Harry was looking up hopefully at the two old men. Arcturus shared a look with Pollux. They were shocked he was alive and could see he was in some kind of coma. They had no idea what happened or how he was still alive. Neither had known him personally but they had known him in politics. And the death of a Lord was of course news in their world. It had been during the war so there was no funeral they knew of but the man was believed dead. His wife had died months before him and the only family had been his son. But there was no reason to hide that his father was alive. They needed to find answers.
Arcturus knew one person they could summon but they needed to see to Harry. The boy could not be seen there with them. He called for Kreacher knowing he could use the elf for two things.
Kreacher appeared. "Masters and Master Harry."
Arcturus grunted. "I need you to take him home."
Harry turned to look at him. "No."
"I am not having this fight with you again. You will go home." Arcturus said in a voice that usually brokered no argument.
Harry though wasn't backing down. "You promise help wake Grandpa."
Pollux snarled. "Why argue? Send him and be done."
Arcturus motioned to Kreacher to take him. "I will but you need to go home."
Harry let himself be picked up. "You help?"
"Yes." was all he said to the boy. He turned to Kreacher. "You will fetch Snape for me when you are done."
Kreacher took Harry and left. Both men stood waiting, knowing it may take some time. Arcturus had some contact with the Prince boy and he trusted him in this. He was aware that the boy's uncle was about to die and Severus stood to inherit the money. Severus usually hated anything to do with old bloods but he had done some work for Arcturus before. Like Lucius he had been a spy in the war and they had used him when they needed certain things. Even Pollux knew he could be trusted in this.
Severus arrived some time later and if he was shocked to be there he showed nothing of it. To their confusion he didn't even seem surprised to see Fleamont in the bed and alive. They were reminded he was close to the man's daughter in law.
Severus looked down at the man. "He is alive, good."
Arcturus turned to him. "You knew?"
Severus moved closer to the head of the bed. "I am the one who put him in the coma."
Pollux was reminded he was a medic. "And yet you're only happy he is alive?"
Severus grunted. "When Lily died I could no longer access the castle wards. Your elf brought me through."
"Why would they not give you access if he needed care?" Arcturus was confused.
"James didn't wish me unlimited access. I had it when Lily was alive. Unfortunately they didn't see both dying."
Arcturus motioned. "Why? And can you wake him?"
Severus took out a bottle. "He was poisoned. I needed time to develop an antidote for him. The stasis kept him alive till I could."
Severus admitted as he sat down it took him much longer then hoped. The poison was one he hadn't known. He had only finished it a month before Lily was killed. He had not had a chance to come and feared he wouldn't. He thought that he may have to wait till their son was old enough as Harry was the only one who could change the wards. The stasis should have held.
If Severus questioned how they had got in here he said nothing. He administered the potion to the man. From the looks he cast their way he was suspicious about this. They knew he loved Lily but couldn't reveal Harry now.
Severus stood. "It will likely take a few days but he should wake by New Years when done."
Arcturus nodded. "I will expect you to check."
"As I told you I can not come through the wards. I am surprised you could." Severus finally said it.
Pollux barked. "The elf will bring you. That is all you need to know."
Severus went to leave. "I assume that will do. For now."
The men watched as he left and again turned to the man in the bed. They had to wonder about the poison and why all the secrecy. They told themselves they only cared due to the boy. If Fleamont woke up they could hopefully end the boy's obsession with them. He clearly knew Fleamont was his grandfather and he could annoy the man when he woke. He had an obligation to the boy unlike the two of them.
Arcturus turned to Pollux. "We should return to the manor before we are missed."
Christmas had gone by with no further interruption. Arcturus tried to put the events from his mind. He hadn't seen the boy and hopefully once the potion was done he would never again. Severus was to send word when Fleamont was awake. He assumed the man should not wake alone and not know what was going on. He doubted Severus was the man to tell Fleamont that his son was daad. He was aware the bad blood between James and Severus. He knew it had something to do with the muggle born girl that James had been married to.
Two days before New Years he received word that Fleamont should be waking. He had been at Grimmauld for he last two days. He went to retrieve his cloak from he library before he had Kreacher take him. He stopped dead in his tracks.
He looked at the little boy. He was again asleep, in a chair next to Orion's painting. "What?"
He was shocked when he got an answer and not from the boy. "Let him sleep."
Arcturus looked at his son. "How are you awake? And why do you care?"
Orion had never been woken as far as he knew. "The child woke me."
Arcturus growled. "Only family can wake you. How do you know this boy? You died before he was born."
Orion's eyes went to the boy. "Let him rest father. He is in bad shape."
"What do you mean? You will answer me? And how does he have my cat?"
Orion simply said before he went back to sleep. "Let him sleep."
Arcturus was furious as his son went back to sleep The painting was technically still awake, it hadn't been shut off like a painting could but Orion was acting asleep. Wallburga had the painting done but she had not brought herself to wake him all this time and he had chosen to honor her wishes. When a painting was in full sleep mode, only family could wake them up. How this boy had woken Orion was beyond him. But he was reminded that Kreacher had said his orders came from Orion.
He looked at the boy who was asleep sitting up but he was clutching Zar. It wasn't the purring this time that confused him. It was the fact his cat was at the manor last he looked. The cat never came to Grimmauld with him.
Kreacher came with lunch. "Oh master still asleep."
Arcturus looked at him. "Why would you make him lunch? I have made it clear the boy is not welcome."
Kreacher simply put down the tray. "Master tell me."
As the elf left he noticed the little boy wake. "Fleamont can't wake up soon enough."
Harry looked at him. "Grandpa."
Arcturus hissed. "What have I told you about calling me that?"
Harry looked at the painting. "Grandpa O take nap? He tell story."
Arcturus was bewildered. "Your real grandfather will soon be. You are going home."
Harry shook. "Uncle mad. Uncle mad. He mad."
Arcturus ground his teeth. "I am sure he doesn't like you disappearing."
Harry had tears. "He hurt Paddi."
Arcturus didn't understand. "Paddi?"
Harry showed the little dog he had last time. "He hurt Paddi."
Arcturus stared in confusion when he saw the dog was in pieces. The little boy had a foot and head in one hand and the rest in the other. It was when he took the dog from the boy he noticed the arm of the boy. Harry may have only mentioned the dog but there were bruises all over the boy and the arm he could have sworn was broken. The uncle did this to the child? He didn't like muggles to begin with but this was more then he thought. He found himself kneeling next to the boy.
Harry pulled back a little when he tried to see the arm. "Ouch."
Arcturus was pale as he saw he was right. "Your Uncle did this?"
Harry clutched Zar. "I look at tree. He mad."
"You looked at the Christmas tree? You broke something?"
"I no touch, I no bad. I look at pretty light."
Arcturus called Kreacher. "We need Severus here."
Kreacher reminded him. "Master meant to meet him."
Harry was trembling. "No send back. He hurt Paddi."
Arcturus bent and picked up the boy. "You are coming. And Kreacher will fix the dog."
Kreacher took it. "I promise."
Harry reluctantly handed over the dog and buried his head against Arcturus. Kreacher took them both to Potter castle. Severus was waiting for them and if he was shocked about Harry he said nothing. He hoped for the boy's mother's sake Severus could be trusted. It was clear the boy could not go back until they found out what was happening. Severus came to their side and he saw to Harry's arm with some help from an elf who brought potions. The little boy was silent the entire time.
Severus finished. "Now you should be fine in a few days."
Harry eyed him. "Thanks."
Arcturus noticed he wasn't as open with Severus as usual. "The boy has been…."
Severus simply motioned to the bed. "Fleamont should be waking."
As Arcturus turned. "If Albus…."
Severus knew without him finishing. "I have seen nothing."
Their attention went to the bed where even with his bad arm Harry had managed to clamber up. He sat looking at the man and seemed very pleased he was waking up. As Fleamont's eyes opened they were not sure the boy should be on the bed. This may be a shock enough for Fleamont without the baby grandson he didn't know about. But the man's eyes fell on the boy.
Flemont looked at the child and at Severus ignoring Arcturus. "Is he the boy?"
Before Severus could answer Harry chimed. "Hi grandpa."
AN: So all three Grandpas are awake. Little Harry is hurt and Arcturus knows. What will the grandpas do? And will Severus keep his word not to tell Albus?
