SpringBonnie wakes up feeling different. Weird. Wrong.
He knows exactly why as he looks down. He's sitting in a pool of blood. It's seeping out of every join, every crevice. It's soaked into his fur, turning his golden color dark. He tries to move, to get away from the blood, but his endo shifts oddly, like it's pulling on something. His hands shake as he tries to figure out why and once he sees it, he screams.
No. No, no, no! This can't be happening! Not to him!
He stands up with some difficulty, all too aware of the human inside of him, fused with his springlocks. He takes an unsteady step and falls. The panic forces him to stand up and he holds the wall as he goes this time. He looks at the door and immediately decides that whatever horrors lie out there, it's better than staying in this closet.
If he can get out, then maybe an employee will see him. Maybe they'll see the human inside and call for help. Maybe Henry will finally return and save them all from this hell. Please, someone help them!
The weight isn't right as he tries to walk forward. It's oddly heavy. He tries to ignore it as he finally gets to the door. He goes for the handle, trying to turn it with unusually stiff fingers. A snapping sound comes from his right hand and he's able to move on his own now. He doesn't want to think about why.
The doorknob pulls out of its hole when he tries to twist it. The other side is gone. He throws it down and grabs at the hole this time, trying to get the door open. He tugs and tugs, throwing his whole weight into it. At some point, he hears the door splinter and it swings open, landing him flat on his ass. The human inside jolts too and SpringBonnie has to close his eyes.
It's fine. He'll get out and find Henry. Yeah, that's it. Henry will know what to do. He'll wind up the springlocks and get the human out. Then SpringBonnie won't have to feel so wrong anymore. He just needs to get-
As he opens his eyes, SpringBonnie is met with a brick wall. He stares at it for a long moment, unable to really believe that it's there, but when he crawls forward, too weak to walk anymore, his hand meets the solid wall. He pushes, but it doesn't budge. Doesn't disappear like a dream would. It's covering the entire doorway and likely more. SpringBonnie sits back, his mind blank as he just looks at it.
Then, the realization hits. He's stuck in here.
"No." His voice comes out off, distorted and oddly pitched. "No! Please!" He goes back to the wall, his fists hitting against it desperately. With each impact, the dread builds and builds. He's been cut off from everything else. Everyone else. They locked him away forever.
He tries clawing at any crack he can find, but it does nothing.
"Let me out! Please! Someone hear me!" His voice box vibrates with how loud he's shouting. "Please! Help me! Fredbear! He-" The voice box jolts painfully. He tries to scream again, but nothing comes out.
No! It can't end like this!
This is your fault.
SpringBonnie freezes, his eyes going wide as the voice rings through his mind. Like it's coming from inside of him. And worse, he knows that voice. But it can't be him. He was supposed to be found by the police. The bodies were supposed to show that it was him all along. Why isn't he rotting in jail? Why is he inside of SpringBonnie?!
You malfunctioned and now I'm trapped here. It's your fault.
The animatronic holds his chest, feeling the human begin to move. It's only slight, thanks to the endo, but it's enough. SpringBonnie backs against the far all, his hands trying to get at the flesh inside. He rips out a piece of fabric and reaches in until his hand touches clammy skin.
You can't get me out! There's no way to separate us anymore!
SpringBonnie tries anyway. He grabs at the flesh and pulls it out. He barely the new stream of blood when his entire body begins to shake violently. His hand goes limp and they fall backward, leaning against the wall. Afton's scream echoes through the small room, but it too cuts off eventually, just like SpringBonnie's voice box had.
After a long while, they stop. Their bodies go still and both are too tired to move anymore. It's over. There's no getting away from this anymore.
I guess we'll be together from now on, Old Friend.
Please, someone kill me!
Freddy looks out at the construction site again. It's almost fully filled now and he's glad Roxy will get her raceway back, but a part of him doesn't want them to finish. At least not yet.
They still haven't found Afton. He knows that it might be for the best, given that he's likely buried deep underground now, but Freddy knows it's not that easy. That the roach will somehow crawl his way out and find more people to hurt, regardless of how damaged he is. If they don't find the body, they'll be doomed to return later. Freddy's been in this for so long and he's beyond tired of this little game. He just wants to move on.
He gets antsy from the memories. How many times has he died? How many times did he think he was finally done, when in reality, he was just prolonging it. He was just setting Afton on a detour to his plans.
Freddy walks down to the construction site, careful of the workers still filling up the hole. He goes over to the pile of dirt and looks it over. It's massive and the top almost reaches the ceiling. It would be impossible to sort through it all, but maybe he doesn't have to. If he gets Roxy to look at it, she may be able to spot him, or at least a few pieces. Then they'd be able to dig him out and-
"Freddy?" He turns and makes eye contact with Spring. The animatronic stands next to him, also looking at the pile of dirt. "I didn't expect to see you here too. I thought you'd be with Bonnie."
"No. Bonnie has expressed that he wants to be left alone for now." He brought up Monty and they had their version of an argument. It's really just Bonnie goes quiet and completely avoids the subject, which is concerning, to say the least. Honestly, at this point, Freddy would prefer shouting because at least he would know what Bonnie's thinking. They would be able to work through something.
Spring nods slowly, not prying into their relationship. Freddy appreciates it. "You're paranoid too, then." He changes topics.
Freddy can't deny it. "I am afraid he is still here, waiting for the chance to escape. I do not want to fight him again." It was painful the first time, when he had to watch his father wander around Fazbear Frights like a mindless zombie. But now? Now he's just tired.
"Me too." Spring says, sounding grim as he looks over the dirt. He looks at it for a moment, then kneels down, his fingers sorting through it. Freddy is about to ask him what he intends to do, but then Spring speaks again. "What did Afton look like this time?"
That's a good question, honestly. Freddy wasn't really thinking clearly the whole time he, Bonnie, and Gregory were down there. "All I can remember is a skeleton with rabbit ears." He's glad animatronics don't dream because he would likely have nightmares about losing control of his mind. He remembers the constant fear of hurting the others.
Spring nods slowly as he continues to dig. This time, Freddy's curiosity gets the better of him.
"What are you doing, exactly? If you are looking for his body-"
"I saw something the other day." Spring cuts him off, his voice focused. Freddy stands there in shock for a moment, but then he feels his stomach sink. "At least, I thought I did. But when I looked..." He struggles with something for a moment before pulling up a loose cable. Freddy leans down to get a closer look. It's thicker than the other ones, but it's nothing special.
"It looks like it might have gone to a charging station. Or perhaps a generator." He looks at it a little longer before something comes to mind. "But there is a question I have." Freddy takes it and touches the frayed end where the inner wires are coming out. "It was previously connected to something, but all of the generators worked, as well as the charging station."
Spring looks at it as well, his eyes narrowing. "Do you think it got pulled at some point during extraction?"
Freddy hands it back. He stands up straight again. "It is possible. Perhaps we should ask Roxy to look through the pile with us? Her enhanced vision will let her see any metal pieces. It may not reveal anything, but it is worth a try." He can't imagine how many wires and shards must be in that pile, though. They were digging for days on end, just to get it all out. It may be difficult to see anything at all, even with her special eyes.
The older animatronic stands as well, the fur on his hands now brown with dirt. "You may have a point. It would take forever to dig through this and we don't exactly have permission either." He looks at the crew who are still at work. They're facing away but if they start making a scene, someone is bound to stop them.
It's decided then. They'll get Roxy and ask for permission to look at the pile. Then, if they find Afton, then they can figure out what to do with him. But until then, they will need to wait. He just hopes they aren't too late.
Freddy turns back toward the stairs, his mind lost in ideas of how to convince the construction manager to let them sort through the dirt. As he goes up the steps, he's snapped out of his thoughts by a low rumble. He looks up, now sure if it's his own heater going off, or the world around him. His answer comes when he sees a few of the construction workers looking around as well.
It comes again, stronger this time. Freddy braces himself against the rail of the stairs but his eyes go to the pile he just left. Spring is still in front of it, his eyes going high as the top of it starts raining down toward the bottom.
Freddy's eyes go wide as more wire is exposed near the top. It's the same thick black color as the one he just saw, but has more is uncovered, Freddy realizes that it's moving. He's seen this many times before. The first time was in that underground rental service, before he got killed by Ennard. The second was when he finally found Henry and they were working to bring all of the animatronics together. And the last time was as he ran away from the underground restaurant with Bonnie and Gregory beside him.
It's the amalgamation of past animatronics.
The earth shakes again and this time, Freddy is nearly thrown to the floor. He watches as the dirty floods down like heavy rain, pushing anything in its way backward. Spring is caught in the downfall and he's quickly buried completely. Freddy jumps into action.
"Spring!" He shouts, his metal feet carrying him toward where he last saw the animatronics. He's all too aware of more wires rising up, as well as the rusted Freddy head that comes closer and closer. He starts digging around, hoping to find any sign of his friend, before another voice shouts at him.
"Evacuate the room!" The crew all begin running away from the worksite. Thick wires shoot toward them pushing over heavy machines and it traps a few workers. Freddy feels the urge to go over and help them too, but he can't just leave Spring!
To Freddy's relief, a golden hand rises out from the pile a foot away and Spring comes up like a zombie. He coughs at the dirt lodged in his mouth, but his eyes quickly find Freddy's. "Go get them out! They're humans! We can't let them die!"
"But-"
"Go, Michael!"
Freddy doesn't argue anymore. He stands up and runs to the machines. The wires have pulled back, finding something else to focus on. He uses that to his advantage and slips beside the knocked-over machine. The workers inside push against the closest window, but it doesn't move. "Move over out of the way!" Freddy yells at them and they do just as they're told. With the way cleared, Freddy stomps through the glass and knocks away as many shards as he can before he reaches in and lifts the first worker out.
Once each of them are free, Freddy leads them to the exit where the others are waiting. He doesn't follow them through. "Get help!" He shouts their way. A few of them nod before they slam the doors shut. He hopes they find someone. If this thing gets loose in the MegaPlex, then a lot of people could get hurt.
Freddy turns back to the amalgamation, his feet already carrying him toward it. He stops when he sees it looming over Spring's form. The Freddy head opens and closes quickly, like a predator's jaw. Freddy snaps back to himself quickly and he begins running again, his eyes focused on the golden rabbit. "Spring!" He shouts again, his arm outstretched.
Spring looks back, his eyes wide with fear. He tries to get up, but it's already too late. Freddy watches, almost in slow motion, as the wires shoot out and grab Spring by the leg. It pulls him to the ground and then drags him toward its base. Freddy doesn't stop. He tries to get closer, his voice box rattling as he shouts, but he's too slow.
"Freddy!" Spring cries as he's pulled into the coils of wire. They close around him and soon, the spring rabbit has disappeared completely.
So, this is a lot different from the cuter stuff I had going before, but it's also the first part to the end! Next chapter will be the last one, no matter how long it ends up being. I'll give my final thoughts then!
