Act 1 - Chapter 2: First Sight
Morning came to Archipelago. The crew started their day with their cargo delivery quest or extermination quest given by a certain merchant. The sky was filled with engines faintly echoing all over the village. Our knight, drowned in peaceful sleep, suddenly felt an unknown weight developed on his body. Plus, It smelt like… smoke? Elsword opened his eyes and saw the color of crimson.
Then it came to realization.
"Elesis?"
"Ughm… 5 more minutes… little bro…" she moaned and snuck in his neck to take a good breath of his smell.
"Elesis.. wake up. I'm still a patient."
"So…?"
She rose up, sat on his lap. Her tight suit was still on that gave Elsword a good close look on her chest, which was developed nicely. She teased him lightly by rubbing her lower body on his laps
"I can make you feel better with a refreshing morning of your big sis."
Elsword blushed. He wanted to run yet he was cornered, unable to move. She was closing the gap between Elsword's and her face inch by inch, their lips were closer to the point they could feel their breath. He couldn't help it, Elesis had been weird toward him ever since they were reunited and she preferred being close to her brother.
Fortunately(?) for Elsword, someone knocked on the door, disturbing Elesis' moment.
"Food's ready. Sorry for my intrusion-"
The moment the door opened, they both turned their heads to the intruder who carried a tray of food. The girl suddenly froze upon seeing the state her patient was, and immediately teleported the tray on the nightstand and herself next to them with a frown.
"What the hell are you doing to him?!"
"What do you think? I just give him a little of my cure and you ruin it."
"And you, don't you just sit there and do what she wants! Have some decency!"
"Oh really. From what I see right now, clearly he enjoys my show."
Their gazes were slowly closing the gap between them to the point that their chest touched each other. Elsword just only sighed and decided to cut their cat fight short.
"Ladies… That's enough. I need to rest here. You can continue your argument once breakfast is done."
Both turned their heads at Elsword. Aisha placed a small table on his bed and food tray on it.
"We made this just for you, Elsword. Make sure you eat them up."
Elsword nodded and started digging in with his functional hand. Surprisingly the food was great in this world.
"Hey, it's not bad. You handle well with the food here."
"Hehe~ isn't Aisha the greatest?" She puffed her chest with pride filled in her voice "Anyway, I better get going to the library. There's a lot of things I wanna read there."
"Leaving so soon?" Elsword asked which Aisha returned with a smile "Unlike you dork, I'm a booksmart and I need more intelligence to be smarter than you. Bye~"
Before he could say something out of annoyance, she teleported herself out of the room.
"I swear that grape head never changes…"
"She's a cheerful one for you, bro." Elesis patted his head "Since you're still incapacitated, you should leave missions in my hands."
"Thank you sis. I should be able to work normally after a day or two since Siero told me not to do anything heavy."
Elesis grinned and had her arm over his neck which made Elsword chuckled. As he finished his breakfast, Elesis brought the tray and left his room, leaving the man alone in his room. He let out a sigh and laid down, resting for now. Recalling what had happened, he had arrested the stubborn bandit who failed to steal El stone, put the stone back to where it was and got pulled to this world along with others where flying ships is a common thing.
This reminded him of Caluso Tribal Village, a lot.
Elesis and Rose arrived at the harbor after seeing Siero about the empty warehouse for them to utilize. They both saw the ships depart and set sail from different directions that amazed how powerful they were to sail throughout the sky. As they walked, they noticed one of the crewmates on a ship that looked familiar and recognized once they were close.
"It's Lyria."
"Rose! Elesis!"
She waved her hand toward both of them and called them to board the ship.
"Welcome to our ship, Grandcypher."
Rose looked around the ship as she learnt that its design was a bit like the 1800s but through her scanner, it has great structure that held well against strong wind. The engine was placed near the rear where she detected highly unknown energy emitting.
"Hey, Lyria. Good to see you again. Where's Gran?"
"He's doing work with Siero now, but I believe he will be back soon. So what are you doing here?"
"We are heading to warehouse after we ask Siero about modifying our new ship."
"New ship? Are you planning a new ship? Can I see it?"
Lyria asked, hoping she could witness Rose crafting a new airship.
"If you can come, I'm sure."
"Who are they?"
Rose and Elesis noticed a little figure floating in the air close to Lyria. It looked a little like a plushie with dragon-shape like but they were not sure.
Data Record: Vyrn – ? – A dragon, bearing unknown power, Gran's friend since childhood.
"You woke up, Vyrn. These are new friends, Rose and Elesis."
"Hi, Vyrn. Um… are you by chance… a lizard-" / "I'm not a lizard! I'm a dragon!"
This shocked both of them, especially Rose as her scanner did tell her that he resembled a lizard more than dragon. Maybe she would have a second check on her theory.
"Sorry, we haven't seen a dragon till now. But I thought the dragon is, you know, bigger than you or the ship."
"You don't have to see a whole dragon that goes on a rampage to be the real deal."
"E heh heh heh…"
Lyria giggled at his usual antics.
"Where's your man, Elsword?"
"Elsword's resting at home for the day. His arm has yet to recover anytime soon."
"Shame… I haven't seen this guy yet. From what Lyria described, he's a formal knight like Lancelot."
Elesis smiled "You will like him. He acts a little dummy but he's a trustworthy guy you can rely on."
While the group was having a pleasant conversation, they heard a loud groan outside the ship. Rose checked it out and found one of her Wind Striker, which had been abandoned, being examined by a brown haired man clad in armor. The device was torned piece by piece and scattered around.
"Man, this thing has a complicated structure."
Data Record: Rackman – 29 – Helmsman of Grandcypher, said to travel through life and death along with Gran's companies.
"What's wrong, Rackam?" Vyrn floated near him.
"Whoever built this, they must be professional."
"Of course that's my device you're tearing."
Rose spoke up, gaining his attention.
"It's yours?"
"One of my masterpieces." Rose jumped down from the ship and landed "It's called Wind Striker, a 2-man mobile hovering device."
"It looks like Nightcypher we used for the race."
Lyria commented as she stared at the pieces.
"Yes, but I have a feeling that Wind Strike lost a piece or something as I found empty space here."
"That's where the core transfers its main power. I create them in case the device is done for, the core is still in use and can be swapped to a new device."
Rose explained.
"Anyway, let's speak once we get to the warehouse. We need to build the ship as fast as possible."
"Ship? Maybe I could lend a hand if you need."
"The more the merrier."
While the women were outside, the red knight took this chance to sneak outside as he felt bored staying at home all alone. Elsword walked on the path made with cobblestones and looked around the village filled with various races. He's amazed by how the people lived in harmony. After a few minutes of walking, he stopped by a bench for a break.
During his break, he noticed a few people that caught his attention. They were a woman and… a girl? They were heading along with other people wearing the same uniform. He assumed they were in an organization.
"We need to enhance the security by her order. Do not make civilians uneasy."
"Roger!"
"Security? Are they working as guards or something?"
He sat there watching as the tall woman unfolded the map which had the overview of Achipelago. The woman there seemed to be leader, judging by how much authority she had over others. And that girl, her sister? They did have resemblance… or just his imagination that the girl's bust was bigger than her big sis…?
Elsword stood up and planned to ask one of the guards, someone beat him to it, with bad intention. He had a clear idea forming on his face and a knife was in his hand. They both were so focusing on the map that they didn't see the man until they heard a loud charge. The guards couldn't respond in time and then…
"?!"
The knight jumped in and knocked the knife off his hand with his sword before finishing him by hitting the side of his sword.
"Something never changes, even in this world."
"Thank you for saving us, young man."
He turned around and saw the girls bow at him.
"I just happen to be at the same time. Don't mention it."
"I haven't seen you here. Do you mind if we have your name?" The short girl asked.
"Elsword, Elsword Sieghart."
"Elsword… Sieghart? Weird name. Your armor and the crest are the first we have seen. No offense. My name is Lecia, and this is Monika."
Data Record: Lecia - 21 - Captain of Fourth Enforcer Crew, daughter of Blue Knight, woman with high responsibility.
Data Record: Monika - Error: Old enough not to be called "Young Lady" - Deputy Captain of Fourth Enforcer Crew, Lecia's trainer and friend.
"None taken. So what happens here?"
"We are having order from captain to dispatch to Achipelago. Intel said there's an unknown phenomenon that is happening here, but I'm not sure. We plan to visit Siero once we sort this thing out."
"I… see…"
Elsword sweatdropped as he knew which one Lecia was mentioning.
"Sieghart-san, what happened to your arm?" Monika asked.
"This? Just an accident that got a crack on my bone, nothing serious though."
While Elsword was talking to Lecia, Monika was keeping her eyes on him. Judging by his appearance and his crest, he's a strange one. She hadn't seen this kind of crest anywhere nor any known military. The way he used his sword, aside from the way he hit the attacker with the side of his sword, he handled it well and swiftly.
"Sieghart-san, I would like you to come with me for a few questions."
"Huh? Something matter?"
"I have a feeling that there's something more coming from your background and I would like to speak in private."
From her tone, Elsword felt Monika was being serious. However, it's like she was treating him as a suspect.
"Sorry, I would love to speak to you but I can't right now."
"That wasn't a request, Sieghart-san. Don't make it harder."
"Look, kid," Elsword said, not noticing the shocked face on Lecia "I appreciate that you are a great knight, but I can't stay here for long-" / "Did you just call me 'kid'?"
Lecia looked back and saw Monika's eyes covered in bangs. She gulped and tried to calm her mentor down.
"Monika, he didn't mean it. He didn't know-" / "Step back, Lecia. I'm gonna give him a piece of my mind for disrespecting woman."
"What-"
Elsword was confused but the moment he sensed her killer intent, he immediately shifted to defensive as the wind started blowing up, as if her emotion could control the wind.
"I'm Not Kid!"
She swung her saber that caused shockwave toward Elsword, who avoided it.
"What the hell?!"
"Haaaa!"
She charged forward and clashed her saber with his sword. Lecia and Enforcer crew stayed behind and waited for her command. Elsword held his sword with his free hand and blocked the incoming attacks from Monika. Her swift attack combined with technique that he barely found any opening to escape. Elsword knocked her saber back and proceeded to cast a strong tornado that forced Monika to fall back.
"For a knight with one arm, you're not bad."
"What kind of technique is that?"
"You will find out if you still resist."
She held her saber upward, fingers on it as lightning channeled.
"Her attack is here…"
Lecia muttered.
"Poor bastard,"
Elsword knew he couldn't avoid this one. Lightning is one of things on his hate list. He held his sword in an attempt to face it as she's about to attack.
"Stop!"
A scream stopped Monika.
"Siero?"
Elsword noticed the young merchant along with Gran and his crew arrived just in time.
"Cease this fight immediately. What's going here?"
After that, he noticed his group was here too. He gulped the moment he saw the glares from the girls that promised pain and suffering if he didn't explain.
"... Is that how a proper lady responded when he called you kid?"
Siero sighed after 5 minutes of hearing the explanation. The Enforcer crew chuckled while Lecia felt embarrassed for her trainer, Monika hid her face behind her hat in attempt to cover her red face, Gran just dryly chuckled and the others shook their heads with the poor red haired knight on his knee. Elsword had a red bump on his head by Aisha's staff for being troublemaker.
"I swear, you cause trouble the moment we leave you behind."
"It's boring at home… You know."
"And you decided to cause trouble to other girls?"
"I'm sorry, ok?"
"Maa Maa… No one's hurt. Stop bullying my little bro." Elesis said and hugged his head, burying his face into her cleavage that caused various reactions from the group.
The girls were fuming, the boys whistled while some were jealous, Lecia and Monika blushed, clearly saw this as shameless act, Siero just went "Fufufu~" and Gran sighed, somehow he saw himself in Elsword's situation. Elsword, on the other hand, was trying to break free before she could suffocate him.
"That's… enough… Why do everyone gather in one place?" Elsword asked.
"About that, I made a request to the Enforcer Crew to reinforce Achipelago. I was planning to have you and your crew introduced to Lecia and Monika… Just not in this situation."
Monika blushed faintly, still thinking about her unprofessional act before. She looked back and forth for a while until she bowed down.
"I'm sorry for attacking you!"
"Eh?"
"As a deputy captain of Fourth Enforcer Crew, I shouldn't let my emotions get the better of me. Please forgive me."
"Um… It's fine… Monika-san? We all make mistakes at least once. I forgive you."
"Really? Ahem… Thank you, Sieghart-san. We haven't introduced ourselves properly. My name is Monika, Deputy of Fourth Enforcer Crew and Lecia's mentor. Please be reminded that I am OLDER than I look like so don't misunderstand."
"My name is Lecia, leader of the Fourth Enforcer Crew."
"Elsword Sieghart, Red Knight of Velder."
"Elesis Sieghart, I'm Flame Lord of Velder and Elsword's sister!"
"Aisha Landar, your cute magical girl~"
"Anna Testarossa, but you can call me Rose for short."
"That's good! Now that everyone knows each other, let's meet up at my place for a break, shall we?"
Siero invited everyone to her KnickKnack Shack for a meal and would then plan for the unknown phenomenon. Little did they know, it was happening in another place.
Somewhere outside Albion Citadel, a large ship departed along with other smaller ones. They were armed with heavily bombarding cannons surrounding the largest ship and heading to Achipelago after receiving request from a merchant.
They were known as The Society, an organization that specialized in dealing primal beasts. Soldiers on board were selected by Drill Sergeant, Ilsa, for their gifted skills in handling beasts that became a threat to the safety and balance of the world. However, as time went, the number of cases became increasingly hard, some were not relating to primal beasts. The organization then formed a non-contractor unit, which was assigned for frontline combat and security. For now the current crew had intel that there were unusual situations occurring on the island.
Ilsa looked through the windows, stared at the blue sky before she sighed.
"I can't believe it. My day off would end so soon just because of it."
"When it comes to primal beasts, we are the only one capable of dealing with it." The big man said.
"Yes, but I still can't forgive this."
"But hey, at least we can see Gran and his crew there. We haven't seen him for months." A blonde woman said.
"... Yes, It's been a while. I wonder how he is now."
Ilsa looked outside again, her mind filled with thoughts of journeys she went through with Gran and the day her fate was sealed into a ring, on her left hand. She let out a soft smile.
"This is Eustace to HQ, radio check."
A voice calling her through the communication radio snapped her back.
"HQ here, report."
"Gran and his crew have reached our client, but he has new companies."
"Who?"
"No clear information. All we have is their names and they are from other dimensions. We cannot confirm that they relate to the abnormal situation we sense."
"Copy, keep your eyes on them."
Ilsa turned off her comm. The situation became interesting to the organization as people coming from different dimensions were big cases, mostly primal beasts. They had one from the moon and that gained big advantages for them to have a new member stationed on it.
"Sergeant, we have company."
One of the members informed Ilsa of the monsters, the flying one.
"All stations, ready your arms. Engage!"
Ilsa ordered and launched counter attack against minor monsters. As the battle went on, the big man noticed a faint presence that caused him uneasy. He looked at the direction where the presence of unknown power he felt and saw something.
"Ilsa, at 12, high."
"What did you see, Vaseraga?"
"A primal beast. Wait, isn't that Tiamat?"
Ilsa took out her telescope and checked it. She frowned, and confirmed that the presence was Tiamat, the Primal Beast of Achipelago. However, something was off. She saw the figure was different from the record. As Ilsa was about to order her crew to aprehen Tiamat, she disappeared, leaving two creatures that were heading their ways to the crew.
"Damn it. They are coming!"
"Leave them to me."
Vaseraga stepped outside and headed to the deck of the ship. He carried a large scythe with him. The crew members noticed him and proceeded to clear the area while hunting any flying monsters that dared approaching him.
Vaseraga held the scythe as his strength emitted heavy killer intent. As they were closer and closer, he jumped off the deck and slashed one of them on the head. He kept the blade slicing it into halves and going for the second ones.
"Canage Moon!"
He swung the blade of scythe, cutting the second creature into pieces. The draph soldier then found something within the body and caught it before he returned to the ship. Vaseraga headed to the bridge and met up with Ilsa.
"Good work out there, Vaseraga."
"Ilsa, you need to see this."
He showed Ilsa a fragment of a crystal that he caught after he eliminated the head of second creature.
"What… is this?"
"No idea. It came out from the beast Tiamat sent out. It looks contaminated. We need to contain it and have the examination team investigate what it is."
"Do it. It may be a clue to the event we faced just now."
Vaseraga nodded and left.
"The Society?"
Siero nodded "It's the second organization I request to support us after the Enforcer as I fear things won't be simple from what Elsword said."
"I see. Any help would be appreciated."
"Anyway, how's the plan for your new ship going?"
"I can give you a short review of that."
Rose took out a blueprint and unrolled to reveal a new design using her bombarding airship as template. To Gran's group, the design was too different from their knowledge, especially Rackam. They listened to Rose's explanation as she detailed the design that combined with the new technology Rackam explained. Rackam noticed the design might have flaws on the wings as they would shatter if it's in the storm, which Rose assured that she had a plan for, but for now all she needed was material to build.
"If you need, I can provide them for you. But the price is not gonna be cheap." Siero said.
"We can cover that with the money we completed your quests, Siero-san."
"That's good to know."
As they spoke, Lyria felt the blue crystal on her chest responding. She focused on it and saw Tiamat's feeling of worriness. She wanted to voice her thoughts but she didn't want to disturb the peaceful environment. Her hand held Gran's sleeve, which attracted his attention and noticed her expression. Knowing her, it would mean something went wrong.
"What wrong?"
He whispered to her.
"It's Tiamat… She's not feeling well. Something's disturbing her."
"You sure?"
"Yes, I can feel her call for help."
"Whatever it is, you should calm her down first. I will inform others the Society arrives."
She nodded. Gran had a feeling that the storm was coming soon.
