Harrison's POV
The night passed like many others when they had been on the mountain. Their small pack took turns keeping watch. Clan heir or not he didnt trust them not to attack
The only good thing that really came of it was that they finally had something to eat. Grindelwald and Malcolm both went ice fishing and brought back plenty to fill their bellies. For the first time in a while, they had something warm within them.
Harrison laid next to Quent and couldn't sleep. Halfway through the night, it seemed that he could not bring himself to. He was going to be tired during the run across the water tomorrow.
He tried to stretch only for an arm to wrap around him. Quent groaned as he tugged Harrison closer as he said, "Sleep. Tomorrow is going to a long day. If you don't sleep you will have trouble leading us safely across the ice. Now just sleep."
Harrison let out a low growl in return but curled up the best he could. A dreamless sleep finally caught up to him. When morning came his mind was foggy but not as tired as he was before.
Grindelwald it seemed had taken another double watch. That man was really trying to prove himself to the pack. Harrison didnt trust easily but this was one person that seemed to be doing everything he can to help them. Even answering his questions truthfully.
Harrison said as he approached, $Thank you for watching over us last night.$
Grindelwald replied without turning away from where he was watching the clan members waking up, $Its no issue to me, Harrison. You are my clan head it is my duty to look after you.$
$Its still kind to thank you for your hard work and diligence,$ he said.
The older wolf sent him a look of faint amusement. Harrison helped Malcolm catch their breakfast. With their bellies full it was time to break camp and head across the ice.
Harrison said drawing everyone's attention, "Its time to leave. Those who wish to find Paradise now is time to go. If you don't come with us now then you will be left here."
Whispers broke out but it didnt take long for most of the group to make their way to the ice. They shifted into their wolf forms rather than keeping to human. He didnt blame them for that. Their human sides didnt have fur keeping them warm. Clothes could only help so much. Their fur is what would keep them alive.
His only worry would be Quent. Fires would be dangerous from here on out. Keeping him alive was going to be just as difficult as it was on the mountain.
A few more of the clan left that morning with dubious looks at the ice. They thought that it would crack under their weight. Harrison for his part had some faith in his raven. It wouldn't lead them all to their deaths.
Once everyone made their choice Harrison took the lead. The raven was circling above him for a moment. Then it took off across the water and he cautiously followed. Under him, the ice felt stable and he couldn't hear any worrying creaks. Quent was the first to follow him and still, the ice held out.
One by one the wolves stepped out onto the ice not wanting to be outdone by a human. It was a slow process to cross the ice. Several times they had to reroute due to weak ice.
The raven squawked at them suddenly and circled Harrison. Harrison stopped curious about what had the bird suddenly so agitated. Then loud gunshot like cracks filled the air.
Harrison snarled, $Scatter!$
It was either going to be the Light or his father. Neither would be pleasant for them to encounter. Fighting on the ice was too dangerous to try. They needed to find land and soon.
The scent of familiar dark magic wafted over him. Internally he cursed his luck. His father had come himself.
Quent cursed, "Damn it! Death Eaters! We have to get out of here!"
Malcolm growled, $Harrison guide the clan away from them. I'll try to talk to your father.$
Harrison nodded but didnt say anything. They both knew that the likelihood of it working was zero. His father had likely figured out that he had the wolf gene. How Harrison didnt know or particularly care.
The clan had done as they were ordered and scattered. Harrison pushed on the back of Quent's legs to get him moving. The man stumbled briefly before running towards where he pushed to.
Harrison snipped at his heels to direct but for the most part, it wasn't necessary. The wolves followed their lead but stayed spread out. Until something tugged on Harrison. Mentally he swore violently as he was dragged back towards the dark wizard. He had the feeling that it was an accio. No doubt used by his father by the strength of the magic.
Growling he tried to break free of the magic but it was useless. In his wolf form, he couldn't fully access his magic. Which made it difficult in fighting a wizard.
Grindelwald snarled as he tried to run after them, $Damn it, Harrison!$
$Stay back! I don't want him to know that you are free!$
The elder wolf froze. There was skillfully hidden hurt in the mismatched eyes. Harrison felt slightly bad for ordering him to stay away but he knew his father. Another Dark Lord would be seen as a threat to his father's reign. His clan was scattered enough without adding the loss of their elder.
Then the magic dropped him at his father's feet. A snarl escaped him as he turned. Red eyes stared coldly down at him.
