Chapter: 3

Saving Nami's Family

Two long years have now passed by and Shanks, as promised, is now in sight of Foosha village. Luffy and Ace a young boy about two years older than Luffy from the looks who wore an orange tank-top with the kanji phrase of "violence" on the front knee-length shorts and a black elbow guard on his left arm. He is always seen wearing dark brown, flat, slipper-like shoes, are sitting on a cliff and watching the ship approach the village. Luffy and Ace sitting there with a small smile watching the ship as it came to the village.

"Well this is it Lu, you're off with a pirate crew to train," Ace said to Luffy with a small smile on his face hiding the frown.

"No not yet... I still have a promise to keep to a girl before I'm off," Luffy said with a serious face and tone.

"Are you really not going to go with them if they say no to picking up that girl you keep talking about Lu. Ace asked Luffy.

"That girl's name is Nami." Luffy saids to Ace in a slight angered tone

"Sorry sorry, I know Luffy its, Nami… so if they don't let you pick up Nami you won't go with them then?" Ace asked Luffy.

"If Nami is not by my side then i won't go… i really have no clue why i feel that way, but if she's not by my side then i won't be able to focus on training and i know she'll be the only one on my mind nothing else." Luffy said to Ace while standing up.

Ace stood up the same as Luffy. Luffy slowly made his way to where him and his sake brothers lived for a time to the Dadan family. There Luffy said his hopefully goodbyes to the Daden family and Ace. After the goodbyes Luffy started to take off the one place he knows Shanks will be he started to run straight to Party Bar. As he's running to the village he sees Ace take off at the same time running to the cliff making it there just in time to see Luffy running to the village. Luffy seeing Ace on the cliff yells to him, " Don't forget what I showed you... when next we meet. I'll win." Luffy finally makes it to the village after a quick run, everyone in the Party Bar is drinking, and having fun waiting on a now 9-year-old boy to show up so they can set off and start his training. Luffy comes up to the bar and hears everyone having a blast and within a sec he gets a huge smile on his face 'It's been so long but so short at the same time' Luffy said in his head thinking to himself as he just walks into the bar and come quietly up next to Shanks who was talking with Makino without anyone seeing him or hearing him.

"Hey, Shanks I have a favor to ask of you before we start my training," Luffy said in a low serious tone.

Shanks and Makino looked over after being shocked from Luffy's toned voice and turned their heads to look at Luffy. Shanks sees just how serious Luffy is just by the look on his face. Makino stood still shocked from the look on Luffys face.

"What kind of favor Luffy?" Shanks asks in the same low and serious tone as Luffy.

"The kind where if you don't do it i won't be coming with you because I'll have something more important to do then join you guys and train." was all Luffy said. Makino gasped from what Luffy just said to Shanks.

"What the hell Luffy is just forcing me into doing him a favor just to take him with me so I can train him… i just hope it's something i can do.' Shanks thought to himself before answering Luffy.

"I see, then... I guess I have no choice in this matter. What's the favor Luffy?" Shanks said to and asked Luffy with a small smile on his face.

"Well Shanks the favor has more than one part. The first part is that you'll take me to the Conomi Islands then to Cocoyashi Village to pick up a girl there, then you'll take her with us to train her too… She also has all three forms of haki and if we don't take her with us she'll get kidnapped and I WON'T go with you." Luffy said and was about to conditional until Shanks cut him off.

"Wait do you just say that she has all three forms of Haki," Shanks saids in a panic.

"Yep thats what i said Shanks," Luffy said in a joyful tone.

" Luffy why does she get kidnapped?" Shanks asked Luffy

"She gets kidnapped because she is a highly skilled navigator and an extremely talented cartographer. There is a group of fishmen pirates that come to her village and they find out how good she is and kidnap her; they also make the whole Island pay a tax just for living… This is where the second part comes in: she and her sister both watch as the leader kills their mother right in front of them." Luffy tells Shanks.

While Luffy and Shanks were talking with Makino Listening in, the whole time. The crew of the Red Haired Pirates were all still just partying and not paying any attention to Shanks and also still having no clue that Luffy had already made it there.

"Now the second part is about the tax you see when the leader of the pirates kills their mother. It's because she doesn't have the money to pay for all three of them so she pays for her two girls Nami and Nojiko, so I need you to give her enough money to be able to pay for herself and for Nojiko, while Nami will be coming with us to train… oh and that part is not going to change if Nami doesn't come with us then i don't go with you guys. It's an All or nothing deal when it comes to Nami. I need 16,200,000 beli from you; the pirates that go there want 100,000 for every adult and 50,000 for every kid per month. So we'll take Nami with us as of the first part then you'll give them the beli to pay the fishmen... that should cover the 8 years that we'll be training and then 1 extra year just to be safe." Luffy tells Shanks as Makino was still listening the whole time. At first neither one could say a single word. Makino had a face of complete horror from the start of Luffy's story for two reasons, the first being the simple fact that Luffy likes this girl but not really knowing it and the second being what happens to her and what Luffy is willing to do for her. Shanks on the other hand, was a little dumbfounded that Luffy was only asking this simple favor of him but, one thing needed to be known first.

"Luffy just tell me one this can you use any other word for how you feel about this Nami girl," Shanks asked

Luffy stared at Shanks for what seemed forever with both Shanks and Makino looking at Luffy for any signs that showed Luffy knows how he feels about this girl. After only about ten minutes of thinking Luffy spook up, " no i cant all i know is i really like her and if anything ever happened to her i don't know what i would do." Luffy said as he hung his head thinking that Shanks wont do him this favor because of the answer he just gave him.

The whole bar was still having a great time until one of the members of the Red-Haired Pirates looked to his captain Shanks and said, "hey boss how long are we going to wait for Luffy maybe he didn't see us come in to the port" as one of the members of the Red-Haired Pirates said that they all looked at Shanks and then saw a little boy next to him the whole bar all yelled "LUFFY" except for Shanks and Makino. Shanks and Luffy were staring at each other until Shanks spook up again. "Alright Luffy Ill do you this favor but while we train you you'll be helping us out and you better get a bounty higher than what I'm dishing out same goes with your little girlfriend," Shanks said with a big smile on his face not really caring that he's about to lose 20,000,000 just to train two kid. The Pirates stayed there for a couple more hours partying and having a blast until they had to once again set out to the sea.

`...Red-Haired Pirates arrive at Cocoyashi Village…

Luffy runs up to Bell-mère's house with Shanks right behind him trying to rush because they don't really know the exact time of when the Arlong Pirates will show up to the village, All Luffy really knows is that Nami was 10 years old when it happens. Luffy and Shanks make it to the house in time to see that Bell-mère is still alive with Nami and Nojiko.

"I see that you talked Shanks into helping you out then," Bell-mère said to Luffy with a bright smile knowing that her whole family is now going to be safe even if she has to give up Nami to keep her safe.

"More like he gave me no choice in the matter he told me I do this or he doesn't come with me and after I saw him use haki I won't let him just not come with me," Shanks said with a small pout.

"I see so you backed Shanks up into a corner then," Bell-mère said while laughing

"Well, there's no way I'm training with him unless Nami comes too." Luffy states with a big smile.

"Hey where is Nami?" Luffy asked but, just as he was done asking his question Nami came running through the door and jumped at Luffy pulling him in to a warm hug also knocking him to the ground holding Nami in his arms.

Shanks walks up to Bell-mère and hands her a bag and said "Luffy tells me that he already told you the plan so here's the 16,200,000 beli so you two will still live... I know if you die Luffy will kill me along with Arlong so please dont die" Shanks said with a small cuckle.

"That's right he has told me the plan so what does Luffy have to do? I know there's something that you're going to make him do. After all it is 16,200,000 beli you're handing me?" Bell-mère askes Shanks

"Nothing much he just has to get a bounty above what I'm handing you before he's 17 same with Nami but I'm told that she's a year older so before she's 18 noting much when you're with the Red-Haired Pirates," Shanks said back to her.

As Shanks and Bell-mère are talking Luffy and Nami are playing on the ground almost like they havent seen eachother in over ten years.

Luffy, Nami, and Shanks start getting ready to walk to the Red Force. As they were about to start Shanks and Luffy felt someone coming this way, Luffy grabbed Nami and bolted into a bush to hide while Shanks did the same close to them. There they watched as a large, muscular, light blue skinned person walked up with saw-shaped man has long, black hair with a widow's peak reaching down to his shoulders, under a brown ushanka. He has a fin on his nape, surrounded by his hair, and there are gills on both sides of his a tattoo in the shape of a sun sitting on his left side of his chest, while what looks like his own Jolly Roger is on his left has thin, fierce light-blue eyes and a long, angular jaw. With what looked like two of his right hand men the first being the typical martial artist with a dark blue gi with a black belt, and his hair is tied into a straight ponytail. He also has a sun shaped tattoo on the right side of his third man is another muscular, blue skinned person who has thick same tattoo as seen on his leader is on his right shoulder. He wears a beaded necklace, a striped blue vest, dark-brown leather pants, and sandals; the three walk up with a crew of all fishman to Bell-mère.

"That's Arlong and his crew there." Luffy said to Nami

Nami quickly and quietly spun around and hugged Luffy while starting to tear up. " Luffy are they going to be ok?" Nami asked Luffy as she tightened their hug.

"They'll be fine Nami don't worry about it and whatever dose happen just know that

We'll be back to free them in no time at all." Luffy said to a slightly scared Nami.

Shanks slowly made his way to both Luffy and Nami once he made it to them he grabbed both of them and brought them into a tight hug to help them both calm down. Even if Luffy didn't look scared or saddened at all Shanks knows deep down he's slowly getting broken because of what he's seeing.

"Hello there pathated human you may not have heard but this Island is now mine and every one that lives on the island has to pay a tax on their life, the prices are simple 100,000 beli for adults and 50,000 beli for kids. If it's just you and this little girl then it will be 150,000 beli now" Arlong told Bell-mère

Bell-mère went to hand Arlong the beli but instead got slapped down to the ground by Arlong.

"Dont hand me the beli put it in the bag dumb human!" Arlong yelled

Bell-mere looked like she wanted to kill him but remembered what Luffy told her "He'll kill you if you fight back so please for not only your daughters but for me don't fight back just do as he saids for the next 8 years." Bell-mere then puts the beli into a bag that one of Arlongs hunchman had. Hachi then picked up a piece of paper that fell when Bell-mere got slapped and opened it to see what it was. Hachis eyes went wide and hadded the paper to Arlong. Nami who knows what it was at this point was trying her hardest to run and yell at them to give it back that it was hers, but Luffy was holding her back while they while e was crying a little because he had to hold her back and take her from her mother even if they were both ok with it it still hurt doing so, and a lot on the inside just from feeling how sad and mad Nami is with the help of his Observation Haki. Arlong asked who made this and showed Bell-mère the Map made by Nami as a gift before she left with Shanks and Luffy.

"That's my daughters' map you bastard now give it back now" Bell-mere yelled at Arlong

Arlong then pointed to Nojiko and said grab her but before anything could happen Bell-mère ran right in front of Nojiko and told Arlong that it was her other daughter who lives off island, and visits every now and then. Arlong then looks at both Bell-mère and Nojiko while saying take them both we'll wait for this other daughter to show up and then take her as well. Luffy got enraged by that and was about to jump out with Nami until Shanks grabbed them both and kept both of their mouths shut. Just as all of that was happening the whole village came running and shouting to leave them alone, but Arlong didn't like that and told his men to teach them a lesson. The Arlong Pirates then beat the living shit out of them all while Shanks, Luffy and Nami could do nothing but watch as the whole village was beaten half to death and Bell-mere and Nojiko were taken by Arlong. Arlong then told his crew to go to each village and collect his newly embedded tax on life.
