Here it is, chapter 3
Beck sighs in relief when he opens the door to his apartment and finds Tori gone.
Thank god, Beck thinks to himself. He smiles as sees Andre standing in their small kitchen cooking eggs.
"Hey, man!" Beck says, patting Andre on the back and opening the fridge to get water.
"Heey..." Andre hesitates before saying, "so, uh, we had a little visitor last night-
"Andre, I know. I came back at around 4 to grab some stuff and saw her on the couch. Why was she here?" Beck asks, confusion, anger, and tiredness all laced into his voice.
"Cat and I ran into her last night at the club. She said something about going to Julliard and needing a place to stay. I felt bad since she seemed drunk off her ass and figured I'd be the nice guy that I am and offer her our couch for the night. Cat needed to be looked after too and didn't know where her roommate was so I took the two of them to our apartment. When I woke up, they were both gone." Andre finishes by shrugging his shoulders and placing the eggs in the pan onto his plate with the spatula.
"I don't know where Tori is now, but I'm not sure how long she'll be in the city either," Andre tells him, sitting down across from Beck at their small circular table.
"Honestly, I don't care. I just hope she leaves soon," Beck sighs and shakes his head.
"Anyway, how was your night?" Andre asks, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively.
"It was sick, man!" Beck answers with excitement,"It turns out the girl I met last night is Cat's roommate."
"Really?" Andre laughs at the coincidence.
"Yeah" Beck drawls out thinking back to just a few hours prior he had her in his arms.
"So, did you guys do it?"
Beck rolls his eyes at Andre's immature phrase, "Yes, we 'did it'...in fact, I think she's the best sex I've ever had."
"Cool, dude. What's she look like? Do you think you'll see her again?" Andre asks.
"She's Cat's roommate so yeah, hopefully. I just got her number from Cat and I told her I'd call her later...she's really cool, her name's Jade."
"Jade..that's a hot name," Andre comments.
"That's what I told her! She's gorgeous. I think Cat might have posted pictures with her on her Slap page, I'll look it up." Beck says, taking out his phone and searching Cat's page.
"Ah! Here's a good one. Well, actually, she looks better in person." Beck smiles as he hands Andre his phone. The picture was a selfie of Jade and Cat. Cat smiling big and bright like always and Jade smirking. Her big blue eyes on full display, drawing you in.
"Yeah, she's definitely hot. Nice job, man," Andre nods his head in approval and gives Beck his phone back.
"So what're your plans for this aft-
"BUZZZZ." The obnoxiously loud doorbell to goes off.
Andre and Beck exchange confused looks at who would want to come over at 7 am. Andre gets up and looks through the peep hole.
Andre turns and mouths "It's Tori" to Beck.
Beck's eyes widen and quickly tells Andre, "I'm- I'm not here! I'm away in Florida or something!" Beck runs out of the living room and into the bathroom.
Beck presses the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger, annoyed at the situation. Couldn't Tori just stay in California?
"Hey, Andre!" Beck cringes as he hears Tori's voice.
"So, where's Beck?" Tori asks with her hands on her hips.
Andre struggles to keep his voice cool and calm as he answers, "Oh, well, he's in Florida."
"If he's in Florida then why did Cat's roommate say she was with him last night?" Andre grimaces and doesn't reply, thus causing Tori to smirk knowing she stumped him.
"Is he here? I just want to talk to him," Tori widens her doe eyes and her voice sounds earnest. "I'm really not here to cause trouble, I swear." Andre finally recognizes his old best friend.
He sighs and calls, "Beck, come out. It's fine."
Beck takes a deep breath and steps out of the bathroom and into his living room. Tori takes a seat on the couch and Beck sits down in the chair adjacent, wanting to leave some distance between them.
"Yes, Tori?"
Tori's feels her heart squeeze. She hadn't seen him in months. It's been tearing her apart ever since they broke up, even though she knew it was inevitable after she slept with her friend.
"Hi, so, uh, how are you doing?" Tori asks politely.
"Fine." Beck answers bluntly. Andre can't handle the tension in the room, so he quietly walks off with his plate of eggs and goes to his bedroom.
"Good, I'm glad. I've...I've missed you," Tori tells him truthfully, looking him directly in the eyes for the first time. Beck ignores the tightening in his stomach.
"Tori, why are you here?" Beck asks, wanting to get right to the point.
"Well, I applied to Julliard last year, when we were still dating and I recently found out I got accepted for the spring semester. I never told you I was applying because I wanted to surprise you if I got in-"
"Then why," Beck takes a deep breath before blurting out a question he isn't sure he wants the answer to. "Why did you sleep with someone else?"
"I," Tori stops, struggling to hold back tears. She should not be the one crying right now.
"I messed up. I really, really missed you and I was at a party and got really drunk. I started hooking up with one of my friends, and before I knew it, I ended up at his place and..."
Beck rolls his eyes, "How did your new boyfriend take it when you told him you were moving to New York?"
"I don't have a boyfriend...what would make you think that?" Tori asks innocently, although she knows what made him think that. On the Slap she set that she was in a relationship with one of her close guy friends as a joke. She changed her status back to single now, but she inwardly smiles knowing that Beck must have been stalking her page.
"Andre read something online last night. But whatever. Why exactly are you at my apartment again?" Beck quickly changes the subject, realizing his mistake.
"I'm, I'm just here to apologize and tell you that I'll be in New York...Beck, I really do regret how things ended between us. It's been killing me ever since." Tori adds.
"You should be. You ruined something great." Tori cringes at the coldness in Beck's voice.
"Now, it's very nice that you came and apologized and good for you for getting into Julliard. However, I would like for you to leave."
Beck sees Tori's eyes fill up with hurt and feels his stomach drop. His arms almost reaches out to hug her out of reflex.
"Listen, I'm sorry. It's just that you really hurt me when you told me you cheated, you know?" Beck's voice softens and he leans closer to her.
"I understand. Thanks for letting me in and hearing me out...I appreciate it," Tori smiles slightly, wishing Beck would just close the gap and wrap her in his arms.
"I'm not moving in until next month, I'm still setting up here and staying in a hotel while I look for an apartment. I hope to see you around though." Tori informs him. Beck bites his bottom lip and nods, standing up with Tori and walking her to the door.
"Nice to see you again, Beck," Tori says walking out while Beck holds the door open.
"Bye Tori."
