"Eh!? You didn't call us for entertainment!?" Stunned, Tabitha says shocked by the news as she and Blair both share a look while the unconscious Arisa lies flat on the sofa still shaking from the aftermath of the small sippet of madness prior.
"Not exactly it was some sort of distraction." Death sighs getting on track.
"That's not what he said." Tabitha points to the stunned Spirit squeaking from the pointed glares of both Death and Ava, not words needing to be shed as Death raises his hand.
"Of course he said that." Tiredly, Ava crosses her arms over her chest.
"No! It's not like that!" Scared, Spirit wails whimpering fearful of the hand only to be swiftly struck down by the iconic reaper chop.
"And you wonder why you'll die alone?" Ava sneers scowling at him disgust drenched in her tense tone.
"I just wanted to keep people happy." Sadly, Spirit bows her head ashamed.
"Happy?" Huffing, Ava arches a brow befuddled.
"I just…I know things have been stressful for you Lord death I mean with the battle of BREW costing your son and then Asura's resurrection and Ava leaving. I saw how down you were, how lonely you were it made me think to my own wife when I was going through the divorce. I knew you were trying to keep people's hopes up by being all cheery but even when you thought you were alone. I saw how lonely you were lord Death, the way you'd sometimes turn to see if Ava were there but wasn't how you'd stay in the death room talking to no one…I thought this would cheer you up because you needed it. You were there for me during my rough time and I wanted to pay you back so I thought this party would help." Honestly, Spirit confesses to the others as Death falters from his words turning away from the frowning Ava.
"Spirit…" Sighing, Ava pinches the bridge of her nose exhaustion etched into her tired tone.
"Ava Lord Death really took you leaving the worst I know he acts all goofy but he really did miss you…" Earnestly, Spirit tells Ava.
"…What do you expect? We have been together for centuries." Coldly, Ava dismisses.
"Ava…" Death sighs sadly at her as Ava glares to the side.
"You went behind my back Death you knew how stressed I was with BREW you knew my bloody history with it and you gave it to Kid of all people." Pointedly, Ava reminds Death.
"I just…with Arachne I just wanted to make sure he was ready if worst came to worse I mean with Medusa you'd never know." Nervously, Death tries to reason to his wife but…
"So you thought to risk our son. I didn't give birth to him to be your puppet Death." Pointedly, she points out grimacing, closing her eyes sadly, not again anyway…internally, she remarks under her breath brow furrowed.
"He never was my puppet…" Pained, Death grimaces at the thought.
"And I'm meant to believe that?" Annoyed, Ava crosses her arms over her chest cross, scepticism sketched into her furrowed facial features.
"If I may…" Meekly, Spirit steps forward frowning.
"You've said enough Spirit." Scowling, Ava raises her hand flat to Spirit scowling at him noting the tie tied around his head dangling down the side of his head. Ava closes her eyes exasperated, not having the energy to deal with him, not now. She feels the sharp sting resonating in her head.
"I just want to say this I've seen how lord death is around Kid he does care for him." Honestly, Spirit says to the unamused Ava.
"Spirit as much as I appreciate your words you haven't known this guy as long as I have. None of you have seen what I have." Annoyed, Ava points to said male flinching from his words.
"But I'm not that person anymore." Anguished, Death tells her only making Ava grimace, turning her head away from him.
"And I'm meant to believe that? After everything…?" Upset, Ava bows her head, brushing the shy tear threatening to fall to the side breaking Death's heart when seeing her try to keep a stiff upper lip, by biting it as she tries to compose herself, not wishing to let loose any more of the madness within her, having let slip a shy strip of it already as she looks over at the girl. That was nothing to think she could still do that…
"If you love him you would…" Spirit steps up making Ava slam her eyes shut, her facial features contorting from his attempts at trying to mingle in things that did not concern him.
"Spirit just…shut up. This has nothing to do with you." Fed up, Ava snaps sharply at Spirit taking him aback when seeing her glassy gold.
"…You know you were partying just a minute ago." Annoyed, Death points out brow furrowed at him as Death lingers behind Ava, attempting to reach out but falters from her firm frown.
"Well that would be the alcohol." Sheepishly, Spirit smiles shyly at both gods, their eye twitching at his sheepish smile as Ava simply shares a look with Death raising his hand swiftly delivering another reaper chop to the moron before them.
"Look I brought you three to help me rescue our son if the two witches don't want to cooperate…then we'll get rid of them." Tiredly, Death gets back to the topic at hand. He reveals the truth to the other witches, his voice soon darkening turning back to its original sound making the others shudder terrified while Ava simply arches a brow by the voice change.
"Point proven." Ava remarks looking over at Arisa still sleeping on the sofa.
"You wanna go to prison for the rest of your lives or help us with the mission? You choose." Sid appears behind the other terrified witch.
"Whatever you chosen say bye bye to your freedom." Stein smirks smugly as he looks over at the unconscious Arisa by his side.
"Wha…what do you want from us?" Terrified, Tabatha demands from the two.
"We want our son back." Together, both Death and Ava chorus confidently, resolved in their endeavour to get their son back.
"Here you go Shinigami sama a frog." Beaming, Blackstar smiles as he suddenly shoves a frog on Death's mask making Ava blink baffled at the sight of the frog slapped on his face.
"…A frog?" Frowning, Ava blurts out only then to see Death raise his hand.
"REAPER CHOP!" Death swiftly slams his fist down on Blackstar once more, ruby red gushing out of his head.
"And a dead body at that…two for the price of one." Ava whistles staring down at the battered beaten Blackstar.
"Shinigami…" Said scared frog feeble whimpers as it leaps off Death's mask.
"Look it's Eruka." Tabitha recognises.
"Tabatha…" Eruka recognises the witch.
"Meister Kim Diehl here Marie told me to come here." A familiar pink haired girl calls out as she too enters the room.
"Ah Kim!" Tabatha recognises the other witch.
"Eh what are you all doing here? Is this for real?" Stunned, Kim blinks baffled by the sight of the witches.
"That's right." Death confirms.
"Now that we're all here time to get fitted." Stein says standing up from his seat making the others arch a brow not liking his words nor his sadistic smirk as next thing everyone knew, they were in the hallway in the nurse room with the witches in the room with Naigus and the others entering leaving the kids and Ava out in the hallway.
"Excuse you?" Kim furrows her brow but it falls to deaf ears as they are guided to the nurses room.
"ARGHH!" Screeching, Kid cries out horrified marker on one side of his face while the other is clear.
"HOW ABOUT THIS? HOW ABOUT THIS? HOW ABOUT THIS?" Cackling, Gopher giggles giddily grinning as he hits Kid's torso with a riding crop of some sort.
"STOP!" Scowling, Kid wails to the high heaves.
"HAHAHAHAH!" Gopher giggles giddily continuing cackling to his hearts content.
"STOP IT!" Incensed, Kid pleads horrified.
"DID YOU THINK I WAS GOING TO DO THIS ON BOTH SIDES!?" Smugly, Gopher taunts Kid.
"NO JUST IN THE RIGHT!" Kid answers anguished.
"What the hell have I walked in on…!?" The door creaks open to both Ingram and Noah, the two staring stunned at the sight before them.
"A mistake. Gopher…what are you doing?" Noah calls out brow furrowed towering over Gopher freezing from his voice alone, flinching from it even.
"N-Noah sama…" Shakily, Gopher whimpers pain laced in his tone, tears threatening to fall.
"What have you done to my poor collection? It'll end ruined now I'm in a bad mood make me and Ingram some tea." Noah dismisses Gopher using his book to return Kid to his book. He screams out in horror as the book consumes him.
"Ooooh can I have hot chocolate?" Coyly, Ingram winks cheekily at the thought as he joins Noah towards the door.
"You'll have what you're given." Noah states scowling.
"Fiiiine sour puss…." Pouting, Ingram puffs his cheeks placing his hands behind his head as Gopher glares at the back of Ingram, grinding his teeth together fuming, fury flowing through his veins at the sight of the two men standing side by side.
"What are they doing to the witches?" Mystifed, Maka asks as the others linger in the hallway, waiting for the others to tend to the witches.
"Putting collars on them." Truthfully, Sid answers.
"Collars?" Confused, Tsubaki furrows her brow.
"In case they try anything they'll be taken care of." Sternly, Sid says.
"Taken care of?" Alarmed, Maka furrows her brow.
"Their heads will be blown off." Bluntly, Sid states.
"Sid!" Naigus snaps at him.
"It's the truth we can't trust them. Especially that frog." Firmly, Sid says.
"What about Kim?" The group perk up at the voice turning to Ox with Harvard and Kiluk with the twins.
Kilik! Ox! " Both Blackstar and Maka's eyes expand at the sight of the two.
"She won't have one." Naigus assures them.
"Oh thank goodness. My cute Kim is okay!" Ox smiles relieved while Blackstar furrows his brow baffled by the rather quiet Ava swiftly taking some paper of some sort. Blackstar lightly elbows Soul, his raw reds following Blackstar's blues for the two to see Ava wander off. The group share a look watching Sid converse with the other meisters and weapons and follow her, their eyes widening when finding them going down familiar steps.
"This is…" Maka whispers wide eyed.
"The kishin's chamber." Tsubaki furrows her brow at the familiar room.
"You know speaking out loud doesn't do anyone any favours." Frowning, Ava turs to the group making them gasp.
"Lady Ava what are you doing?" Maka asks confused.
"…Tell me do you wish to save Kid?" Ava asks the two.
"Of course." Maka nods her head.
"Look the magic they are using is unfamiliar " Ava sighs.
"But you know it?" Soul raises a brow.
"Sadly I do." Ava confirms.
"Through your travels?" Tsubaki exclaims.
"You could say that. " Ava aloofly shrugs.
"Lady Ava!" The sound of frantic footsteps rush in.
"Patty Liz?" Surprised, Ava arches a brow befuddled by the sight of them.
"You're alright!" Patty wraps her arms around Ava.
"Huh?" Astonished Ava blinks baffled as she stumbles back befuddled
"We were so worried about you." Liz wails the tears freely falling holding her making her tense up.
"You…were?" Ava furrows her brow at the teary twins.
"Of course idiot you're like a mother to us we thought…we thought…" Liz sniffles.
"Liz…" Ava's gold soften sadly.
"Don't do that ever again you hear me!" Mad, Patty snaps.
"I'm sorry I made you feel that way I'm sorry I worried you both." Softly, she hugs the two.
"Is it true? You found a way to save Kid." Hopeful, Liz asks.
"Yeah…I don't trust my son's fate in the witches hands no offence." She confesses to the ground.
"But you sure you can do it on your own? I mean this is taking three witches…" Blackstar furrows his brow.
"Yeah well…I'm a god so…" Casually, she shrugs gesturing to the circle she sets up.
"So?" Blackstar frowns when seeing her place the book down.
"Look you want to save Kid or not?" Sighing, she furrows her brow at the group.
"Of course we do Kid's our friend." Maka frowns.
"Well then if you wish to save Kid you will do everything I say one false step and we could all end up dead. Now then are you ready?" Resolute, she demands from the group.
"Yeah…we're ready." Blackstar nods his head.
"Very well then. Surround the book." She instructs the kids who comply.
W-Wait shouldn't we wait for Lord Death?" Worriedly, Maka argues.
"Or the other staff members?" Tsubaki joins in.
"We don't have time the more time we waste talking the more trouble Kid could be in. Now then…you guys ready? This is a one way trip." She warns them.
"Y-Yeah." Shyly, Maka nods her head, his eyes expanding when she removes her coat, exposing her signals sketched into her skin.
"Alright then magic calculations…begin!" She slams her hands down on the circular summoning circle, focusing murmuring muttering to herself. The kids eyes expand when feeling the faint tremors coursing through the room, small fragments of debris descend down from the ceiling as the summoning circles glow beam brightly.
"What the…WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!?" Stunned, Sid snaps his voice echoing.
"Commending dive!" Determined, she slams her hand down on the circle.
"AVA WHAT ARE YOU….!?" Death demands looking up at her but…
"…I'm sorry." Sadly, she smiles at Death, his heart dropping to see her glowing signals etched into her body, to see the tears freely fall as she smiles strained at her husband as they all dive in engulfed in snow white.
"AVAAA!" Anguished, Death cries out reaching out to her as they all are sucked into the book but it leaves nothing more than parchment paper that is swiftly enveloped in a fierce flame, leaving nothing more than ash as the fuming flames fiercely devour it. Devastated, Death falls flat to his knees horrified at the ashen remains of his only key to saving his son …feeling nothing but dread at what had happened, at the price that had been paid.
