Chapter 35 : To Tanegashima
"Thank you for accepting our request. We appreciate your support."
"Don't say that. It's all for the sake of my daughter."
"Of course. We even made a pact in front of the Fairy King's Covenant. So we will make sure to entertain her."
"I am sure you will."
"... Now then, we will start setting up our new field."
"Yes. Have fun in your game."

"Foo!~~" Fubuki's eyes was fixed on the windows with her eyes lighting up.
Currently, they are inside a Shinkansen that goes to Kagoshima. After that, they will be going to the ferry to get to Tanegashima.
It's a trip that will take them almost ten hours before getting to their destination but Ayumi can't help but do this. This is the fastest available path for them.
Children are not allowed to go to any airlines without their legal guardian, even if they are legally independent. So the only thing left is to get to the ferry.
Ayumi made sure to know the laws in this version of Japan.
She already took the necessary procedures to get her travel licenses inside this country. She got that before getting out of Osaka after all. So she can travel freely as long as it's inside Japan.
Fubuki's face was clearly seen by the crowds but they only give a glance on her way before continuing on their own things.
This is because of what Fubuki was wearing. An enchanted hoodie that can hide her features to any person looking into her.
Ayumi can somehow see her real features thanks to her unnatural resistance to supernatural. So she can see her ears perking up and her tail swishing in excitement.
Ayumi then turned her attention back to her mobile phone. She was currently looking at the Google Earth to see the appearance of this world's Tanegashima.
She saw that the cities on Tanegashima are still Nishinoomote on the north, Nakatane on the center, and Minamitane on the south. The Tanegashima Space Center is still on Minamitane.
It seems like Tanegashima was also known for it's rifle, which is just like what's on her past life.
But anything else is a lot more different.
Even the local festival (which seems to be happening on all three cities on Tanegashima) was also new thing for her.
'How strange...' She thought to herself as she reads about the local festival.
It seems like the festival was made on 2019 and since then, it became a local festival on the whole Tanegashima. The festival was called as the Teacher's Gratitude Festival "Ikusarei Matsuri (師礼祭り)".
It was a weirdly named festival that was established when some elderly people who are retired teachers of an institution where thanked by almost all their students who are successful in their own career path. The people on these three cities celebrated on a week in late August and since the three mayors also like what happened, it became a sort of custom as time passes.
Ayumi can't help but feel that the origin of the festival was pretty out of place. It doesn't even have anything to do with the main contents of the festival.
The festival seems to have a lot of things going on, with some relating to thanking their elders or teachers. But the main event of Teacher's Gratitude Festival is called the Initiation Program.
The Initiation Program was left vague on the descriptions so she doesn't even know what it was about. She was looking into a site that delves into the local occasions, customs, and even festivals of each regions of Japan. So having a vague description of it can either mean that the editor of this site doesn't have a knowledge of it or it was just a secret from the locals.
The only description about it is that "A girl will pick people on the crowd and let them join on a certain game where prizes will be given to them if they win". It doesn't specify why a girl needs to pick people or what kind of game it was talking about.
It causes Ayumi to become worried about that detail. But she thinks she will see for herself if she experience it. Anyone is eligible to participate in the festival, even the tourists.
As Ayumi was busy doing that, her attention was taken by Fubuki as she taps her on the shoulder.
"Look Ayumi, the sight is beautiful here!~" Fubuki said in excitement.
She was like a child who just saw the outside for the first time, which might be an appropriate term to describe the current Fubuki as her memory regressed to that of a child. It can be said that it really was her first time going outside if she can't even remember the time before she became a fox girl.
Ayumi just wryly smiled on her way before she put her mobile on her pocket and joined Fubuki on looking at the sights on the train's window.
'Well, I can just think about it if we were there.' Ayumi thought to herself.
"Ugh... the sunlight is burning me..." That was what Minato Aqua muttered to herself with a depressed tone.
"Sunlight can't burn you, idiot!" The one who was sitting besides her rebukes her words.
"The gaze of strangers are piercing me..." Aqua just continues on her monologue.
"Their not even looking at you!" Rebukes the one besides her again.
"Ah, just let her Shion-san. I am sure she will cheer up again if we get to the fun part." That was what a silver haired girl said that was besides Aqua who kept rebuking her.
Murasaki Shion just snorted to the side.
They are currently on a flight to get to Tanegashima. It will land on Nishinoomote after five hours.
Minato Aqua, the leader of the seventh strongest supernatural in Japan, was just an ordinary girl who got caught up on the affairs of the Other Side. She didn't even know that she was seen from every supernatural factions as a leader. She doesn't even know that she encountered supernatural events on her life.
She thinks that the many encounters she have are just people who are mentally ill (Chuunibyos) or are just convincing cosplayers.
She will be believing it was supernatural if not for the many facts that makes her defeat all of them.
She can beat them barehanded. Or she can beat them using toys that she always carry to protect herself.
Aqua was introverted in nature. She doesn't even want to go outside her room after she was kicked out of Yubelverse. She didn't even get up to six months before she lost her only job.
It was only thanks to her fans (calling themselves Aqua's Crew) that she somehow managed to get by. These fans by the way are the five fat guys who tried to ambush her to hypnotise her (They want her to act as their girlfriend and take a selfie with them on a single day). They somehow got infatuated to her after she beats them to a pump.
It was also at this time that she learned she was strangely good at fighting herself. She thinks it was some self-defense instinct that she have.
Then many things happened to her. She was somehow supported by her "Fans". Some people became her friends as she tried to protect herself from weirdoes proclaiming they can cause the destruction of the world and whatnot.
Examples of her friends are; a certain Yakuza loving girl who somehow have a chipped horn, a blonde girl who have a weird taste for food, a self proclaimed devil, a self proclaimed vampire who doesn't like blood, and also the people who are currently with her.
She doesn't know that what they are seeing are the truth though. She doesn't even know that the toys she was holding was in fact, enchanted so much by her friends that it became a legend of it's own.
They don't want to see Aqua being hurt and inadequate to the troubles that seems to naturally come her way so she they strengthen everything that Aqua owns.
Though, most of them are becoming tired of Aqua not believing they are supernatural. She have a good argument though.
How can she hurt them if they have magic or something?
And they can't even rebuke her because Aqua doesn't know that she can easily slip through their perception and take them out. She doesn't have much presence to people from the Other Side due to not having any Supernatural Factor. Also, while her straightforward strikes are not that hard-hitting, she can strangely do a nasty submissions or holds.
But even with all the friends that Aqua made on these three years, she still didn't get over with her own issues.
That is being a shut-in.
She doesn't want to get out of her room if she can help it. In fact, she only got dragged literally to any trouble because of her friends forcing her to come with them.
Just like now.
"Why do you always cooped yourself inside your room. It's bad for your health!" That's what Shion says to her, which she always hears on a daily basis.
After awhile, they just let Aqua stay on the corner of her seat, still looking like her soul leaving in her mouth.
"Hehehe... I wonder if there are any interesting corpses there!~" A certain green haired girl on their back said with a creepy smile.
They promptly ignored what she just muttered as they talk to each other.
"So Ayame, what's with the sudden interest on the island?" Shion asks the silver haired girl.
"Hm? Nothing? I am just interested in the festival." Ayame said with a curious tilt of her head.
"... That's it?" Shion asks with a deadpan look.
"But the festival sounds so exciting eh! I wonder what kind of game is hidden in that festival!" Ayame said that with her eyes shining.
"Yeah sure... fine..." Shion snorted as she turned her head on another direction.
Aqua was still trying to escape reality. Not really liking that she was outside.
"The outside will kill me..."
"Your exaggerating!"
Shion can't help but rebuke her again.
"... So Minato-san is going to Tanegashima too!?" Ayumi exclaimed in shock.
Fubuki just recalled that she was going to tell that to Ayumi, so she did. This causes Ayumi to become shocked.
Ayumi suddenly felt like going back home now. She doesn't want to see the other members without any preparations.
But she took her courage back after a moment.
'Don't worry, I can do this!' She encourages herself.
They got to Kagoshima, on a certain station that Ayumi doesn't recall being the name of station in Kagoshima on her past life.
"... Wanna eat something before going to the ferry?" Ayumi asks Fubuki.
Fubuki nodded while she looks around the place in excitement.
The place was pretty new to her. So she was having fun just looking at the sights everywhere.
Ayumi took her hand and leads her to a certain fast food restaurant. The name of the restaurant is WcRolands (The counterpart of McDonald's).
When she got there, she immediately got in line with the people with Fubuki still besides her.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Burgers!"
Fubuki quickly replied to her prompting. Ayumi nodded before looking into the line.
'I think there is no tea juice in this place. This was the counterpart part of McDonald's after all.' Ayumi thought to herself. 'Well, I am sure we can take our own drinks with us in this place.' She thought to herself before looking at Fubuki. "If you don't like the drinks here, you can just take something out of your dimensional storage. I made sure to put a lot of tea juices brand that you like." Ayumi informed her.
Fubuki just nodded on her way. She already knows that because she checks what's inside her Steve's Ring before they left their house.
When they got to the front, Ayumi quickly ordered a standard meal set and of course, the burger set.
Then they go to a table where they will wait for their food.
While that is happening, Fubuki has calmed down. It seems like she is finally satisfied on looking around her surroundings.
'What should we do on Nishinoomote I wonder?' She thought to herself.
Their first destination will be the Nishinoomote. Then they will go to Nakatane so she can start looking into Matsuri. That is where Matsuri's class will be doing their camping trip.
It's like a field trip if the teachers are letting their students join the festival. Even though it should be a school camping trip.
As to how Ayumi learned where Matsuri's class will go, she just predicted it.
Matsuri didn't tell her where on Tanegashima she will go. So Ayumi was just predicting it.
And her prediction have some basis on it. The Nakatane of this world's Tanegashima have an abundant nature besides the city. It was appropriate to do some outdoor camping for a week.
A camping trip was supposed to last for a week but it seems like it will only take three days for Matsuri's class.
"Here is your order." A waitress told the two of them as they put their order on their table.
"Thanks." Fubuki said on the waitress.
Then the both of them started eating their lunch, with Fubuki being delighted to do so. She even took a bottle of tea juice to go along with her burgers. She took it on her Steve's Ring, which the people didn't notice and only thought that it was already in her possession at the beginning.
Along with hiding her supernatural features, the enchantment goes as far as even hiding anything out of ordinary on it's wearer. That includes taking something out of their inventory.
After the both of them are done eating, they took their leave after Ayumi paid for the meal.
"Now then, let's go to the ferry!"
"Yes!"
Fubuki quickly nodded as her excitement was rising once again.
Ayumi was also excited. This would be her first time getting into a ferry. She didn't even experience it in her past life.
'I wonder how fun is it?' She wondered to herself.
'Okay... I hate this now...' Ayumi thought in disappointment as she looks at the sea.
After getting to the ferry, the both of them are having fun looking at the whole area in amazement.
Fubuki is still happy on her surroundings but for Ayumi, the novelty of the experience quickly died down for her.
'It's just water as far as the eye can see. No dolphins or even a school of fishes in the vicinity. TV lied to me.' She thought while feeling somewhat betrayed.
She only was interested because most of the things she saw about getting on a ferry is on the TV. People on those TV always hypes up their viewers with whatever is appropriate, like showing just the interesting parts on their voyage.
Having experienced it herself, she now see it as boring. There is nothing to do here other than wait for the ferry to arrive at their destination. The signal reception during their voyage was a bit bad due to the movement of the boat. And if not for Ayumi and Fubuki's enhanced status, they would have already experienced seasickness. Which is common because this is their first time.
In fact, it should be more so for Fubuki due to having the traits of a fox. It's pretty hard for normal animals to find their balance and they get easily dizzy when they are on a bumpy ride. Fubuki's trait makes her more vulnerable to things that easily disturbs her sense of perception.
This is once again thanks to her innate tolerance due to being a part demon, and also Ayumi's enhancement consumables.
'Now then... what should I do if I meet up with Minato-san?' She took her thought process to that train of thought.
Based on Fubuki, Aqua told her that she will also go to Tanegashima along with her friends. It seems like they are planning to stay on Nishinoomote, which means that they only have a single day to meet with them before they go to Nakatane.
"I don't know what to do... should I let Fubuki-chan to talk to them?" Ayumi muttered to herself with a sigh.
"I think it would be better if I introduce you to them." Fubuki suddenly said besides her.
It makes Ayumi flinches but she notice her presence getting near so she was a bit prepared to that suddenness.
"... Are you sure it was alright?" Ayumi asked while feeling nervous.
"Of course it's alright! I am sure they will like you!" Fubuki confidently answered.
"Ah... I hope so..." Ayumi said while feeling nervous at their meeting.
She wants to meet them, but she was also hesitant to do so. She still feels she is a bit lacking and she doesn't deserve to even meet up with those amazing girls.
But that's just her thoughts.
"... Let's play a game." Ayumi suddenly uttered.
"Hm? Sure." Fubuki accepted her proposal.
The both of them go to the cabin where some people are sitting on the chairs. Seeing some seats that are free, the both of them sits there and opened their mobiles to play a game.
Ayumi was getting bored looking at the skies and the sea. Other people will say that it was an amazing sight but for Ayumi, it's just the same as what she sees on the internet.
The both of them busied themselves on a co-op game as they wait for themselves to arrive in their destination.
It was already sunset when they finally arrived at their destination.
"So this is this world's Nishinoomote huh..." Ayumi muttered to herself as she looks at it.
She doesn't know the look of Nishinoomote in her past life, but she thinks this place is a bit different than the one in her past life. That's just her gut instinct.
"Anyway, let's find a hotel to stay in. Then we can look for your friends tomorrow before going to Nakatane." Ayumi said her plans to Fubuki.
"Hmm... we won't stay in this city?" Fubuki ask while feeling a bit sad about it.
"... Well, I was also here to meet up with Matsuri-san and I think she was on Nakatane so I want to go there." Ayumi said to her.
"Okay." Fubuki easily accepted her reasoning.
The both of them walks around the streets of Nishinoomote while looking at their surroundings. They are looking for a hotel where they can stay for a single night.
Ayumi can't help but notice as Fubuki's gaze always goes to the stalls surrounding the place.
'Ah right... it's that weird local festival now...' Ayumi thought to herself as she looks at the people everywhere.
A lot of people are walking around in a boisterous mood. Most of them are wearing traditional clothing for a festival while some are obviously tourists who just came here to participate.
As Ayumi saw Fubuki's glances on the stalls, she also felt like trying it out.
"Okay, after we check in on a hotel, why don't we try going to some of the stalls for a bit?" Ayumi said to Fubuki, which causes Fubuki's ears to perk up.
"Really!?" She asks with her shining gaze now pointed at Ayumi.
She looks like a cute pet fox who was looking at a food in anticipation.
"... Y-yes..." Ayumi stuttered. 'So cute!' She thought to herself as she tries to move her gaze elsewhere, her cheeks growing a bit red.
"Yay!~" Fubuki exclaimed in happiness. "Okay, let's find our hotel immediately so we can try out those shooting stalls!" She declared as she holds onto Ayumi's wrist and pull her with a quick gait.
"Ah... your a bit too fast!" Ayumi tried to warn her but she still let her be led by Fubuki.
"Please enjoy your stay!" The receptionist of this hotel said.
"Yes." Ayumi said to the receptionist. "Then, we will be going out for a bit." Ayumi said.
"Yes. Your room is ready anytime." The receptionist said in her way.
Ayumi and Fubuki doesn't need to go to their room to check on it. Most hotels these days uses the citizen's ID on their computer to know if they are still staying on a certain room or not. So if she come back here, the receptionist can just check on the list of customers they have and tell them the number where they should be staying. It's as easy as that.
So after checking in, the two of them are planning to try out the stalls on the outside.
But before they could get out...
"Ah!" Ayumi heard a familiar voice behind them.
Looking on that way, she saw girl that was almost at the same height as her. She was a pink haired girl, with a bit of her hair tied on one side. There are streaks of aquamarine on her hair. She also have a beautiful pair of pinkish eyes. She was wearing a whitebrim that have a symbol of an anchor in it, and a purple Yukata that somehow resembled a maidservant of an inn.
Behind her are some girls who are also familiar to Ayumi. In fact, she was surprised because there are some girls there who she recalls but was not expecting to be along with Aqua.
Yes, it's Minato Aqua and her friends.
It seems like Aqua was wearing a dress that was appropriate for the festival, unlike the others who are wearing some casual clothes.
'These are Minato-san, Murasaki-san, Uruha-san, and Nakiri-san.' Ayumi thought to herself before looking at the other three person behind them. 'And I think she is Yuzuki-san. And isn't that Tokoyami-san?' She thought before looking at the girl who was being carried behind the blonde haired woman. 'But who is that red headed girl!?' She thought in confusion.
"Oh, Aqua." Fubuki casually called her back when she notices her.
"Is that your new friend Aqua?" Shion, the one besides Aqua, asks as she looks at her. "I didn't thought she was a part of the supernatural side." She muttered to herself.
"... Y-yes..." Aqua stuttered in embarrassment.
It seems like she is not good at talking to strangers, even if they are friends on the internet.
"Oi! Don't hide behind me!" Shion said angrily as she tries to take Aqua out of her back when she saw her coming behind her.
"A-ah... sorry, yes... I am Minato Aqua." She said that in a monologue.
"Your voice is too low! Oi!" Shion can't help but rebuked her friend again.
"Ah it's fine." Fubuki simply said before moving closer to them. "I am Shirakami Fubuki!~ Nice to meet you all!~" She introduces herself to the party.

Almost all of them greeted her back.
"Hey, since your here anyway, why don't you join us!" That was Ayame, a silver haired girl who was strangely wearing a traditional black and red kimono, said in enthusiasm.
"Great." Fubuki said before she looks back at Ayumi. "But before that, let me introduce you to my best friend." She said as she steps back a little so they can see Ayumi's form. "She is Hoshimachi Ayumi, the one I kept telling you about."
All of their gazes are now pointed at Ayumi. Ayumi was still preparing herself to speak to them when Fubuki pass their attention to her.
'Eh!?' Ayumi can only cry in her mind as she was still unprepared.
