AN: I'm trying to find a way of breaking the scenes up within the chapters so might be trying different things. If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to hearing them

I am also hoping that this can become a fic I can update at least every two days whilst starting to work on other fics so thank you for returning to read Chapter Two. I really hope you enjoy it. The pregnancy isn't going to be kept from Adam in this change but it may be kept from everyone outside the castle.

Chapter Two

Adam tried to stretch as he woke up but he felt that he was in a cramped room. He blinked as he tried to figure out what had happened. Had he gotten ill, went to some other room or place in the castle. He tried to breathe but his much larger jaw felt heavy on him. He blinked as he tried to look out and saw the brown furry paw where his hand had been. He clenched and unclenched the paw and saw his own claws.

No. No. No. This couldn't be happening. This couldn't be happening.

"It's rather disgusting isn't it, one of those freak show creatures," a woman he had come to know as an aristocrat said and he tried to turn over but as he moved he realized he wasn't in a room at all but a cage. He tried to slow his breathing, his eyes darting everywhere in fear. There were people he had made pacts and agreements with who only looked at him as if he were an animal.

"That creature needs to be destroyed," he heard another man say and then heard laughter. He spun around, hitting his horn on the top of the cage. He had to find her. He had to…he froze as he saw Belle with Gaston's arm around her. She looked at him as if he were some revolting mutated rat, something that one would want to kill. He hadn't seen that look of disgust from her before especially focused on him.

"Please kill that vermin," she said and he saw Gaston pick up a gun as Belle laughed again.

"Nobody wants it alive," she said before Adam felt a deep pain to his chest again. "Breathe," she said and he blinked, "Breathe. Breathe."

"Adam," Belle said as she sat with a damp cloth against his chest, she had put some more of the ointment on it that was supposed to help with the airflow from and to his lungs. "Breathe. I…I'll aler-" she said before feeling Adam reach to her. He smiled weakly and looked at his hand. He turned it over as he saw that though his skin was pale, he was still human.

"Belle," he said as he saw her instantly come to him and caress his cheek before getting him some more water to drink. "You're here."

"Of course I'm here," she told him as she tried to hold back a few tears. "You're ill, you need someone to watch over you. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." She saw the way he was looking at her and the fear in his eyes. She softly leaned forwards to kiss his lips despite the fact that his teeth hadn't changed back. "Now, try to get some rest."

"I…the dream…" Adam said as he reached out for her hand. Belle took it and squeezed it, bringing it to her lips. "I'm sorry."

"It was just a dream," she tried to comfort him. "Sometimes I have bad dreams too but it always makes me feel better now that I have you. I usually carry a book with me for purposes like this when I don't feel my best. Reading really helps calm me down," she hummed as she started to get up and Adam reached for her again.

"You would choose me, right?" he asked and Belle looked at him. He seemed so vulnerable as he asked her this. Would she choose him? In a heartbeat, without a moment's thought. The only way in which she wouldn't choose him were if her father were ill and alone and he was healthy and strong. Then it would be Adam telling her to go without thinking of it even being a matter for consideration.

"Always," she promised him.

"Even if….even if my teeth are only the beginning?" he asked and saw sadness in his princess's eyes, she nodded. "Over -"

"Over anyone," she promised him. "Before you transformed back, I had already chosen you. It wouldn't matter if they considered me an outcast, I already was considered such but I would have happily spent the rest of my life with you in that castle. Adam, you might have been angry and stern and selfish before but you changed and you've changed so much since then. No matter what it took, I would have loved to be with you and I will always love being by your side, no matter the form you're in."

Belle placed a hand over his mouth before he could speak and she helped him to sit up, using the pillows to prop him up a little. "Listen," she sighed and sat down at the side of the bed. "I have listened to other men of high rank," she said and Adam slowly drank the water, nervously running his tongue over the more animalistic teeth. "Most men will talk about their wives looks, their best physical traits, the way that they can cook or sew or take care of their children. Some men consider their wives objects and the wives are dutiful in following their husband's orders. You are one of only a few men who talk about women as if they are valuable in things other than their duties and their looks. You often talk about my intelligence and my love of reading and I know you speak fondly of those things. I know that you wouldn't be angry with me were I to bear you a daughter," she said as Adam watched her. "Even though most men would prefer to have a son."

"Belle…" Adam said softly, "Any child that you bore would be a gift to me. A part of the two of us in human form. Why would I care about the gender of the child when it is the fact that they live and exist that matters most."

"See," Belle smiled. "You respect me and love me and that doesn't change because you have a tail and horns. I love you and you love me. You ask nothing more of me than for me to freely be myself. How could I love you less?"

"And if my teeth aren't the last of it, if they want to kill me, cage me -" Adam said as he frowned, the dream haunting him much more than he wanted to let it.

"Then they have to get through me first," Belle said with a firm expression on her face. "Now, get some rest. I know that you'd prefer to be at home tomorrow night," she said and Adam nodded. He lay back down and attempted to sleep but he did worry about his teeth, it seemed a very ominous warning of what might come.

After having seen the doctor at his own castle, Adam kept staring at himself in the mirror. He could see the change in his teeth, that was evident, but none of the rest of his body had changed. He kept placing a hand to his backside as he stood there naked near the bathtub. No tail. He could see that he was more pale and his body was under more stress but that was to be expected. He looked the same as he had before the trip if you took away his mouth.

Hearing a knock on the door of the bathroom, he grabbed to a robe and patted down the top of his head, running his fingers through his loose long hair again. He went to the doorway and was surprised to see Lumiere there. He sighed as he looked at his old friend. "You see any horns?" he asked as he tried to look himself in the mirror.

Adam froze, his eyes widening suddenly as he turned to the other man. "You're okay, right?" he asked, his concern changing immediately. "No wax? Flames? Fever? You're not -"

"I'm not turning into a candelabra, if that's what you're asking," Lumiere said and smiled as he saw the huge relief that Adam was showing. "Would that affect you more if I did?" he asked and Adam nodded, the guilt in his eyes.

"The curse was meant to affect me, the conditions were about my ability to love, I would hate for you to become involved in it again," he said before pushing a hand through his hair again. "Please inform me if anything does happen or you're worried or wake up with wax on your pillow or anything, please?"

"Well I see no horns," Lumiere replied and Adam smiled though he sat down shaking. Belle had asked to talk to the doctor afterwards and even though the doctor had been personally employed by the castle and had also been turned into an object, a statue of a human boy, and did know about the anatomy of Adam's beast form, he was worried there was something that he was not being told.

"Is Belle still talking to the doctor?" he asked and Lumiere nodded. "So, you don't see any difference."

"Other than that mighty jaw of yours, no," Lumiere said as Adam rubbed the side of his jaw with his hand. "You are aware that she fell in love with you when you weren't human, she's not going to fall out of love with you if -"

Adam's eyes widened as he stared at the castle maire 'd, "You think it's more likely I'm going to turn into that again?" he asked as he started to go into a panic and Lumiere placed a hand on Adam's shoulder.

"We don't know what will happen in the future but we do know that we are with you, we support you, all of us, we won't let you fall into the darkness again no matter what happens," he promised him and Adam smiled. "Now, I would put some clothes on and go see your wife," he said before Adam nodded with a grateful smile and watched his old companion leave. He ran his finger over his mouth again. No wax. That was much better than no horns.

Adam looked at Belle who was sitting over by the window. He was wearing looser pants than usual and a loose white shirt with his hair down looking far more casual than he liked to present himself. However, seeing Belle sitting by the window and looking out at the night sky made him feel a little scared on the approach. "My love," he said before seeing her turn to him and smile. "Are you okay? Is everything?"

"I've got some good news," Belle hummed and Adam blinked surprised but his expression softened. As long as she was okay and happy then the rest didn't matter. If she was sad then it didn't matter what he looked like or how he appeared, her being safe and content was what he wanted.

"Good news?" he asked gently. "Well, if it's good news then that's okay," he told her. He reached out to hold her but looked at his hands again to make sure that they hadn't turned into claws without him recognizing that. He smiled in relief as he managed to hold her. He was about to kiss her forehead but after thinking about his teeth, he just let his forehead touch hers.

"Adam," Belle whispered as she took his hand in hers and guided it to her belly. She looked at him with a smile "Can you guess the surprise?" she asked and Adam looked at his hand and then took a step backward to look into her eyes. He blinked before seeing her grinning up to him.

"Really?" he asked with that spark of excitement and joy in his eyes that made him look so adorable no matter what form he had taken on. "You're happy, right?"

"Of course I'm happy," Belle replied as she grinned at him. "It's our child, our baby," she said with so much love in her eyes. Adam turned to her, watching her in wonder. He held her again but as he had her close and secure in his arms, he looked out into the open space in the castle room and imagined a tiny baby there and himself in the form he had three years before. A tiny baby with that kind of a monster near them. He couldn't put his family in danger like that. What if his claw accidentally scratched the baby or he hadn't been prepared for his strength and had hurt his son or daughter? He paled again as if seeing a painful warning of the future to come.

Belle took a step back and looked to him, seeing the way he was staring out into the darkness paralyzed. "Adam?" she whispered. "You're happy, right?"

"More than happy," he told her and Belle hummed. Something was wrong with him. Something had been wrong with everything since they had discovered that Gaston was actually alive. She put her hands to his cheeks and leaned up to kiss his mouth. Yes, his teeth felt different now but he was here with her, they were together. Wasn't that enough for the two of them?
