Furor

After their treasured isolation was ended by the rampaging Southswarders, Nest had been put to the torch, and its inhabitants were taken to their base at Loamhedge. As the Mossflower Alliance gets closer to the point of conquest, the question on their inhabitants' minds is 'Where in the world are they?' However, there's always a better question to ask.

Why were they in the Perched Bird Tavern?

"Oh man, the Perched Bird is so fun!" declared Sebias, ordering another tankard of strawberry fizz. "I can stay here forever!"

"Quick, there's another live minigame happening!" Fret exclaimed, downing his own tankard and rushing over.

"Hang on, I need to do my daily tickets before everything resets for the night!" Jared screeched, scrambling to do so.

"Leute, wir müssen nach Nest!" Kiordan said. Anything could have happened back there, and the otter was worried. But not too worried for his eyes to drift towards a nearby card game.

Returning home after a few days of revelry usually don't involve villages filled with corpses, but the game always found a way to surprise its players.

Seb spoke for them all. "What the heck?"

Fret's eyes widened. "Could it be?"

"It is," Jared swallowed audibly. "This part never gets easier…"

Kio covered his mouth, too shocked to even speak.

"The ferret revolution has begun!" Fret cheered, and burst into a happy dance. "Yay for vermin!" he devolved into maniacal laughter.

Sebias winced. "Geez, that's a bit excessive!"

Kio shook his head in disapproval. "Hör auf, Frettchen!"

"Hey, I'm still alive over here!" groaned a random, unnamed, but very familiar Nestene.

"What happened here?" asked Sebias, wondering why he was slated with all the boring, plot-driving dialogue.

"Use magic to see!" the Nestene who was in the last chapter coughed, as the world faded into a flashback. Liska and Eula were speaking-

"Ah, so it was her!" Sebias nodded. "Skip!"

The random Nestene blinked. "You… skipped the flashback?"

Fret yawned. "Yeah, we got stuff to do, you know. I don't care about your dead tails. I mean, you can literally see the Southswarder base through the Veil! Did you really think they'd never find you?"

The Nestene choked all the harder, tears poured out of his eyes. "I wasn't even… I died for nothing." He died.

The otter Paladin put on a look of determination, and sunglasses. "Now it's getting real."

"Didn't it get real when we fought the equivalent of a god?" Fret muttered. "Twice?"

"Yeah. But now it's got," the otter put on another pair of sunglasses. "Extra real."

"So you mean Eula got a vision that a 'Suneater' is coming to invade this world, and only now did she want us to know?" Sebias demanded, staring at the haggard old vixen in shock.

"She thought it had something to do with the Southswarders, while I didn't. So we decided not to tell you until we had answers."

"Yeah, yeah, a likely story." Jared scoffed. "So what should we do now?"

"Wait for Skoven and Bard, I guess?" the vixen suggested, to stone-cold silence. "I'm Meliandre, by the way."

"It turns out the Juska have captured the Flitchaye and searates, and are planning to summon the wind elemental!" Skoven expositioned, a short while later.

"Seriously?" Sebias groaned. "This is the worst of our troubles? Nest is gone, for heaven's sake!"

The squirrel shrugged. "Well, Eula told me to go research the Juska, so…"

"This is why the plot goes so slowly!" Fret snapped. "Nothing makes sense!"

"So do you want a boss battle or not?" Bard asked, filling the video game quota of giving every character a line.

Sebias shrugged. "Sure, why not."

0000

"Treacherous mortals," howled Furor, the Wind Demon. "Feel the wrath of the four winds!"

"Yeah, every Elemental says that. Sepulture did, and Inundation too." Sebias replied, completely deadpan.

"And we beat them into the ground and forced them to go crying back to their mummies!" Fret cackled.

"Guess what's going to happen to you next?" Jared offered.

"Jetzt ist es Zeit zu sterben!" said Kio, nobeast understood him.

There was a long pause, wherein Furor was not sure what to say. At long last she exclaimed. "Then it is thy time to perish!"

"Das habe ich gerade gesagt!" shouted Kio. "Kiormund Stromschlacht!"

"Oh my god, he just ran in!" Seb facepawed.

0000

Furor had seen better days… "Er… thy Lord and Master doth require reinforcements!" he groaned.

"Get the searats and Flitchaye in!" roared the Head Juska.

"Do you know how to summon Elementals?" asked another Juska.

"Er, I think so." the searat scratched the back of his head. "Not entirely sure yet…"

"Just quit thinking and do it!" barked the Juska.

Inundation, the great sea serpent, and Sepulture, the titan of stone appeared out of nowhere.

"Great!" Fret cheered. "More Elementals to kill!"

"Have you noticed that it's still in a cutscene, little ferret?" Kezda snapped, suddenly walking into the scene, with a menacing-looking black sphere next to him. The general turned to it and smiled. "Please be a good boy and waste these wimps for me." It proceeded to swallow all three elementals and belch.

Fret's eyes gleamed. "I need me one of those!"

"By 'me' you mean 'us', right?" Jared chuckled nervously.

"No."

"How the heck are we going to fight that thing?" Seb demanded, shaking his head. Was something this overpowered even allowed?

"Spoiler alert. Really easily, to be honest," replied Jared.

A/N: Happy birthday, Crafter! I know you're not on on the fandom much, but please accept this gift.
