~~~Chapter Thirty-Eight~~~
~~~Previous~~~
Outside, on a glider, Tuxedo Mask and Celestia are flying it and heading towards Prince Demande's base.
Inside, Prince Demande is still holding onto Usagi's face. "This beautiful planet will belong to the one with the greater power. That is only natural."
"That way of thinking is wrong!" Usagi scolds weakly.
He lifts Usagi's chin and leans down. Usagi tries to move her face away but he moves it back. "I wanted to make you mine, no matter what I had to do." His eye appears on his forehead and releases energy causing Usagi to be frozen in place. "Neo-Queen Serenity. Finally, I have you."
Outside, Tuxedo Mask and Celestia land. "Usagi!" Celestia calls out.
Inside, Usagi's eyes widen slightly. Nee-chan? Did I just imagine hearing that? We're too far apart, I should be hearing her voice. I'm scared. I can't even transform. I'm really all alone. Nee-chan… Help me!
Outside, Celestia's eyes flash along with her crescent moon.
Inside, a barrier forms around Usagi and it sends Prince Demande flying backwards. "What?!" He demands.
He looks up and his eyes widen when he sees the image of both Sailor Celestia and Eternal Queen Serenity behind Usagi, glaring at him with her cold eyes. Usagi begins to fall and luckily lands back on the bed.
"Who's there?!" Prince Demande demands as he looks up.
~~~Selena's POV~~~
Usagi sees the pair of us. "Nee-chan! Tuxedo Mask-sama!"
"Trying to force my imotou to become yours by using your evil powers is unforgivable!" I shout angrily with a glare on my face.
"You underhanded devil, I can't forgive you!" Mamo-chan adds.
"Do not be so conceited." He shouts. His eye appears and he releases energy towards us. Mamo-chan wraps his cape around us to block it. Energy appears and it distracts him. Mamo-chan removes his cape and holds out his cane. "Come, Usagi!" I call out.
Usagi grabs it and the cane retracts in size and she makes it on the window with us. "Nee-chan!" Usagi cries as she throws herself at me.
"Shh! It's alright now. Let's get out of here, okay?" I comment softly, patting her back.
"Yeah." Usagi nods her head.
"Stop!" He calls out.
~~~3rd POV~~~
Outside, Esmeraude watches as the three of them fly back to Crystal Place on the glider. Saphir appears behind her. "Esmeraude. I hope you did not get in my nii-san's way and let those three get away."
She lifts her fan and places it in front of her mouth, which is smirking. "Me? Let the enemy get away? Why would I do such a thing?"
"Women are frightening, unpredictable creatures when they become made with jealously. Aren't you enjoying the fact that Sailor Moon got away from my nii-san's grasp?" He states.
Esmeraude blinks her eyes before laughing loudly. "I am a woman, who pleaded my loyalty to Prince Demande!" She places her fan in front of her mouth. "I would never do something against his wishes." She laughs again.
A smirk appears on Saphir's face. "We share the same sentiments. Do you think I don't understand how you feel?"
"What?!" Esmeraude questions.
Saphir lifts his clenched fist. "I also hate Sailor Moon!"
She looks at him and a smirk appears on her face. "I see. So, we are alike."
They both look back at the Crystal Palace.
~~~Selena's POV~~~
We make it back inside the Crystal Palace and land the glider. Usagi throws herself back into my arms. "Nee-chan, I was scared. He tries to kiss me. You said only my soulmate is allowed to do that."
"Shh, it's alright. He didn't manage to do such a thing. Calm down." I comment softly.
Usagi nods her head. "Yeah…"
Suddenly, a cold burst of wind rushes past. We all look to see that it is snowing heavily. We share a look. The weather is getting worse.
~~~Present~~~
~~~3rd POV~~~
Prince Demande, Saphir and Esmeraude appear in the same room. Prince Demande turns to look at the pair of them with his arms folded across his chest. "Saphir, turn the maximum power output of the Evil Black Crystal on the Crystal Palace on Earth. As soon as everything is ready, we will descend to Earth once again."
"Nii-san!" Saphir calls out as he moves near him. Prince Demande closes his eyes. "Neo-Queen Serenity has refused to kneel before you now, even as she did in the past! Not to mention, she has Eternal Queen Serenity always protecting her with her energy."
Prince Demande opens his eyes and glares at Saphir with cold eyes. "Saphir!"
"You have forgotten the ultimate objective of the Dark Moon clan. The bitter grudge of our ancestors, who had no choice but to leave that beautiful Earth and come to live here on Nemesis." Saphir walks away before turning and gazing at Prince Demande's back with his arms held out at his sides. "I have not forgotten our plan to avenge them by altering Earth's history!"
Prince Demande clenches his fist before he abruptly turns away. He lifts his hand and releases energy from it. The energy hits Saphir and sends him backwards slightly before Saphir gain his balance and comes to a stop.
"Prince Demande!" Esmeraude calls out in disbelief.
"If you have time to lecture me, hurry up and start adjusting the reactor for the Evil Black Crystal!"
Saphir looks back at him, his body shaking due to the pain he is in. "Nii-san…" He looks up at the hologram that is showing the image of Eternal Queen Serenity and Neo Queen Serenity.
Prince Demande gazes up at Neo-Queen Serenity's image. "Neo-Queen Serenity…I will make her mine, no matter what."
Esmeraude looks at the same image, clenching her teeth in annoyance.
~~~With the Girls ~~~
We head back to the others and we are taken closer to the Crystal Palace.
"So, this is the Crystal Palace." Minako mutters as she looks up.
"It's almost frighteningly quiet here," Makoto admits. "Was every last person in this palace really killed?"
"But if this palace was protected by the Phantom Silver Crystal's, this place should not have been damaged so easily!" Luna points out confused.
Artemis looks at Luna. "I wonder what the hell happened to the Silver Crystal's in this world?"
Luna-P falls from Chibi-Usa's hand and drops to the floor.
Ami kneels and picks Luna-P up. "Chibi-Usa-chan, what's the matter?"
Chibi-Usa takes Luna-P from her and places her face against it and keeps her head lowered.
"I wonder if Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Celestia and Sailor Moon are all right?" Crescent queries.
Rei looks up with a clenched fist. "Now, let's go save them!"
"Mars!" Luna calls out, getting her to stop.
Rei stops and turns back to see King Endymion walking out of the shadows. "King Endymion!"
He touches one of the small building replicators in front of him. "Look, sailor senshi." On the screen, it shows Tuxedo Mask with Sailor Celestia next to him and Sailor Moon holding onto her running.
"Sailor Celestia! Sailor Moon!" They all call out in relief.
~~~Selena's POV~~~
We make it back to the Crystal Palace. As we walk up the steps, Luna, Crescent, Artemis and Yue rush towards us. "Sailor Moon!" Luna and Artemis call out.
"Sailor Celestia!" Crescent and Yue call out.
Ami-chan, Rei, Minako-chan and Mako-chan run over. "Sailor Moon! Sailor Celestia!"
Usagi lunges forward taking me with her and we all end up hugging. "Everyone!" We call back.
Usagi lifts her head. "I'm so glad to see you again!" She looks at the girls one by one. "Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Mars…" She trails off and she begins crying.
"There you go, crying again!" Rei scolds. "Be strong! The battle is still ahead of us!"
"Mars is mad at me!" Usagi cries.
"No, I'm not mad!" Rei denies. "I'm just giving you a pep talk!"
"See?! You're mad at me again!" Usagi points out.
"Oh, come on," Rei says with a sigh.
We head through a pair of doors. Inside, there is the large crystal with Eternal and Neo Queen Serenity asleep inside.
Usagi takes a step forward. "These people…"
"They are the Queen's who governs Crystal Tokyo, Eternal Queen Serenity and Neo Queen Serenity. They are my wife and sister-in-law." King Endymion comments.
"Mama!" Chibi-Usa, Selene and Teddy call out as they rush towards the crystal, placing their hands against it. "We brought Sailor Moon and Sailor Celestia-sama and her friends from the world of the past!" Chibi-Usa states.
"Mama, please open your eyes!" The three of them cry, tears in their eyes.
"King, why did the Queen's become like that?" Mamo-chan questions.
"Are the Queen's still alive?" Minako-chan queries.
"I do not know." King Endymion admits. "If only we had not lost the Phantom Silver Crystal's, we would have had one last hope, but…"
I see Chibi-Usa flinch and hear her let out a low gasp. I see Selene and Teddy look at her and let out a low sigh. I narrow my eyes slightly before looking at Mako-chan who is speaking to King Endymion.
"The Silver Crystal's were lost? How?"
"I do not know that either." He admits with a sigh. "I can only think that they were taken somehow just before the Dark Moon's clan began to attack."
"But if it's the Silver Crystal's, Sailor Moon and Sailor Celestia has one, too." Rei points out.
Usagi places a hand on her brooch. "Will I be able to wake up the Queen's with my Silver Crystal?"
"Give it a try!" Luna offers.
"Sailor Moon! Sailor Celestia!" Artemis calls out.
"Have confidence in yourself, Celestia! Sailor Moon!" Mamo-chan encourages.
Usagi and I share a look. "Yes!"
We turn to look at where the Queen's are resting. "Moon Crystal Power!" We both call out.
Pink and silver energy is released from our Silver Crystal's. The energy rains down on the Queen's but nothing happens. They are still asleep.
"They didn't respond to it at all," Ami-chan exclaims surprised.
"So, they can't…Even Sailor Moon and Sailor Celestia-sama can't save my mama and oba." Chibi-Usa mutters.
She turns around and runs in the other direction just as Usagi begins to fall. Luckily, the girls catch her. I sway slightly but Mamo-chan catches me and I let out a sigh. Usagi gets up and looks at Chibi-Usa. "Chibi-Usa!" She calls out.
Mamo-chan holds out his free arm. "Let her be by herself for now. She will be safe as long as she is inside this palace."
~~~3rd POV~~~
Chibi-Usa walks outside, wiping her eyes with her sleeve. "Mama…"
She heads to the destroyed park and sits on the swing. "Mama, Oba, what should I do?"
Just then, there is a low male chuckle. Chibi-Usa abruptly looks up. "Who's there?!"
Energy comes from the sky. Wiseman appears. "I foresee that the star of my fate is at its most ideal." He points a finger at her. "That is to say, the capture of one of the Rabbits!"
Chibi-Usa gets out of the swing and tries to run back to the palace but she freezes. "I can't move…"
He lets out a chuckle. "It's no use! This place is already within our territory." The surroundings change to darkness. Wiseman's eyes glow. "I see it. The terror lurking in your heart. Abandoned in a corner of your mind, wrapped up in a veil of oblivion, your memory of the Phantom Silver Crystal's…"
"No…No!" Chibi-Usa cries as she places her hands over her ears, Luna-P dropping to the floor. Energy surrounds her as she gets lost in her memories. My wonderful mama. A great queen loved by all.
"Small Lady, you were up to no good again, weren't you?!" A woman scolds as she finds Chibi-Usa standing in front of a broken vase.
"If you keep acting like that, you'll never be a fine lady!" Another woman adds.
"Ha! I will, too!" Chibi-Usa scoffs.
"Small Lady!" A woman scolds.
Chibi-Usa runs off. I want to hurry up and become a lady too. Hurry up and…Hurry up and become a real lady! Just like Mama!
She goes through a set of doors. Inside, both the Silver Crystal's are resting on separate stone pedestals. She lifts Luna-P in her arms, whose eyes glow blue. Just a little white… The pedestals glow in response. I'll only borrow them for a bit! Because if I hold the Phantom Silver Crystal's, I'll get to be like my wonderful mama.
Chibi-Usa picks the Silver Crystal's up. She looks at them with glittering eyes. the Silver Crystal's suddenly begin to glow. No! The Silver Crystal's… When the glow disappears, both Silver Crystal's disappeared. No! Please don't disappear!
The attack begins outside the castle. Inside Neo Queen Serenity runs down the steps and comes to a stop. "Small Lady!" She calls out urgently.
Next, it shows, Neo Queen Serenity being attacked along with Eternal Queen Serenity and then the pair of them being encased in the crystal by the sailor senshi. Mama! Oba!
Next, it shows, King Endymion and King Seiya in the control room before the room is filled with a blast from the attack outside. Papa! Oji!
It then shows the attack on the rest of the city. No! Papa! Mama! Oji! Oba!
Back in the present, Wiseman had seen what happened on that day. "I see. So, the Phantom Silver Crystal's vanished. And fearful of the crime you had committed, you erased the incident from your own memory."
Chibi-Usa shakes her head. "No! It…It wasn't my fault!"
"Well, let's see what they say about it then." He comments.
Chibi-Usa looks up and removes her hands from her ears. "What?"
Sailor Moon appears in front of her. "It's all your fault, Small Lady!"
Sailor Jupiter appears. "It's because you lost the Silver Crystal's."
Sailor Venus appears. "The Queen's went outside the Crystal Place in search of you."
Sailor Mars appears. "That's why they were attacked!"
Sailor Mercury appears. "It's your fault!"
Wiseman tried to get the image of Sailor Celestia to appear but every time her image disappears. He lets out a scoff but doesn't bother to try and have her image appear again.
Chibi-Usa lowers her head and places her hands over her ears again and crouches. "No! No!"
The sailor senshi points a finger at her. "It's your fault! It's your fault!"
"I did nothing wrong! I just touched the Silver Crystal's for a second! It's not my fault!" She denies, shouting.
"It's your fault!" The sailor senshi accuse once more.
"Small Lady!" A female voice calls out.
Chibi-Usa lifts her head to see the image of her mama and oba getting attacked and the sailor senshi protecting them by encasing them inside the crystal. "No! it's not my fault!"
"That is right, Rabbit. You are correct." Wiseman agrees as he floats behind her. "And you must assert your innocence by force."
Chibi-Usa looks up and turns to look at him. "I can do that? I can get everyone to understand me?"
"You will make them understand that you are correct." Wiseman holds out his hand. "Now, take my hand."
Chibi-Usa walks forward, knocking Luna-P out of the way. She reaches her hand out towards his and they clasp hands. As soon as she does, the energy reacts with the Evil Black Crystal.
Saphir is gazing up at it. Esmeraude walks over to him. "My, I wonder, is the reactor for the Evil Black Crystal trembling with the excitement to do battle as well?"
"It is the same as if we were holding a bomb." Saphir states.
"What?" Esmeraude says confused as she looks at him.
"My nii-san does not understand just how dangerous the Evil Black Crystal's power is. We have followed the guidance of that questionable sorcerer, Wiseman but perhaps that path has been mistaken."
Esmeraude lets out a laugh. "Who would ever trust that Wiseman? I'm sure even Prince Demande is well aware of that."
Just then, a hologram of Prince Demande appears in front of them. "Saphir, have you finished preparing the reactor yet?"
"Prince Demande, there is no need for you to use the Evil Black Crystal so wastefully. Please allow Esmeraude to handle this." His image disappears. "Oh, Prince Demande!"
"Nii-san is allowing his emotions to rule him." Saphir points out. He closes his eyes. "If he had never fallen in love with Neo Queen Serenity, we would have killed Sailor Moon and accomplished our goal by now."
Esmeraude throws her fan to the ground. "What are you saying?! It's ridiculous! What's the big deal about that Queen?! If Wiseman is using us, that's fine with me!" She stomps on her fan. "I don't know what his goals are but I will be the one to use him in the end! In order to make Prince Demande's wish come true, the woman who will establish the future with Prince Demande will not be Neo Queen Serenity! It will be me!" She laughs loudly.
Outside, the weather picks up and gets worse. Esmeraude appears inside where Wiseman normally is and looks around. "Wiseman, where are you?! Show yourself!"
There is a female laugh. Esmeraude looks up. "Who's there?! There shouldn't be any more Droids left at this base! Who are you?!"
Energy appears in front of her. "Wiseman!"
Wiseman appears from the floor. "The dead say, 'Anger comes from within and gives you strength'. 'A double-edged sword that bewitches what you hear and what you think.'"
"Are you saying that I just imaged hearing that?" Esmeraude demands angrily. "Well, never mind that. Wiseman, I need your help! I will be personally taking charge of attacking the Crystal Palace. And to do that, I will need a power greater than anything before. I am sure you will be able to give me that."
"Is this an order from the Prince?" He queries.
"No, but if I can settle this conflict, this shouldn't be a bad deal for you." Esmeraude points out.
Wiseman is silent briefly before speaking. "I foresee the image of the queen reigning over the coming future. That is Queen Esmeraude."
Her eyes widen. "Queen?!"
"The difference in power that sets you apart from Neo Queen Serenity is exceedingly slight. In short, with the power of the Evil Black Crystal, you will surpass that Queen."
Esmeraude narrows her eyes. "I will be queen…"
Energy comes from Wiseman's crystal ball. A black crown is formed and it hovers in the air and moves towards Esmeraude."
Esmeraude looks down at it and holds out her hands on either side. "I don't want you to think I can be lured to take the bait so easily, but if it's to win Prince Demande's heart, I would even make a deal with the Devil himself."
She reaches forward and grabs the crown with her hands. Green energy is released from it when she touches it. She lets out a yell as the energy surrounds her body. Her appearance changes slightly when the energy disappears. She is wearing a long purple and black dress and the crown is now resting on her head.
She lets out a loud laugh. "This power brimming within my body! I am indeed the queen of the future! The ruler who will govern the world together with Prince Demande!" She laughs loudly again.
Wiseman looks at her with his eyes glowing. "Are you quite certain of that?"
"What?!" Esmeraude demands. Smoke begins to show around her and she looks down. "What is this?!"
"Did you think that someone like you could handle the true power of the Evil Black Crystal? You shall sacrifice your life for me." He comments.
"Damn you, Wiseman." Esmeraude curses weakly. She lets out a grunt and falls to the ground. "Prince Demande, I wanted to rule the country of the future with you…" She closes her eyes and the smoke covers her whole body.
"Foolish woman." Wiseman comments.
Where Esmeraude is, the surrounding area begins to shake before a crack appears on the black crystal and a large cloud of smoke appears from it. When the smoke disappears, it shows a large dragon with red eyes and hair and the same crown Esmeraude was wearing on the forehead. The dragon lets out a roar before spreading out its wings and disappearing before it reappears flying above the Crystal Palace.
~~~Selena's POV~~~
The building we are in suddenly begins to shake. "Selene, Teddy, come here!" I call out.
They run towards me and I pick them up before running along with the others.
"Oh, no!" Usagi cries as we run.
"What is this?!" Minako-chan queries confused.
On the screen, it shows a large dragon roaring outside the castle.
"What?!" Usagi exclaims surprised.
"You're kidding me, right?" Mako-chan queries in disbelief.
Rei looks at the screen with wide eyes. "We're going to fight that thing?"
"Wait! Do not panic, my friends!" King Endymion states. He presses one of the buttons and information about the dragon's different body parts, such s the head, wings, legs and tail, appears on the screen. "This is…"
Ami-chan looks at the screen with a smile on her face. "What a fantastic technology facility!"
"Look." He zooms into the information about the head. "You must not be deceived by its appearance." It zooms into the crown. "You must have keen sight to ascertain its true form. That dragon is formed by amplified life energy. In other words, the energy of a person's heart."
"A person's heart?" Rei repeats.
Usagi looks at me panicking. "What kind of person's heart would create that kind of monster?!"
"Someone desperate…" I mutter softly.
There is a large crash outside, causing the building to shake. Luna looks up worriedly. "At this rate, it's going to break through the barrier."
Mako-chan holds up a clenched fist. "We have no choice, but to go outside and draw the dragon's attention away."
Usagi lowers her head sweatdropping. "I knew it…"
"Anyway, let's do whatever we can!" Mako-chan offers. "Because that's what we came to the future for."
"It's the only choice we have," I add softly.
"Yes!" The girls agree.
Mamo-chan looks at King Endymion. "King, please take care of Selene..no I mean, Little Hime, Little Wolf and Small Lady." Mamo-chan runs after us.
We rush outside to see the dragon banging into the barrier, breathing fire at the barrier before going back to banging into the barrier again.
"Oh! Seeing it up close like this, it's just as big as I thought!" Usagi comments scared.
"We'll lose if we're frightened, Sailor Moon!" Ami-chan scolds.
The dragon notices us and flies towards us. It flies past us and a gust of wind ends up to the ground, luckily Minako-chan holds on to Usagi and Mamo-chan holds on to me.
"But how should we fight it?!" Rei questions.
The dragon heads towards us again as Minako-chan stands up. "Well, we just have to take a chance! Venus Love-Me Chain!"
It hits the dragon and causes a wound on its side but a gust of energy is released and Minako-chan falls to the ground with a yell. "Venus!" We call out as we head towards her.
~~~3rd POV~~~
"Did she do it?!" Artemis questions as they watch the screen. The wound heals. "No good…"
"No, she clearly inflicted some damage!"
"Everyone, go for it!" The four cats encourage.
King Endymion leaves the room and heads to where the two Queen's lay. "Serenity, if you can hear me, please give those brave ones your strength."
Luna-P, who is burnt and scuffed up, rolls into the room. King Endymion abruptly turns around. His eyes widen. "Small Lady…"
~~~Selena's POV~~~
The dragon flies above us again as we all gaze up at the sky. "It's coming!" Mako-chan warns.
It heads towards us and brings down its tail, destroying the ground beneath it as we dodge out of the way. Usagi lands on her side. "Are you all right, Sailor Moon?" Mako-chan asks as she looks at her.
Usagi sits up. "Yeah…"
"Shoot!" Mako-chan curses. "Sparkling Wide Pressure!" She calls out.
The attack hits and the dragon freezes in place before it comes crashing to the ground creating a large cloud of smoke as it does.
"Did I do it?!" Mako-chan queries as she takes a step forward.
"Yay! That's our Jupiter!" Usagi cheers as she jumps in the air happily. Usagi runs over to where the dragon fell, still cheering. "She did it! She did it! She did it!"
"Wait, Sailor Moon. It's still dangerous! Come back!" I call out worriedly.
Usagi looks back and waves her hand in dismissal. "Oh, it's fine. Don't worry." The smoke disappears and the dragon is glaring down at Usagi. Usagi panics and turns around but she falls to the ground. The dragon moves closer to her. I rush forward, grab Usagi and jump back her to where the others are.
"Let's do it!" Rei orders.
"Okay!" Ami-chan agrees.
"Burning Mandala!" Rei calls out.
"Shine Aqua Illusion!" Ami-chan calls out.
Rei's attack hits the dragon's chest and Ami-chan's attack freezes its tail. The dragon lets out a roar. The ice shatters from around its tail before it opens its mouth and breaths fire back at Rei and Ami-chan. The pair of them dodge out of the way but land on the ground. "It's no use! There's no end to it!"
Ami-chan looks back at Rei. "Are we just not powerful enough to beat it?"
"Don't give up!" Mamo-chan encourages. "Remember what the King said! Ascertain its true form! And believe in the power of justice!"
"Ascertain its true form?" Ami-chan repeats.
"That dragon's true form is…" Mako-chan continues.
"A person's heart." Usagi finishes.
The dragon opens its mouth and releases fire towards us. "Watch out!" Mamo-chan calls out as he pushes the three of us out of the way. "Let's do it, Celestia! Sailor Moon!"
"Yes!" Usagi and I agree at the same time.
Mamo-chan jumps in the air and releases a rose. It embeds in the gem inside the crown. The gem shatters and energy surrounds the dragon causing it to let out a roar. Mamo-chan lands on the ground. "Now! Don't hesitate, Celesta! Sailor Moon!"
"Yes!" Usagi and I nod our heads.
We get out our moon rods. "Please, Moon Rod."
"Moon Princess Halation!" We both call out at the same time.
Our attack hits the dragon and it crumbles to dust. Esmeraude appears with the same crown.
"Esmeraude…" Usagi trials off.
Esmeraude's body disappears, leaving only the black crown behind. The crown begins to fall before that too disappears.
~~~3rd POV~~~
Esmeraude lets out a scream as she falls into a black void and disappears.
Elsewhere, Prince Demande has his eyes closed after taking a sip of his wine.
"Prince Demande…" Her voice mutters.
Prince Demande opens his eyes. "Esmeraude…"
In the base, Artemis is cheering. "They did it! They did it, Luna! Crescent! Yue!"
King Endymion walks in.
"King?" Luna questions.
He looks at Selene and Teddy and lets out a sigh of relief before looking back at the four cats. "Small Lady has disappeared. There is no sign of her anywhere in the Crystal Palace."
"What?!" The four cats exclaim as they share a look.
With Wiseman, he is still in the same place as before. "So, Esmeraude has fallen. Well, that is all right. My true objective is not the victory of Black Moon, the Dark Moon clan.
