THE SWORD OF THE SEA

CHIRON

Earthshaker, Stormbreaker, Father of all Horses. Hail Perseus Jackson, Son of Poseidon.

PERCY

I woke up in cabin 3, the Poseidon cabin. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that only yesterday, I had been claimed by my father. I cleaned up, and putting an orange camp shirt on, pushed the door open to find grey clouds rolling on a stormy sky. Thunder and lightning cackled in the sky; it's lashing tip almost touching the ocean. Well, that's weird. I turned around to look at the sea. Waves crashed against the shore, lapping up dangerously close to the camp barriers. The waves mounted higher and higher as if challenging the sky. There was a suppressed tension in the air, something I knew that was Godlier, than human. I started walking towards the big house to meet Chiron. He had asked me yesterday to talk to him about my quest. I arrived at the big house where Chiron was looking intently at the grey sky.

"Hello Percy", Chiron greeted me. "Hey Chiron, so what did you want to tell me about my quest?". "Not about your quest Percy but something that you need to complete before you embark on your mission to retrieve Zeus' master bolt. "What do I need to complete Chiron?". "Patience Percy, but I am sure you have heard about Heracles?". "I'm pretty sure that the whole of Greek knows who he is to be honest." I shrugged. "Yes, yes, I know that he is a familiar figure in and around Greek Mythology, but have you heard about the Sword he possessed?". "Um…no", I said apologetically. "I thought so. This was a powerful sword that was given to him by a Hesperide, the Nymph of the Evening. Her name was Zoe Nightshade." I processed this for a moment. "What was the name of the sword Chiron?", I asked. "The sword is called, Anaklusmos, which in English translates to-." "Riptide", I said almost instantly. "Precisely. This sword contained the power of the ocean Percy, because Zoe Nightshade's mother, Pleione, was a powerful Ocean nymph. So, Percy, you see, after Heracles finished using his sword, Poseidon claimed it as it was a blade made from the seas. You will have to acquire this sword, Percy, to complete your quest. After you have gained possession of it, you will have to make an important choice, a choice that will either save or destroy Olympus, and it is up to you." I frowned at the idea of using an unbalanced weapon to retrieve a sword and relying on a seaweed encased brain to make an ultimate choice. "Centuries after Poseidon claimed the Sword, Athena discovered an enchanted box with engravings which said,

"The Sword of the Sea,

Handed to thee,

Laborer of the Gods,

By the evening sky,

Creation of the Creator,

Possession of Poseidon's Blood."

"After this discovery Percy, the Gods assembled in the throne when Poseidon entered with the Sword, which was emitting an aura of pure energy." "Years after this, the Gods felt a presence enter New York City. This presence emitted the same aura as that of the Blade. After the arrival of this presence the Blade disappeared from the throne room. And with it disappeared the presence as well." "The Gods had never encountered him but he was above all. The very name which the Gods bowed down to. A name of which the Gods heard very less." "Whose name was it Chiron?", I asked, my curiosity building. "Oh, the name. The name of the very first being in existence. The name of….
