Chapter 11: Foreigners
A day had passed since Naruto spoke with Hiruzen personally. The blonde was waiting at a red bridge because Kakashi had to tell Team 7 something.
As the whiskered blonde was waiting for the rest of his team to arrive, someone walked onto the bridge. Naruto opened one eye and looked to his right to see Sakura walking up to him.
"G-Good morning, Naruto…" the pinkette sheepishly greeted. Naruto's eyes slightly widened. He didn't expect her to say that. He expected her to ignore her or send him a glare, not a good morning.
"Oh… uh… morning, Sakura," Naruto greeted back with a hand up. The pinkette stood against the railing of the bridge on the same side as the blonde.
It was silent for a moment before Sakura broke it. "What do you think Kakashi-sensei called us here for…?"
Naruto looked up at the sky as he sat on the red railing. "I dunno. Could be anything to be honest."
Sakura nodded and looked at the bridge floor. Naruto peeked at her and noticed a serious change in her, but didn't know what caused it.
But before he could ponder on it, Sasuke Uchiha walked onto the small bridge and stood a bit away from his two teammates. He scowled at Naruto, and the blonde just narrowed his eyes at him.
"How'd you like going swimming? Did you enjoy it?" Naruto asked, recalling when he knocked Sasuke off of the bridge. Naruto was surprised when Sakura didn't say anything, nor did she even send the whiskered blonde a glare, she just remained staring at the bridge, keeping to herself.
The Uchiha scowled further as he grit his teeth. "Shut up! I'm surprised you're not paralyzed. Guess I should've stabbed you further."
Naruto opened his mouth, but someone spoke before him.
"Hey guys! Sorry I'm a little late, afraid I got lost on the path of life," a familiar voice greeted from above the three genin. They all looked up to see Kakashi Hatake crouched on top of the arch.
Naruto crossed his arms and gave his sensei a skeptical look. "Uh huh, sure, you wanna tell us why you called us here? Is it another mission?"
Kakashi jumped down from the arch. "Yes, it is, now follow me so we can get started early."
The cycloptic jounin walked past his genin, leading the way.
When Kakashi arrived at a small building, he informed his genin that they were to pull out weeds for a gardener. Naruto was skeptical at first, but didn't ask questions as he did his part, and so did the others.
The next thing was pulling out trash from the river. Naruto didn't exactly know why they were doing this… but did it anyways, although, Sasuke was getting ticked off by these menial chores.
The next one after that, they were to walk the dogs out in the forest. At this point, Naruto didn't know what his team was doing.
As Kakashi was up in a tree, reading an orange book instead of a blue one, Naruto walked up to the tree with a small, orange dog on a leash that surprisingly almost looked like Kurama.
"Uh… Kakashi-sensei… what in the name of hell are we doing walking dogs…?" Naruto asked his sensei with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, I thought you guys could do something as a little break after our last mission. I didn't want you guys sitting around doing nothing for a little bit while I'm waiting to give you guys an actual mission," the Leaf jounin replied as he flipped a page.
"I understand that… but we have our own methods for doing that, ya know."
Kakashi nodded at that. "Of course, but this will also teach you teamwork. All of you doing your parts at once will get the mission done faster, right? You all know what you're supposed to do and that helps."
"I mean… I guess that makes sense… but I feel like there's a better way to do that."
"Of course there is, but we're just starting out small."
Naruto sighed. "Alright… let's go, Yoko." Kakashi looked from his book and at Naruto to see the blonde turn away with the orange dog.
After finishing all of the 'missions' Team 7 was meant to do, they were now walking down a path in the village.
"Kakashi-sensei, when are we getting an actual mission?" Sasuke wondered. "These stupid chores aren't going to make me stronger."
"Be patient, Sasuke, you'll get stronger soon," Kakashi weakly reassured, not taking his eyes off of his book. Sasuke grit his teeth before shooting daggers at Naruto.
"Don't get angry at me, I didn't do anything," Naruto told as he put his hands behind his head.
"Shut up, dobe!" Sasuke shouted. His eyes widened slightly at a realization he thought he had. "You must've been personally trained by Kakashi yourself, that's how you're stronger than me!"
Naruto slightly leaned back at the accusation. He cocked an eyebrow at the Uchiha. "I don't know where the hell you got that from, but Kakashi-sensei never personally trained me, dumbass."
"That's the only reason you're stronger than me! You used Kakashi!" Sasuke accused more.
"Sasuke, calm down, I assure you I didn't train him myself," the cycloptic jounin said as he looked at Sasuke.
The Uchiha grinded his teeth together before turning away from them. "Kakashi, you better train me yourself!"
And with that, the Uchiha stormed his way out of there. Naruto watched him leave for a minute before looking at Sakura who was watching him leave.
"You're not gonna go after him?" Naruto asked. Sakura just shook her head.
"Well… I think we should call it a day. I have to report to the Hokage about our missions, see ya," Kakashi said before flickering away.
"Well, if he's calling it a day then that's that. I'm gonna go look for some people, see you later Sakura," Naruto announced as he turned to leave.
"Oh, wait, Naruto," Sakura called out to him. The boy turned around and titled his head. "U-Um… can you… t-"
Before she could finish, a square rock crawled up behind Naruto. Sakura looked at the rock slightly confused. Naruto raised an eyebrow at her before turning around and also seeing the square rock. He was shocked for a second before realizing who it was. He'd seen the kid quite a lot during his years before the Academy, and a little bit after the Academy too. Plus, he was Hiruzen's grandchild.
The whiskered blonde sighed and facepalmed. "Konohamaru… what were you thinking disguising yourself as a square rock…?"
"Hehe! You saw through my camouflage again. You've got a good eye, Boss!" The box exploded into three large puffs of colorful smoke. Once the smoke cleared, there were three kids who were coughing from it.
The one in the middle had brown hair, green goggles on his forehead, a green scarf, a yellow t-shirt with a red Konohagakure symbol on it, grey pants, and blue sandals on. The one to his right had a lighter shade of brown hair, also had green goggles on his forehead, round glasses, a blue long sleeve shirt, beige pants, and blue sandals. The one to his left had orange hair tied up into two large pigtails, goggles like the other two, had red cheeks, was wearing a red tank top over a pink t-shirt, dark beige pants, and blue sandals.
"I think we used a little too much gunpowder you guys…" the middle one said as he coughed some more. They all jolted as they realized Naruto was watching them, and the girl shot up.
"I'm Moegi, the sassiest kunoichi in preschool, check me out!" She introduced herself as she did a cute little spin.
The boy with glasses shot up and put one arm across his chest downwards, while putting the other one over the lower half of his face. "I love algebra, call me Udon!"
"And I'm the number one ninja in the village, Konohamaru!" The last one introduced as he put a fist on his hip and flexed his arm.
"And when we're all together, we're the Konohamaru Ninja Squad!" They announced in unison.
Naruto smirked as he clapped. "Well that was certainly flashy."
Konohamaru put both of his hands on his hips with a proud grin. "I know right! It took us a while to get it right, but we did it!"
"Well, congrats, so what'd you need from me, Konohamaru?" Naruto asked as he ruffled up the kid's hair.
"We want you to play ninja with us!" Konohamaru replied.
"Ninja…?" 'Damnit… I was planning on meeting up with Hinata and Hanabi later so they could help me with my Byakugan… then check when Haku can be released… if I say no, they'll bug me later, but if I say yes… they'll still bug me later!' "Uh… I dunno Konohamaru… I am kinda busy…"
"Uh… Naruto, who are these kids?" Sakura asked as she walked up to the blonde.
"Oh! They're-"
"Wow Miss, your forehead is huge!" Konohamaru pointed out. Naruto whipped his head at the Hokage's grandchild with wide eyes. He looked back at Sakura to see her grinning while looking at the floor.
"Uh… Sakura…?"
"I have a huge forehead huh…?" The pinkette asked in a low voice as she cracked her knuckles. She looked up at the Konohamaru Ninja Squad, making them shiver at the crazed look she was giving them. "Let's see how you like it when I resize yours, you little twerp!"
Konohamaru screamed before taking off past Naruto.
"Get back here and apologize!" Sakura shouted after the kid before chasing after him.
"Shit! Come on guys, we gotta go chase after them!" Naruto told the other two kids before grabbing their wrists and chasing after Sakura and Konohamaru.
Naruto, Moegi, and Udon turned a corner to find Konohamaru being held up by a person. This guy had small, black eyes as he glared at Konohamaru. He was wearing a black, full body suit with the hood up that looked like cat ears and a red and yellow circle on the front. His hitai-ate showed a symbol different from Konoha's and he had purple face paint on in a weird pattern.
Sakura was standing a bit away from them, not knowing what to say.
"Put him down, Kankuro, or you know you'll pay for it later," the girl next to him told. She had blonde hair darker than Naruto's in four pigtails. She had teal eyes and her hitai-ate was on her neck. She was wearing a light purple garment that stopped halfway at her thighs with a scarlet sash around her waist. On her right leg, there was fishnet that stopped just below her knee, and on her left thigh, there was a bit of fishnet that protruded from her garment.
"Don't worry, Temari, he won't be here for a bit," the boy named Kankuro reassured with a smirk.
"Konohamaru!" Naruto shouted as he ran up a bit in front of Sakura. "Hey, let him down, now!"
Kankuro moved Konohamaru a bit out of the way and saw Naruto. He looked him up and down and stopped at the blonde's hitai-ate.
'So these are Konoha's genin? What a joke,' Kankuro asked as he grinned.
Temari looked at Naruto and raised an eyebrow as a small smile came to her face. 'The blonde doesn't look that bad… he might be my type…'
"And why should I? This little bastard ran into me," Kankuro informed as his grip got tighter on Konohamaru's scarf.
Naruto's eyes widened as he scowled. He grit his teeth as his eyes turned red with slits. He released some killing intent, making both Kankuro and the girl freeze up.
"I wasn't fucking asking," Naruto stated. Kankuro looked past the whiskered blonde and could barely see a giant, red fox hiding in the darkness behind him, looking like it would murder him in a second.
'W-What the hell is this killing intent…?!' Kankuro asked as he tried to move, but couldn't as his eyes widened in fear.
The others could feel Naruto's anger and looked at his back, slightly scared.
The sandy blonde was surprised by this as she too, saw the fox in the background. 'T-This kid is a lot stronger than he looks!'
"K-Kankuro! Drop the kid!" She demanded. Kankuro instantly let Konohamaru go and the boy scrambled over to Naruto.
The whiskered blonde's eyes went back to normal, and the darkness disappeared as well as the fox. Kankuro and the girl began taking in deep breaths. The foreigner looked at Naruto comforting Konohamaru and grit his teeth.
'Damn him…!' Kankuro cursed.
Temari looked up at Naruto and smirked. 'Wow… I need to know his name.'
"Hey… blondie," Temari spoke up, making Kankuro whip his head at her in shock.
Naruto looked up from Konohamaru and raised an eyebrow at the fellow blonde. "What do you want?"
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Naruto. Naruto Uzumaki… what about you?" Naruto responded.
"Temari Kazekage, but you can just call me Temari," she returned.
'Kazekage? Wait a minute…' "Wait, you're from Sunagakure, aren't you?"
Temari's eyes slightly widened. "Yes, we are. Aren't you smart?"
"Thanks, but how do you have the last name of Kazekage if it's a position?" Naruto wondered.
"The Kazekage position in our village is hereditary, so we just took the position name and made it our last name, since it's bound to us anyway," she explained with a shrug.
"That's pretty interesting," Naruto commented as he put a hand to his chin.
"I'm surprised a Konoha genin like you knew where we were from," Temari admitted as she crossed her arms.
Naruto smirked. "I've done my research."
"Really now?"
"What, you want a personal example as proof?" Naruto asked as he cocked an eyebrow and crossed his arms too.
Temari was slightly surprised at the comeback, not expecting it, and lightly blushing. Kankuro looked at the interaction in disgust. He didn't want to hear his sister flirting with stupid genin.
Sakura deadpanned at Naruto while the kids also looked on in disgust, besides Moegi who was slightly blushing. "Naruto, there are kids here, remember…?"
Naruto's eyes widened and he looked at the Konohamaru Ninja Squad. "Oh… uh… sorry guys, forgot you were here for a sec…"
Konohamaru's disgusted look turned into a smirk as he glanced between Sakura and Temari. "Boss, I'd normally be disgusted, but seeing how you have two girls, I'll let it slide."
Naruto looked at Konohamaru. "You dirty-"
"Oh, well look who it is, the dobe and other dumbasses," a familiar voice interrupted. Everyone looked above them to see a raven haired boy sitting on a branch with a cocky smirk on his face. Naruto slowly turned around and saw none other than Sasuke Uchiha.
'Oh great, another one…' Kankuro thought as he glared at Sasuke.
Temari raised an eyebrow at him. 'Who's this guy?'
"Oh great, we got Whiny Uchiha here… just what I needed," Naruto said as he deadpanned. Sasuke scoffed as he closed his eyes. He threw a rock at Naruto which the blonde caught before crushing it in his hand. "What do you want, Sasuke?"
"I just heard commotion over here and wanted to see what it was. When I saw you here, I realized I stumbled upon a group of weaklings, besides the blonde girl," Sasuke answered as he opened his eyes and looked at Temari.
The Suna girl leaned back with a slightly disgusted look on her face. 'What a turn off… no thanks.'
'Weaklings?! Who the hell does this kid think he is?!' Kankuro questioned as he grit his teeth.
Naruto sighed as he crossed his arms. "You haven't even fought this dude yet and you're calling him weak… when will you learn that's not a good idea…?" Naruto put his hand on his forehead as he rubbed his face.
"Quiet, dobe! I could beat you and him any day of the week!" Sasuke declared as he glared at Naruto.
"By all means, try your best, the same exact result will happen just in a different way," Naruto fired as he rolled his eyes and looked towards Temari's direction.
She was surprised and relieved to see that Naruto wasn't hot-blooded and got riled up easily… or maybe it was just because of this particular kid he wasn't getting that way.
Sasuke was about to respond, but someone else spoke first.
"Kankuro… Temari…" a raspy voice spoke above Sasuke. His eyes widened and so did everyone else's as they looked to see where it came from.
Above Sasuke's branch, there was a kid with red, spiky hair, a tattooed kanji on the left side of his forehead that read 'love', no eyebrows, and green eyes with black rings around them. He was wearing a black body suit with rolled up sleeves to reveal mesh under them, almost full-length leggings, a white cloth over his right shoulder and the left side of his hip, a leather band from his left shoulder to his right hip that ha a gourd attached to it and his hitai-ate was wrapped around it. He was hanging upside down with his arms crossed.
"H-Hello Gaara…" Kankuro nervously greeted. Naruto picked up on this and looked intensely at Gaara.
"He reeks of Shukaku…" Kurama spoke.
'That's the Ichibi, right?' Naruto checked.
"Yes, and it seems like that kid hasn't slept in a long time…" Kurama confirmed.
'What's stopping him from sleeping?'
"Shukaku terrorizes his Jinchuuriki by threatening them to not sleep too long or else he will take over their bodies and kill all humans."
'How could that be possible?'
"... It's not… he's just trying to make his Jinchuuriki's life hell."
'I see…'
The redhead Suna genin surveyed the ninja below him before landing his eyes on Kankuro. "Kankuro… are you causing problems again?"
The boy in black flinched as he put his hands up. "Uh-uh… n-no, Gaara, everything's fine here!"
"Y-" Konohamaru was going to call him out, but Naruto put his hand over the kid's mouth to stop him.
"He's right!" Naruto defended the Suna boy. Gaara looked over at Naruto. "We happened to run into these two and introduce ourselves. I was going to ask if they wanted a tour of our village, ya know?"
Gaara stared at the whiskered blonde for a little bit. 'This guy made Kankuro and Temari freeze on the spot with killing intent… he seems a lot stronger than he looks…' the redhead thought. Just then, a stream of sand showered over Gaara and he appeared in front of Kankuro and Temari.
"We don't need a tour of your village, but thanks anyway." Gaara turned around and walked past his two siblings. "Let's go."
"Wait a minute," Naruto called out, making the trio stop. They all turned around. "What's your guys' names, besides Temari?"
"I'm Kankuro."
"And I'm Gaara of the Sand, what's your name?" The redhead Suna genin returned.
"Naruto Uzumaki, but, what are you guys here for? I know you didn't come here just to look around."
"Hey, wait a minute, you didn't even ask for my name!" Sasuke cried out.
"We're here for the Chuunin Exams," Gaara responded, ignoring Sasuke.
Naruto tilted his head. "Huh, no one told us about them, but I guess they're happening soon considering Suna genin are here."
Gaara nodded before turning around. "We will see each other when it begins, I'm sure of it."
"Bye Naruto!" Temari said as she waved. The three of them jumped away.
"Naruto-" Sakura spoke, but Naruto put his hand up.
"How long are you gonna spy on us?" Naruto asked as he looked up. The rest of them also looked up to find three genin on a branch pretty high up.
The one in the middle had bandages covering most of his face except for his left eye and eyebrow. He wore a large poncho with long sleeves, a grey, snake patterned scarf around his neck, and a straw raincoat protruding from the back of his scarf. The one to his left had spiky black hair and dark eyes. He was wearing a beige shirt with two black stripes and the kanji for death in red three times on it. He had on grey, snake patterned pants and his forehead protector was attached to a happuri that was under his cloth. The one to the right had long black hair that reached to the back of her ankles, a green vest on, grey, snake patterned pants and a skirt with a scarf that had the same design around her neck.
The one in the middle's eyes widened slightly. "So you detected us, huh? Not bad, Konoha genin."
"I've never seen that symbol before, where are you coming from?" Naruto asked as he crossed his arms.
"Otogakure, it's a newly created village," the kunoichi answered.
"Well isn't that something. How long were you gonna be sitting there for? It doesn't hurt to introduce yourselves, ya know," Naruto said as he tilted his head.
"Why should we introduce ourselves to you weaklings? You should be introducing yourselves to us," the Otogakure genin on the left said as he smirked.
Naruto deadpanned. "Great, another arrogant jackass…"
"What was that, you little shit?!" He grilled and grit his teeth.
"Pipe it down, Zaku. Like the blonde said, it wouldn't hurt to introduce ourselves," the opposed leader of the three told his teammate. "I'm Dosu Kinuta."
"Kin Tsuchi, hello," the kunoichi introduced.
"Zaku Abumi," the last one said as he looked away.
"I'm-"
"I'm Sasuke Uchiha, and the only weaklings here are you and the two idiots behind me," Sasuke interrupted as he threw a thumb behind him at Naruto and Sakura, which made Zaku frown.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki…" the whiskered blonde introduced.
"Um… Sakura Haruno," the pinkette introduced a bit shyly.
"We're Team 7 of Konohagakure, and we'll be participating in the Chuunin Exams, so you'll definitely see us again," Naruto declared as he smirked.
"Heh, I hope so, you seem interesting blondie," Kin said as she crossed her arms, which made Sasuke slightly grit his teeth.
"The same could be said about you too," Naruto returned.
Before Kin could speak, Dosu was first. "Alright enough of this. We're not here to flirt, so let's get going before I throw up."
Kin slightly glared at Dosu before she dropped it. "Fine… see you around." The three of them jumped off of the branch.
Sasuke turned around and put his hands in his pockets, walking away. "You two better not drag the team down during the Chuunin Exams, or you'll regret it."
Naruto narrowed his eyes at the Uchiha, but then an orange pug appeared in front of the three genin. The pug had a blue vest and a hitai-ate wrapped on top of his head like Sakura's. He also had bandages wrapped around his right front leg.
"Oh, aren't you one of Kakashi's ninken? What are you doing here?" Naruto recognized as he walked up to the dog.
"I'm surprised you remember me, but I'm here to deliver a message from Kakashi. Meet him at the bridge in thirty minutes. He has something important to tell you," the dog relayed.
"So meet him in a couple of hours, got it. Tell him we understand," Naruto said as he nodded. The dog nodded back and disappeared in a puff of smoke. Naruto turned around and looked at the Konohamaru Ninja Squad. "Sorry you three, but you heard the pug. We can play ninja another time when I'm not busy."
"You better keep your word, Boss, or else we'll come look for you ourselves!" Konohamaru threatened with a scowl. The other two shouted in agreement, making Naruto chuckle.
"I will, I will, promise. Now go train or somethin', you little rascals," Naruto promised as he shooed the three away. Konohamaru and his two friends all turned around and ran somewhere.
Sasuke scoffed, grabbing Naruto's attention. "Playing ninja with kids… seriously?"
"There's nothing wrong with playing with kids, Sasuke. It's fun making them happy. You should try it instead of being the brood that you are," Naruto told the Uchiha.
"Tch, yeah right, you're just wasting your time, but it's whatever. If you want to be weak, continue being weak. Guess I'll have to carry this team through the chuunin exams," Sasuke said as he shrugged and walked away.
"Man that guy is so insufferable," Naruto muttered to himself. He then looked at Sakura. "You've got a couple hours to do whatever before we have to meet at the bridge."
Sakura nodded before Naruro jumped off in a random direction.
A couple hours passed and both Naruto and Sakura arrived at the bridge at the same time. Sasuke was already there and it seemed like he was waiting there for a while.
It only took a minute, and Kakashi appeared in front of them.
"Hey there, my cute little genin!" Kakashi greeted as he put his hand up.
"Hello, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto greeted back. "Why'd you want to meet us all of a sudden?"
"Well, I recommended you guys for the Chuunin Exams," the jounin responded as he pulled out three papers. "These are the application forums." The three genin each took one.
"This is all voluntary and it's up to each of you to partake in these. If you don't want to, you can wait until next year to take them," Kakashi added.
"Oh sweet! So this is how we get in!" Naruto cheered as he pumped a fist.
"If you're going to participate, come to Room 301 at the Academy at 3:00PM a month from now. That's it," Kakashi informed before remembering something. "Oh right, Sasuke, come with me."
Sasuke looked at his sensei before walking over to him. Kakashi placed a hand on his shoulder, and the two of them disappeared in a twirl of leaves.
Naruto turned around and began walking away, but Sakura remained where she stayed. "U-Um… N-Naruto…"
The whiskered blonde stopped walking and turned to look at the pinkette. "What's up?"
"Well… um… for the next month… can you help me train for the Chuunin Exam…? I… I realized how weak I am compared to you two and I don't want to drag the team down like I've been doing…" Sakura admitted as she rubbed her arm and looked at the ground.
Naruto thought about it as he looked up. 'Damn… I'd like to help Sakura… but I also want to see Hinata and Hanabi… and Haku too… Ugh, what should I do…?'
"Use your head, Kit. You can make Shadow Clones, remember? Send one to Hinata and Hanabi, and send one to the T&I building," Kurama replied.
Naruto's eyes widened as a smile grew on his face. 'You're right! How could I be so stupid?! Thanks a lot Kurama!'
The Bijuu smirked while Naruto made the clone seal. 'Shadow Clone Technique!'
Two puffs of smoke appeared next to Naruto and it soon revealed clones of himself. They all looked at each other before nodding and the two clones jumped away. Sakura looked at this, slightly confused.
"Why'd you make Shadow Clones?" She wondered.
"Don't worry about it, now come on, let's go!" Naruto grabbed her hand without warning and disappeared in a yellow flash with her.
The two of them appeared in Team 7's training ground. Sakura was slightly dizzy from the sudden transportation, but shook her head. Naruto let go of her hand and walked a little away from her before turning around.
"Alright, let's first start off with what kind of chakra affinity you have," Naruto told as he put his hands on his hips.
"Oh… I don't really know what my chakra affinity is…" Sakura admitted shyly.
Naruto smirked. "That's no big deal, we'll test some techniques out to see which ones you can do and can't do."
"Oh, alright."
"We'll first start with Fire Release: Great Fire Technique," Naruto said.
"Wait, isn't that an Uchiha technique? Why are you teaching me that?" Sakura asked as she tilted her head.
"Yes, it is an Uchiha technique, but it's pretty easy to do, so that's why we'll be starting with this one," Naruto answered. "Now, to do this, you need to make the Snake → Ram → Monkey → Boar → Horse → Tiger hand seals and knead the chakra in your body to fire and expel it from your mouth."
"Okay." Sakura made the required hand seals and tried kneading her chakra into fire, but was having trouble doing so. "Um… I… can't do the fire part…"
"Are you struggling to do it?" Naruto guessed. Sakura nodded and Naruto put a hand to his chin. "Hm… guess it's not for you then. Alright, drop the fire technique for now, we'll move on to water. This one's called: Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field. To do this, you need to make the Ram → Tiger hand seals and turn some of your chakra into water."
Sakura nodded as she made the Ram → Tiger hand seals and instead converted her chakra to water easily. "Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field!" Sakura spewed out water and it hit the ground, turning into syrup. The pinkette continued spewing water until a large area was covered, making Naruto jump back. Sakura finished producing starch syrup.
Naruto was surprised to see the large area of starch. "Wow, nice job Sakura! It looks like you have an affinity for water!"
Sakura looked at the starch and smiled brightly. "Well, it's thanks to you that I found out my affinity…"
Naruto chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head. "Ah it's no big deal, but let's move on to some more powerful moves!"
It had been a little while after Naruto and Sakura trained together. Sakura learned quite a bit from Naruto and gained some experience, plus she had some techniques to help her too, and the best part was that he'd help her for the next month to prepare for the Chuunin Exams! Now she finally won't feel like a burden to her team.
Naruto was resting by a tree, in his mindscape with Kurama. The whiskered blonde sat in front of his Bijuu.
"Are you ready for the Chuunin Exams, Kit?" Kurama asked.
Naruto smirked. "Of course I'm ready! I can't wait for them to come around next month, believe it!"
Kurama smirked as well. "It'll be a breeze for you. You're the strongest genin around, no matter what anyone else says."
"Thanks Kurama, but ya never know, someone might be stronger than me, like Gaara and his Bijuu," Naruto mentioned.
"Psh, don't be so modest, Shukaku doesn't get along with anyone. It's rare for him to cooperate with his Bijuu, and Gaara is a prime example of that. Gaara and Shukaku are going against each other, unlike you and me," Kurama pointed out as he crossed his arms.
"Hm… so, what's up with your transformations?" Naruto changed the subject as he looked at Kurama's blue tail.
The Bijuu sighed. "It's something Kirai allowed me to do. I'm able to use the other Bijuu's powers and while I'm getting a grasp on them, my tails transform to look like theirs, but once I've gained mastery over them, it'll revert back to normal."
Naruto nodded. "I see, I see. Well that's pretty cool!"
Kurama smirked. "Yes, it is."
Just then, something rose from the water. Both Naruto and Kurama watched as Kirai surfaced. The entity had one arm behind her back while her other hand was grabbing her chin. She had her eyes close and a smirk on her face as she looked at the water.
"Is this another one of your… 'poses?'" Naruto asked with a raised eyebrow. Kirai didn't say anything, and the Bijuu and Jinchuuriki looked at each other, then back at Kirai before clapping their hands.
"Thank you, thank you!" Kirai thanked as she bowed before looking up at the two. "How's my favorite Jinchuuriki and Bijuu doing?"
"You're only Jinchuuriki and Bijuu," Naruto muttered as he deadpanned at her.
"We're doing fine, Kirai," Kurama responded.
"Great! I heard you were partaking in the Chuunin Exams, Naruto. You prepared?" Kirai asked, looking at the blonde.
"Psh, of course I am! I'm gonna get by this in a breeze!" Naruto responded as he crossed his arms and smirked.
"That's great to hear."
"So, what're you here for? To hangout with us?" Kurama asked.
"Nah, I'm too busy for that. I'm here to teach you guys something new," Kirai responded.
Naruto slightly tilted his head. "What are you gonna teach us?"
"It's a new form I came up for you two. It's called Kyuubi Emergency Mode. It's when you both run out of chakra by whatever means and you use Kurama's chakra," Kirai explained.
"How am I supposed to use Kurama's chakra if he won't have any?" Naruto questioned.
"I'm glad you asked." Kirai snapped her fingers and the bandages around Naruto's right arm ripped off, showing his pitch-black arm. "Kurama stores almost all of his chakra in your right arm and when your chakra is out or is blocked, his chakra floods your chakra network and you're able to use the moves he's able to use as long as it doesn't require chakra to use."
"But what if I wanted to use techniques or attacks that require chakra?"
"Then the timer for the mode runs out significantly faster than when you wouldn't."
"Okay, but how do I store chakra into his arm?" Kurama wondered.
"Easy, come here." Kirai walked up to Kurama before grabbing his hand and putting it over Naruto's right arm. Kurama could suddenly feel his chakra being drained. Kirai kept the fox's hand over Naruto's arm for a little longer before moving it. The whiskered blonde could feel Kurama's chakra moving around in his arm.
"Remember: only use it for when you've run out of chakra or have your chakra points blocked," Kirai reminded.
"Right, but what happens when it's activated?" Naruto asked.
Kirai smiled before taking a step back and clasping her hands together. Suddenly, her appearance changed.
Her head looked like Kurama's head, but she had glowing, fully white eyes and a zigzag mouth. Her body was furry and had Naruto's seal on her stomach. Her hands and feet were now claws and nine tails sprouted from her back.
"This is exactly what you'd look like if you were to use this mode," Kirai spoke, her mouth unmoving. Both Naruto and Kurama were surprised at seeing this. Kirai instantly transformed back. "Alright, now it's time for the training part!"
Naruto stood up. "What's the first step?"
"The first step is you not having any chakra," Kirai answered as she grabbed the sides of Naruto's face and brought him close.
"W-What are you doing?!" Naruto questioned nervously. Kirai giggled before bringing his face closer to hers.
"Don't worry… Execution by Kiss." Kirai kissed Naruto and the boy's eyes widened as he blushed. He looked at Kurama who's eyes were also wide in shock. Naruto widened his eyes even more, signaling for his Bijuu to help him. Kurama just shook his head and leaned back. Kirai activated the technique and Naruto's chakra network in his face started visibly showing. Naruto looked at his Bijuu worryingly, but the fox couldn't do anything, nor did he want to. Kirai would kill him if he intervened.
Kirai slightly opened her eyes and saw the worried look on Naruto's face. She forced his mouth open and began swirling her tongue with his. The whiskered blonde was confused and worried about what Kirai was doing, but he slowly tried matching her speed. She smirked before being more aggressive with the kiss.
'I-is she trying to take his chakra or trying to seduce him…?' Kurama asked himself. He felt awkward watching Kirai do… whatever it was she was doing.
The entity backed up from Naruto to catch her breath. There was a thick line of chakra connecting the two's tongues.
"A-Are you done…?" Naruto asked.
"I dunno, you still got chakra left?" Kirai asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Y-Yes…"
"Then we're not done here. Just think of it like kissing a girl, okay?" Naruto nodded, then the two resumed kissing.
It took awhile, and more breaks than Kirai expected, but she eventually sucked out most of Naruto's chakra. The whiskered blonde was sitting on the water, catching his breath.
"Now, step two is Kurama's turn," Kirai said as she looked at the Bijuu.
"You're not kissing me," the fox stated as he leaned back.
"Calm down, I wasn't planning on it anyways," Kirai waved off before pointing her hand at Kurama. "Hate Release: Drain."
A black substance shot out from Kirai's palm and stuck to Kurama's chest. It wrapped around his chest and began absorbing his chakra.
After she was done, the fox Bijuu sat down, trying to catch his breath as well.
"Alright Naruto, step two is to focus and concentrate on your right arm. You will begin to feel a weird energy, but try to ignore it as best as you can and focus on Kurama's chakra," the entity instructed. Naruto nodded as he calmed his breathing down and focused on his right arm.
It took a moment, but he began feeling an overbearingly strong energy. It felt like he could feel everything around him in the outside world and in his mindscape, but before he could dwell on it, he sensed Kurama's chakra. The whiskered blonde pulled on the Bijuu's chakra and it flooded throughout his chakra network.
Naruto opened his eyes and he transformed. He looked just like how Kirai did when she did it, except his coat and shirt were gone, save for his pants. Kirai and Kurama looked at Naruto with wide eyes.
"Sweet, you did it! How do you feel?" Kirai asked.
"I don't feel any different…" Naruto spoke, his mouth unmoving.
"Awesome! Now you have a serious ace up your sleeve in case you ever need it!" Kirai spoke in excitement.
"I guess I do. Thanks, Kirai," Naruto thanked as he nodded.
"Ah, it's no biggie, just doin' it for my favorite blonde is all," Kirai said as she waved it off.
"Also, that kiss… were you enjoying it?" Naruto asked.
Kirai's eyes slightly widened as a blush appeared on her face. "Huh? Whaddya mean? Enjoy it? What?!"
"... I… heard you slightly moaning when you were kissing me…" Naruto pointed out. Kirai, Kurama, and the blonde stood in silence. Naruto and Kurama looked at Kirai while the entity just stared at Naruto with wide eyes.
"You must've been hearing things! Why would you even say something like that?!" Kirai questioned.
Naruto leaned back and put his hands up. "Woah, woah, woah! I was just wondering, that's all! No need to get mad now!"
"Oh, so say you're kissing someone and you hear the slightest of noises that could come from anywhere, you're gonna assume it's the person you're kissing moaning?!" She grilled.
"Wait a damn minute since when did I say that?!" Naruto questioned. "What are you getting so mad for?!"
"You can't just assume things like that!"
"You just assumed I implied something when I didn't!"
"I know what I heard, brat!"
"You need your ears checked then!"
Kurama watched as the two bickered. He sighed before shaking his head. 'Why me…'
