The next day, I slipped into class late to avoid having to speak to Tamaki, ignored every note dropped on my desk, and nearly sprinted when the lunch bell rang. By the time afternoon classes had rolled around, I expected Tamaki to drag me out of the room to talk. But he was no where to be found. Neither was Kyoya. However, a note sat on my desk with a single rose pedal atop it.
Please come to the Host Club immediately after class.
- Big Sister
…What?
The handwriting is Tamaki's, and Japanese is clearly not my first language, so I could be reading this incorrectly. But no matter how many times I look over the characters I keep reading 'big sister.'
Once class let out, I did as instructed. I found Haruhi waiting outside the door, waiting.
"Hey." She greeted.
"Hey, did the boys leave you a note?" I asked. She nodded.
"Greetings young ladies!" We both turned to see the Lobelia girls approaching. "We're here as promised! Were you waiting for us here?"
"No." I said bluntly at the same time as Haruhi spoke.
"The guys told me to come in with you when you arrived. They've been acting weird all morning." She explained, opening the door. The lights in the music room were all off as we walked into the room.
"Ouran~!" We heard one of the twins sing.
"Ouran~!" The other added.
"Ouran~! Ouran~! Ouran~ Ouran~!" The rest of the hosts added. "Welcomes you!"
The lights flipped on, revealing all of the hosts (except Mori) dressed in elaborate ball gowns and heavy makeup. I stared at the boys, taking in the ridiculous sight.
"Welcome back Lori, Haruhi!" Tamaki sauntered over to us.
"Look Haru-chan! Lori-chan! I'm a princess!" Hunny sang, dancing in front of us.
"What is the meaning of this!? Do you mean to insult womankind!" Benio screamed, clearly getting over her shock faster than I.
"Insult!?" Tamaki repeated, shocked. "Absolutely not! This is all according to plan! It's the 'two-in-one' plan! Why would our girls leave when they're part of a club that has both brothers and sisters!? Isn't that a great idea? Aren't I pretty?"
"We're the Hitachiin sisters! Which one of us is prettier?" The twins asked.
"Listen! You both can call me big sister from now on!" Hunny smiled.
"These young ladies won't be won over by this act!" Benio screeched. And that was the final straw. I couldn't contain my giggles for another second. Apparently, neither could Haruhi. We both erupted into uncontrollable laughter, doubling over with tears in our eyes.
"I knew you guys were a bunch of goofballs!" Haruhi managed to get out through her laughter.
"But this is way too much! What on earth are you trying to do!?" I cackled.
"Are we really that funny?" The twins and Hunny asked, getting close to us and causing us to laugh harder.
"Please! No more!" Haruhi managed to get out before turning to the Lobelia girls. "I'm sorry. It takes all kinds, and I think your unique way of looking at life is… interesting, but I have a dream I want to fulfill. That's why I came to Ouran. I've never had any intention of leaving."
"And you've known my stance on your school since you sent your super fans to rush the stage at my show in Singapore!" I said, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"If you were never going to leave, why'd you get so upset yesterday!" Tamaki cried.
"You sold my belongings! Of course I was mad!"
"You all annoyed me. Leaving with Haruhi was the quickest way out of a frustrating situation."
"I'm not giving up on you ladies." Benibara sighed. "I swear to you, I will rescue you and destroy the Host Club!"
"Au revoir~!" I sang as they finally made their leave. "So, when did you boys get your hands on my stage make up?"
