A/N: I wanted to get this out to you this afternoon...forewarning: there may be some changes in present and past tense. Whoops.

"So, was there any particular reason that chick was in our apartment?" Jade asks as she sits down to breakfast with Cat.

"Weelllll," Cat drawls before finally answering, "she's Beck's ex-girlfriend and one of my friends since high school, like I said before. She goes to school in California but is coming to Julliard in the spring."

Cat stops talking abruptly and takes a bite of her slightly burnt pancake. Jade reminds her that she never answered her question

"Ohh! Hehe. Well, last night when I was with Andre, you met Andre right?" Jade nods and Cat continues, "We ran into Tori, who was really drunk, at the club and Andre took both of us to his apartment since it was late and I didn't know where you were! Then, I woke up this morning because Beck called. I told him that Tori was looking for him and he said to tell her that he was in Florida! So I did. Then he wanted your number and I gave it to him."

"How sweet. Why was Tori in our apartment?" Jade asks again, getting annoyed with her best friend and the fact that Beck's ex-girlfriend was looking for him.

"Hey, I'm getting there, I'm getting there," Cat said calmly, "I told Tori that Beck wasn't there and then she asked if she could come back to my apartment and hang out for a bit. So she did."

"Oh...that was it?" Jade looks at Cat skeptically. Cat nods happily with her mouth full.

"Did she say why she wanted to see Beck?" Jade asks out of curiosity.

"Nope," Cat replies.

"Why did they break up anyway?" Jade bit her tongue. She shouldn't be so interested in some guy she barely knows.

"She cheated on him about three months ago," Cat answers.

"What a bitch." Jade growls quietly. Seems Beck and I have something in common.

"Yeah...she got pretty mean after high school," Cat sighs sadly but perks up a second later, "At least I didn't though!"

Jade chuckles at Cat's oddness.

"Anyway, how was your night? I can't believe you were with Beck!"

"It was really good. After we left the bar I took him back to our place and we had some...fun."

Cat's eyes widen and Jade can tell just by her facial expression that Cat is bursting with excitement on the inside.

However, Cat's expression drops to one of skepticism when she thinks over Jade's previous statement.

"...What kind of 'fun'?" Cat questions. Jade just smirks and tilts her head at Cat's response.

"Well, was it good 'fun' or bad 'fun'?" Jade purses her lip before replying, "It was really, really good 'fun'."

The girls continue to eat their pancakes until they hear a loud noise coming from Jade's bag.

Jade takes out her phone and sees that she has a text from a random number. Jade immediately grins when she opens it.

"Ooh! What's got you all smiley-wiley?" Cat smiles and squirms in her seat.

"Beck just texted and asked if I wanted to hang out tomorrow." Jade smiles down at her phone then closes it and puts it away without replying.

"Do you?"

"You're quite the curious cat today, Cat," Jade says, knowing that statement will have Cat laughing and distracted for the next five minutes thus saving her from having to answer Cat's question.

2:00 PM

Beck yawns and stretches in his bed as he wakes up from his nap. He feels fresher and more awake. He grabs his phone off his night stand and frowns when he sees that Jade still hasn't replied to his text about having plans tomorrow.

After Tori left this morning, Beck texted Jade, showered then took a nap. Overall, he had a great, relaxing day...except his thoughts still went back to Tori. It doesn't help that he has no idea if Jade even wants to see him again.

Beck rolls his eyes at himself. Of course she'll want to see me again...we had great sex.

Beck thinks back to last night, remembering Jade's legs wrapped around his waist as she sucked on his neck...the way she smiled sexily when she took control once he placed her on the bed...the way her body arched beneath him when she climaxed...

Beck flips over onto his stomach and groans into his pillow. She better say yes to tomorrow. Even if they don't have sex, he still, at the very least, wants to see her again.

4:00 PM

Jade taps her fingers on her desk and tries focus on a screenplay she's been working on. She stares at her phone sitting at the corner of the desk, debating whether or not to answer Beck.

She knows for a fact that she wants to see him tomorrow but...what if Beck realizes he doesn't actually like me?

Stupid insecurities. Jade sits up straight in her desk chair and rolls her shoulders back. Fuck it, she thinks to herself as she picks up her phone and types back "Yes, what time?"

Then she tosses her phone onto her bed and continues to work.

The Next Day, 1:00 PM

Beck stands in Jade's lobby, waiting for her to come downstairs, while also defrosting from being in the cold air. He read online that it was supposed to snow today, something he hadn't been banking on when he made the plans for today. Oh well, if Jade gets too cold while walking it'll give me an excuse to touch her. Beck's face lifts with a small smile at that thought.

Finally, Beck hears a ding from the elevator and Jade steps out, looking hotter than he remembered. Her hair was curled away from her face and she wore thick black eyeliner that made the blue in her eyes stand out. She had on a long sleeved red shirt with a scoop neck that showed off her cleavage nicely along with a long heavy knit black cardigan, black tights and black doc martens.

"So, how were the whole 48 hours of not seeing me?" Jade asks sarcastically as she saunters over to Beck.

Beck runs a hand through his hair and gives her a crooked smile.

"I must say, they pretty much sucked," Beck replies.

"Glad to hear it," Jade says, biting her lip to keep from smiling back.

They stand there, just looking at each other for a minute. Jade takes in Beck's appearance. He's wearing a black and gray striped sweater with dark jeans and has a black beanie in his hand. Not bad, kid, Jade smirks at him.

Another minute passes and Jade realizes how awkward it is that neither of them has said anything.

Clearing her throat she says, "Alright, so was the plan just to stand here all day or are we actually going to do something?"

Beck chuckles and answers, "Yes, we are going to do something. Put your coat on and I'll tell you as we walk."

Jade raises her eyebrows at his command and rolls her eyes.

"I'll put my jacket on when I want to," Jade tells him.

Beck looks at her incredulously and says, "Alright, suit yourself."

Beck and Jade walk out the door and Jade immediately regrets her decision. Beck puts on his beanie and looks over at Jade to see the anger on her face as the cold wind hits her. Beck decides not to say anything just yet.

Jade looks up at Beck as they begin walking down the crowded sidewalk. Normally Jade doesn't like pretty boys, but he seems to be an exception.

Smiling down at her, Beck says, "Alright, I was thinking we'd go to Starbucks first. Do you like coffee?"

"Yes. Coffee is one of the few things I don't hate, actually," Jade replies turning her head away from his. His warm brown eyes practically bore holes into her. Also, she didn't want him to see her shivering from her stupid decision of not putting a coat on. She holds the coat in her hands closer to her body for some warmth.

"Perfect! After, that I thought we'd take a walk through the High Line," Beck says.

"That's quite the tourist trap...have you ever been in the city before?" Jade remarks scoffing at his idea.

"Hey, don't butcher my idea! It's free and it's supposed to snow later so it'll look nice."

Jade is surprised to hear him comment and bite back like that. She feels her respect for him increase. And, as much as she hates to admit it, feels herself liking him even more than she did a night ago.

"Okay then, High Line it is," Jade nods her head and gives him a quick smile before turning her head away again.

1:30 PM

"I'll have a grande coffee. Black with two sugars," Jade tells the barista at Starbucks. The girl behind the counter nods then a bit too eagerly asks Beck what he would like.

"I'll have the same, please," Beck says, giving her a smile as he takes out his wallet and pays.

He wraps an arm over Jade's shoulders and walks them over to the side to wait for their coffee and Jade can't help but think that she feels comforted with his arm around her, reminding her that she's with him. Especially after that stupid barista was poorly attempting to flirt.

After a moment or two Beck grabs their coffees from the counter and leads them to a secluded table by the window.

They sip their coffee in a nice, quiet atmosphere. Beck discreetly studies Jade. Her cheeks are flushed and her hair is a bit messy from the wind but he thinks she looks beautiful. Jade looks out the window, not noticing Beck's eyes watching her.

"So your ex-girlfriend paid Cat and I a visit yesterday morning." Jade says abruptly. She had been debating whether or not to mention it since they sat down but finally decided to just go for it.

Beck grimaces and replies, "She went to your apartment? She wasn't rude, was she?"

"Nah, she just seemed a bit too friendly. Then I mentioned I was out with you and she practically ran out of the apartment. It was strange," Jade answers, then takes a big sip of her scalding coffee, enjoying the feel of her mouth burning.

"Yeah, she came over to my apartment after that," Beck shakes his head at the girl's antics.

"She did? Hm...interesting," Jade raises one eyebrow and looks back out the window. She tries to recall what the girl looked like exactly and could only remember that she looked pretty. Dammit.

"Yeah, she came over, we talked for a little while then...then I kicked her out," Beck tells Jade, hesitating for a second.

"Do you still like her?" Jade asks bluntly. She didn't mean to, but figured it was too late to take it back anyway.

"A little, I mean we dated for almost five years. However, she had, uh, cheated on me a few months back so I ended it. If I'm honest, I'm not completely over her yet, but I'm trying to." Beck nods his head solemnly.

"Well, I'd love to help out with that, if you don't mind," Jade says giving a small smile and leaning her face a little closer to Becks.

"I wouldn't mind at all," Beck winks and kisses Jade on the mouth. Before he could deepen the kiss, Jade leans away again and stands up. Beck gets up with her and wraps an arm around her waist walking towards the door.

"You sure you don't want to put your jacket on now?" Beck asks, before opening the door.

"Of course not. Like I said, I'll put it on when I want to," this time it's really because Jade just doesn't want Beck to have to move his arm away from her to put on her jacket.

They headed out and the sky looked cloudier and a little darker than before. After walking for several blocks Jade just couldn't stand the wind any longer. They stopped right outside the entrance to the High Line and Jade finally put her coat on.

Beck smiled hugely and was about to say something about it but Jade gave him a snarky, daring look as though to say, "do you really want to make a comment?"

Apparently, Beck didn't get the message and cried, "Told ya you'd be cold! Ha, I win!" Beck moves his shoulders in a slightly awkward victory move. Jade immediately slams her foot onto his, making Beck gasp in pain.

"You ready to walk on the High Line now, dear?" Jade chuckles darkly slipping her arm through his.

He shakes his head and Jade whispers into his ear, "I should have told you before. I always win."

Jade gets shivers down her spine and can't help the amused smile that forms when Beck whispers, "Good thing you didn't break my foot or I would have sued."

A few snowflakes begin falling from the sky once they start walking and Jade lifts her face to look up. She then pulls one of the most beautiful smiles Beck has ever seen, throwing him off guard and looking surprised to see her look so happy.

"What? I love the snow," Jade says, only a little embarrassed by the fact that she got overly excited about it. Beck couldn't help himself and walks him and Jade to the side by a railing that overlooked some amazing Manhattan apartments.

"Why'd we stop walking?" Jade questions, looking up at Beck. Beck answers her question by bending his head and kissing her. His arms wound around her waist and her cold hands went to hold his neck.

"You're very pretty, just so you know," Beck says as his forehead leans against Jade's.

Jade laughs quietly and replies, "So are you." She then turns her lips up and the two kiss for a while until Jade pulls away.

"Why don't we keep walking?" Jade suggests, smirking at the boy who's dilated eyes give him away. Beck only smiles back and pulls Jade to his side. He puts his hand under her chin and turns her face up to his to kiss her lips once more before letting go and kissing her temple. The two then continued their walk through.

Every now and then Jade would make a rude comment about the people around them and Beck would chuckle at her judgments. The tipping point happened when the obnoxious 8-year old boy behind them started whining to his mom "that they should have gone to Toys R Us insteeeaaadd". As the kid tried to walk around them, Beck stuck his foot out and tripped the kid. He didn't get hurt but Jade was in hysterics. He smiled, knowing the move was worth it just to hear her laugh.

3:30 PM

"Ah!" Jade gasps happily. The two finally finished their slow saunter through the High Line and it was now beginning to snow harder than before. Beck smiles with Jade and Jade feels happier than she's felt in a long time... and that's when she remembered.

She hates being happy. Why is she letting her guard down suddenly? Especially around a boy. That is always trouble. So, Jade wipes her face clean of emotion and tells Beck that she's hungry.

Beck decides not to make mention of his confusion, (why does she suddenly look sad?) and asks what she'd like to eat.

"Hmm...pizza sounds good," Jade says.

"Alright then, pizza it is." Beck replies and the two start walking down the street again, but this time Beck feels too awkward to put his arm around her.

After two blocks they find a place and although it looks dirty and potentially rat-infested, they enter the small pizzeria. Cheap enough for Beck to afford and oddly cool enough for Jade to enjoy.

The two sat down with their hot pizza slices and ate in silence. When they finish, the pair gets up and walked back outside into the brisk air. The sun already beginning to set although it's only 4:00.

"So, what should we do now?" Jade asks as they stand outside the pizza place.

Before Beck can formulate an answer Jade says, "I'm feeling quite tired actually. Today was awesome Beck." The tone of "goodbye" was clearly laced through her voice. Beck decides that this would be a good place for their date to end.

"I'm glad. So, would you consider this a pretty good first date?" Beck asks with a hopeful smile on his face, reminding Jade of a puppy.

"I would, Beck," Jade replies, her lips turning up in a small smile.

"Hmm, do you predict a second date in your future?" Beck teases.

Jade rolls her eyes and goes to the side of the street to hail for a cab, "Well, if you ask something as stupid as that again then no."

Jade chuckles at her own comment and Beck takes that as a "yes." Jade gets into a cab and Beck wishes her a safe ride home before he goes to find the nearest subway.

8:00 PM

Cat and Jade stare outside their wide picture window that cuts across the middle of the wall in their living room and up to the ceiling. The girls moved their couch to face the window so that they could peacefully watch the snow fall over Manhattan at night. All the lights in their apartment were off, the only thing providing light to the apartment were the buildings around them.

"I've known Beck for a long time and I really wouldn't worry," Cat advises, "He's not at all like him."

Jade wipes a lone tear from her cheek and mumbles, "I know, but I'm just...nervous."

Cat rubs Jade's arm in a comforting manner and the girls continue their quiet discussion until they end up falling asleep on each other.

A/N: Hope you all have a great day/night! I'll try and work on the next chapter as soon as I can! :)
