A Dawsey Christmas
Gabby was holding Matt's hand as they walked onto the Christmas market near the lake. It was something they had wanted to attend all month, but now they finally made it late afternoon, Christmas eve. Gabby was smiling as they made their way onto the Christmas market near the pier. There were a ton of stands as well as an ice rink. It wasn't as busy, most people at home on Christmas eve and she was excited to finally make it here.
''Oh Matt, we can get some stuff to decorate the tree with,''
''I have a decorated tree,'' he pointed out. He had wanted to decorate his house, that had become their house, a lot more. But since there had been a few hectic shifts and a busy month, he had not had the chance to buy any more decorations.
She had been staying with him for months now and they were still looking for a house of them together, but it was nice to finally celebrate Christmas together.
''Well it is not very decorated,'' she said as she looked at all the ornaments. The few ornaments that were in his Christmas tree were a hideous shade of blue and she would be glad to swap them around. He didn't say much as she kept on looking at the little stalls. He didn't even argue when she did buy a box with six large red ornaments. It was their first Christmas together and he was enjoying every minute of it. Seeing Gabby so excited, it was the first time he was excited about Christmas as well.
Growing up, Christmas has never been something celebrated in his family and after that, having been on his own, he had never really celebrated it. With Hallie, both of them had often worked during the holidays. This year was the first time he really celebrated it.
Looking as Gabby was running from stand to stand, looking at all the decorations in for in his house, he quietly snuck off to one of the other stands. Looking at the handmade jewelry, it wasn't long before he had picked something out and bought it. He had just enough time to slip into his wallet before Gabby joined him again.
''Hey, look what I got!'' She said excited as she showed him the ornament of a little red firetruck. Smiling, he took it in his hands as he looked at it.
''That is really nice for the tree, I love that,'' he smiled. As they walked over the market, they got closer to the ice rink in the middle of the Christmas market.
''I used to love skating as a child,'' Matt smiled.
''We can go skating,'' she told him. Excited, they rented their skates and made their way towards the icerink.
''Have you skated before?''
''I can skate,'' she assured him as they made their way to the ice. A bit uneasy he put one of his skates on the ice, sliding on the ice then. Although it had been a fair few years, he was soon making his way over the ice as Gabby was still clutching the fence on the side.
Making his way towards her, he held out is hand to help her onto the ice. Holding his hand, she slid onto the ice as they started to skate.
''Careful,'' he warned her as she almost fell over.
Skating around the rink, Matt was a lot quicker than Gabby. But only for a little bit.
''Matt!''
Before he could turn, Gabby skated right into him. As he fell down onto the ice, Gabby slid against one of the fences.
He slid onto the ice, finally coming to a standstill after sliding around for a bit.
''Matt?''
''I am fine,'' He assured her, wanting to take her hand, only to nearly pull her over again as well. Finally they both burst out laughing.
''You should have seen your face,'' she did start to laugh now. He started to laugh as well now, brushing the ice of his jeans as he got back onto his feet, holding the fence.
Gabby was still holding onto the fence as she looked at him, looking concerned and worried.
''I am really sorry Matt,''
''It is fine, really,'' he told her as he moved closer. Laying his arm around her as he kissed her on her temple, he didn't want her to feel sorry.
''Let's get off the ice before one of us ends up hurt,'' she told him and he nodded.
''You have never skated in your life, have you,'' he said as he held her arm as they made their way to towards the little gate to get off the ice,''
''It seemed easy – just wanted to impress you,''
''You impress me every day Gabby, no need to put yourself in harm's way for that,'' he told her as he helped her off the ice. Bringing back their skated and moving to the food stands and the bar instead, they got some mulled wine. Gabby was shivering as she put her hands around the mug, but she knew Matt would be a lot colder as his clothes were wet from falling onto the ice.
Luckily, it had made them laugh as well.
Matt had gotten some paper towels from one of the stands, trying to dry off some of the wet spots on his jeans from the ice.
''I am really sorry-''
''It is fine, really,'' he told her as he laid his arm around her. Sipping on their mulled wines, they smiled at each other, Gabby bursting out laughing again.
''I am sorry, it was so funny,''
Matt laughed as well, just glad they both made it out unscathed and with something new to laugh about.
They decided to go home soon, Matt's clothes soaked from falling into the ice. Walking towards the cab rank, they made their way into one of the nice, warm cars. Driving home, they made their way into Matt's house.
As she was putting everything they had bought away and hung up some of the decorations she had gotten, he was taking a shower to warm up.
The warm water quickly warmed him up and it was almost like he hadn't fallen onto the ice at all.
He walked into the livingroom, only a towel around his waist, Gabby getting changed as well. Before she knew what was happening, Matt pushed her onto the bed, laughing as he climbed on top of her.
''What are you doing,''
''Think it is my turn to push you over now,'' He teased her as he kissed her then. She laughed as he burrowed his face in the crook of her neck, kissing her neck as he made his way up, finally kissing her on her lips.
Teasing him, she tickled him in his side, causing him to jump off of her as she darted to the living room, laughing.
Following her quickly, only just closing the curtains along the way, he quickly caught up with her, his arms around her waist as they fell onto the couch.
Tugging the towel of him, she pushed him down onto his back now as they kept on making out.
''At least you aren't as cold anymore,'' she smiled, groaning then as his hand quickly pulled the little clothes she had on off.
Her hand on his back now as they made out, he lifted her further onto the couch as they made out, their hands trailing each other's body and as if they had not known each other's body for months now, they explored their bodies once more.
Gabby groaned once again as he came into her, trusting quickly as he panted, quickly coming to a climax as her hands trailed his body.
She moaned as well, her nails digging into his neck as her hands have made him there.
Coming to a climax, Matt wanted to grab the wall beside him, only to grab onto the Christmas tree, pushing it over.
Not even minding it, only a few seconds later they assessed the damage, the blue shards all over the floor.
''Fuck,'' he panted as they looked at the fallen over tree, both of them bursting out in laughter again.
''It's good I got some new ornaments,'' she panted as she looked at the carnage. For the second time today, they giggled like teenagers, laughing at their clumsiness for the second time today.
As he was putting the ornaments in the tree she had bought for them, she had started making dinner.
''They look really nice, thank you for getting them,'' Matt said as he walked into the kitchen.
''It is only going to get worse from here Matt, I am going to get more and more decorations every year,'' she warned him and he laughed.
''I don't mind,''
Walking up behind her, he folded his arms around as they looked at the food she was making. They had prepared most of it earlier today, so it wasn't long before they sat down a for a nice Christmas dinner.
Gabby had really done a lot of work earlier today and he was so excited for the three course meal they would be eating tonight. He didn't even want to think about how much food he would be getting tomorrow at her family. After the food, they settled on the couch for a Christmas movie.
Tomorrow they would visit the Dawson's and on boxing day they would see some of the people from the firehouse. But tonight it was just the two of them, and their first Christmas eve together. She laid against him, her hand on his chest as they were swaddled in a bunch of blankets.
''I got you something on the Christmas market as well,''
''Matt, no gifts until tomorrow,'' she groaned
''It is just something for you to remember our first Christmas together,'' He said as he took the little necklace from his pocket, putting git around her neck and kissing her on her head.
''Aww, you shouldn't have,'' she smiled as she looked at the silver necklace, a small blue stone in the middle of the charm.
''Bit of a shame of the tree,'' she smiled as she look at the new slightly crooked but once again decorated tree.
''I like these way more,'' Matt admitted.
Sharing a kiss, they laid in each other's arms, hoping for many more Christmases together.
Merry Christmas! I hope your holidays were amazing and I hope you liked this little oneshot.
