey Son." Tsukauchi replied.
"What is it so important that you call me at this time?" He asked as his eyes looking at the watch on his hand.
"Your test result, they sent me the result."
"Really? So what did it say?" Gohan asked with excitement while also quite nervous.
"You passed. And... not only that, you also made the highest score ever recorded."
"Really?" He couldn't really believe that result, even though he knew he did good in that test.
"Yeah, congrats! Got you your hero license here with me. The Sa-Saiya-Saiyaman? You sure you want to use that? People might questioned what it means, and it sounds... lame." Tsukauchi tried to read and pronounce the hero name in Gohan's hero license. "first, your real name is after a food, and now this. Don't you think having one odd name is enough?"
"Hey that's not an odd name! It took me two hours! Two! Before I came out with it. Besides, my real name isn't after a food, it's after my great grandpa." He replied a bit annoyed.
"Alright, alright sorry jeez, anyway, this also means that you might really going to be a teacher in U.A, you ready for that?" Tsukauchi asked. "I really don't want these teaching things to be a bother for you, you can stop if you want to."
"I think it's too late for that, besides I've already made up my mind. I'll join the UA." He said with a smile and confidence, he remembered the kid he met earlier in the park, that kid somehow lifted his spirit to join UA.
"That's what I like to hear. Okay I'll pick you up tomorrow, and remember wear a nice suit." Tsukauchi said, he was glad to know that Gohan would join UA.
Yes he wanted him to teach the students there to be a great hero, but one of the reasons why he asked him to be a teacher there was also because, that way he could supervise him better and easier, he can asked All Might to keep track on Gohan there, and if something goes wrong he had the number one hero to handle the Saiyan, that was what he thought. Though he hadn't told All Might about it yet.
"Yeah yeah I know, see you tomorrow." Gohan said before he hung up the call. Put his phone back on the table, and stepped out from his room to go back downstairs.
"Emi, I'll get you home. Oh and tomorrow we're off, I think it's better for me to do some cleaning in this pub." Yuuji said as he saw Emi nodded in response, but both of them averted their gaze to the side when Gohan walked towards them.
"Yuuji, let me get her home, you can stay here and take a rest. I'm the only one who didn't work as hard as you guys here so…" He said to Yuuji, which brought a surprise to Emi as her face turned red.
Yuuji turned and looked at Emi who was blushing and turned to Gohan again. "Well...if she's fine with that."
Emi on the other hand nodded as a confirmation that she was okay with the idea of Gohan to get her back home.
"Gohan, can you drive a car?" Yuuji asked from behind the bar. "You can use my car to get her home." He said as he threw a car key which Gohan caught easily. "Make sure you get her home safe, okay?"
"I sure will." He replied as he walked towards the front door but stopped when he remembered something. "Wait, I forgot my phone. Wait a minute, I'll get my phone." He said to Emi as he walked towards the stairs and went to his room. His other reason to go to his room was that, he also forgot to bring his fake driving license.
Meanwhile downstairs, "Listen, let him drop you a few blocks before our 'house', don't do anything that'll raise his suspicion towards us. And try to get new information of him, but be careful." Yuuji ended and saw Emi nodded in response, both turned their head to Gohan who was walking downstairs.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. Now come on." He walked towards the entrance of the bar, Emi looked at Yuuji and got a nod from him before she went following the Saiyan.
Outside the pub Gohan walked towards the one and only car there. "Wow, this is a nice car." He said, standing on the side of a black sedan car, looking at it with amazement, even though this wasn't the first time he saw this car cause it was always been parked there.
"Oh right, where are my manners." he then walked to the right side of the car, and opened the door for Emi. She smiled before she got inside the car, he walked to the driver's side, opened the door and got in, then he started driving.
Few minutes had passed, and no one started any conversation. It had been pretty awkward for a few minutes, until they came to a halt due to the red lights.
"So...ahh how long have you been working on the pub?" Gohan asked, trying to lightened up the situation, even though he knew that was a stupid question, a dumb way to start a talk.
Startled by the question, Emi averted her gaze from the road in front of her to him, quickly processed the question so she could gave the right answer.
"O-oh... a few weeks ago." She answered.
"I see, Yuuji told me that you're a high school student, is that true?" Gohan said, another dumb question as he already knew the answer, why'd he ask that?
"Y-yeah." Emi said, a bit surprised by his question and how Yuuji actually told him about that.
"Are you okay with that? I–I mean, being a student is already tiring with all the tasks school gave you, how do you manage your time?" He asked while he was looking at the traffic light waiting for it to turn green.
"It's the school holiday right now, so I can manage my time to do the work at the pub." She explained as she averted her gaze to look at the road ahead.
"Umm...sorry to ask you about this, but... why don't you look for another place to work? You know how the customers are in a pub, especially when the time's getting late, or they got too drunk." Gohan asked again.
"I... I have no other option. Other places are either too far from my home, already full with their workers, or those maid cafes." Emi said. "Some of my friends work as maids in a maid-café and asked me to join them, but I'd never want to get dressed like a maid and acting cute in front of people, that'd be embarrassing. Being a waitress in a pub is better."
"Even if you got teased by those men?" He referred to the thugs who teased her last night.
"I have you to protect me." Emi responded quickly, she didn't processed her answer carefully this time. That statement of course made Gohan blushed.
When she looked at him, she'd noticed the red on his face. Her face immediately turned red too when she realized it, she averted her gaze to the window, looking away from him. "I-I mean, you worked with us to protect the pub from those guys. B-besides, there's also Yuuji and some other good customers who would protect me from those people." She continued to explain and clear the misunderstanding between them.
"R-right ahahahah…" He responded with an awkward chuckle. Silence came again between them for a few moments, until the sound of the car could be heard started accelerating when the red light changed into the green one.
"S-so where's the direction?" He asked, feeling a little awkward.
"J-just turned left over there, I'll tell you when we get there." She said, pointing her hand into a T-junction a few meters in front of them but her head still turning to the side, looking outside the window. Another silence came between the two, until she decided to start another conversation. "Gohan, would you mind if I ask something about you?" She asked, her face now looked down, still too shy to look at him.
"S-sure." He answered nervously, in his mind he was thinking of a way to lie to her if she asked about his life. He tried to remember the false identity Tsukauchi gave him.
"Wh-where did you live before?" She asked, it was true that Yuuji wanted her to get more information about him for their advantage, but she also curious about him.
"I... I live in S-S-Sydney!" He tried to remember what was on his fake identity.
"Sydney?" Now she dare to looked at him, she knew that answer was probably a lie, but she was curious to why he picked that as his answer.
"Yeah! a wonderful place, full of great food!" He exclaimed with a nervous bead of sweat streamed down his temple. His eyes had a glance at Emi but his face remained to the front, facing the road.
"Really? I heard that there are a lot of animals in Australia, and they're quite dangerous." She said.
"Y-yeah! That's right! I played with the animals around my house all the time, especially the dinosaurs, they're friendly, but sometimes they got angry." And... he already screwed up, he didn't even know that dinosaurs didn't exist in this world anymore.
"Uuhh... Gohan?" She asked nervously as he glanced at her with a bead of sweat still streaming down his temple. "You do know dinosaurs are extinct right?"
"Whaaaa... o-of course I know, I... I mean who doesn't, right? I'm just j-joking about that. By dinosaurs I mean lizards, yeah we had some of them live in our backyard." His face and expression was as nervous as Mr. Satan when he was asked about what the Z fighters did in their fight against Cell.
"Umm... yeah I live in Sydney since I was a kid, with my parents and some friends." He said, trying to continue the story and make her forgot about the dinosaurs thing, even though she knew he lied about this next answer too.
"O...kay? So where did you go to school? I mean for someone who's considered by UA to be a teacher even when you haven't got your hero license, you must be smart and have really good mark." She continued to ask.
"A...actually I got homeschooled when I was a kid, then I went into college, I went to the University of Sydney." He said, he told her everything he remembered from the fake identity, even though it didn't say he was homeschooled. "And yes, it wasn't a hero school, that's why I didn't get any hero lessons and hero license."
"Then how did you learn to control your quirk? From what I saw that time when you beat up those men in the bar, you're pretty good at martial arts and controlling your quirk."
"Well, I have my dad and his friends, actually almost everyone in my family's circle are fighters, and I learnt from them." With a smile he said that as he remembered the time when he trained with his dad and Piccolo.
"But only my dad and one of his friend that really trained me to be a fighter, that friend of my dad was the first one to actually trained me and introduced me to the world of martial arts." While he was still focusing on the road ahead, Gohan's mind remembered the time when he was training with Piccolo in the wilderness.
"He was once the biggest rival of my dad, and he always determined to be stronger than my dad to defeat him. It's always amazed me to think how someone could really change from being the worst person you've ever known to being the one who will help you and always be there for you."
This time Gohan's memories changed to the time when Piccolo sacrificed himself to save him from Nappa's attack. That was the first time he felt so weak and useless in his life, but that was also the time when he decided to be stronger so he could protect the others, he even argued against Chichi when he wanted to go to Namek and revived Piccolo after he died protecting him.
Emi was a bit surprised with what he told her, she saw his expression changed after telling that story. She thought it might be because it had been a long time since he met his family and friends. She didn't dare to ask more about them, she doesn't want to see him sad.
Silence came between the two until she asked to stop the car.
"It's the place." She said.
"Here? but I don't see any houses here." He looked around the area only to found tall buildings that looks like an apartment buildings surrounded them. "Ah... I see you live in one of these apartments."
"Ye-yes, the way to my place isn't really fit for a car so it's better for me to walk there." She definitely lied about that, when they were close to her real 'house', she remembered that Yuuji told her to tell Gohan to drop her a few blocks before their 'house', so as the result, they stopped in the apartments area.
"You want me to accompany you to walk there?" Considering it was already late, he offered himself to accompany her just in case something bad happen.
"N-no, it's fine. It's not that far from here, besides I brought my pepper spray, I'll be fine." She said.
"Are you sure?" He asked one more time, just to make sure and got a nod from her as a confirmation. "Alright then, be careful." He said to her to end the conversation and let her get out of the car to go to her house. But she remained in her seat, didn't answer what he said, instead she asked him about something.
"Gohan... do you really think that, when someone decided to change to be a better person, they deserve to be pardoned or forgiven? Even if they've done horrible things?" Emi asked as she stayed on her seat, facing down her lap with a sad expression could be seen in her face.
The question brought him to looked at her. He was silenced for a moment before he responded that question.
"Everyone deserve their second chance, Emi. I have few friends who had done horrible things in the past, even the worst thing you could ever imagine, they've been there. I haven't only done good in my life either, I've done bad things too..." He said, remembering the time he played on his fight against Cell which caused his father's death.
"But no matter what horrible things you've done in the past, if you plan on changing and be better in the future. I don't see no for forgiveness." his own words reminded him of Vegeta who had changed from an evil Saiyan who would destroy the whole planet, into a warrior who sacrificed himself to destroy Majin Buu and protect the earth.
"Mistakes are lessons, and learning from those are opportunities." All his memories when he fought Cell and Majin Buu was still so fresh in his mind, he underestimated them, he endanger the other, and now that he knew the consequences of his actions, he would never do the same mistakes again, that was the lessons he took from his mistakes.
"Thank you Gohan." She said looking at him, saw him nodded and smiled, then she got out from the car.
"Good night." He said from inside the car as she nodded in respond. He then started to drive away from the place to go back to the pub.
She started to walk to her real 'house' when Gohan was already far enough in the distance. The location was still a few blocks away from her place.
Once she entered the area where her real house took place, the surroundings turned into a really silent night, the only sound she could hear was her own breathing. This was all because the area around the house didn't have any people to live around there, it was an abandoned area to be exact. It was once a normal busy place full with people and houses, but due to a villain attack, the place was destroyed, houses and buildings collapsed. It'll take a long time to be fixed, also lots of money would be needed, and because of that reasons the government delayed the reconstruction.
Even though it was so silent and dark around there, she kept on walking and paid no heed to her surrounding, that was until she stopped when three men came to her and surrounded her.
"*whistle* where are you going this late babe?" teased one of them who positioned himself behind her. However, unlike the time when she got surrounded by those bastards in the pub, she didn't flinch or even looked scared at all.
"*sniff* hmmm what a fragrant, so sweet..." Said another guy as he ruffled her hair and sniffed it. "How about you come with us, we'll give you the sweetest things you could ever taste. Oh and don't even try to scream... or else.." The same guy said, as he pointed a pocket knife to her waist.
"I see you're the shy type." The man from behind once again teased her as he saw her head face down and didn't even showed her face. "There's nothing to-" Before the guy could finished, he felt a really hard object hit his face, and as quick as he got hit, he was thrown about ten metres back until he hit the ground. The guy was rolling around in pain with his hands covering his face in pain.
This of course brought the shock to the other two as they shouted to the fallen man asking if he was alright. When they tried to find out what actually happened, they looked at Emi and found her left hand raised on the left side of her head with her fist clenched. That same time they realised it was Emi who hit their friend with the back of her hand without even looking at him.
"Watch out! She has quirk!" Alarmed, the man on the left shouted, telling the other guy to be more careful. Both of them jumped away from her. But it was too late as Emi quickly opened her hands, reached the heads of the two, and grabbed them by the face.
It all happened very quickly, none of them could react to her movement. The next thing they knew, they felt their head bumped into a very hard object. The hit got to their heads once again but harder than before. At that very moment they realised, she grabbed their heads and bumped it into each other. Emi bumped their heads once again and then slammed them to the ground, leaving them both unconscious with their heads planted on the hard ground like an ostrich.
The first guy who got hit was shaking as he saw both his friends already unconscious. The pain on his face didn't matter anymore, he just wanted to get out from there, and ran away from her. He turned and trying to get away, still shocked with what just happened he couldn't even stand on his feet, and crawled his way to get away.
But to his surprise, she appeared out of nowhere in front of him. Feeling himself so weak and couldn't do anything, he closed his eyes and waited for the pain she would give him. But, nothing happened, he waited, and nothing happened, until he opened his eyes and saw Emi's hand in front of him, more accurately right in front of his forehead. Her thumb and middle finger touching each. And then *flick*, he got thrown back about twelve metres back and knocked out when his head hit the hard massive rubble from a collapsed building in that area.
A few moments of silence came after the defeat of the three. She raised her hand in front of her, looking at both of them as she opened and closed her palms, it looked like if she didn't knew that she had that strength.
"I see, my power came back. My energy, my strength and speed." She said.
And after that she started to walk to the direction of the house. When she reached it, she opened the door and got inside. She went to the backside of the house and after a few steps she got deep enough inside the house, and stopped in front of a room.
She opened the door, and went inside that room, surprisingly there could be found three corpses, one of a girl that looked exactly like her physically, the other looked exactly like Yuuji, and the other one looked the same like that muscular guy who always slept in the pub.
She kept walking inside the room, went towards an armchair that was occupied by someone. She stopped after she got closed enough.
"I'm back." she said as she bowed with her right hand on her upper left chest, then she looked at the man in the chair. "Lord Bojack."
There it is guys the 4th chapter, the next chapter is on the works, hope I can upload it soon. And yeah I used Bojack and two of his subordinates as the main villains for Gohan in this story.
