Chapter 40 : Their Reason (1)
August 2020.
"I am sorry Mr. Kinsaku."
"W-what!?" The guy yelled in anger and grief as he grabs the collar of the doctor. "What do you mean sorry!?" He asks while trembling in anger.
"We are sorry Mr. Kinsaku. We have tried everything..."
"BULLSHIT!" In anger, he punches the doctor.
This causes the security to storm inside and capture him to stop him.
"Do something! Do everything you can! Can't you understand!? She's the only one left for me!" The guy cried in grief and anger. "Do anything! I don't want her to die like this!" He yelled with some tears coming out of his eyes as he pleaded.
But the doctor who was punched just stood up and gave another apology on his way before he turned his back against him.
With that, his daughter was lost...
... But it changes on that night when a girl appeared before him.
"Would you like to save your daughter?" She asks with a sweet tone.
"... I don't have time for this crap. Leave me alone, fairy!" He growled in a threatening manner.
"Oh my, so you don't want to save your daughter?~" She asks in a sing song tone?
"... Of course I want to... but I am sure this is just another prank from your kind... I'll never entrust my daughter to you!" He answered in finality.
"Are you sure about that?" The girl asks in mirth. "Then, what if we made an Agreement?"
"Hah! You won't foo-"
"The Fairy King's Covenant." The girl finish with that sentence.
The guy was surprised when he heard what she promised. That covenant is the highest form of contract for the fairies. They are essentially swearing on the name of the Father of All Fairies, Fairy King Oberon. A contract must always be of perceived equal value between the two parties. Failure to comply will cause the other party to be punished by a grave misfortune. It varies from bankruptcy to a horrible death because of a cataclysmic disaster.
A fairy using this type of Geass is essentially saying that they are giving their life as a form of trust to the other party.
The guy thinks about it for awhile before he looks at her straight in the eye.
"... What do you want?"
"I want your cooperation. A field for us fairies to play. In exchange, I will revive your daughter." The fairy declared her offer.
"... Is that all?"
"Of course. Though, your daughter won't be the same anymore if I revive her..." The girl notify him with a casual tone.
"... What will happen to her?"
"Simple. She will become our kin." The girl simply answered.
The guy thinks about it for awhile before he took a deep breath.
'I know that it will make me the enemy of the nation if I do this. I will be giving up on the work that I painstakingly work hard for in all of my life.' He thought to himself before he stared at the girl in the eyes with determination and longing. 'Even so, I have decided to do it. This time, I will give my daughter everything so she will be happy. She will never be sad to the point of causing her suicide.' He thought to himself before he presented his hand on the fairy. "I will take the deal."
"I am grateful for your choice. Let's have a long term friendship with this point as the start." The girl said with a smile as she took his hand and shakes it.
'This is wrong on my ethics as one of the protectors of this nation.' He thought to himself. 'But, I will choose my family over my work now. I'll never be the neglectful father, ever!' He declared internally in determination.
In a sudden movement, Kiritsuba draws his gun and pointed it at Aqua.
Which would have happened but before he managed to take aim at her way, Aqua nimbly moves diagonally and kick the gun out of his hand.
This should have been impossible for a girl of her size and weight, but she easily manages to kick the gun he was wielding.
This is surprising because Kiritsuba was using Reinforcement. It's a basic magic that can enhance the capabilities of a single thing or a person. He should have a strength that equals that of a peak human with that spell.
But Aqua was pretty abnormal for herself. She was really good at unarmed combat that she can easily hit the weak point of any body parts of a person. And to make it better, she was in possession of some ridiculous items that her friends have personally enchanted for her.
Her straw sandals that she always pair for her festival and new year outfit have been enchanted to make it more comfortable to wear. As for combat, a lot of useful things are put in it, with one of it being an increase in leg strength.
It's not just her sandals though. Everything she wears, even the whitebrim that was becoming iconic to her was also enchanted to exaggeration. It's to the point that each piece of her clothing can be considered legendary on this world.
So he felt it a lot when Aqua kicks the gun away from his hand.
But Kiritsuba wasn't done yet. He quickly took a step back as he was pointing his hand at Aqua's direction like he was still holding a gun.
Then suddenly, the gun that was kicked away from his hand suddenly reappeared on his hand that was pointing at Aqua.
This gun was a specialized gun that he bonded to him through a Soul Enchantment. It was a type of enchantment that bounded an item to the one who owns it.
The gun have some special properties that can shoot through spirits and also harm a soul if shot from a living being.
Kiritsuba was an Onmyou, a type of exorcist solely existing on Japan. He was well versed in the use of spiritual energy. He can also use some basic magic, though it was pretty hard because he was supplementing his magic with spiritual power instead of mana.
It was a good thing to him that the spiritual power and mana have some identical signature. Spiritual Energy can also be considered the life force of a living being while Mana can be considered as the life force of the Planet.
So even if he is incompatible to magic, he can still use some of it's basic because of the Spiritual Energy and Mana's comparison.
As he prepared to take a shot, Aqua quickly moves diagonally, before changing directions as she gets closer to him.
When he shots on her way, he misses.
When he tried to trail her movements to shoot her once again, Aqua got close enough to engage in a melee combat.
"Tch!" He clicked his tongue before rolling to the side to evade Aqua's swipe of her Keris.
When he tries to stand up, he was quickly met with a sandal coming closer to his vision.
"Guh!?" He grunted in pain as he was hit by Aqua's follow up kick.
As he rolled on the floor on a bit and tries to stand, he saw that Aqua was looking on his way again without following up with her attacks.
"I might be an outsider to this but I think you really should stop doing this nonsense." Aqua said to the guy as she relaxes her stance. "It will be too sad if you keep doing this. She will have a bad life, you know?" She continued with that kind of advice.
For Aqua, she thinks she was giving a great advice to him so he can take care of his "Daughter" that was currently in her delusional phase.
"Silence! You have no right to say something you didn't even know!" He yelled in anger before shooting his gun on her way.
Aqua was pretty quick as she saw where he was aiming. She easily dodges it by just doing some side steps. Then she took a sprint to disarm him once again.
Kiritsuba was trying hard to hit Aqua but it was all futile. He can't even take a hit.
When Aqua got closer, she grabs his arm that was holding the gun in a vice like manner, raise it for a bit, before she twisted it for a bit as she uses her full strength to force his wrist down.
"Ghk!?" He grunted in pain once again as he felt some searing pain on his wrist. "Oraaaaaaaaaa!" But he tried to knee her after he took a moment to recover himself.
But it seems like Aqua was expecting that because she took a step back, avoiding his knee strike. Then she swings her Keris on his stomach with a dash.
Because he was still in the middle of orienting himself after that knee strike, so he was still not on the position to dodge. But he did the next best thing to counterattack. His leg that was still in the position of a knee strike was stretched, doing a follow up straight kick on Aqua's way. It will strike true on Aqua's head who was currently sprinting on his way.
But Aqua manages to dodge his kick by just tilting her head to the side. It slightly grazes her cheeks but she wasn't harmed by any means.
Aqua's plan to strike his stomach changes to using her free hand to grab his overextended leg.
Then she raises his leg in a bit that it surpass her height before pushing it sideways, causing him to stumble in disorientation.
When he was just going to fall down, Aqua also kick him on his back, causing him to plant his face straight on the ground.
"Ugh!?" He tried to get his bearings but he felt an arm holding the hand that was holding onto his gun.
Then suddenly, he felt a stinging pain from the arm that was being hold behind him.
What Aqua was doing is an arm lock. With her instinctive talent on close combat, she can easily do this and make her opponents hopeless in seconds.
And it was showing because Kiritsuba can't even feel his arm that was holding onto his gun.
He tried to change the position of his gun by teleporting it on his free hand. He manages to do that. But when he tries to take aim behind him where he thinks Aqua was currently positioned, he felt him straddling his back and the hand that was currently holding the gun was stepped on by Aqua's feet.
The angle of her step is pretty perfect because he can feel a lot of pain in his hand. It's like he was being needled from every part of his hand.
"Aaaah!" He cried in pain before he bits his lips to stop himself.
"Come on, just stop it." Aqua said to discourage him.
"I can't stop!" He said as he tries to struggle out of her grasps. "It's impossible to do so!" He yelled in anger.
"What are you talking about?" Aqua ask with an honest confusion.
"Don't play dumb!" Kiritsuba yelled in anger, thinking that Aqua was mocking him. "I know that you know what I am talking about!" He yelled in anger at her way.
"... We're just talking about your daughter right?" Aqua answered while feeling confused about this.
"Then you should know why I am doing this!" Kiritsuba said in anger. "I have no other choice but to do it this way!" He said with some desperation in his tone.
For him, what he did is all for the sake of his daughter.
He was trying to atone for his sin by giving everything he have for his daughter. He will sacrifice everything just for his daughter.
Because for him, he was the reason that she died on that day. Without any knowledge that he was doing it. Because he chose his duty for the nation other than his duty as a father.
Resurrection is impossible for a human like him. He also doesn't want to turn his daughter into an undead. But by being a fairy, he thinks that even if his daughter doesn't remember him anymore, at least she will be happy with her life.
Happier than the one when she was still a human.
Aqua didn't understand this. She is thinking that he was just making a sorry excuse just to turn his "Daughter" into a delusional person like him.
Aqua was just going to rebuke his words again when she felt something besides her. She quickly trusted her instinct and jumps away from her straddling position.
A white blur passes through her, causing Aqua to be surprised.
"That's why... I will never stop." Kiritsuba finishes his sentence as he slowly stood up.
He patted his suit before taking aim at Aqua.
Besides him is a small white fox wearing a traditional white mask on it's face.
"What's that?" Aqua ask in confusion.
"This is my Shikigami. I am sure you know what type of Shikigami it is." The guy replied as he trained his sights on Aqua. "I am sorry Minato Aqua. But I am afraid I won't just let you win that easily against me." He said to her with a determined expression.
"... Ugh, so another weird animal..." Aqua muttered to herself as she glance at the little white fox.
"Pipe Fox, distract her!" Kiritsuba ordered his familiar while he was preparing to shoot on Aqua's way.
Aqua quickly moves out of the way before the shots hits her.
While getting closer to Kiritsuba, the Pipe Fox was getting closer to her. When it lunges at her with a speed faster than what the naked eye can process, Aqua easily swatted it away with her Keris.
Then she did some surprising flexible acrobatics before getting closer to Kiritsuba after doing a backflip. Using her Keris, she did an upper stabbing strike targeting Kiritsuba's neck.
Kiritsuba dodges it with a tilt of his head, then he steps to the side a bit more when Aqua followed it up with a swing.
Before Aqua can continue, she steps back for a bit and tilt her head back before a white blur passes inches from her face. Then that white fox created three blue floating fires and shoots it at her way mid-flight.
Aqua just slashes through it with her Keris, then she roll out of the way before she was hit by the shots made by Kiritsuba, who manages to orient himself after his Shikigami gave himself sometime by distracting Aqua.
He tried to shoot her a bit more, expelling his spiritual energy to make his shots much stronger.
But much to his chagrin, Aqua just managed to dodge all of his shots. Even with the help of his familiar, she is easily repelling it by swatting it or throwing it out on the floor.
'This is getting us nowhere!' Kiritsuba thought in impatience. 'It seems like I have no choice but to use that!' He decided internally as he stops using his soul bounded gun.
Then he took a lot of amulets that was hidden inside his suit. Then he lets it float on the air, arranging itself in a circular manner in front of him.
Aqua glances at that before she takes her focus back on the fox that kept attacking her.
'Ugh... why do all these delusional people always have these smart tamed pets! Where do I get one!?' Aqua thought in jealousy as she tries to dodge of the Pipe Fox's lunges.
She thinks that all the mythical and supernatural beasts that she encountered are just those normal animals who might have some sort of mutation on them. She sometimes watches some documentary shows and she saw some weird creatures being featured on those shows. So she thinks what she is encountering are just like those creatures that were always featured on those shows.
The Pipe Fox lunges at her way again. Though Aqua can easily follow it's movements thanks to the enchantments of her dress.
Aqua decided to use a thing that she always uses on furry animals.
She took something out of her satchel.
When the Pipe Fox got near her, she easily sidesteps and the swipes the thing she took from her satchel onto the fox.
"!?"
The fox's furs trembled in delight as it comes to a crawl. When it landed on the ground, it slowly loses the strength of it's legs and then it shows it's tummy.
Aqua kneeled besides that fox and tickled it with the thing that she took on her satchel.
That thing is a brush that shimmers a beautiful dim light even in this moonlit darkness.
This brush is called the Dragon's Submission Brush. It was a brush made from the hair of a certain dragon. This was gifted to Aqua by a certain Yakuza loving girl.
The effect of this brush is to make any living beings submit to it's touch. Making all of them docile to the one who is using it.
Though for Aqua, she thinks it was just a good brush for calming down animals.
"Okay okay, who's the good boy? Who's the good boy? You are right!~" Aqua cooed at the masked fox as she tickled it's tummies.
This makes the fox melt in bliss as it felt the most pleasurable tickling in it's life.
"Now then, one down. Your turn!" Aqua said as she stops tickling it.
It seems like the Pipe Fox was now unconscious due to being too happy.
Aqua's attention then turned to Kiritsuba.
'Amazing, I don't know how he was doing that magic trick. I really wonder why he would stick to his delusional nonsense when he can just use his talent to become a popular street performer.' Aqua thought to herself.
She just waited for him to finish what he was doing. She wasn't really worried about what he was going to do. Unlike his toy gun (she thinks), this magic trick won't do any harm at all (in her mind).
Seeing her standing there like that with a casual poise like she doesn't even care about him pisses Kiritsuba.
"Don't underestimate me just because your one of the strongest faction leaders. I am still a Section Leader of this nation!" He stated coldly in her way as he finishes his ritual. "I will show you the power of an elite Onmyou!" He stated as he made some hand signs.
The papers encircling him moves in an erratic manner before they shined an otherworldly glow. Then these amulets aligned themselves on the whole room in the form of a star as the whole area shines in brightness.
"[Kaminari Fuuin「Thunder God's Seal」]"
The whole area becomes brighter and brighter as the whole room was filled with a spark.
Then the whole room was bombarded with a localized electricity easily reaching fifty billion megavolts. This pulse of destruction that will fry even the particles bombarded this whole area in a consecutive wave of destruction as it fries everything in it's wake. It was only thanks to the esoteric nature of this type of ritual that the destruction was limited to this area only.
If he doesn't care about the environmental damage and the casualties (including himself), he would have finish that ritual much faster and the whole Nishinoomote will vanish in the face of this planet.
He was one of ten strongest Onmyou in Japan. Other than spiritual arts, he can also use his spirit to call upon the higher power. And he have enough spiritual power to harness some of the powers from the higher ranking gods of Shintoism.
After a few seconds, the room slowly loses it's brilliance. The whole air smelled of intense ozone.
In the middle of this room is Kiritsuba who was just standing there while having some difficulty on breathing.
Even when he was hailed as one of the best Onmyou, he is also too old to be doing those rituals. He was already pass his prime. So with that single ritual, he quickly became exhausted.
"Haa... haa... young people these days... doesn't know how to respect elders..." He muttered to himself as he internally mocks Aqua for underestimating him.
Then he heard a loud smack before he saw himself staring at the blackened ceiling of his now charcoaled office.
As he tries to process what just happen, he saw Aqua appear besides his vision looking down on him.
"... Ah..."
He finally realized why he was staring at the ceiling.
He was laid flat on the ground and he felt a pain in his head where he thinks he was hit by his assailant.
"Hey... is it really necessary to make it that bright? Do you want to get blind?" Aqua said to her with a deadpan stare as she looks down on him.
"... How?"
"... What how?" Aqua asks with a tilt of her head.
"How did you survive?" Kiritsuba asks weakly as he felt his body becoming more heavy.
He has already reaches his limit. The only thing he can do is rest his body and hope that no one attacks him in his sleep.
"Hmm... that flashy super attack?" Aqua said before she try to recall about it. "Well, in your chuuni terms, I think this wavy knife makes it possible for me to survive anything. Or that's what Shion told me of it's background." Aqua said as she shows her Keris to the old man.
He stares at the weapon she was holding in curiosity. Then it turned into confusion as he can't recall anything about the Kris.
"What kind of Kris is that?" He asks in exhaustion.
"This?" Aqua said before she took a pose, having the mood to do some roleplaying. "This is Anya Melfissa! The hidden Keris made in the image of all the Kris in the Javanese legends!" Aqua said in a proud expression. "... Well, that was what Shion told me anyway..." She honestly said with her shoulders slumped in shame.
She really thinks that the toy (she thinks) have a really edgy feeling to it. It have a cute name, but it seems like it have all the mystical abilities that a Kris was known to have all over the legends that originated on Java. This includes all the curses and the blessings that a Kris was stated to have.
One of the abilities of Anya Melfissa is to make it's wearer invulnerable to any physical harm. This is why Aqua wasn't affected by his strongest ability.
"I see..." He said while feeling regret at his loss. "... That's why I lost..." He muttered to himself in depression.
He knew that this is the end. A Faction Leader have defeated him. He was sure that he will be dealt with at this part, or if he was spared, he will be surrendered to the Japanese Government, making all his secret dealings become public to his colleagues.
All of this will lead to his death. The latter one was much worse because of his contract with Doris. If he can't take his end of the deal, he will suffer a penalty from their contract. This will surely kill him if not cripple him. He was scared that it might even involve his daughter, who doesn't even have a memory of him.
The contract will end if both parties have fulfilled their goals. But their agreement was a type of agreement that will come until the end of either one's life. The other way to end the contract is if one of the party who participated in the contract dies. This will null the agreement stated from the Fairy King's Covenant.
So he have decided. He will let Aqua kill him. He won't choose a life where his daughter might get involved.
"Kill me." He muttered to Aqua in a weak voice.
"... Okay." Aqua shrugs as she look at her satchel.
She puts back the brush on the satchel before taking something else. Then she put her Keris on her Keris Sheath that was hidden on her thighs inside her Yukata. After that, she pointed the thing that she have taken from her satchel.
Seeing her actions, Kiritsuba smiled with a regretful feeling before he slowly closes his eyes.
Only to be surprised by the cold feeling of water pouring on his face.
"Guh!?" He immediately stood up in a startle before looking at Aqua. "What are you... wait... how did you...!?" He asks in shock as he felt his body turning better once again.
"There, your done!" Aqua said as she rolled the water gun that she was holding and then blows on it's muzzle before she puts it on her satchel. "With that, I won!" Aqua said with a proud expression.
"What did you do!?" Kiritsuba asks in confusion as he felt somewhat light in his heart again.
It's like the heavy feeling he have when he started making a contract with Doris was completely gone.
'... Gone? The spiritual imprint of the Fairy King is gone on my soul!?' He thought in surprise.
"I told you, I defeated you. I've use my strongest gun ever!" Aqua said in eagerness as she took the gun out of her satchel and showed it to him. "This is the Rosenthal Mk I Pistol! A type of high action water pistol that can shoot up to three times in a single second! It have bang mode, the pew pew mode, and the bam mode! It can even be loaded with any types of bullets like pellets, plain water, paper, and even Nerf bullets!" Aqua said all of that in excitement.
Aqua, while being shy to others and also hates some of the antics of those delusional people (she thinks), she have a strange affliction of being eager when it comes to cool limited things that she have. One of it being this pistol that was given to her by a certain self-proclaimed elf, who was currently staying near her house on the Minato Ward.
This pistol was only one of a kind thing because only that self-proclaimed elf is the only one who is producing this stuff. And she have a good designing skills so Aqua likes a lot of her stuff.
Even the satchel that Aqua was using was made by that self-proclaimed elf. The satchel can easily hold any items with a limit of a 100km x 100km x 100km in length.
Though Aqua didn't know that this gun was pretty advanced even with the people from the Other Side. This gun have the capability to turn anything into it's bullet. Even air or light can be used as her bullet.
As to the bullet she use. She didn't know that the water that she is using is the water from the Fountain of Youth, that was personally owned by the Fairy Queen herself, Titania.
The fairies that she was acquainted that Aqua was talking about are the Fairy Queen and the Fairy King themselves. Titania and Oberon.
Titania's authority negates any authorities of Oberon. It was also the case for Oberon when going against Titania's authority.
That's why, the water that she shoots at him negates the Geass imprinted into his soul.
"Why did you do this?" He asks in a confused expression.
He thinks Aqua was helping him and he doesn't know what her reason for it to do so.
"Anyway. Just stop doing this nonsense or I'll seriously beat you up!" Aqua said it like that. "Just do it for your daughter's sake, okay?" Aqua said with a smile on his way.
Kiritsuba looks at her for awhile before he did a dogeza. This causes Aqua to become shock and her bravado was slowly crumbling as she became timid once again.
"Thank you! Thank you for giving me this chance! I apologize for doing all of these for my selfish reasons!" He said that with a moved feeling.
"F-fueeee!?"
"I will make sure to atone for my sins! That's why, I am thankful for your mercy!" He said all of that with a heartfelt feeling.
Aqua saves him. This is what he thought of her.
Even when he sacrifices the many citizens of Japan just for the whims of a fairy, he was doing it because of a deal he made just to revive his daughter.
He wants his daughter to be happy, but he was slowly crumbling in guilt as he throws the unassuming people to the games that the fairies made. And his daughter was even a participant to it.
It was all for fun. He thinks. His daughter wants to have fun. He haven't given her enough attention so she did a suicide. So he thinks this time, he needs to give her everything she wants even if it's morally questionable.
But Aqua has shown him that he was doing it the wrong way. He needs to make up for his mistake.
It might hurt his heart to take his daughter's fun, but he doesn't want to waste the second chance that Aqua gave him to correct his actions.
'Why is he doing a dogeza!?' Aqua was confused about what is happening though.
"Who are you?" Ayumi asks to the fairy in the middle.
"Insolence! Speaking without my permission!" The blonde haired ringlet fairy said in indignation. "But well, I am a merciful princess so you are forgiven!" The girl said with a cheeky expression. "Yours truly is Princess Himeragi. You may refer to me as Your Highness or Princess!" She declared with her chest puffed up.
Ayumi can only took a moment to process what she says before she looks at her again.
'Somehow, I felt that this will be troublesome.' She thought internally.

Sorry for the long delay. And yes, that's not Queen Doris but another fairy entirely.
I thought it was obvious because I even made sure to separate how they are referred. Doris was referred as a Queen or Her Majesty while Himeragi was referred as Her Highness or just the little princess.
There is someone who asks me if I was going to put Nijisanji, VOMS_Project, etc. My answer to that is maybe...
Well, I was slowly learning about the other factions. So I am not sure if they will appear here or not.
If they are... oh god, I might just lament my suffering for putting everyone in this setting without messing with their background too much...
I am not sure. My whims are more powerful than my rational self after all...
