Gamesphere existed in the late 1970's where it's inhabitants are from the video games at that time however, the world became uninhabitable after the Video Game Crash of 1983 but become inhabitable again in 1985.
It wasn't exactly peaceful in Gamesphere as every now and then, this world gets invaded by creatures known as bugs, glitches and viruses which represents common problems in games and in order to battle these creatures, the VG Government created the World Super Protectors.
And after that, the entire Gamesphere went on a war when a large number of invaders nearly overtaken the world, this event is called the Great Invader War.
The VG (Video Game) Government was created after every kingdom united. Most kingdoms across Gamesphere are members of the VG Government, although some kingdoms are completely independent. Mostly, it is up to each kingdom to govern their daily affairs, although each kingdom has the World Super Protectors stationed across the world and their authority extends to any members of the VG Government should they be stationed on one. Usually, the VG Government only gets involved when dealing with invaders or an event affecting multiple locations.
The World Super Protectors, commonly known as the Protectors, are the VG Government's military organization tasked in taking on and eliminating threats such as the inavders. They are present in all the kingdoms around the Gamesphere and as the premier military army of the VG Government, even with the threat of invaders that can literally destroy the world, they stand between global order and invader annihilation.
Anyone with the ability to fight or at least contribute in taking down the invaders are allowed to join the Protectors. However, during the Great Invader War, out of desperation, a lot of characters with no combat abilities were forced to take part of the war. These characters would then gain the ability to fight after getting trained hard to the bone or we're given magical artifacts or powers.
And even after the war ended, the battle against the invaders continues on as the threats to the world would often appears on a weekly or monthly basis and the Protectors are often deployed to get rid of them.
In an abandoned city somewhere in PC Kingdom, the city is in complete ruins, the building are extremely old with cracks all over and the windows are all shattered, wrecked cars and debris are scattered around the ruined streets, pole bend down and the street signs are all rusted.
Walking around the streets of the ruined city are a large number of strange creatures. The creatures has blue-colored holographic skin tone with a large body with a wide shoulder, a blocky arms and hands, stub legs and blocky foots. It has a rectangular-shaped head with yellow eyes and zigzag-like mouths. These are Glitches, a cmmon threat in Gamesphere.
Unbeknownst to the creatures, three individuals are seen standing on top of one building.
The first individual is a young man has a messy brown hair with pointy ends and has brown eyes. He wears a bluish-purple colored sleeveless gii over a red muscle shirt, bluish-purple colored hakama pants, bluish-purple colored socks wrapped by white bandages all over his calves and the middle of his feet and wears brown slippers. He wears a red colored long scarf, brown bands on each arms, white tapes wrapped around each of his wrist and a loose, metallic belt over a red sash. This is Strider Hiryu.
The second individual is another young man with a slim yet muscular physique. He wears a black headwear with a silver-colored protector and a red long scarf wrapped around his face. He wears a gray faded bodysuit underneath a black armored chestplate with red linings, black pants with an yellow & black octagon-shaped buckled belt wrapped around his waist, black & gray bricked tassets protecting both side of his legs, metallic kneepads over a black shinguards, red socks, armored footwears, arm gauntlets with spikes and red gloves. This is Hotsuma.
The third individual is a young woman has a slim and voluptuous frame, and has a large breast. She has a long brown hair tied in a high ponytail by an armored hair pin and has gray eyes. She wears a red skin-tight bodysuit with fishnet elements on each side of her hips, she wears a dark-brown body armor with her breasts exposed, she wears a blue-colored spaulders with a demonic face, a fishnet arm-sleeves underneath a blue armored gauntlet and red fingerless gloves, she wears a blue-colored armored kneepads with a demonic face, armored shinguards over red socks and armored slippers. This is Taki.
Hiryu then placed a finger on his transceiver, "Hiryu to HQ.'' he called, "We're on position.'' he declared.
"Listen team.'' a voice from the transceiver spoke, "The VG Goverment plans on reviving this city and make it inhabitable again however they can't do that with the Glitches around.'' it explained, "You're task is to eliminate every Glitches in the area.'' he instructed, "We don't know how many Glitches are there, so we suggest that you guys set a camp there for the rest of the week until every Glitches are gone.'' it finished.
Hiryu nodded, "Understood.'' he complied.
Taki looks down, "I still can't believe that the Glitches keeps on coming even after the war ended.'' she commented.
Hotsuma crosses his arms, "Glitches will keep on coming as long as the computer programmers kept on messing the games they make.'' he stated.
Hiryu turns to them, "Are the other guys ready?'' he questioned.
Hotsuma and Taki looks forward to see five more individuals standing on top of another building, "They seems ready.'' the former replied, "And are eager to take these creatures down.'' he added.
The first individual is an elderly man has blue eyes and has a dark-brown hair, and a thick facial hair. He wears dark-green military jacket over a white shirt with a pocket straps all over his body, khaki pants, black boots, black gloves and a beret. This is John Price.
The second individual is a young woman has a curvy frame with a modest bust and has slim legs. She has a fair skin tone, a long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail and has blue eyes with green tints. She wears a blue skin-tight body suit with black linings and dark-blue patches on her sides and around her thigh area, she wears black cuffs with yellow rings and black & silver stilleto boots with yellow line marks. This is Samus Aran.
The third individual is a tall man with a short dark-brown hair and dark-brown eyes. He wears a dirty white bomber jacket with furred hood and shoulder pad over a black tight shirt with goggles wrapped around his neck, a ammo-strapped suspenders are attacked to his black pants with dark-gray cowboy-like camouflage pants, a silver-colored circular buckled brown belt with holsters attached on each sides, metal kneepads, camouflage-colored boots and brown gloves. This is Wayne Holden.
The fourth individual is a brown-skinned young girl with sharp brown eyes and short dark brown hair. Her outfit consists of a tan blouse with a brown border around the collar with a blue dress and red sash, and wears black shorts underneath. Red prayer beads with a white tassel rest on her head. This is Ajna.
The fifth individual is a towering bald hulk with a semi-shaved face. He wears a black vest with a bullet belt strapped around his chest, fingerless gloves, black pants and black combat boots. This is The Heavy.
"What about the other two?'' Hiryu asked.
"They're probably hiding somewhere in the city waiting to attack." Hotsuma replied.
"So, when are we gonna strike?'' Taki asked.
"We wait for the signal.'' Hiryu replied.
On cue, a green-colored P-38 Lightning from the 1941: Counter Attack flew past above the city dropping several missiles down to the city square, creating a huge explosions, getting the attentions of the Glitches as the creatures made their way to where the explosion is.
"That's the signal!'' Hiryu pointed out, "Go! Go!" he commanded.

The group of eight people drops down the building and landed safely on the ground and quickly charges towards the creatures at the city square.
The first to attack is John, the old man is seen firing his shotgun on top of a higher ground, "Oh yeah! Take those ya bloody wankers!" he exclaimed as he continues to fire his weapon, "Oh hell yeah!" he shouted, "Take this!'' he yelled before throwing a grenade towards a a group of Glitches, blasting them off the ground.
Samus shoots her handgun towards a group of pirates, paralyzing them on the process, Samus then swung her Plasma Whip, sending the pirates crashing towards different directions. She then aimed her arm cannon towards one Glitch before firing a long beam shot, blasting a hole on the creature's chest, killing it.
The Heavy ran forward firing his machine gun with a mad laughter, "Hahahahaha! Cry some more!'' he shouted as kept on raining bullets towards the Glitches, taking them all down one by one which eventually end up of him standing on top of a pile of dead Glitches.
Ajan charges forward and began to unleash a fury of punches and kicks at one Glitch, not letting it get the chance to fight back and after one kick, sending the creature backwards, she brought her bow and shot three arrows at three Glitch and then grabbing an ax before throwing it towards the Glitch's head, killing it.
Wayne is seen blasting one Glitch to another using his laser rifle when a large Glitch appears before him and tried to strike him down with it's large fist but Wayne rolls out of the way, he quickly got up and brought out a rocket launcher before firing it towards the Glitch, blasting it apart.
Taki then charges forward at one Glitch, "Ougi!" she shouted before kicking her foe, she then created two clones of herself before all three of them slashed their targets, Taki then takes down the creature with a final strike, "Stay down.'' she advised.
Hotsuma grabs the hilt of his blade Akujiki before charging forward in extreme speed while leaving a ghostly trail, he then proceeds to strike down one Glitch after another by a single strike, Hotsuma then performed a hand seal, "FIRE JUTSU!" he chanted as a burning circle appears beneath one Glitch, incinerating it to ashes.
Similarly to Hotsuma, Hiryu grabs his plasma sword Cypher, charging towards a group of creatures while taking then down one by one by simply slicing the creatures with his weapon, Hiryu then threw miniature bombs towards another group of Glitches, blasting them off the ground, Hiryu then charges forward and stabs another Glitch on the head with his sword.
Then the P-38 Lightning returns and drops several missiles down to the city square, creating a huge explosion, getting the attentions of more Glitches hiding in the area.
As this is going on, two more person joins the fight.
The first person is a young man has a muscular frame with a long, straight blonde hair and has blue eyes. He wears a gray gii with a dark-blue & red flaming design with a black sash wrapped around his waist and a dark-blue muscle shirt underneath. He wears a baggy pants with a gray, dark-blue & red flaming design and black boots. He also wears a leather gauntlet with a gray, dark-blue & red flaming design. This is Andy Bogard.
The second person is a tall and muscular man with a blonde hair styled in a tall flattop and a has gray eyes. He wears a green top with two dog tags dangling around his neck, green & brown camouflaged cargo pants and black army boots. This is Guile.
Andy attacks one Glitch by hitting with a standing light punch and before taking it down by a standing light kick. He turns his attention to another Glitch and strikes it down with another standing light kick, Andy then lean forward to another Glitch before striking it down with palm strike.
Guile moves behind a Glitch and wraps his arms around it's waist before taking it down with a Dragon Suplex, Guile stood up and charges towards another Glitch and leaps forward into the air and fires a Sonic Boom at a downward 45° angle, blasting the creature apart.
Then the P-38 Lightning returns and drops several missiles down to the city square, creating a huge explosion and blasting several more Glitches to bits.
It's night time and after hours of fighting, we see the group gathered around on one rooftop of a building. Taki, Hiryu, Hotsuma, Ajna, Samus and the Heavy are seen gathered around the campfire while Andy and Guile are seen having a conversation at a side and Wayne and Price are seen looking down the streets at the edge of the rooftop.
"We'll set a camp here tonight and the nights that will follow.'' Hiryu announced, "Glitches respawns a few times before disappearing completely, so we'll be staying here a bit until the all Glitches are gone and stops respawning.'' he advised.
"Still... even with the leaders of the Invaders gone... the Glitches still kept on coming.'' Samus pointed out.
"Like the Glitches, we also have to deal with the bugs and viruses as well.'' Taki added.
Hotsuma crosses his arms, "Like I said before... these creatures will keep on coming as long as the computer programmers kept on messing the games they made.'' he stated.
Samus sighed, "At times like this and as much as I hate to admit it... I wished that the 'Cunning Bastard' is here to help us out.'' she muttered.
"Right.'' Taki said in agreement.
"Cunning Bastard?'' Ajna asked.
The Heavy turns to her, "Oh right... you're a recent recruit in the Protectors, so of course, you had no idea about the 'Cunning Bastard'.'' he pointed out.
"What is the 'Cunning Bastard'?" Ajna asked, "Some sort of legendary fighter.'' she guessed.
Hiryu sighed, "No... he is no legendary fighter or someone people respected.'' he clarified, "Just another person that partook that war against the invaders.'' he stated.
"Then why Samus mentioned him if his like that?'' Ajna asked with a raised eyebrow.
Samus sighed, "It's true that I never like the guy nor respected him but his feats during the war are undeniably respectable.'' she admitted, "Believe it or not... in his game... the 'Cunning Bastard' doesn't even know how to fight.'' she revealed.
"E-Eh?!" Ajna squawked in disbelief, "Then why is he part of the war?'' she questioned.
"Some characters from games has some characteristics and traits that are not present in their respective games.'' Samus pointed out, "Just like the Heavy... who has fondness for cats which wasn't present in his game.'' she exemplified.
"I love cats.'' the Heavy chimed in.
"In his game... the 'Cunning Bastard' is incredibly egotistical and clumsy, lacking empathy or morals.'' Samus stated, "His game mostly in the form of point-and-click adventure with no battle options.'' she explained, "But out from his game... the 'Cunning Bastard' is definitely just a regular human, but through intense training which gave him an out-and-out superhuman abilities and being a determinator, he manages to stand up to and defeat people of mass destruction and superpowerful invaders.'' she finished with a serious face.
Then an image of a silhouette of a man standing on top of a pile dead Glitches, despite being a silhouette, the man seems to wear some sort of cap with straps and a coat that goes a little past his knees.
"The 'Cunning Bastard' with his cunning mind and combined with his impressive capabilities as a fighter, made him famous among our comrades and struck fear into the hearts of the Invaders.'' Samus declared.
"But where is he now?'' Ajna asked.
Hotsuma sighed, "He resigned from the Protectors after the war... saying he wanted to live a normal life.'' he replied.
"But knowing him... I bet he will never get a normal life that he wants." Hiryu commented, "He is, after all, a magnet of disaster.'' he said.
And chapter done! I wrote this kind of chapter to show that this fic is not all fun and games, this fic, after all, has taken inspirations from the Gintama anime and manga. As for the "Cunning Bastard'... he will revealed later on.
