Hachi Academy ground floor, west part

To make sure Hamato cannot flee, the ten shinobi have decided to split themselves into groups of two, Yomi and Hikahe were about to take the staires to go on the first floor when they've been interrupted.

"Yû…"

Yomi says in a low but angry voice.

Yû is facing them, her club in her right hand, surrounded by her four dogs, determined not to let them pass.

Yomi and Hikage don't like Yû, especially Yomi, but she still wants to explain their motivations.

"Listen, I know we aren't friends, and we will probably never be, but…"

Yomi starts, but Yû quickly stops her.

"You want to kill master Hamato, I'll kill you for that, it's my duty, it's all we need to know."

Yû claims, slowly walking in her enemies' direction.

Yomi was expecting Yû not being open to dialogues, but she refuses to give up that easily.

"Yû! Your master very likely has bad intentions! Regarding us, good shinobi, you…"

Yomi starts, but Yû is still coming close.

"Or you, and your dogs…"

Those last words make Yû stop.

By seeing that, Yomi quickly resumes her explanations.

"Indeed, he orders you to attack without any reason good shinobi, and thus without any explanations… You cannot just follow him like that! Can you imagine the consequences if a war starts between the two factions?"

Yomi asks.

Yû doesn't react at all, and her face doesn't even change a little.

"I don't give a damn."

Yû claims, shocking both Yomi and Hikage.

"W-What do you mean?!"

Yomi asks with furious eyes.

"A war between shinobi only hurts shinobi, it's our duty to kill each other, nothing important so."

Yû says in a monotone voice.

Yomi feels it again, this anger toward Yû and her lack of empathy.

"You're wrong! That's not the reason we became shinobi! Shinobi must also protect! Also, normal people, such as the normal students there, can be hurt too!"

Yomu yells, but Yû doesn't react.

"You were speaking about duty, but as an elite student, shouldn't be your role to protect the students weaker than you?!"

Yomi adds.

This time, Yomi gets a reaction from Yû, who looks a little concerned.

But Yomi is still angry.

"Answer…"

Yomi orders, without getting anything from Yû.

"ANSWER!"

She screams, astonishing Yû and Hikage.

Yû, after a moment of reflexion, gives an answer.

"They don't need me…"

She claims, confusing both Yomi and Hikage.

"What?"

Yomi asks.

"I've never needed any help from a person in my entire shinobi carrier, I was way weaker than most of the shinobi students coming here for the first time. I've become who I currently am all by myself, only helped by the dogs I trained myself, what I did, anybody could do."

Yû explains.

"As I said, they're just shinobi, humans, if they die, too bad, if they survive, good. You know the dictum, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Hikage is irritated by Yû's way of thinking, for Yomi, it's even worst.

"HOW CAN YOU SAY SUCH HORRIBLE THINGS?! WHAY ARE YOU SO… DESCIPABLE?!"

Yomi screams with her whole soul, scaring Hikage and shocking Yû.

The dog shinobi looks at the ground, hesitating again.

"..."

After an endless waiting, Yû finally raises her head and looks at Yomi's eyes.

"You really want to know? Alright, I guess I can lose time for a favour…"

Yû says in a contemptuous voice.

"I was born in the south of Italy, in a pretty poor large family. I was the youngest, but also the less loved, I never understood the reason…"

Yû starts, Yomi was right about her origin.

"I grew up alone and friendless, nobody really paid attention to me, which actually was a good thing… In my teen, I became very attractive toward people, especially boys… Not really well-intentioned."

Yomi and Hikage don't really doubt, they have to admit Yû is a very pretty woman despite her sloppy look.

"One day, while I was alone in the street, a group of boys tried to seduce me. It wasn't the first time it happened to me, and not the first time I met insisting boys, but those didn't really appreciate being rejected… So, they started hitting me, of course, at this time, I didn't know how to defend myself, and the few people that saw me didn't really care…"

Hikage already saw that kind of scene, but never had to endure it personally.

"I was afraid, afraid to die… Then, I heard a strange noise… Groaning. It was a stray dog, a Labrador, who looks so threatening you could though it was enraged. But actually, it just decided to help me, and before those guys could do anything, it was already biting the crotch of one of them, who screamed until he lost his voice."

Yomi and Hikage now understand the love Yû has for dogs.

"I must admit I really enjoyed seeing that, those guys ran like cowards and the dogs stayed in my side until I could stand up, of course, I thanked it and gave it a lot of petting for what it did…"

Yû says it by smiling, first time Yomi and Hikage see it.

"When it came back in its alley, I decided to come back the morning to give it some food, and why not adopt it… But I couldn't…"

Under those words, Yû's face is becoming sinister.

"Why?"

Hikage demands by reflex.

"Because it had been taken…"

Yû answers.

"B-By who?"

Yomi asks.

"The dogcatchers… it saved my life, but for those people, it was just a dangerous dog… They caught it… And immediatly killed it…"

Yû explains, her face full of hatred.

"They killed the first living being that actually cared bout me… Those bastards… And EVERYBODY agreed with that, even if I explained to them what happened to me… I definitely understood they were all rotten when one of them told me something…"

Yû starts, the face more and more consumed by the rage, which is starting to scare Yomi, but also Hikage.

"W-What?"

Yomi hesitatingly asks.

"That it was just a dog, nothing important…"

Yû says, her anger turns into a threatening aura that makes the building ground quacking.

"I decided to apply this logic to humans, who really are of no value! If they have to die like pieces of shit, fuck them!"

Yû yells, which is very rare of her.

Yomi and Hikage aren't sure, they now feel bad regarding Yû, but they also feel fear, and also hatred toward her actions.

Yomi is confused…

But Hikage is even more, it's already hard for her to understand people's emotions, this situation is like a million of pieces puzzle for her.

"So illogical… Why emotions can't be simpler…"

Hikage thinks, the contradiction between her different feelings gives her a headache.

However, she remembers the word "contradiciton" is always linked to emotions, maybe it's the key.

Hikage thinks for a moment, and thus despite the threatening aura of Yû, who can charge them anytime.

And suddenly, Hikage thinks she realized something about Yû, something strange.

"Yû, you must make a choice…"

Hikage claims, surprising both Yomi and Yû.

"What you mean?"

Yû asks, the confusion seems to calm her down a little.

"You love dogs, but hate people… You're full of love and hatred… Doesn't seem nice…"

Hikage explains.

Yomi is surprised, but she understands more than anyone could Hikage's words.

"She is right, Yû, I also feel that in the past, it almost broke me… I choose to abandon my hatred, what is your choice?"

Yomi asks, her voice doesn't sound angry anymore, only remains her usual kindness.

Yû is confused, a feeling she hasn't felt for long, very long.

Her four dogs apparently feel her confusion, they all look very worried toward their mistress.

Making such an important choice is also something Yû isn't used to, and thus since her young age, when she abandoned people.

"Being loving toward everyone or hateful toward everyone…"

Yû says, her voice sounds hesitating.

"Yes, you're a human, you only have one heart, you must…"

Yomi starts, but Yû stops her.

"I've already made my choice…"

Yû claims, taking her former comrades' curiosity.

"Which one?"

Yomi asks.

"To obey my master, and dispose of you."

Yû claims, proudly brandishing her club.

"My soul will burn to snatch victory!"

Yû yells, rushing Yomi and Hikage, who are ready to receive their opponent.

"Yomi, ready for the fight!"

"Hikage, ready for the fight."
