~~~Chapter Twelve~~~

~~~Previous~~~

"Now, I have to get back to the classroom. Otherwise, Natsumi-san will suspect something." Usagi says happily before walking back inside.

I follow after her and wait outside the classroom for Usagi to finish. It isn't long before I hear Usagi cheering. "I did it! I finished!"

"Really?" Natsumi questions.

"Oh? Natsumi-san, when did you…" Usagi trails off confused.

"I just finished, too." Natsumi states. "Once I started working seriously, this was nothing."

Mako-chan and Ami-chan walk over and they open the classroom door. "Come on, Usagi-chan, let's go home!"

"I know you worked hard!" Ami-chan praises.

Usagi turns to look at us. "Oh, thanks!" She looks at Natsumi. "Well, Natsumi-san, I think we're even this time!"

"I guess so." Natsumi agrees.

"All right! Bye!" Usagi says happily before running towards us and we all leave the school and we head home.

Before I head to bed I open my pocket space. I take out all of the white roses and place them with the bouquet of them I also notice that in my pocket space I still have my star locket and my moon stick.

Usagi doesn't seem to have her moon stick anymore. Though her star locket is inside her draw. I place them back in my pocket space before falling asleep. Today was tiring.

~~~Present~~~

I change into a long thick light pink jumper that reaches my thighs, black pair of knee socks, and a black choker with a bell and a pair of black flats. Usagi is wearing a blue long-sleeved top with a white collar and white skirt, yellow socks and blue shoes.

I meet Usagi at the door and we leave the house. I had to leave Usagi for a bit, so I went in the opposite direction that she went in. I headed over to the garden shop. I feel like doing some planting.

I get different types such as flowers, fruit, herb, and vegetable seeds. I enjoy gardening even if I was forced to do it in my second life, I enjoy working in Usagi's and my garden in our first life.

I catch up with Usagi to see Natsumi once again hanging on Mamoru and Usagi is sitting at a table with Seijouro-san.

"Onii-sama, I didn't know you had a date with Tsukino-san. I thought you were going to the library today!" Natsumi comments.

Seijouro-san points at Natsumi-san. "You said you were going to study at a friend's house!"

We all go our separate ways.

~~~3rd POV~~~

"Wait, Natsumi! Is he so attractive to you?!" Eiru demands.

"How about you, Eiru?" She demands back.

They glare at each other before heading inside and checking on the Doom Tree in their true forms. The Doom Tree has wilted and isn't full of energy anymore.

"Why is this suddenly…" She trails off.

"This can't be happening." Eiru denies.

"It's because you're chasing Tsukino-san all the time." An states.

"You're in no position to criticize me!" Eiru points out.

She lets out a sigh and lowers her head. "If the Doom Tree dies, we won't be able to get more energy."

"It seems the only solution is to give it more energy. A lot more energy." Eiru comments.

~~~Selena's POV~~~

Usagi and I come across a banner saying that there is a Sailor Moon and Sailor Celestia show.

"A Sailor Moon and Sailor Celestia Show! I'm such a celebrity now!" Usagi exclaims happily.

Luna sweatdrops. "It's probably just a comedy show anyway."

"Luna!" Usagi warns.

We go inside. We are surprised by what we see, however. "What? What is this?" Usagi exclaims surprised.

Everyone is collapsed on the ground. "Her energy has been stolen! And unlike before, almost all of her energy has been taken!" Luna comments.

Usagi lets out a gasp. "Oh, they got Naru-chan again!"

I check and see that my choker is working, and her energy hasn't been drained but she is unconscious.

~~~3rd POV~~~

Energy is scattered over the Doom Tree, but nothing happens, nothing at all.

"Something is wrong, it's not reacting. Something is obviously different from before; I hope it's not." Eiru says.

"What?" An questions.

"I'm starting to wonder; maybe the Doom Tree isn't suited for Earth." Eiru comments.

"It can't be!" She denies.

"What should we do now?" Eiru queries.

The Cardian appears in front of them. "Yamandakka." Her face changed to an unhappy one.

~~~Selena's POV~~~

~~~Next Day at School~~~

"Umino-kun, Osaka-san and Ginga-san are absent today?" Ms Haruna questions.

Usagi appears near Ms Haruna's desk. "Her onii-san, Ginga Seijouro-san is apparently also absent."

"Oh, how did you know, Tsukino-san?" Ms Haruna asks.

Usagi lets out a laugh. "Well, I have this information network."

~~~After School~~~

Ami-chan and Mako-chan are walking from school with us. "Why do we have to go see them with you?" Mako-chan asks.

"Calm down. It's one of those social things, you know?" Usagi points out.

"By the way, are Naru-chan and Umino-kun okay?" Ami-chan questions.

"Yeah. But they had so much of their energy taken this time that it looks like it'll take a while for them to recover." I say softly.

"The enemy seems to be behaving differently than before." Ami-chan points out.

"Do you think so?" Usagi says before we look at the building in front of us. The Juban Odyssey apartments.

Usagi rings the doorbell. "Hello!"

Seijouro opens the door. "Oh! Usagi-san! Glad to see you!"

Usagi points at Seijouro and Natsumi. "Oh, matching outfits! That's weird for a brother and sister!"

"It's true; you look like lovers." Mako-chan agrees.

Seijouro lets out a laugh. "Really? We lost our parents when we were young, so maybe our bond is stronger than normal siblings."

"I didn't know that," Usagi admits.

"So, what brings you here?" Natsumi asks. "It's impolite to just stop by."

"How can you say that?! Usagi-chan was worried about you guys!" Mako-chan says angrily.

"Mako-chan!" Ami-chan scolds.

"But, you know?! Usagi-chan, doesn't it make you mad?" Mako-chan questions.

Usagi nods her head silently.

"Since you are here, why not come inside and have something to drink?" Seijouro offers.

"Onii-sama!" Natsumi says annoyed.

He ignores her and opens the door wider. "Please, come in."

Seijouro goes into the kitchen while we follow Natsumi into their living room. Ami-chan, Mako-chan and I sit on the chair while Usagi leans on the back of the same chair we are sitting on.

"Why didn't you come to school?" Usagi asks.

"Why? Does it matter?" Natsumi asks.

"It does matter. Because everyone was worried about you." Usagi points out.

"Worried? Why's that?" Natsumi questions confused.

Usagi rests her head on the back of the chair. "Why? Because we're friends! 'Did she get hurt?' or 'Is she suffering from a cold?' You know, that kind of stuff!"

"That's right." Mako-chan agrees.

"If you don't come to school, you will be behind in your studies, too," Ami-chan adds.

"I don't get it. Anyway, no matter what happens to me, it has nothing to do with you guys." Natsumi points out.

Mako-chan stands up. "That's enough! Let's go home!"

"Hey, is this your study room?" Usagi asks pointing at a door. The door begins to open. "Oh, it has an automatic door!"

"Y-You can't!" Seijouro says, shutting the doors. "It's really messy. It's not a place we can show you!"

"Then, you should ask Mako-chan for help! She's really great at cleaning! Right, Mako-chan?" Usagi comments.

There is silence before Natsumi breaks it. "That's not necessary! Anyway, you're annoying us, so please go home!" She holds out Usagi's bag. Usagi takes them. "Go on, go on!"

"Usagi-chan, let's go home! Come on, hurry!" Mako-chan says.

"Then, see you!" Usagi says.

"Oh, Usagi-san, how about a drink?" Seijouro offers.

"Maybe next time," Usagi calls back with a laugh.

We leave and head home.

~~~Next Day~~~

Usagi wakes up early so when I go to her room she isn't there. I leave the house and find Usagi at Natsumi and Seijouro's apartment. "I can understand wanting to goof off, but anyway, let's go!"

"Oh, Usagi-san! Did you come to see us again?!" Seijouro questions happily.

"Oh, I just came here to pick up Natsumi-san," Usagi admits.

"Onii-sama, don't you think she's annoying?" Natsumi questions annoyed.

"Since you went to the trouble of coming here, why don't the two of you have some cake and meat buns?" Seijouro offers.

"Oh, thank you!" Usagi says happily.

We both walk inside. I am sitting on the chair while Usagi is in front of the same door as yesterday. Usagi hits the top of her head. "Oh, Usagi! You're such a bad girl!" She opens the door, but I stay on the chair, reading one of my books. "It's pitch black."

The room starts to glow bright gold. "It's so bright!" Usagi exclaims.

Usagi lets out a scream as she is grabbed. I race forward at the same time Seijouro and Natsumi run from the kitchen. I recognize the tree straight away and notice that there is no love energy surrounding it. I let some of my own energy filled with love enter the branches that are holding Usagi.

Seijouro presses the button and shuts the doors. I pull Usagi away at the same time. "Usagi, you were told not to enter that room." I scold gently.

"Usagi-san, are you all right?" Seijouro asks.

"What is this room?!" Usagi questions.

"Oh, I'm, experimenting with something right now," Seijouro admits.

"What kind of experiment?" I question softly.

"Well, let's just say it has something to do with cosmic botany." Seijouro offers.

"Really? I didn't know." Usagi says.

"Tsukino-san!" Natsumi shouts. "It's rude to peep into someone's room without permission!"

"I'm sorry." Usagi apologizes sheepishly.

"Anyway, I'm not going to school today. So, would you mind leaving?" Natsumi queries annoyed once more.

Usagi nods her head. "O-Okay."

We leave their apartment. Seijouro-san is on the balcony. Usagi turns around and waves at him cheerfully. He waves back. "Make sure you both come to school tomorrow!"

~~~3rd POV~~~

Eiru's eyes widen as Usagi and Selena walk away. I feel something warm inside again. What is this?

Eiru snaps out of his thought and the pair of them check on the Doom Tree. "Eiru, what do you think?"

"Maybe the energy we fed it is finally starting to work." Eiru offers as the gaze at the new sprout.

"But there wasn't any change until just now." An points out.

Eiru turns to look at her. "Until just now?"

She narrows her eyes. "Until Tsukino-sans came here. I think it has something to do with Tsukino-san's energy."

"It can't be." Eiru denies.

A smirk appears on An's face. "If we could squeeze out every drop of their energy, the Doom Tree might be revived."

"Wait!" Eiru calls out getting her attention and she asks if he objects. "I didn't mean it like that. But there's something I want to try."

"What?" An questions.

Eiru looks to the right. "Yamandakka!"

She appears. "Dakka!"

Eiru points at the tree. "Give energy to this new sprout."

"Yamandakka!" She moves over to the sprout.

"What are you trying to do?" An asks.

"If I could sprout this bud, the Doom Tree could go back to its old vivid green self," Eiru admits.

"I wonder if it'll be that easy." An ponders.

The energy causes the new sprout to wilt. Eiru lets out a gasp. "Yamandakka."

"Our precious new sprout…" An trails off.

A loud groan is heard causing the pair of them to gaze up at the Doom Tree. An lets out a gasp. "Just now, the Doom Tree said something."

Eiru lets out a scoff as he lowers his head. "A tree can't say anything."

"Eiru, what is the Doom Tree?" An asks.

"Why are you asking me? It's the tree that our ancestors handed down to us so we could store the energy we need." Eiru states.

"Is that all?" She questions again.

"It can distil the high-quality energy that is perfect for our consumption," Eiru adds.

"Is that all?" An asks again.

"Yeah, that's all." Eiru agrees.

~~~Selena's POV~~~

~~~At School~~~

It is our lunch break. Lunetta and I are sitting with Usagi, Mako-chan, and Ami-chan.

"Oh? You went there again?" Mako-chan says surprised.

"You sure are something, Usagi-chan." Ami-chan praises. Before letting out a gasp "Usagi-chan, you have something on your head!"

"What?" Usagi exclaims. Mako-chan uses a stick and hits it off Usagi's head. It is a twig from the tree from earlier. It moves by itself causing Usagi, Mako-chan, and Ami-chan to let out a shriek.

"What is this?!" Mako-chan exclaims.

"It looks creepy," Ami-chan admits as she stares at it.

~~~After School~~~

Lunetta goes back to Jadeite's while Usagi and I head home, get changed before heading over to Rei's shrine. I put on the same clothes as before. Mama washed them for me.

"Luna, did you find out something?" Ami-chan queries.

"We found out something troubling. Artemis, it's dangerous, but why don't you try?" Luna orders.

"What? I don't really want to…" Artemis trails off.

"Artemis-chan!" Luna scolds.

"I got it." He puts his paw inside the glass. It attaches itself to his paw. He lets out a scream before waving his paw around and getting it off and back at the bottom of the glass.

"So, do you understand?" Luna questions.

"Not at all!" Usagi admits.

"So, it steals energy?" Ami-chan questions.

"That's right!" Crescent comments.

"Usagi-chan, I can't believe you had it stuck on your head," Mako-chan states causing Usagi to shiver.

"After we studied this, we found out something very troubling," Yue admits.

"What?" We all ask.

"Do you want to know?" Artemis queries.

Minako-chan steps forward. "Quit beating around the bush and just tell us!"

"Well, this is a twig of the Doom Tree." Crescent offers.

"The Doom Tree?" Usagi and the girls exclaimed.

Usagi is bending down. "Hmm, I see...What's that?"

Luna sweatdrops. "It is a mysterious cosmic plant that drains energy. However, this is the only thing we know. No one actually knows what it is." Luna admits.

"I wonder why something so dangerous was at Natsumi-san's place," Rei asks.

"Seijouro-san told me he was studying plants. That means…" Usagi trails off.

"That means?" The girl's questions Usagi.

"He's collecting rare plants!" Usagi exclaims.

Rei lets out a quiet sigh. "Why are you always so clueless?!"

"If there's a twig, then there's a big tree that it came from!" Luna says.

"No normal person collects stuff like that!" Minako-chan admits.

"Y-You think so?" Usagi stutters.

"Conclusion! Those two are suspicious!" Rei adds.

Usagi turns to look at Rei. "What?"

"Those two might also be behind the incidents we've had recently." Artemis offers.

Mako-chan has her fist clenched in front of her. "In short, Seijouro-san and Natsumi-san are Eiru and An!"

"No way!" Usagi denies.

Usagi runs off before I could catch her. I finally do and I find her outside Natsumi-san and Seijouro-san's apartment.

"Hey, dumpling head, Selena!" Mamoru calls out.

We turn to see Mamoru walking towards us. "Mamoru-san! Where are you going?"

"There!" He points to Natsumi-san and Seijouro-san balcony. "I heard that Natsumi-san is sick and hasn't been to school."

"No! She's playing hooky! Hooky!" Usagi gets worked up. She is trying to get Mamoru to remember me after all and visiting other girls doesn't look good. "Anyway, why do you have to visit Natsumi-san?"

"She helped me a lot when we did the Snow-White play, remember?" He says before walking past.

"Oh, wait! There's a Doom Tree in their apartment! It'll take your energy!" Usagi warns causing me to chuckle softly.

"'Dumb Troll'? What are you talking about?" Mamoru questions before laughing.

"Hey! Hold on a second!" Usagi says before the pair of us runs after Mamoru and catches up.

Natsumi opens the door. Mamoru gives her some flowers. "What? You came to see me? But, why?"

"Anyone would usually get worried if someone he knew were sick." Mamoru points out.

Usagi pats his shoulder and whispers. "I think you should hurry up and leave!"

"Oh, you came again? Since you're here, why don't you come inside?" Natsumi offers.

"What?" Usagi says surprised.

"Oh, Usagi-san! Selena-san! Please come in and have something to drink. We still have the cake and meat buns that you missed out on last time." Seijouro offers.

"Sure!" Usagi exclaims happily.

We go inside. Natsumi and Seijouro sit on one chair while I sit in the middle of Usagi and Mamoru. Usagi is eating two meat buns at the same time.

Mamoru places his cup back on the table. "Wow, you have a great view."

"If you go out on the balcony, you can see much better. Onii-sama, why don't you take him outside?" Natsumi suggests.

"What? Okay." Seijouro agrees hesitantly.

They both get up and go outside. Usagi is about to eat her strawberry when Natsumi speaks up. "Tsukino-san? I'll show you something good."

"What?" Usagi questions.

"Remember? The room you wanted to see so badly?" Natsumi queries. We look towards the door. "To tell you the truth, we're being threatened by something very terrifying."

Usagi leans closer to Natsumi. "Something terrifying?"

"Yes, and it's in the next room. But it's sleeping right now, so it'll be okay, Come." Natsumi comments.

"Okay…" Usagi agrees hesitantly. Natsumi takes hold of Usagi's arm and takes her to the door. "Maybe next time."

I think she has forgotten that I am here. I follow behind Natsumi and Usagi.

"No, now's the time." Natsumi pushes Usagi inside the room. I sneak past her and head over to Usagi. "Yamandakka! Don't lose her!"

"What?!" Usagi exclaims before the door is shut.

"Dakka!" A voice calls out before hands come from the shadows that grab a hold of Usagi and me. Usagi lets out a scream as our energy begins to be drained.

"That's enough! That's enough!" A voice suddenly repeats a few times.

"Da-kka?" The Cardian questions.

"Stop it already!" The voice shouts before the tree behind us glows and grows.

I see that the doors have been broken down and that Mamoru, Natsumi, and Seijouro-san are in the room with us. "Help!" Usagi shouts.

"Selena! Dumpling!" Mamoru yells.

"Usagi-san!" Seijouro calls out.

The branches of the tree are holding Usagi and me along with the Cardian. "Yaman! Yaman!" The branch holding the Cardian slams it face-first to the ground.

~~~3rd POV~~~

The rest of the girls make it outside to see that the building is covered in vines and branches. "What's going on here?" Rei demands.

"Usagi-chan! Selena-chan!" Ami calls out worriedly.

"We can't get inside like this." Crescent points out causing Yue to nod his head in agreement.

"Everyone, transform now!" Luna orders.

"Got it!" They all agree.

"Mars Power!" Rei calls out.

"Mercury Power!" Ami calls out.

"Venus Power! Minako calls out.

"Jupiter Power! Makoto calls out.

"Makeup!" They call out at the same time and they begin transforming one after the other.

"Sailor Mars!" Rei calls out.

"Sailor Mercury!" Ami calls out.

"Sailor Venus!" Minako calls out.

"Sailor Jupiter!" Makoto calls out.

They stand in front of each other with Makoto in front. "Let me handle this! Supreme…Thunder!"

There is an explosion and a huge cloud of smoke appears before disappearing. "It didn't work!"

Just then, there is a loud female scream before another one follows.
