"However, over the years of fighting their blazing pyre between both gods began to simmer. The endless cycle between them both soon started showing cracks, this endless fighting, this enlightened war it was getting to the both of them…" Index explains to the scowling Kid grimacing, wincing when feeling the sharp searing sensation in his throbbing temple cease. The three eyes of ruby red soon fade from his vision. What was that? Kid did not know, Kid shakes his head at the thought furrowing his brow trying to brush the thought aside as next thing he knew, his parents looked younger, younger than the chapter form before wearing…togas?
"So…" Kid furrows his brow by Index's explanation as he stares at his mother seeing a familiar boy by her side, a jolly Ingram beams brightly, a heavy hue of ruby red upon his cheeks. He steps forward, cheerily cheering, a bow strapped to him. He raises his gauntlet sloshing substance of purple down to the ground below before tripping on said toga where he comes crashing down groaning, cradling his head.
"They gave up." Simply, Index shrugs as he watches his mother draped over on a sofa of some sort, with servants serving her conversing as some men and women rush over to the drunkards side. His mother rolls her eyes exasperated by the drunk, greedily kissing his servants happily returning said affection as they leave, hobbling who knows where...
"Gave up?" Confused, Kid couldn't help but blink baffled by the reveal staring stunned as his mother brushes the frail fabric draped over the top of her bed, a cloak of some sort which she brushes aside slowly standing as a fair few people approach her, kneeling down, offerings casted before her. Lazily, she waves her wrist at her servants swiftly taking said offerings, nodding her head as she follows the group towards the farming fields where she closes her eyes kneeling down in the open field. Everyone's eyes stare stunned at the goddess before them where suddenly sprouting from the grass flowery foliage shoot out of the land, providing harvest for everyone, cheering cheerily, joyous as they celebrate.
"Both of them were tired, you'd be tired if you fought as long as they both did and from this both gods turned their back to humanity having no clue what their separate tales had bestowed upon mankind." Index remarks almost sassily making Kid arch a brow by the snark stemming from Index. Kid then notes far from the cheering crowd celebrating his mother. He then take note of a familiar figure draped in darkness where his father stands, lurking in the shallow shadows of the trees towering over him. Stunned, Kid's hues widen when seeing his father watching on from afar as he the kneels down plucking one of the many feeble flowers sprouted from the ground, where in his coal claw of death pinched between his sharp fingertips is an Anemone.
"Your mother became many names from her work, a deity of spring, of the moon, of madness, of the hunt. She had many jobs too many for one person. But she still did it and so the people spread her tales, her form splatted throughout the realm. A whole pantheon had been created from the tales of both your uncle and mother." Index explains as brief flickers of memories show a variety of tales, his mother had been involved with one of them involving his uncle and mother making something only then for his uncle to get mad, throwing some sort of flaming horse at her servants. She seemingly snaps then storms into a cave. It then shows him calling out to her whining like some child with a rooster? Kid quirks his head to the side at the strange sight as he then took out a mirror before sighing as he then got naked just as she peered out the cave and screamed at him, snapping sharply at him, berating him. But nevertheless, she had exited out of the cave and returned to her duties while her brother was kicked out of the temple by the servants, some of his own servants following after him.
"…You're kidding me." Miserably, Kid grumbles glaring at another scene of his mother heading into the forest, talking happily with what appears to be a nymph or witch. The two seemingly smile happily with one another only then one day during a visit she gasps when seeing the body of her friend fade away. She seethes snarling, baring her feral fang towards the male smiling softly at the lake below, combing his fingertips through his long hair. Fury flows through the woman. She grinds her teeth together, feeling nothing but her boiling, burning, bubble blood from the male's words speaking out loud of his beady before the ruthless goddess behind him.
Her hues narrow, her gold glaring at him, twitching when hearing his arrogance as next thing the boy knew she swiftly snapped her fingertips making the hunter gasp, falling flat to his knees, staring stunned at the pool below, in awe of his body oblivious to the small vines of greenery coiling around his muscular form, floral soon blooms from his degrading aching body, his body once full, plump now hollow as he stares in awe at the pool below until eventually over time nothing is left but a feeble flower of yellow.
"Nope." Index exclaims as next thing Kid knew he stares stunned when seeing his mother make his way towards her temple where her brother lays low groaning, cradling his head hungover. She sighs rolling her eyes at him, going about her duties smiling pleased by the offerings offered unaware of the looming figure of darkness behind her, before being snatched by the cruel claw of coal, screaming, screeching, shouting to the high heavens as next thing she knew all she saw was darkness and Kid simply stares stunned, slack jawed to see his father swiftly snatch the screaming, screeching Ava away, taking her to who knows where…
"My father kidnapped my mother!?" Horrified, Kid stares stunned, gawking, gaping at the sight of his mother flailing feebly, screaming shouting seemingly cursing at the drunkard that was her brother groaning handling his hangover, seemingly oblivious to the kidnapping taking place right before him. As next thing Kid knew, his mother was glaring at his father from across the other side of the dinner table, his mother glaring, glowering stabbing the food on her plate but never eating it as the surprisingly nervous lord of death tries to make conversation with the less then pleased Ava.
"Death had become greedy for you see after his years of watching life he too realized how lonely of a life he lived especially when Ava had left him, when things had calmed down. He knew he needed her back, when seeing how joyous she was among mankind he knew he had to have her so…" Index explains. Kid stares at the scene before him, his hues widening when seeing Death awkwardly try to start a conversation only to be met by curt cold snippy snarky remarks making Kid grimace at the tight tension and still silence hanging heavily between the two, he saw where he got his snarkiness from sometimes…
"Needed her back?" Befuddled, Kid furrows his brow only to gasp when watching a younger form of his mother looking tired, gravely out at the glistening gleaming streams of a city of some sort, Venice perhaps? Perplexed, Kid ponders. He watches his mother softly sip some glass of ruby red swirling it from side to side softly humming, minding her own business only then to raise a brow by the frightening figure many fleeing from the sheer sight of him daunted by his demeanour many flee from their tables but she herself simply stares up at him, unamused, almost bored by the sheer sight of Death.
"Welp there goes my meal…" Miserably, the woman huffs grumbling glaring playfully at the figure across from her huffling.
"Shame it's not like there are people fighting for your views starving themselves to have you win this war." Rudely, Lord Death reminds the girl grimacing from his words.
"As if you can talk!" Tightly, she smiles strained at him huffing.
"I'm not the one complaining about something useless." Death scoffs sneering crossing his arms over his chest.
"Maybe for those that don't eat. However, not all of us are fortunate to have that." Tensely, she snippily snaps, small cracks forming from the glass in her hand.
"How do you think she managed to live a life of sloth? You think they just ended the war like that?" Index asks Kid snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Well…" Kid trails off brow furrowing unsure.
"She spoke to him, managed to worm her way out of this war with him. Your father was known to be ruthless, he never backed down, he was picky, always thinking he was right but she was the first one, the only person in this world to talk him down. It wasn't easy but with a war of that magnitude, it took more than just one white flag to talk Death down." Index explains to Kid his hues widening when seeing the two plying a game with one another, sharing snarky remarks well she is while his flustered father grumbles scowling down at the board below them before tossing it to the side, pieces casted down below.
Kid notes his mother's furrowed frown fatigued clear upon her facial features. She sighs shakily almost like a parent to their child disappointed even as she watches furious figure storm off oblivious to the ruby red tint to his skeletal figures. The waiter shakily arrives with a familiar dish in hand, handing it over for her as she asks for another bottle needing it.
"Yep and with this kidnapping, thanks to your father's greed a curse fell upon man harvest that once grown plentiful began withering away, man began to starve all thanks to your father's greed…Index informs him. Kid couldn't help but furrow his features from Index's words when they are thrown back to the surface above as well where they see a rampaging bird boy flying high in the sky, shooting wildly arrow after arrow as the people fled fearful of the enraged Ingram, some clutching their head anguished as they roam the land going mad, clawing at each other, going against each other.
"…My mother had to go back." Kid furrows his brow sadly watching another scene play out of Death awkwardly standing by the scowling Ava's side, shyly shuffling over offering a wine glass to her, with a wine bottle in the other. She eyes the substance within before grumbling and taking said bottle by the neck, surprising Death who is left with the lone glass as she simply scowls, staring ahead at nothingness needing nothing more than the bottle when it came to dealing with the man before her.
Shaking, she shudders from the icy temperature of the area as she sits down across from Death tending to the game between them both once more only to falter, furrowing her brow, shyly shaking from the crisp chilly breeze blowing in the air. Death stands surprising Ava arching a brow as she tries to focus on the game at had only then to falter from the duvet draped over her making her raise a brow befuddled by the coat draped over her. She clings to her holding it tight looking over at Death who silently stares at the board below, the game continuing on, no words needing to be shed between them.
"Yes…" Index says as Kid sees the page change revealing a lonesome Death sat down on the staircase below where above is a younger Ava, toga draped over her form furrowing her brow, looking solemnly sadly down at the lone figure. Slowly, she makes her way down, descending down the steps joining Death's side, her brow further furrowed when noting his sole state. Slowly, she places her hand on his shoulder making him turn to her sighing shakily.
"I'll…I'll come back." Softly, she smiles at Death his hues brightening widening hopeful even at the thought as he nods his head in understanding, sadly solemnly.
He knew she had duties just as he had his own. Although their time together was brief that promise was what brought them together, what bound them together." Index reveals to Kid watching both his parents bow their head, their temples touching, meeting no words needing to be shed between both of them. She slowly stands leaving him, returning to the world above.
"It's ready to see you now." Kid blinks baffled as next thing he knew he was welcomed in a world of darkness…
