Chapter 28 : Unexpected Help
Haseno Nishida is a middle aged worker from the National Diet building. He is also a part of the Other Side and he was responsible for checking out for any anomalous threats on Yokohama.
He works as the Section Leader of Yokohama. It is a position given to a higher ranked person involving supernatural from the Japanese Government.
Being the leader involving supernatural in Yokohama, he have a group of people along with him. Because Yokohama is a large port city, so his group was divided into many divisions.
There are a variety of types for a supernatural thing. Things like magicians, martial artist, spirits, demons, angels, psychics, and a lot more are just an example as to how many there are. Each of those beings uses different types of power or energy to enact their will into the world. So the division of roles are pretty diverse and it can get confusing without the knowledge what each of the types of anomaly that they are facing.
Anyway, he have a lot of things in his hand. And his current objective for today is to investigate a serious threat that might be lurking on Yokohama.
Four days ago, some of his divisions in charge of detecting supernatural activities reported that they sense something impossible on the outskirts of the commercial district on the southeastern side of Yokohama. It's on the area where many residential areas are located.
They said that it might be some sort of Cosmic Being due to the strangeness that they sensed.
They really can't tell because they felt a sense of neutrality on the presence that they detected.
Cosmic Beings are already a threat on a global scale. It's to the point that all the factions from the country where that Cosmic Being was located must join together and ask for that said entity to not harm their world, or even just their country if that Cosmic Being was malicious in nature.
It was possible to defeat a Cosmic Being, but that needs power beyond human means. Or in short, the power to essentially destroy the stars.
Dragons or Deities might be able to face a Cosmic Being but those Dragons and Deities needs to cooperate before they can have a slight chance of winning against a low tier Cosmic Being.
That's how ridiculously strong a Cosmic Being is.
Because his team doesn't know if it was really a Cosmic Being or some sort of active artifact, they need to make sure first. So he gave a notice to the Secret Intelligence Bureau about this incident and ask them to make him responsible for this mission.
The Japanese Secret Intelligence Bureau (JSIB) is a government sector of Japan that files every supernatural factions, threats, and other points of interest on this country. It's not the Prime Minister who holds the reign for this sector but the Emperor of Japan himself.
While the public perception these days are that Emperors are just a status symbol on this country, the truth is that they hold a lot more power on the Other Side. The Prime Minister will take care of daily mortal affairs while the Imperial Family will take care of anything supernatural.
Anyway, after acquiring the seal of approval from the Head Chief of JSIB, he finally get some of his elite members to look into the mysterious presence that they felt on that area.
So now he was heading into that residential area along with his elite team.
"Hm?"
He noticed the two guys wearing the clothes commonly seen from those working on the city hall. Being curious about it, he told the man driving the car he was currently in to stop.
Then he leaves the car before calling out to the two.
The two was confused why he called them but they immediately stood straight when he showed his ID, which states that he was from the National Diet. He can't really show his true identity to the people not part of the Other Side.
"What are you two doing here?" He asks them with a serious expression.
"Yes Haseno-san! We are just going to this address because of some misguided youth. We are going to put her in childcare while looking for anyone to become her legal guardian." That is what one of the guy from the city hall says.
These two guys working from the city hall were currently going to Ayumi's house to take temporary custody of Hoshimachi Ayumi. This is because they have found out about the picture of her circulating on the internet and it matches with the one who was recently undergoing the probation process of being independent.
As stated on the probation, she needs to prove that she can have a stable income on those six months. After passing those six months that she will truly be an independent citizen.
But they just got a match of her picture on the internet, and investigating it leads them to the account of Sakaguchi Kotomi, which unknown to them was currently being hacked.
Because they don't know it wasn't her, so the people from Yokohama's local ministry was alarmed. It would have a major hit on their image and the people from the Childcare Services will be tearing them to shreds if they ever find out that they let a young girl like her to be homeless and fend for herself by selling her body to some strangers.
They also have a notice stating that someone was impersonating a dead person, but they think the two incident wasn't connected so they didn't know that they are going at the house where both of their problems are located.
Nishida was still curious about it. They are currently going to the site where they just felt the suspected Cosmic Being is located. It would be bad if two normals accidentally encountered that Cosmic Being.
"Then I'll be going with you." So he said that to the two.
After the two thanked him, they got to his car. Then his driver moves the car again, with his other elite subordinates following them on the back with their own vehicles.
'Why do I feel like something bad is going to happen?' He thought to himself as he tried to clench and unclench his fist.
It is an attempt to calm his heart that somehow is beating a bit too fast for him.
They drive through the residence, going to the house where Ayumi is located.

"You don't have to tell me that." She muttered to herself as she saw the prompt on her cheat ability.
She opens a small portal above her palms and let a ticket fell into it. Then she grip it with her hands as the small portal closes.
"My goal... is to make that person regret ever crossing with me!" She said with a cold glare in her eyes.
What she uses is the Success Ticket. When she declared her goal, the ticket in her hand slowly vanishes into the thin air.
When it finally vanishes, Ayumi had just arrived in front of the entrance door. She opens it to see some men in front of her gate, their cars seems to be parked somewhere due to how much they have gathered here.
One of the man who saw her widened his eyes when his gaze met her figure. Though she doesn't care because she don't have anytime to deal with this.
She raises her hand to invoke her will to control their minds. She can easily do that even without the hand gesture but she have the urge to do that and because she wasn't thinking carefully unlike before, so she was going by with her feelings.
She wants to control whoever is coming to this house in suspicion that those people are here for Fubuki. Ayumi didn't even thought that it was about her due to her mind focusing on the text that Fubuki have on her smartphone.
Before she can control them however, the guy who widened his eyes at the sight of her blanched in terror and he immediately raises his hand.
"STOP!" He yelled in panic, causing Ayumi to pause on her actions.
This also make the two normal humans who doesn't know what almost happened to them to become confused.
"We are here in peace. Please give us a time to talk this out." Haseno Nishida said while his clenched fist was trembling.
While he was doing that, his elite members that was along with him quickly got his meaning. Two of his elites forcefully turned the two normal person's gaze to them and uses their hypnosis so the two will fall unconscious.
Ayumi was curious what is happening, but she quickly took that out of her mind as she coldly stares at Nishida's way.
By the way, she was wearing her hoodie. She still doesn't want anyone to see her appearance. It's an ingrained habit of her even when she was angry.
"What do you want?" She asks coldly.
Nishida then gestured for his members to follow his lead before he genuflected on where he stood. His elite members also did those, following his gestured orders.
"Greetings glorious one. May this useless one know what your glorious self goes by?" He asks in pure respect, with fear having a factor in it.
As to why Nishida was doing it, it was because he felt it. The pure force of power that Ayumi was releasing.
Ayumi doesn't care if anyone sees it so she wasn't holding back her strength at all. This also makes her Essence to be noticeable from anyone looking at her.
When Nishida saw her, he thought he was looking at the universe itself. Her aura of neutrality can turn into many things, turning it into a kaleidoscope of wonders. It was a power unheard of even by this world.
When he saw her raising her hand on their way, he finally realized what is happening.
He thought that someone was trying to poke a being they shouldn't have ever messed up. He was cursing whoever was causing this mess that might cause the extinction of Japan itself.
'This one is not human!' He thought to himself.
So he only did the only thing he can do, appease the "Entity" that was in front of him.
It was the standard protocol to beings outside of their control. If they can't fight it or even resist it, then appease it. Give it everything it wants and hope that the entity leaves Japan alone.
They can't start a fight to a being who might be capable of destroying the world. Cosmic Beings commonly sees a planet as just a tiny speck of dust, something that can be easily swatted away.
They don't have the power to fight something like that. And he now understands why his team said what they said. She really have an aura unlike everything he ever encounters.
'We must be careful around this point. This is a thin ice we're walking into. One wrong step and Japan will be no more!' He thought to himself while filling his heart with resolve.
"... I am Hoshimachi Ayumi." Ayumi, even while angry, still have the decency to answer back to questions.
"I see." Nishida said while thinking that the "Entity" might be acting as a human. 'I should just entertain her then.' He thought to himself. "I am sorry Hoshimachi-sama. We might have started in a bad footing. Can you find it in yourself to forgive us for this misunderstanding?" He appealed to her in a reverent way.
"Misunderstanding?" Ayumi muttered to herself. "Is hacking into my account a misunderstanding? What about humiliating me both on the real life and the internet, is that also a misunderstanding?" She asks the guy in front of her.
'Shit! Some normals were messing with her!' Nishida curses in his mind as he heard her rebuttal to his words. "I see... then not to worry, we will take care of that matter with our hands. May we ask that you don't do something drastic with our country?" He said with a hint of desperation in his reverent tone.
Ayumi tilted her head in confusion before she simply said an "Of course" on their way.
"Thank you for your understanding."
Nishida was just planning to leave the place when Ayumi stops him with a wait. This causes him to freeze before rigidly turning back on her way.
"You're people from the government right?" Ayumi asks, her anger slightly dissipating.
As to how she knows, she can see it with the way they are clothed. Also, she can see the half hidden ID of Nishida from his pockets.
"... Yes, Hoshimachi-sama." He said in affirmative while fearing what she will say next.
"Then, can you stop blocking Fubuki-chan's accounts. I assure you that she is the real Shirakami Fubuki." Ayumi said to them.
"... We will also look into that."
"Thank you." Ayumi said before she recalls something. "Oh right, before I forget. If you ever find the mastermind, don't touch them. I will personally deal with them." She said that with a hint of venom in her voice.
"... May I ask what you will do to the culprit..."
"... Something that I didn't do all of my life." Ayumi simply said before turning her back to them. "Call me when you find the culprit." She said before closing the door to her house.
After that, Nishida quickly asks his members to retrieve the two unconscious normals to the car and drive them to the house. He also ordered everyone to look into this matter and finish this as soon as possible.
"I need the help of the intelligence bureau with this. It seems like we will be putting an all nighter once again." He said to himself while cursing the idiots who tried to provoke Ayumi again in his mind.
Ayumi wasn't expecting someone to suddenly help her on her quest. Though it might be because of her Success Ticket that she acquired a help like that.
They are from the government so having their help will quickly solve many of the problems that Ayumi have. In fact, she was planning to control the people on the higher position on the city hall to force them to turn Fubuki's account back. She will also control their memories so they will think that Fubuki is still alive and the declaration of her death is just a false one.
As for what she is going to do in case the supernatural side of Japan attacks her due to showing her powers in the public, she doesn't care. She will beat them all up.
As expected, even her way of not holding back is still too naive. Even though she was too angry, she was still thinking of just hurting her enemies for a bit, not outright kill them.
'Though my quest is still not complete. So I think my job is still not done.' She thought to herself as she goes back to her streaming room. "Fubuki-chan, you can go out now." She didn't forget to say that.
As she was booting up her computer again, Fubuki came to this room.
Ayumi turned her attention to her before smiling in her way.
"... Uhmm, is it okay now?"
"No, but I manage to have the support of the government. You will be back to streaming sooner so just wait for it!" She said with a smile on her way before turning her attention to the computer again.
"... Then what about your account?" Fubuki asks in concern.
"I am sure they will also take care of it." Ayumi simply replied as she quickly opens up many of her apps for backdooring and breaching codes on the web.
"Is that so. I am glad!" Fubuki finally gave a bright smile on her way.
She manage to reassure Fubuki, which makes Fubuki sigh in relief.
The white fox finally told her that she will be downstairs playing with her smartphone before she left this room.
"Now then... I know this is bad, but I must do this." She said before concentrating on her computer.
What she is essentially doing is illegal. Much more illegal than her simple attempts of hacking to trace her impersonator.
She was going to brute force her way on tracing her impersonator. Specifically, she will breach into their privacy.
Cameras and cellphones can also be hacked using the right codes and backdoors.
'I won't hold back this time!' She thought to herself with a glare on her screen.
Jetblack was just waiting for the transfer of money into his unauthorized private bank accounts when he got a warning that alerts him that someone was hacking into his server.
"Fer fucks sake!" He curses as he quickly typed in codes to lead the probing assailant to a malicious site.
Then his computer made multiple warnings on him.
"Ol'shit!" He curses once again as he activated some of his decoy codes to lead to different malicious sites.
He can't believe that someone will get onto him when he was just waiting for the bank files on Yokohama to complete it's loading. It was pretty hard hacking into the bank's database but due to him having many experience on breaching into bank security and taking bank account passwords on their databases, so he manage to do that.
Though it was a long process of decrypting security codes and disassembling it without sounding the security alarms and the firewalls on the bank. He have a reliable hacking client that automates most of his work but he needs time before he can get to the bank files and transfer it somewhere unnoticed.
Of course this would be much longer if he did this manually. So he was glad that he have some clients to take care of all those hacking codes.
But now it seems like his enemy was much faster. They are easily disassembling every safeguards and security nets that he put on his computer. He still didn't get to recovering his decoy accounts and fake locations because he thought Ayumi will be busy with the authorities, but it seems like he was having a huge problem now.
"I won't let ya!" He shouted on his screen as he furiously typed on his keyboard.
But it was futile. He was getting exhausted putting out defenses and then making force ads, or trying to freeze the screen of the one attacking his computer. It all failed in the end.
His computer suddenly froze in itself before it turned into a blue screen. Though there is nothing written on the screen. Only the color of blue is in there.
"Shit! I em' blocked!" He rages as he slams his fist on the table.
He tried looking around his room, trying to see if he leaves anything that was an equivalent of a camera in it.
After seeing that nothing like that is in his room, he quickly unplugs his computer.
"Damn, I'm busted. Guess I gotta change places eh?" He said to himself.
As a professional hacker, he also knows that whoever hacks into him, they already know where he is located. Before they can come to him, he should quickly leave.
He just took the bare necessities in his room before quickly leaving his house.
"Phew..." Ayumi sighed in relief as she got the control to her account back.
She just noticed that someone was taking her liquid money to some other place so she tried to trace it. Then she tried to trace all the paths it was connecting into. Where it was receiving the command and where it interconnected.
Though it was impossible to typed that at all. It wasn't because she lacks the speed but because her keyboard, even when it was much more durable than a standard one, can't keep up with her full speed and strength.
So to check all the connected paths on the hacker's part, she upgraded her security program. She turned it into a program much more specialized on cyberwarfare and counterintelligence. The programming logic of it is simply beyond humans. She's the only one who manage to make a program that can hack into any computers at a speed impossible even from the greatest supercomputers of this world.
It seems like her hacking program even took the initiative to decrypt any coded files on the hacker's part. It also put copies of his files so even if her impersonator turned his computer off, she can still look into the files that his computer have.
Of course, her hacking program take care of every malicious software and hidden viruses that was hidden on each of these files. It was easy for that specialized AI to do that.
Ayumi looks into it with a speed that was also impossible to humans. Even when she was scrolling down continuously on the text files that she acquired, she still manage to read and understand what was written in there.
What she saw was honestly revolting.
It seems like the one who was impersonating her, Jetblack, was hired by many people on the world. It ranges from a simple rich guy wanting to destroy someone's life, to even a contract from the leader of a certain drug cartel in Mexico. Though it seems like he is not that much of a big name on the underground world, as seen from the heavily secured files that was written.
His most recent events since three years is robbing the bank through his computer. Breaching through their securities and taking the passwords of every person he can see there before transferring all their riches to his many private bank accounts, which is hidden on the Deep Web.
It was a good hiding spot too. No one, other than fellow Deep Web and Dark Web lurkers, will try to get into his private accounts without scarring their minds for life. Those sites have some really fucked up sections that will essentially cause people to go insane. Unless they are desensitized by it. There are also many rogue hackers and malicious people on those sites, which will play with the lives of any unfortunate newbie that comes through there. There are even some sections where hidden government transactions can be discovered. Just setting eyes on one of those sections will essentially cause that person to be hunted all their life.
So Jetblack is really a veteran of that site if he manage to survive that kind of environment. And it seems like he was really good at his work.
Though it seems like he was currently being employed by the same person for three years. It have something to do with his research on a new hacking tool that can be used on AR and VR technologies. And he was having a breakthrough with it, as seen from the notes that was written on his heavily protected files.
Her eyes finally settled on one thing. His current employer. It seems like she was also the one who ordered for the destruction of her alter persona, Sakaguchi Kotomi.
She heard the ringtone of her smartphone ringing. This makes her stop on what she is doing as she took the phone.
Without noticing it, it seems like it was already night time. It was past dinnertime.
"I should cook some dinner after I was done with this call." She said to no one as she took the call.
It seems like it was Nishida on the other side.
"Hello, Hoshimachi-sama. I was just notifying you about the recovery of Shirakami Fubuki's account. We also gave you some immunities to our authority, so you can do what you want. We of the Japanese Government hope that you have a happy time in our world." That was what Nishida said on the other side.
Ayumi is still curious why is he treating her like she was some sort of alien. She thinks the guy might be a part of the supernatural side of this world. But it really hurts her that she was being considered not human.
"Uh... okay. Thank you very much." She thank them with sincerity.
They are from the government. Even if the person on the other side have some knowledge about the supernatural, she still wants to act politely to them. She have an inkling as to why he seems scared of her.
She still recalls that she didn't suppress her Essence. It might be what the guy felt on her, which makes her slightly regretful of doing it.
'... What can I do, I am mad at that time!' She reasoned to herself in her mind.
"Uhmmm..." It seems like Nishida still wanted to say something. "We apologized but we still haven't track down the mastermind putting you into trouble." The guy said with some fear on his voice.
It seems like he was scared that Ayumi might cause some untold catastrophe if she became angry by it.
"It's fine. I already know who is it. I'll deal with her."
"... Uhmm, how will you deal with her, Hoshimachi-sama?" The guy asks with an anxious tone.
Nishida was scared of what Ayumi will do. Because he thinks she is some unknown type of Cosmic Being, so he thinks she might cause something irreparable if she goes along with her planned revenge.
Cosmic Beings are known for not differentiating between a city and a star system. They think both are just the same. So the scale of their destruction is always catastrophic.
"I'll just deal with her alone. No one will get hurt other than her." Ayumi said to reassure him. "... Am I not allowed to?" She asks with a nervous expression.
She have already declared her intention to make the mastermind regret ever crossing her. Though that doesn't mean she wasn't scared of the government. She still doesn't know how strong she is. She only have the statement of the Arctic Fox. She can't compare it to anyone.
Her mind was already made up. She just wants to know if she needs to do this including the wiping out the memories of those who knows her, or do this with those people's memories intact.
She won't let the mastermind get away with this. They have repeatedly causes her to suffer, and even involve Fubuki with it. All the mercy that she have was gone. She can only retaliate back to ensure that this doesn't happen again.
So she needs to be decisive, even if the government tries to stop her. She will be needing to wipe out their memories of her so she can still maintain her daily life.
But it seems like that wasn't needed because Nishida quickly told her that it was fine. He just wanted her to promise that no unnecessary casualties happens as she does what she wants.
Nishida already reported this to JSIB and they gave the approval to sacrifice the one who was provoking Ayumi. It's for the greater good of the country, they said.
"Okay, thank you."
"Yes." Nishida still felt weirded out being thanked by an "Entity" but he tried to focus his mind as he drops the call.
Now then, Ayumi shuts down her computer and goes back downstairs to cook some dinner. It seems like Fubuki was already there. She greeted her when she came downstairs.
As Ayumi was preparing for the dinner, she was also planning her visit on a certain Vtuber.
'Ikuryu Honda huh...' Ayumi thought with some dark thoughts flowing through her mind. '... this is to ensure my daily life and Fubuki's daily life.' She finishes with that thought as she thinks of something to deal with Honda.
She plans to meet her on midnight.

Somehow, this arc became much longer than it should be.
So yes... Success Ticket basically guaranteed her chance of success. It guarantees it so much that it just made things convenient for her, regardless of what happens on the other people who got involved with her success.
Ugh... I hope this was done on the next chapter. Next chapter involves Honda... and suffering...
