Sorry for the long wait. I didn't lose interest, I was just not confident in my own skills.
I took some time to train with my powers under the Basilicom. This also helps me keep an eye on the Mascot. It's way too similar to the Raysphere. Thanks to the army, I could afford to take my eyes off Leanbox for a bit.
The troops have gotten more experience and have taken care of most of the Locusts. All that's left is Coalition. A rat I've interrogated squeaked where he's at.
This will be the biggest step for us. He's hiding in a storage facility that owns a bunch of warehouses. Turns out I did a bigger number on him than I've thought. He's been recuperating all this time. Once he's gone, the other three gangs will be next.
"Lady Cole, here's the files on Coalition," Chika said to Cole and handed her a file on the enemy. Coalition was a decorated Leanbox General who was honorably discharged. Yet he's joined the ASIC and killed innocent people, people he's sworn to protect. Something's had to happen. A shift like this doesn't happen without reason.
"Bungie has also reported that her team has the warehouse surrounded. They're waiting for your signal," Chika said and Cole inhaled deeply. Thanks to their talk, Chika and Cole now have an amicable relationship. While not a friendship, they're capable of effectively working together. There is definitely still many things left unsaid.
"Have First Light, Second Son and Cave rendezvous. This is our chance," Cole ordered. Chika nodded and Cole walked past her. She cracked her knuckles as she left the Basilicom. Cole jumped onto some telephone wires and began to grind away. Heading towards the storage facility where Coalition is supposedly hiding.
She looked down and saw a small group of people outside the gate. Cole jumped off the wires and rolled to her feet when she hit the ground. "Lady Cole, we have the place surrounded by our snipers. On your command, we'll put an end to the Locusts," Bungie reported with a salute. Cole nodded and looked at Second Son and First Light.
"You two, I want you to watch the ground troops from above. Their attention will be further divided," Cole ordered. "Got it boss lady," Second Son said. First Light nodded a bit shyly. Cole turned to Cave and Bungie. "Cave, you'll be leading the force in the back. Bungie, on my command, bust in as loud as possible," Cole said and Bungie saluted while Cave stared at Cole with trepidation.
"Lady Cole, what about you? Where will you be in the raid?" Cave asked. Cole looked at the large facility. "I'm taking Coalition down," Cole replied firmly. "My Lady, I cannot reccomend you go alone. As your personal maid, I should accompany you and assist you in this assassination," Cave explained.
"I'll be fine Cave," Cole said quickly, trying to hurry this along. "My lady, your previous encounter with Coalition ended in disaster. You were heavily injured and missing," Cave brought up. "Ehhhh.. I'd say it was about even," Second Son said with a shrug.
"Cave... Alright, you can help me," Cole sighed. Cave gave a low curtsy and followed Cole as she climbed up a building. With a wire that connected to the facility's roof. Cole saw a bunch of men dicking around the warehouses. This is where the remaining Locusts made their base. Cave placed a radio to Cole's mouth and Cole gave the signal to begin.
Bungie kicked the gate off the hinges as her soldiers rushed in. Cole saw the flashing lights of gunfire and grenades. Then heard loud cracks as snipers took down anyone trying to escape. The back force rushed in, cutting off any escape routes the snipers couldn't see. Cole saw flashes of neon light and a cloud of smoke dash above the battlefield.
Second Son threw Smoke Grenades down onto the men below. First Son became a blip above the Locusts as some tried to open fire on her. She fired a stream of neon bolts at them. Cole jumped onto the wire and grinded on it. The battle below giving her a clear shot at the roof. Cave ran across the wire, following closely behind.
Cole jumped off the wire and landed on the roof of the tall storage facility. Cave landed behind her with elegance. Cole climbed off the edge and was pressed against a window. She punched the glass apart and jumped in. Two guards who were relaxing in the office they were squatting in scrambled to grab their guns. But their fell to the floor as Cave had also jumped in. Landing a headshot with her dual pistols.
Cole let out an Electric Pulse and looked around. She noticed a few more guards outside a door in the hallway. It lead to an executive office. Along with a bunch of them heading up from downstairs. "Got a bunch of guys heading up, Coalition has to be in the executive office. I sensed someone in there," Cole relayed and Cave nodded. "Your orders?" She asked.
"Give our friends below a goodbye present from me," Cole said with a smirk. "Very well, should I bake them a cake, pudding, prepare a stew...?" Cave asked and Cole looked at her. "...It was a joke milady, I will give them a bullet hell as a present," Cave declared with a deep curtsy. They rushed out into the hallway. The four guards all pointed at the two. Cave precisely pierced their skulls with one shot. She then turned and was back to back with Cole. "There will be no reinforcements. Once I have finished, we will all reconvene on your position," Cave said. Before Cole could say anything, she rushed down the hallway.
Cole kicked open the door of the executive office to see Coalition sitting in a chair. He had lost any rugged good looks he had. His skin is white as snow. His bald head had blackened scabs like scales. His teeth are yellowed and gnarled. With his lower teeth covering his upper lip. He had dried blood around his mouth. Whitened eyes with dark circles under them, to make them more pronounced. He had no eye brows or any hair at all. His nose was smushed and curled upwards like a beast.
Cole could barely tell where Coalition's chin ended and neck began. His armor was sleeker this time. "The RAAM armor, specially designed," Coalition said. Cole's lip curled downward into sneer. "You got some brains on you. Why the hell are you doing this? To your own people?!" Cole asked.
"The people need to see war, the CPUs are complacent and soft. Nations are mere crutches. ASIC, Deity of Sin? I don't care about them. I want a war, and I want to win it," Coalition explained. Cole's fern colored lightning flickered around her arms. Coalition gave a demented smile and got out of his seat sharply. Then he kicked the desk to Cole.
She threw an Alpha Rocket at the desk the second it flew at her. The desk exploded into splinters and smoke. Coalition's large fist crashed against Cole's cheek. Sending her flying out of the room and into the hallway. Cole rolled backwards onto her feet. She saw Coalition charging at her with a serrated knife the size of a shortsword. The electricity around her arms condensed and sharpened into blades, the Gigawatt Blades.
Cole held up her arms in a cross, blocking the stab. Which caused her to slide back from the force of his blow. 'Christ! He ain't playing around this time!' Cole exclaimed internally. Cole tilted her body to avoid another stab. Then stepped back, dodging a swipe of the knife. She drove one of her Gigawatt Blades into his shoulder. Coalition hissed and grabbed Cole's collar. Then Coalition headbutted Cole, sending her through a couple of floors.
Cole was on a more spacious floor of the building. She dismissed her Gigawatt Blades and threw down a couple of Shock Grenades as Coalition jumped down. His boots shook the floor when he landed. The floor beneath him cracked under the weight. Then it exploded in light fern colored electricity. Cole watched him fall down below.
Only to see him jump up with a cloud of green and black buzzing bugs surrounding him. In his hand is a double barreled turret which revved up and fired. Cole held her hand up to bring out a Polarity Wall to block the hail of bullets. However, Cole felt her left leg get grazed, along with her left shoulder and right arm. Cole dismissed the shield and the world around her slowed down. Her eyes focused on the turret and she fired a Precision Bolt.
The turret exploded in his hand and Coalition was sent through the wall. Cole was also sent through the wall on the opposite side. She coughed and groaned, she drained some of the computers in the office. Then she got up, her outfit was singed and smokey. Cole's eyes widened as a swarm of bugs flew at her. She threw a couple of Redirect Rockets which spiraled and caught most of the bugs in the swarm in the ensuing explosion. Leaving a cloud of red mist.
Cole saw a large hand come out of the cloud of red mist holding a serrated knife. Cole created a Polarity Wall. Coalition's knife stabbed through the shield and poked Cole's stomach. The electricity conducted through the knife and around Coalition's armor. Causing him to drop the knife.
Cole weaved around a few slow uppercuts. His large fists going past her head. Then she pushed on his arm, causing Coalition to spin. As he came around, he tried to backhand Cole. However, Cole blocked it with her arm. Then Cole blocked a kick with her leg. Yet she felt her leg crack from that kick. Cole kicked back at his hip. Coalition grabbed onto Cole's ankle and his other hand wrapped around her throat. Lifting Cole into the air.
Coalition ran across the office and hoped to smash Cole against the wall. Yet the second Cole's foot touched the wall. She pushed off it and spun around out of Coalition's grip. Kneeing the back of his head as he crashed through the wall. Coalition laughed as he pulled himself out of the rubble. "Hot damn, I like you Lady Cole. Vert wouldn't have had the balls to face me herself. Congratulations, out of all the adventurers and soldiers i've seen. You're the only one who I respect," Coalition wheezed out.
Cole scoffed and looked carefully at Coalition. "Keep your respect to yourself. The thought of associating with you at all makes me sick," Cole growled. Coalition smiled and cracked his neck. "I would've been upset if you did accept it. The best prizes are the ones who don't want to be won," Coalition said and Cole raised a brow.
Cole rolled around a shoulder charge from Coalition. Then she used a Magnetic Pulse on Coalition's armor to pick him up. Then she hurled him through the window, sending him outside. Cole raised her hand up and drained the lights above her. She peeked out the window and looked down. Soldiers had their rifles on Coalition as he hung onto a windowsill a bit below Cole.
Cole began to climb up onto the roof with Coalition following behind, slower. Once Cole got up to the roof. She looked down and jumped off with fern colored lightning gathered around her legs and arms. She raised her arms up like she was going to smash something. Coalition, eager to meet his opponent pulled on a ledge and pushed up with his legs. Jumping to intercept Cole. However, this lust for battle, is exactly what Cole had exploited.
He could've entered the building on another floor, or just moved out of the way and Cole would've missed entirely. Yet he wanted a war, he wanted a fight, he wanted revenge for their last encounter. This impulsivity and desire for conflict is why he was just hit with a Thunder Drop.
The two crashed onto the ground with an explosion of lighting and dust. Creating a crater where Coalition's back hit the ground. Cole got off him and breathed in deeply as Coalition lied there, helpless. He was done, he had lost. Cole stared down at Coalition in contempt. "Do it... you won, kill me," Coalition requested. Bungie was bringing restraints and tools to strip him down, to contain him.
(?)Karmic Moment
This bastard... he really wants me to kill him. It'd be easy to kill him and be done with it. His gang is through and I got him right where I want him. However, I could possibly get information out of this guy. I have a lot of questions and he needs to pay for his crimes.
But i've seen how containing can backfire, I don't want another Alden. Because if he gets loose, then more people will be hurt. Should I end the threat now or later?
Cole looked down at Coalition and then at Bungie. Thinking hard, all the lives lost, the property damage, the broken families and survivors. Cole knew exactly what Coalition wanted, and Cole will deny him that. She turned to Bungie and nodded. "Strip him down, make sure he has no weapons or gadgets. Then bring him into the Basilicom's secure prisons," Cole ordered.
-Good Act-
Good actions reinforce your reputation.
Coalition smirked and looked at Cole. "Heh, alright then," Coalition said as he cooperated with being detained. Cole watched him and the remaining members his gang be hauled off. Cave had walked out of the shadows, bloodied and bruised. "It's over," Cave said in disbelief that The Locusts were through. "Not yet, just one down, three more to go," Cole replied.
After taking down The Locusts and announcing that to the people. Shares skyrocketed, i've proven my worth to the people. Coalition was faced with life sentence after life sentence. He agreed to cooperate and provide more information on the going ons.
I had a lot of questions. What's with the Deity of Sin? How did he get in contact with ASIC? What happened to the CPUs and where are they? If ASIC is one syndicate, why are there four factions warring with each other? Who are the top dogs of the other factions? And who is in charge of the entire syndicate?
I'll meet with Coalition soon, however. The Killer Instincts are our next target. They've been swiping civilians off the streets, doing God knows what to them. The biggest threat to the people has been taken care of. Now for the rest.
So, i'm sure your wondering. Why is killing Coalition considered 'Bad Karma'? Well, InFAMOUS's core theme is indulging in selfish desires and putting your personal feelings aside for the greater good.
Killing Coalition would be that, selfish and wouldn't do anything more beneficial than arresting him. It's not an evil choice, but a selfish one. That's what I want to get across with this take on the Karma System.
