AN: I know this was short. I've been trying to get to fics that haven't been updated for a while but it was still a little hard to write having come back after such a long break. Thank you for reading though.

Chapter Forty Seven – The Story of You

47.1

Kuon walked through the LME agency feeling the watchful gazes upon him. He took slow breaths as he listened to the gossip surrounding him. He wanted to think about how he had been before, he wanted to become that smooth Tsuruga Ren character who had surprised everyone with the darkness which he could portray on screen and the smooth coolness that people said was the sign of a mature Japanese gentleman. Instead, people didn't know how to receive him. He was so different from the way he had been perceived before all of this mess happened to him.

He put a hand to his wrist where he was wearing a men's bracelet that Kuu had given him for strength. He knew that his senses were highly triggered and despite there being no gun to pull, he didn't want to put himself in a position where he could murder anyone with a series of kicks and punches.

He had come here to see Lory and to see what could be done for the rest of his life. The police had offered him amnesty for taking down the gang. He was no longer wanted and as far as he knew, he had an image that was dangerous to approach therefore leaving him alone would be best. He was sure that people would attack him or find hitmen for him if he did pose a threat but he was in retirement.

"Aer you okay?" Kyoko asked as she grabbed his hand and squeezed it, the other resting upon her belly. Kuon looked around again and nodded. "Maybe it'd be easier if you thought about the types of roles which you'd like to do."

"Maybe I need to take a break for a while," Kuon sighed as he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply before slowly exhaling. He turned to her again, "Just be in the moment, live within the moment. It's already been a really hard journey. Maybe I just need to appreciate the fact that I'll be a father."

"I think you're going to be a much better father than I'm going to be a mother. I'm not even sure that these two are meeting the milestones for before they're born, maybe there's something I can study or look up about that," Kyoko thought aloud.

Kuon laughed and sighed, "I hope you're eating breakfast," he teased her.

Kyoko's back straightened and she turned to face him, "Of course I'm eating breakfast," she replied before hearing him laughing. "Okay. Funny guy." She shook her head with a smile, at least she had seen him break through that armor which had seemed impenetrable and heard him free himself a little more.

"Wait up," Yashiro yelled as he approached them and Kuon turned. He blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected for his former manager to be there. He also wasn't expecting him to have the same sort of comfort with being around him as he used to. "I'm really glad to see that you're okay, Kuon." He told him and Kuon stopped and sighed.

"I'm not sure if I'm okay but I'm doing the best that I can to survive. I think that I might need to book myself into a psychiatric institute to deal with what happened to me but -"

"There are other options," Kyoko reminded him as she took hold of his wrist and squeezed his hand.

"No one is expecting you to return and be at the top of your game," Yashiro said still with a very relieved smile. He hadn't been thinking that he would ever see Kuon again. Now that he was back and that Kuu was protectively and obsessively talking about how amazing his son was and how they were glad that he had resurfaced safely, it was time to have the world be somewhere where Kuon existed both freely and safely.

"The point is that you've returned," Kyoko echoed and Kuon got to the elevator.

"So we're all going to see the wizard?" he asked as he pressed the call button. He slowly inhaled and exhaled again, he had no idea what was going to be waiting for him up in the president's office but sometimes you just had to close your eyes and jump and believe in what faith could offer you.

Lory looked at Kuon who sat by himself in a chair and then to Yashiro and Kyoko who were seated on the sofa with Kyoko the closest to Kuon. He had some stacks of paperwork in front of him and Kuon's eyes started to drift to them instead of to the man who had taken him in as a second father figure.

"How are you coping?" Lory asked as some tea was set before the four of them. Kuon picked it up and turned the cup in his hand. "I feel as if you survived something that only one of our top writers could devise," he said attempting to bring ease to the conversation but Kuon wasn't feeling that joy in him. He looked ahead at Lory with a blank expression.

"I think that there are some things that I need to deal with before I return to acting but I would like to return to acting," he said and Kyoko smiled. Hopefully he would be able to do that. She really had missed working alongside him and being witness to how he brought each of those characters alive. Kuon sighed and bowed his head. "Do you think that's possible."

"Possible, for you to return to acting?" Lory said before nodding. "Yes, but you're right, the most important thing is that we have you safe and at a point where you are able to come back to us without causing any further damage to your health. Now, you may need to do some interviews and press releases but I want for you to have a psychiatric evaluation and medical evaluation before. I want that to be set up for you after a week or so," he stated.

Yashiro blinked and looked confused, "A week?"

"Kuu-sama," Kyoko explained and Lory nodded. Kyoko shifted a little. She was the mother to Kuon's children and she would be his wife for years to come or until one of them actually died. She knew that she wanted to be seen as the person who knew the most about Kuon but Kuu, Kuu had some special bond that any child would wish their father had for them.

"When Shuuhei gets here I want for you to go with him to be checked up. I know that you have the acting skills to deceive nearly anyone but Shuuhei can be extra perceptive and he'll want to know that his son is doing the best he can do. If Shuuhei says that you're fine then we can set up the press releases at that time and the conferences."

"Okay," Kuon nodded and bowed his head. He allowed himself to count his breaths before his eyes glazed over the numerous documents on the table. He could see his name on a lot of them but there were too many pieces and the writing was too small for any single piece to grab and maintain his attention. "Are these about the press conferences or are they about doctors which you'd like me to see…or"

"It might be a little too early to say this to you yet but there's been a lot of interest in doing a new biofilm about you," Lory said and Kuon looked at the papers. "People wanting to write your story. People wanting to do films and dramas focusing on what kind of a life you've had. I had all of them stopped with a cease and desist warning but I wanted to bring them to your attention. How do you feel about them?"

Kuon stared at the documents before turning pale and looked at Lory. "I'll read through them because I feel that it's necessary to find out what they think of me, how the public opinion has changed when it comes to me but no. They're not going to be the ones telling my story. I want to tell it and yes, it might take me some time and take me through some painful memories which I might not want to relive but that's the only way that it can come out accurately."

Kuon bowed his head, "I first have to figure things out for myself but then maybe when I am ready to tell my story, I can work with one of these producers or directors and have it told." Kuon sighed and looked down as the pain pulsed on his face. "I'm not against having them known. I have to live my life and be proud to be the person at the other side of it but I'm not going to have it told in the wrong way."

Lory nodded. He put a hand on Kuon's wrist and hummed as he felt him flinch. Lory studied the man in front of him wondering how much of this was an act or how much pain he had forced himself through to seem normal and seem unaffected. He wanted to get Kuu here and have them both convince Kuon that he didn't have to try to be the strongest person in the room.

"Let's work towards what to say in these interviews," he suggested and Kuon nodded. He closed his eyes and stood. Everyone watched as he walked to the window of the building and stared out of it. His eyes cast a painful shadow of someone who had just returned from a long trip and now, more than anything else, just needed to rest.

Kuon looked at them before thinking aloud, "I wonder how it would be to really fly."
