12:00 pm

Beck (12:00pm): So, what are you up to today? :)

Jade (12:05pm): On a run through central park with Cat. What about you?

Beck (12:05pm): That's quite athletic, wouldn't expect that from you, West.

Jade (12:07pm): Don't expect anything from me, Oliver. BTW your friend Robbie really freaked Cat out last night, tell him thanks for that.

Beck (12:08pm): He didn't mean to, they've liked each other for years. He didn't think it would have caused such a strong reaction. He showed up at my apt at 6 a.m. and has been moping around all morning. He made me make him pancakes while he was dramatically sprawled out on my couch, so tell Cat thanks for that :P.

Jade (12:09pm): HAHA, okay we're even. That kid is weirder than you, which is pretty fucking weird.

Beck (12:10pm): The difference between us is I'm good-looking.

Jade (12:11pm): Just keep telling yourself that, kid...

Beck (12:11pm): Cat told me you think I'm hot.

Jade (12:12pm): Cat just got pushed into the pond.

Beck let out a chuckle and locks his phone.

"What's so funny? Can you make us some lunch soon?" Robbie asks with a smile as he sits upright on the couch with Beck's blanket on his lap.

Beck's expression turns stony and he stands up from his spot in the brown arm chair.

"Robbie, it's time for you to go back to your own apartment," Beck says flinging the blanket off Robbie and pulling his arm to get him to stand up. Robbie huffs, brushes himself off and walks out the door.

...

"I- I will actually throw your phone in the pond if you don't put it away, Jade!" Cat threatens in an uncertain tone. Jade checks to make sure her last text sent and shuts her phone off, showing Cat the black screen.

"Happy now? Also, for the record, I don't appreciate that you told Beck I think he's hot," Jade says, quickening her running pace.

"You would fall if you kept texting while running and I never said that," Cat says, her eyebrows knitting together in concern. Jade's eyes widen with shock.

"Beck just said you did, though!" Jade cries. She feels regret pass through her as she realizes Beck technically has a confirmation that she thinks he's hot.

"Well, I did not tell him that," Cat says, matching Jade's quickening strides, "Why do you care if he knows you think he's a stud? Don't you like him?" Cat winks knowingly.

Jade glares at Cat and opens her mouth but is unable to say anything. Cat's right.

At Jade's non-reply Cat sticks her tongue out and runs a bit ahead of Jade.

Jade catches up to her easily and the two run in silence. Beck's face and body consume Jade's thoughts.

I'm liking Beck much more than I should...crap, Jade thinks, internally groaning.

The silence allows Cat's thoughts to wander. Naturally, they go right back to Robbie, the anger and fear she felt yesterday sneaks its way back, making Cat want to stomp her feet in annoyance.

Why did I say no?!, Cat thinks angrily.

The girls simultaneously pick up their running pace, both trying their best to clear their minds.

4:00 pm

"So whose party are we going to again and do you know if he has a terrace?" Cat asks, walking into Jade's room in a terry-cloth pink bathrobe. Jade sighs, putting her journal down and sitting up in her bed. She pulls her black silk robe closer to her body so she doesn't flash Cat. Following their two hour run, they went to a local market, picked up snacks then came home to shower and get ready for the party.

"Sander Highmore, he's in my theater class. He's a snooty pretentious kid who throws great parties every weekend. I have no idea if he has a terrace, it shouldn't matter though since it's supposed to snow tonight. You'll be wearing a jacket and no one will be going outside," Jade says in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Gotcha," Cat replies, nodding her head, "Alright I'm going to get dressed now..."

"Cat, the party's at 9:00...it's only 4:00 now."

"Oh."

Jade smiles and pats the bed next to her, asking Cat to join her. Jade sets an alarm for 6:00 and the two take a much needed nap.

9:30 pm

"Hey, West," Sander Highmore drawls as he opens the door. Jade throws him a closed-lip grin.

"Hey," Jade replies in her usual bored tone. She watches as his eyes shift. First scanning her black and gray outfit then moving on to examine Cat's red dress.

"This is Cat," Jade said, gesturing to her friend. Cat sticks her hand out to shake Sander's hand but he just opens the door wider, allowing them to enter, then walks away.

"Well isn't he charming," Cat whispers sarcastically.

Jade smirks and says, "Did I forget to mention that he's kind of an ass?"

Rap music blared throughout the apartment. The place was smaller but more modern looking than Jade and Cat's apartment. People stood around with the typical red plastic cups, lightly bobbing to the music while making polite conversation.

Jade and Cat went straight for the drinks table at the back window. Pouring themselves drinks, they then moved to stand at the side of the table to people watch.

Cat's mouth falls open when she notices Sander making the music louder.

"How do his neighbor's deal with the noise every weekend?!"

"It's okay, I'm sure the people in the apartments around him have all moved out by now."

Cat laughs quietly.

The night went on and slowly but surely more people arrived. Jade and Cat, however, were getting increasingly bored.

The pair sipped their drinks in silence as they watched alcohol turn the crowd into rowdy college kids. The lack of conversation let Jade's thoughts drift to Beck and Cat's to Robbie.

Both grunted, this party was meant to take their minds off of boys.

"Hey, let's get drunk," Jade said. Cat nodded. Jade poured herself a cup of vodka and ice while Cat opted for a mix of cherry coke and rum. They clinked cups and chugged it down.

11:30 pm

"Have yousseen Cat?" Jade's words slurred slightly as she asked everyone if they saw Cat.

"No, I don't think he has a cat."

"Yo, what's your name?"

"I don't have a cat. Do you go to Julliard?"

"Nah."

Jade's cool gaze wandered from person to person as they answered her question. Frustrated, she decides to text Cat. Jade grins when she unlocks her phone to see that she has a message.

Beck (9:45pm): Hey, so I finally got Robbie to leave! Woohoo.

Beck's alone...he wants me to come over!

Jade bites the inside of her mouth to stop from smiling too big. She downs the rest of her sixth full cup of Vodka and ice, pours herself another full cup, then pushes her way through people to leave. Once downstairs, she gets in a cab to go downtown.

Jade (11:45pm): In my way

Smirking, Jade leans her head back in content, completely forgetting her missing friend.

...

"ROBBIE SHAPIRO, I AM IN YOUR LOBBY!" Cat yells down her phone. The man working behind the desk gives her a strange look but decides to ignore her, he'd seen weirder teens before; just this afternoon he'd seen an Andy Samburg look-alike wrapped in a blanket enter his lobby.

"You're in my lobby? Cat, are you drunk?" Robbie's voice rang with concern, making Cat smile.

"No, you're drunk! Where are you?" Cat asks while giggling. Robbie tells her his apartment number and Cat gets in the elevator.

Robbie stands outside the elevator doors on the 8th floor, his arms open as Cat runs out and trips in excitement.

"HIII!" Cat yells.

"Shh," Robbie says with a smile. Cat moves her arm to sling around his neck while Robbie's arm wraps around her waist. Cat's giggles are the only sounds in the hallway as he walks them to his cramped apartment.

They enter and Cat takes a seat on his couch. Robbie immediately goes to his kitchen and pours a glass of water. Returning to the couch, he sees Cat has flung her black heels onto the floor and was sitting cross-legged.

"Thank you, Robert," Cat says in a serious tone...well, as serious as drunk Cat can be.

"We must talk. I like you, youlike me. Letsjust be my boyfriend," Cat sways slightly as she speaks. Robbie sits down across from Cat on the couch.

Before Robbie can answer, Cat yawns and lies down, placing her head on Robbie's lap.

Robbie sighs and strokes Cat's hair as she passes out. Robbie so badly wanted her words to be true, but until she's sober he won't be able to address it. All he can do is just take care of her for the night.

12:15 am

Jade stumbles out of the elevator, finishes her seventh drink of the night and tosses the red cup into the elevator as the doors closed.

Once outside Beck's door, she scrunches her black curled hair and pulls down her dark gray tanktop a bit. Jade takes a deep breath and knocks on his door.

I swear if this is Robbie coming back for a midnight snack I will punch him in the face... Beck thinks to himself as he opens the door.

Jade's face lights up when she sees him. He gets hotter everytime...

"Hey, what's up?" Beck says with a big smile. Instead of answering Jade throws her arms around his neck and leans up to kiss him.

After a minute or so, Beck notices a potent smell of alcohol and pulls away.

"Are you drunk?"

"Maybe," Jade takes her arms from around his neck and uses one hand to lean on the couch. "I'mfine, though."

Beck shakes his head and runs his fingers through his hair.

"Here, take a seat on the couch. I'll be right back," Beck leads Jade to sit on the couch. The smile Jade gives him is sweet and beautiful, almost tempting him to kiss her again. Jade huffs when he cups her face with one hand then walks away.

With a cup of water in hand, he returns to Jade.

"My pants are too tiiighhtt," Jade whines slightly as Beck hands her the water and she begins drinking. Jade thrusts her hips into the air, "Beck, take them off!"

"A-are you sure?" Beck asks, his hands moving to the button on her black skinny jeans. Jade throws the empty cup to the side and nods. Beck sighs and struggles to maintain eye contact as he slides her pants off.

Jade grabs his hands and pulls him to her. Kissing him suggestively. Her hands move to the hem of his shirt but Beck grabs them gently and pulls his face away.

"Whoa, whoa. Jade, I'm sorry but I can't. Not when you're this out of it," Beck says, sitting down next to Jade on the couch.

Jade looks at him, her normally stoic face showing a bit of hurt.

"I would love to have sex but it just wouldn't be fair for you."

The hurt turns to surprise and joy. Jade giggles quietly, "Wow...Ryder would never do that..."

"Um, who's Ryder?"

Beck lays down on the couch, pulling Jade next to him, his arm spooning around her waist as the pair lay on their side.

Jade kisses Beck lightly and whispers, "Nobody."

Jade flips over so her back is to Beck's chest and falls asleep. Beck kisses the top of her head and goes to sleep content with Jade in his arms.
