Author's Note: So, this is probably totally OOC for Grissom for some but in my mind, I can see this. He has that sarcastic, snarky way about him at times. Anyway, I just started writing and this is what I ended up with. I was going to take it farther but it was going to be too long. There's no dancing in this but oh well.
Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own them.
"Tonight, I want to give it all to you
In the darkness, there's so much I want to do
And tonight, I want to lay it at your feet
'Cause girl, I was made for you
And girl, you were made for me"
Sara was standing in a bar surrounded by her friends. She was throwing back shots with Catherine, Nick, Greg and Warrick while Brass worked on his second whisky. They were there to celebrate and there was just one person missing from their group. Grissom had gotten hung up at work with a supervisors meeting and would be joining them later.
"I swear this is monumental." Greg said. "I feel like I'm witnessing history in the making."
"I second that." Nick nodded. "Never thought I would see this happen."
"A once in a lifetime event." Warrick shook his head in agreement.
"All I'll say is it's about damn time." Brass chuckled.
"You guys are so stupid." Sara giggled as she looked at them.
"Sara, I have to agree with them." Catherine stated, stirring her martini. "I mean, who ever thought that Gil Grissom would ask a woman to marry him?"
"Who ever thought Sara would agree to marriage?" Nick chuckled.
"Gee, thanks guys." Sara deadpanned. "It's really not that big of a deal."
"Are you kidding?" Catherine scoffed. "Look at the size of that rock on your hand and tell me again it's not a big deal."
Sara glanced down at her left hand. A 2 carat platinum princess cut 3 stone diamond engagement ring was nestled securely on her left ring finger. Grissom had went a bit overboard she thought. He could have proposed to her with a ring from a Cracker Jack box and she would have said yes. She had to admit though as she took in the ring that Grissom had chosen well.
"Okay, maybe you're right." Sara smiled brightly.
"I've got to say, for a man who studies bugs and dead bodies for a living, he's got good taste." Warrick said.
"Of course he has good taste." Sara laughed. "He is with me, after all."
"This is true." Greg agreed.
Sara and Catherine were discussing wedding details while the guys were arguing over football teams when a voice came from behind them.
"Sara?"
Sara turned to face the voice and froze when she saw who it was. Catherine also took in the voice and didn't even attempt to hide the disgusted look on her face.
"Hank." Sara said, trying to hide her shock.
"How are you?" Hank Pettigrew took in the woman before him. "You look amazing."
Sara was wearing a simple blue halter dress that barely came down to her knees with stiletto heels. Her hair was down in waves around her shoulders and she had on minimal makeup, mostly around her eyes giving them a smoky look.
"Uh, thanks." Sara was trying to be nice but he was the last person she wanted to be around. She definitely didn't want to be around him once Grissom arrived.
"Yo, aren't you the joker that played our girl?" Warrick eyed Hank.
"Yeah, that's him alright." Nick drawled.
"Well, well, well." Greg sneered.
"Easy boys." Sara admonished, grinning on the inside at their brotherly protectiveness.
"I'm not with Elaine anymore." Hank quickly said. "It ended a while ago."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Sara replied, not caring in the least what Hank had to say.
"So, how have you been?" Hank asked, clearly not taking the hint.
"I've been good." Sara gave him a slight smile. "Really good, actually."
"You look good." Hank grinned at her. "Real good."
Sara felt him before she saw him. Her body was attuned to Gil Grissom in a way that she would never be able to explain. He was the same way with her. They just knew when the other was near.
"So, are you seeing anyone?" Hank asked, his voice sounding hopeful to Sara's ears. "I've always regretted that things didn't work out with us."
Before Sara could reply, she felt Grissom's large body behind her. She saw the smirks on the guys faces and heard Catherine giggle.
"Sorry I'm late, darlin'." Grissom spoke as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and kissed the spot behind her right ear.
Sara turned into Grissom's side and bit back a moan when she took him in. He was in black dress pants, a black shirt and a black suit jacket. He also had his glasses on. She wanted to eat him alive.
"I was made for lovin' you, baby
You were made for lovin' me
And I can't get enough of you, baby
Can you get enough of me?"
"It's about time you joined us, Grissom!" Nick said loudly as he handed the older man a beer. "Now it's time to really celebrate!"
"Well, you know how Ecklie loves to hear himself talk during supervisor meetings." Grissom smirked as he took a drink.
"Better you than me." Brass smirked over his whisky glass.
"Grissom?" Hank looked at Sara. "The crime lab supervisor?"
"The one and only." Grissom answered distractedly, too busy running his eyes over Sara's body.
"You remember Hank here, don't ya Griss?" Nick smirked. "The EMT?"
"Hank… ah, yes." Grissom finally pulled his gaze from Sara, now realizing who the man was standing in front of him. "Of course."
"Be nice." Sara whispered, kissing his bearded cheek.
"Wow, Sara." Hank snorted a laugh as he took in the scene. "I knew you were wild but I never took you for one to screw your boss."
Sara felt the air around her change. The looks on all of her friends faces could only be described as deadly. She didn't even have to look at Grissom to know that his face probably registered something far more scary.
"Oh you've really done it now." Catherine muttered into her martini.
"Technically…" Grissom took a drink of his beer as he eyed the man before him. "She's screwing her fiance."
Hank looked from Sara to Grissom and back to Sara. Sara was trying her best not to laugh out loud at the confused look on Hank's face. She never did think of him as one of the smartest people she knew. She considered her short relationship with him as a brief moment of insanity.
"I really must thank you, Hank." Grissom put his arm around Sara, pulling her into his side and kissing her on the forehead.
"Thank me for what?" Hank stared in confusion.
"For not realizing what you had when you had her. It may have taken me far longer than I like to admit, but your loss was most definitely my gain." Grissom patted Hank on the shoulder with a smirk.
"Gil." Sara put her hand on his chest. "Let it go, babe."
Grissom took her hand and kissed it. Hank caught sight of the ring on Sara's hand and his eyes went wide.
"Well Hank, if you'll excuse us. This is a private celebration." Grissom grinned at the look on the other man's face before Hank turned and walked away.
"You're terrible." Sara smirked.
"Why?" Grissom raised an eyebrow.
"You may as well have flung me over your shoulder and carried me out of here to your cave." Sara giggled.
"I would if you would let me get away with it." Grissom grinned at her.
"You can do whatever you want when we get home." Sara winked at him as they joined their friends at the bar to continue their celebration.
"Tonight, I want to see it in your eyes
Feel the magic, there's something that drives me wild
And tonight, we're gonna make it all come true
'Cause girl, you were made for me
And girl, I was made for you"
