They all watched the man as his eyes were on the baby. Arcturus was shocked when he asked Severus about if it was the boy. Fleamont was believed dead before Lily was even pregnant with her son. Arcturus assumed Harry had been brought to see his grandfather or had seen photos of the man when his parents were alive. But now Arcturus had to wonder how long had Fleamont been in the coma. Had they faked his death months before? Arcturus was getting a headache and still had no idea why he was drawn into this mess. He looked at the boy and knew how but not why. Hopefully he would get some answers now.

Fleamont saw the other man but his eyes were on the baby. He knew without Severus answering that it was indeed the boy. He looked too much like James and himself not to be. But he was shocked at his age. How long had he been out?

Severus confirmed it though not needed. "Yes."

Harry didn't want to be ignored. "Grandpa."

Fleamont eyed the boy. "You know who I am?"

Harry smiled."I come see but grandpa snore."

Arcturus grumbled. "He has been pestering me to wake you."

Severus actually corrected him. "Lily and James brought Harry at least once. He has been here."

Harry nodded. "Daddy promise you wake. Play now?"

Fleamont ignored the child. "How long have I been out?"

Severus told him the date. "Unfortunately I lost access to the castle."

Fleamont understood what he meant. "When? And both?"

"Halloween 2 months ago. The boy was the only one to survive." Was all Severus said.

The only reaction Fleamont showed was his hand going to the pendant around his neck. His son and daughter in law were dead? With the death of Euphemia they were the only family he had left. His brother Charlus had died months before Euphemia, his wife and son before that. Unlike the Blacks, the Potters had not been ones for having multiple children. His parents had been the first in a dozen generations to have more then one child. Both he and Charlus married later in life and had only had one child each due to it. Dorea' s son had died not much older then this grandson was now. The toddler had fallen victim to a bad strain of dragon pox at two.

Arcturus watched the byplay and had no idea what to make of it. He hoped the man would be recovering quickly. Clearly the boy could not be sent back to muggles and something needed to be done with him.

Arcturus went to leave. "It seems this reunion is crowded. I will take my leave."

Harry turned to him. "Grandpa go?"

Arcturus snarled. "This is your grandfather."

Fleamont called to him to stop. "You brought the child."

"He has been pestering me to wake you. And calling me grandfather out of confusion for you." Arcturus snarled.

Fleamont eyed the boy. "I am clearly in no condition for the boy."

Arcturus smirked. "He seems to be being abused by the muggles. You wish to send your heir back?"

Severus agreed with him. "The boy has been badly hurt. If Albus learns he is gone he will force the child back there."

Fleamont agreed. "I said nothing of sending him back."

Arcturus didn't understand. "I am sure you have nanny elves or I can lend you one."

"I see no reason he should leave where he is. He seems content with you." Fleamont countered.

Harry was beaming. "And Grandpa O. And kitty. I like kitty."

Arcturus spat. "I have no obligation to this child, you do."

Flemont sighed. "I guess the child will go back."

Harry looked at him in sheer horror. "No. No. Grandpa he hurt paddi."

"You will just have to learn to behave until I am better." Fleamont grunted.

Severus was shocked. "Fleamont…."

Arcturus found himself saying. "And people call me ruthless. You'd send your only heir back to being abused?"

Fleamont glared. "I am in no shape to fight. It should only be months."

Harry was sobbing. "No. No go back. No go back."

Arcturus snarled. "Stop sniveling, no one will send you back."

Severus reminded him. "I can not."

Arcturus took the boy up. "He can remain. Until you are better Potter."

Fleamont watched him. "Should I worry what condition he will be in?"

"Didn't seem like you were worried when you were going to send him back to muggles." Arcturus reminded him.

Arcturus said nothing more as he took the child to leave. He had no idea how he was being shouldered with his child again. But he was not, it seemed willing to let the boy be sent to abusive relatives. He was shocked Potter would even consider it. He always thought the Potters were too soft hearted to be old bloods. He couldn't even fathom what the man had been thinking. He would leave the boy to Kreacher and the elves. Hopefully when Fleamont had time to recover physically he'd recover his senses.

Severus turned to Fleamont when they were alone. For a moment he too thought that the man was reacting badly due to the shock of waking up. And perhaps due to the death of his son. But from the look on Fleamont he realized it wasn't.

He smirked. "Your plan worked."

Fleamont eyed him. "My plan? I literally just woke."

Severus didn't buy it. "Oh we know Arcturus just walked into your hands."

Fleamont didn't deny it. "The boy needs to be with someone while I recover."

Severus agreed. "You could simply have told him the truth."

There was a reason the boy had gone to Arcturus. And there was a reason that Orion knew of the boy. Both Fleamont and Severus were fully aware of the secrets the little boy held. Arcturus had as much obligation to Harry as Fleamont did. And Fleamont knew Severus was right in that would have been easier to simply tell him the truth. But Fleamont wasn't ready to lay all the cards on the table right now. He needed time to recover and be on even footing when he dealt with the man.

He sighed. "I need to know about my son and his wife. And all I have missed. Arcturus can wait."

Arcturus arrived back at Grimmauld and looked at the boy. How had he ended up agreeing to take the brat? He knew he could not send the child back. He lived at Grimmauld alone and no one would notice him. Kreacher for some reason seemed to like the boy even though he was not a pureblood. He would assume the elf would help and there were other elves to help. But the second that Fleamont came back to his senses the child would be gone. He was not amused at all by this situation.

He took the boy up to the top floor of the house. He assumed the room used by the boy's godfather would be an appropriate room. The fact that it was a floor away from his own made it all the better in his mind.

He put the boy down on the bed. "This is your room. You will remain here."

Harry eyed him. "I sleep here but I come play?'

"You will stay here." Arcturus glared.

Harry pouted a little. "Grandpa come play?"

Arcturus went to leave. "Your grandfather sent you here."

Kreacher appeared. "Master Harry back."

Arcturus looked at him. "The boy seems to be staying."

Kreacher handed Harry his dog. "All fixed."

Harry happily hugged his dog. "Paddi."

Arcturus looked at the elf. "You will look after the boy. I will not be bothered."

Kreacher looked thrilled. "I take very good care. But master?"

Arcturus grunted. "I will bring an elf from the manor. The boy seems to like you."

With that he left the room and went to deal with work. He did give Kreacher orders though to go to the muggles and get whatever the boy had there. Clearly the boy would need some clothes and toys and he assumed the boy had some at the home. Kreacher knew not to be seen but he was sent to bring whatever he could find. When the elf was gone he sunk down at his desk to get work done. He had wasted enough time on the boy and the drama. There were papers to send before the end of the year.

He was confused later when he went down for dinner when he found Harry sitting at the table. He had clearly said the boy was to remain in his room. He was not humored that Kreacher was feeding him there.

He glared at the elf. "I told you the boy was to stay in his room."

Kreacher looked at him. "Master always say no food but in dining room."

Arcturus didn't like reminding. "He will return when done. Why is he still in those rags?"

"All he have master." Kreacher admitted.

"I sent you to pick up his things."

Kreacher bowed. "Only tattered clothes master. And the blanket."

Arcturus saw a scrap of a blanket and realized it was the blanket the boy had before. But only a piece. "Where is the rest?"

Harry whimpered. "Uncle burn. He try burn Paddi. No let."

Arcturus realized many of the bruises came from saving his dog and blanket. He looked at Kreacher. "My grandsons had things."

Kreacher nodded. "In attic master."

Arcturus sat down. "You will bring down whatever will work for the boy."

Arcturus watched the boy as he ate. He tried not to but he told himself it was least the child could feed himself and didn't seem to make a mess. He told Kreacher if the boy was to eat here to ensure he was done before Arcturus was done. He had no intention of seeing the boy any more then he had to. He was reminded why the nursery was in a different wing in the manor.

Kreacher went to take Harry when done. "Time for bath little master and bed."

Harry got up but he looked. "Grandpa read?"

Arcturus didn't even look up. "I don't read stories."

Harry looked miffed. "Grandpa O tell."

Arcturus snapped. "Well my son is asleep. You will go to bed."

Kreacher took him. "I will read."

Arcturus was happy to finish his meal in peace before heading back up finished the last of the papers and sent them off with an knew he would have to go the manor in two days. If he did not someone would come here and he did not wish to explain the boy Pollux was the only one who knew about the boy but not that he was was here. He was confused he had not seen his cat in hours, having not sent Zar back to the manor. He usually slept here. He summoned Kreacher to find out.

Kreacher smiled. "He be sleeping with Master Harry."

Arcturus went towards his own room. "Of course he is."

Arcturus had not had a great sleep the night before. He told himself that it was simply the disruption on his life. He couldn't have even found his way to a nursery in the manor when his kids were young. He was only hands on when old enough to teach. Sirius may have complained his parents were cold but Orion was more hands on then his father ever was. He could admit what he learned about the muggles had him concerned. And his wonder if Albus had known about it. He had butted heads with the man more than once.

In the morning he went into the library to collect a book. He usually used the den or the office on the main floor but the library from time to time. It had been a favorite of his son's and was no surprise Orion's painting was in it.

He was confused when he saw a chair moved to next to the fire and more that his son's painting was now over it. "What?"

Orion was not pretending to be asleep. "Quiet father."

Arcturus snarled. "Not pretending to be asleep I see. Why redecorate? And you will answer me this time."

Orion seemed to want to aggravate him. "About what father? And we can have this with my painting at the manor."

Arcturus snarled. "There is only one painting awake. I didn't take orders from when you alive. I certainly will not start now."

Orion tried. "Father please calm. He needs rest."

Arcturus was furious. "The boy is floors away and again I don't know why you care."

He turned though and found there was a reason that his son and the chair had been moved. Well a part of one. He found the boy once again asleep in the chair and as always he had the cat. The only difference seemed to be that he had been supplied a pillow and a blanket. He couldn't fathom what the boy was doing in here. He had been given a perfectly good room.

Orion watched the little boy and his father as Harry started to stir. Even as a painting he had concern for the little boy sleeping there. He hoped for the boy's sake his father could be reasonable about this.

Harry came around. "Grandpa."

Arcturus grunted. "What are you doing in here?"

Harry drew back. "Grandpa O."

"I told you to stay in your room. Why are you sleeping in here?"

Harry pointed at painting. "You no tell story, Grandpa O tell."

"Kreacher will tell you stories. You will sleep in your bed." Arcturus pushed.

Harry held to the cat. "Kitty and I like fire."

Arcturus was close to losing it. "Zar can sleep by the fire all he chooses. You will sleep in your room."

"Kitty wants to sleep by the fire." Harry pushed.

Arcturus was done with this fight. "Kreacher." and when the elf appeared. "Take the boy for breakfast and to his room."

Harry looked at the painting. "Grandpa O?"

Orion looked at the boy and at Kreacher. "Have my painting moved to the boy's room and a fire will be lit at night."

Kreacher went to take Harry. "Come have breakfast master and I move."

Arcturus watched the little boy lead off by the elf. His cat trailed off after the boy as well. He rubbed his temples and knew he needed to calm before he had a migraine. He did not comprehend why the boy staying in his bedroom was such a difficult concept for him. Okay maybe it was not a suite like a nursery at the manor but the boy should be grateful for what he had.

Orion broke him from his thoughts. "He is scared."

Arcturus turned to his son. "What?"

Orion seemed to have spoken to him. "The dark. He had light under the door of his cupboard with the muggles."

"The cupboard? The cupboard?" Arcturus growled.

"He was sleeping in a crawl space under the stairs from what Keacher found. There seems to have been night lighting in the hall."

Arcturus found himself even more angered at the muggles. "Under stairs? They surely had a room."

Orion went to go to sleep. "Not they would give the child. The fire should help."

Arcturus was angry. "You still have not told me."

Orion laughed. "What father?"

With that the painting went back to sleep and Arcturus stormed out of the room. He went down for breakfast even though he knew the boy would still be eating. He found himself looking at the boy and thinking about the cupboard. He wasn't sure why after the blanket, dog and bruises he was shocked. He kept telling himself he only cared as he wanted peace around here. He smirked when Kreacher asked to take Harry into the back garden to play. The elf seemed to be ignoring his rules but he grudgingly agreed. He smirked when Harry asked if Zar could come with him. He nodded his head but he doubted the cat would allow it.

He was shocked as Zar followed him out. "Charming half blood hating elves, human hating cats, and my son? What is it with this child?"
