After rigorous backtracking, Rex stopped in his tracks, feeling a hint of tiredness overcoming his being, and pressed a hand on the wall, to make sure to stable his feet.

Taking a deep breath, he gained a bit of his energy from the break. What the heck? Was this an alleyway or a freaking maze!? Probably just the eerie surroundings plaguing his mind. He pushed that thought away and peek his head out of the edge of the wall. A wave of relief crashed on him as he finally caught the sight of the streets of Racoon City.

Never thought he'd be relaxed just by the sight of the dirty road, but here he was. He'll just have to deal with that fact.

The relief on his face fizzled out, turning into surprise and confusion in all of the same time. Why was this? Well, his sense of scent took notice of an odd thing.

The rotten flesh smell was back.

Rex took another whiff of air just to make sure. And his nose never failed, he was in fact smelling that appalling odor once again. That's curious. At first, he chalked it all up to dumpster smell, but currently he was now far away from it, yet the aroma came back with a vengeance.

Hold on... Wait a minute.

Rex pinched a part of his jacket, pulling it up right in front of his nose. Taking a sniff, he had realized that the smell was coming from him. Though, he can only pick up hints of the same rotten odor, his jacket not entirely having the same thing.

"Blah~" It still smelled bad, though. Rex's hold had dropped, letting the piece of fabric fall back into place. "I need to get this washed asap."

Mentally shrugging it off, he got back on track, taking a left turn, blissfully unaware of what's really going on. As he took five steps forward, things started becoming more strange. Noise had now appeared out of the blue, surprising him a bit.

It wasn't what he came to expect from Racoon City. From somewhere far, gunshots, more specifically submachines, could be heard firing exponentially. It's not only those either, Rex could vividly make up screams of...agony?

Just what was going on?

A part of his mind came to a conclusion; A Gang War perhaps? Racoon City ain't exactly a clean place, I mean he should know.

Wait...his ears picked up on something new. It was a disturbing noise. Gurgling and lifeless groans was the next thing he had managed to hear. He didn't know why, but the sounds of it made his skin crawl.

His eyes focused on the end of the alley, from there he saw a orange kindling light from the edge. Rex quirked an eyebrow in both curiosity and confusion. Taking one step, he hesitated to make another move, but the other part of his mind says go for it.

He gulped down his nervousness. With his curiosity getting the better of him, he marched forward, silently anxious for what it has in-store for him.

Placing a hand on the edge of the corner, Rex quietly peeked his head out of the wall, and from what he saw, he was caught off guard.

Rex's eyes widen with his dark pupils dilated from shock. He...he...saw nothing but chaos. With him unconsciously walking, he saw more of it. The sight was like it came from a disaster movie.

Banged up cars all scattered over the street, with either broken windshields, tires, fronts, and the majority of them seemed to have all above. There was fire everywhere. The road was also closed off from one another with metal barricade that looked flimsy at best. The surrounding buildings and structures was at its worst state imaginable; broken glass, terribly messed up insides, and...blood?

Yeah, in fact, everything was covered with blood!

And Rex drank in the sight with pure disbelief. "What the hell is happening?" He couldn't help but mutter a question, directed to no one in particular. Everything was fine moments ago, and...this just suddenly came out of the blue? It was hard to believe any of that. Hell, he couldn't believe anything in front of his eyes.

Everything felt so...real, yet there's that hope inside of him that thinks this was all just a big bad nightmare.

...But unfortunately, this was only the beginning of his roller coaster down absolute nightmare.

Rex didn't know what to do. He just stood there horrified and speechless about it all. His mind begged whatever god exist above him to wake him up before anything could get worse. He doesn't even know if things could become any worst.

Yet, it did...

Groaning...

Not like any groans he'd heard. The groans he was hearing sounded lifeless. Like a corpse of it were to make sounds. His ears kept on hearing it. The groans were later replaced into... munching? It was morbidly specific to say, but it sounded like it was devouring and peeling off a skin.

Rex unconsciously turned his head towards the general direction of where he's hearing the noise from, and from the looks in his eyes, it was nothing good.

'What the...hell...' He questioned, seeing a man with his back turned on him, kneeling and was...eating something out of the ground? From there, Rex couldn't tell if he's homeless, the tattered up appearance and eating in the middle of the streets says that's the case, but his clothes was a business suit that no homeless person would even dream of owning. Not knowing what to do or react exactly, he brought his hand up and held it to the same level as his chest. "S-Sir...?"

His tone of voice was uncertain, it would since the place he calls home was now a living hell, and barely audible to the normal ears, but somehow it caught the man's attention.

The man stopped whatever he was doing and sat still for a minute, though it felt like more than that in Rex's perspective.

Suspicion rose up in his gut. The feeling screamed for him, yet went ignored. Though, Rex was certainly on alert.

Tired sounding groans followed after the eerie silence between the two, coming from the man on his knees. Slowly, the man turned to his side, still groaning. The left side of his face were now displayed, making the street punk kid's eyes widen in shock.

Rex couldn't help but take a step back from what he was seeing. The man who he thought was a human looked terrifying. His...its skin was paler than a ghost. The eyes lacked pupils, only being just creamy-white marbles. The mouth part of his face was covered with thick crimson blood, with some of it dripping down.

It was clear, this man wasn't a man, at least not anymore...

It's...A Zombie.

RESIDENT E.V.O:

The Fall Of Racoon City

A Resident Evil x Generator Rex Crossover

...Yeah sorry if you were expecting a new chapter. It's still heating on the proverbial oven. Thanks to in no part to school. Man, all my problems could be literally trace back to school.

Anyways, if you weren't aware, I've become an avid fan of the Resident Evil Franchise, and I simply couldn't help myself into crossing it over with Generator Rex. But – other than the fact that I'm a fan of both series – I have my other reason. Generator Rex has delved into horror on a few times, the most prominent being the "Breach" Episode. One could argue that it was basically inspired by Silent Hill, another survival horror game, and I'd agree with you. But when rewatching the episode, I figured I should lean into GenRex's horror elements. And at that point, I was basically obsessed with anything Resident Evil. And so, I wrote it...

This story is still a work-in-progress. Unlike the other stories of mine, I'm taking my sweet time with this, so it might not even release next year. I uploaded this, because I figured why not? No one can stop me!

That's all I have to say, again I'm sorry for no new chapter, I'm working hard on it as fast as I could. GOODBYE~!
