When Leah returns, we go over most of what Jane and I have already discussed. She has the same questions Jane had for me, and after explaining my situation once again, she approves my application.

Then the fun begins.

It takes about an hour to get through the contract because they bring in a small team of lawyers to explain every minute detail with me before I sign. I promise to treat my employee fair and humanely during their time with my family and agree that, should things fall through, I'll still be paying for their services.

Papers are signed, and another person is brought in to make my donation schedule. I'm given a four-day window to come in and a card to scan at the front desk.

I visit the donation floor to give my down payment, and they have me fill out another questionnaire asking me if I prefer a human or vampire bleeder and which beverage I'd prefer while I sit for the thirty minute observation period.

The girls are still at school when I get home, so I put a roast in the crock pot and take advantage of the alone time. I'm still parked in front of the TV when they stumble through the door.

Alice is still giving me the silent treatment and takes a moment to glare at me before running up to her bedroom.

"She's in rare form today. Jasper got pulled for testing, so they didn't get to see each other." Angela sighs. "I'm just going to change, and then I have a shift at the tutoring center."

"Will you be home for dinner?"

She nods and points her nose in the air, inhaling deeply. "You're making my favorite for dinner. I can stop by the bakery for yeast rolls, if you want."

"Thanks, dollface."

The house is eerily quiet, so I hide out in my office, catching up on the work I missed when I took the day off. I scan the paperwork I brought home from V.C. so I can have it on hand and plan on locking the hard copy in my safe.

Just before I shut the door, something catches my eye.

Isabella Marie Swan.

It can't be a coincidence. I'm pretty sure I just hired the president's daughter to be my nanny.
