Months had passed since Izuku got conscripted with the other trainees. And now he and his fellow cadets were out in the mountains of Reach where they were all abandoned with the given objective to find the extraction point where a Pelican dropship would be waiting for them.

Each trainee was given a section of map and before they all got dropped off and separated Izuku whispered an Idea to his new found friends Sam and Kelly about meeting up at a nearby Lake and to tell the others.

And so here they were. Waiting near a lake waiting for the others to gather together. Izuku decided to spend his time waiting by laying in extremely tall grass and staring up at the night sky. It was a breath taking sight really. The stars and planets above twinkled in a display of amazement.

He let out a small sigh until he heard movement in the grass and sat up to see Kelly stepping out. "Mind if I join you?"

"Uh y-yeah I don't mind at all." Replied Izuku shyly. Even though the two had become close friends since the day they met. Izuku couldn't help his habit of being nervous around a girl. Especially a pretty one with just him alone.

Kelly smiles softly and settled down laying back beside the green haired boy looking up at the same stars he was. He lays back trying to hide the fact he's blushing. They both stay silent enjoying the peace but Izuku decided to break the silence.

"You ever wonder what's up there?"

Kelly tilts her head and looks towards him "Like what?"

"Maybe someone up there is wondering what it's like down here." Izuku shrugs

"I guess... Do you think we'll ever meet them?" She asks rolling onto her side looking at him.

"I hope so.. Don't you?" He asked looking back at her.

Kelly thinks for a moment and nods in response until Sam appears behind them. "Everyone's here."

Izuku and Kelly stand up and follow sam back to see Fred, Linda and all the others. They quickly pull out their map pieces and start putting them together like a puzzle occasionally throwing the odd piece away that was a fake to throw them off.

"This looks like the extraction point here." Pointed out Serin

Jorge leaned forward glancing and tap the paper map "And I'm assuming that's the lake where we are."

Daisy sighed rubbing her neck "Looks like a big hike for all of us then. Could take us most of the night if we don't make a move soon."

"There's still a problem though. Remember what Mendez said before we started." Spoke Will

"One of us will have to stay behind" answered Linda grimly. The other cadets looked at one another wondering who would it be.

"No."

Everyone turned to look at Izuku in surprise as he spoke. "No ones getting left behind. We'll all go home. And if one of us has to stay then I'll volunteer to do it."

Kelly and Sam shared a look as well as the others but before anyone could voice an alternative option Izuku was already on the ground collecting the map pieces and started heading towards the extraction point. "Let's move out."

Izuku sat in a tree with Linda and Jorge as they scanned the Pelican that was parked at the extraction point. The Pelican was being guarded by a bunch of men that weren't wearing standard military uniforms or anything close to what they were used to back on base.

"This all seems a little sus don't you think." Whispered Linda.

"What part makes it sus? The fact they're guarding it or the fact they armed." Responded Izuku

"I choose both. So what do we do?" Asked Jorge.

"Fall back to the others and inform them of the situation. We'll make a plan from there." Said Izuku before he began quietly climbing down the tree with the other two following behind.

As they got back they explained the situation and began to form a plan. Izuku has his hand to his chin and began mumbling possible scenarios but no one could hear a word he was saying. With a sigh Sam smacks him in the back of the head to make him stop.

"Ah! What was that for?" Groaned Izuku as he rubbed his head.

"You were mumbling again" spoke Fred.

Kelly was quick to cut him off "Anyway. Do you got a plan at all."

Izuku smirked "Yeah. I think I do."

"Ah! HAHAHAHA! Ah Ha Ha Ha Ha!" Echoed from the trees.

"What the hell was that?" Asked one of the guards.

"Could be one of those kids. Go check it out." Replied the other guard.

The first guard groans and cocks his pistol before walking off in the direction of the laugh. He walks through to find Izuku standing alone with his hands on his hips smiling proudly and confidently. "Hey kid was that you making that noise?" Asked the guard hiding the pistol behind his back.

Izuku nodded "Indeed it was citizen!" Said Izuku trying time make his voice sound deep.

"Okay that's just getting annoying." The guard rolled his eyes drawing his pistol on him.

Izuku continued smiling and spoke loudly "I Am Here!!!!! As a distraction!"

"Wait what?" Wondered the guard out loud before a rock flew out of a tree hitting him hard in the head knocking him out.

Izuku crossed his arms smiling normally "Nice throw." He spoke looking up at Linda in the tree.

"Thanks but you really need to work on your diversions. Why did you pick to do an All Might impression?" Asked Linda as she jumped out of the tree.

Izuku rubbed his neck sheepishly "It's the only thing I can think of."

"Well it worked I guess." Said Kelly as she and Fred dragged the other unconscious guard and laid him beside the one Linda took out.

"Alright. Kelly. You go check on Sam and the others who were set up for ambushes. Linda grab the others and wait here. Fred and I are gonna take a closer look at that Pelican." Said Izuku as he turned and started walking towards the dropship.

Fred was quick to join him and both of them managed to sneak on without trouble and climbed into the cockpit. "Looks like it's all fueled and ready to go." Said Izuku checking the display.

"That's great. But do you know how to fly it?" Asked Fred looking at him.

"Uh no... do you?" Asked Izuku

"Unfortunately I think I may have missed that lesson from Dèjá." Chuckles Fred.

Izuku eyes widened slightly as realisation comes into his mind. He quickly goes to the cockpits computer and starts typing "Fred you're a genius!"

"Huh?" Fred watched Izuku in confusion for a moment until the Hologram of Dèjá appeared.

"Izuku 117. You called for me?" Spoke the AI calmly and politely.

"Dèjá. You wouldn't happen to know how to fly a Pelican dropship do you?" Asked Izuku

"I do. Why do you ask?" Replied the A.I with curiousity

"We need to return to base but no one knows how to operate it." Answered Fred.

"I see. Well then get the children on board and I'll return you all to base."

Dr Halsey stood beside Sargent Mendez as Izuku retold the training mission and how he got Déjà to fly the dropship back to base. She glanced at Mendez as he crossed his arms looking at the green haired boy. "Explain to me 117 why you saw it appropriate to attack the men who were guarding the ship?"

"Sir. The men weren't in uniform and were armed. Based on that information I judged them as threat and decided it was possible they could've been insurrectionists." Izuku replied standing at full attention.

"I see. And I believe that one of you was meant to be left behind." Said Mendez as he leaned forward in his desk.

"Yes sir. However I refused to let anyone stay behind. And so I'll take it upon myself to accept any punishment for refusing to let my fellow trainees fall behind." Spoke Izuku with confidence.

Mendez raises a brow and turned to Halsey "What do you think we should do with him Doctor?"

Halsey looked from Mendez to Izuku with a small smile forming on her lips "I think you've just found their Team Leader."

Izuku's eyes widened slightly but stayed at attention as Mendez turned back to him. "Congratulations 117. You've been promoted to team Leader. And I believe we have another mission for you and the rest of the Cadets."

"Thank you Sir... whats the mission objective?" Asked the green haired boy.

"The objective... is to survive" answered Halsey in a serious tone.

6 months later

Onboard UNSC Military Medical Station in Planet Reach's Orbit

Izuku stared at the ground as he watched his dark green hair fall to the floor as his head became clean shaven. He was quick to note that he cold fill the cold air of the medical station on where his hair once was.

"He's ready" spoke the man who gave him his new haircut as he turned off the electric razor.

"This way 117." Spoke a woman wearing a lab coat as-well as gloves and a surgical mask. Izuku got to his feet and stood in only a pair of briefs and followed the woman to a large room where he could see his fellow trainees being strapped down to some form of operating tables.

He walked past Kelly as she became fully strapped down and glanced at Sam who just started to lay back on his table. "Lay back please " asked the woman as she gestured to his table.

Izuku nodded and laid down on the table between Will and Serin. He felt the cold of the table on his exposed skin but the woman was quick to strap him down and place some kind of breathing mask over his face.

"Trainees! This is your first and biggest step towards becoming Spartans. I wish you all luck." Spoke Halsey as she stood in the center of the room checking over everyone. She sighs quietly and marches off to the main viewing room where she can watch tv screens as well as the cadets vitals.

"Begin the Augmention procedure." She spoke clearly but quietly. With a nod a man at a computer typed away and pressed enter.

Lasers quickly scanned over Izukus body as drill like needles lined themselves up at different locations across his body. His breathing increased as his eyes darted across looking at the needles getting closer and closer.

He closed his eyes tightly a split second before the needles became inserted and instantly his body felt on fire and burning on both the outside and the inside. Tears filled his eyes as he gritted his teeth fighting the pain.

But soon the room became filled with screams from his fellow Cadets. He could hear some of them thrashing around while others screamed and cried begging for it to stop. He could hear Serin beside him groan trying to fight back the need to scream and the pain.

As the seconds ticked by the pain only increased along with volume of the others screams. But occasionally the odd one would stop and become replaced the sound of no pulse on a heart monitor.

Izuku clenched his teeth and fists hard and tight as tears escaped from his eyes as he continued to fight on and do anything he can to survive the procedure.
