Previously on The Bad Twin:
I wish I didn't have to return home. But I had no choice. I had to save her and I had to find out more about her.
"Chloe. She's a dead ringer for Anna."
"Damon. What are you?" I repeated.
"Why would I tell you?" he asked me weakly.
"What are you?" Elena asked Stefan.
"I'm a vampire."
"I've been 17 years old since 1864." He told her and Elena looked at him shocked.
"I will keep your secret, but... I can't be with you, Stefan." She told him.
"5 bodies all drained of blood?" Sheriff Forbes confirmed.
"They've come back." Logan agreed.
"Hello, brother." Damon greeted, smirking.
"Damon." Stefan said, turning to the balcony.
Damon quickly put his hand over Vicki's mouth and bit her neck.
"You just don't wanna die, do you?"
He bit his wrist and put it to her mouth.
"What are you doing to her?" I demanded to know as she struggled against him.
"Vampire blood heals humans." He explained as he gave in to her.
"She's transitioning." Stefan explained.
"Transitioning to what?" Elena asked, afraid of the answer.
"A vampire." He told her.
"Death." And with that he snapped her neck.
"Vicki, what the hell?!" she pushed him to the ground and her faced changed.
I turned to see Stefan shoving a wooden stake through her body. We watched as she grayed before falling to the ground. Dead.
"Why does everybody have to die on me?" He asked and if my heart could have broken more then it would have.
"Can you make him forget?" Elena asked Stefan.
"I can do it." I turned to see Damon standing on the bottom step looking up at me. "What do you want him to know?" Damon asked.
"I want you to tell him that Vicki left town and she's not coming back. He's gonna miss her, but he knows it's for the best."
"I hate the fact that we are taking his choice to remember away from him, but I don't want him to suffer." I told him and Damon nodded before going inside his arm brushing my own slightly.
My sister and I didn't really get along. We had never really been close and while I shared death experience gave us something in common, it only drove us apart.
"Stay away from Chloe." Stefan told him.
"I'll take that as an invitation." Damon told him.
"Is there something going on between you and Damon that I need to know about?"
"I am no one's second choice." I backed away from him and walked away.
"You were right, you're no one's second choice." He kissed my cheek before smiling down at me. I smiled up at him lightly.
"First off don't thank me for saving you and nearly dying myself, or won't happen again. Second, even if there was something going on between me and Damon it's none of your business."
During the early hours of the morning, Stefan sat in the Salvatore Boarding House, asleep in the living room with a book resting in his lap. He woke up when the book fell from his lap to the floor. He bent over to pick it up when he heard a noise in the house.
"Damon?" Stefan called out but received no answer. He stood up and looked around at every noise. Suddenly, he was knocked over by a blonde vampire with her face vamped out. "Lexi!?" He asked with a large smile on his face.
"Hi." She said simply as her face returned to normal.
"What are you doing here?" He asked her as she helped him stand back up.
"How could you even ask that?" She asked as they shared a friendly hug.
"I missed you." He told her before they broke apart.
"Happy Birthday." She said with a smile.
Hours later the two friends were in Stefan's room laughing as he filled her in on the latest in Mystic Falls since he'd been back.
"Stop." She told him. "I don't know, some freak shot at me with wooden bullets. I bail in under sixty. And why is a news reporter hunting vampires?"
"I don't know who knows about us. That guy did. There could be others. Do me a favor, while you're here, please be careful." He asked her as she got off the bed.
"Why stay? I'm headed to New York for the weekend. Bon Jovi in the Garden. "Wanted dead or alive", it's our theme song. It'll be a blast." She said trying to talk him into leaving.
"Do you think he would actually remember us? That was a pretty crazy weekend huh?" Stefan asked her.
"We can make him remember us. Come on! Let's go. I mean, what's keeping you here?" She asked hwile turning and looking down at his desk.
"I told you, her name is Elena." Stefan said putting his shoes on.
"Let's hope she's better than the last girl you got all sprung over." she said holding up the photo of Katherine and Anna.
"You didn't even know Katherine." Stefan reminded her taking the picture.
"'Cause if I did I'd kick her ass. Little bitch. Speaking of... where's Damon?" Lexi asked her tone going angry.
"Inflicting misery somewhere. You gonna be okay here alone? 'Cause I got some things I gotta take care of." Stefan told her.
"It's not exactly like I can go anywhere. And you and Damon are the only ones with these nifty little daylight rings. I have a mood ring from '75! Trade ya?" she asked jokingly with a smile on her face.
"Doesn't work that way and you know it." He said sharing the smile.
"Yeah." She sighed.
"Hey Lex. I'm really glad that you came here." He told her.
"What are we doing for your birthday? It's not every day a guy turns a hundred and sixty-two years old." She said excitedly.
"Really?" Stefan groaned.
"Oh yeah." She said nodding.
At the police station, Sheriff Forbes was questing Elena, Stefan, Matt, Jeremy and I over Vicki's disappearance.
"Where did Vicki says she was going?" Sheriff asked us.
"She didn't." Jeremy told her.
"Did she tell her brother where she was going?" Sheriff asked him.
"No she didn't say anything to me. She told Jeremy to tell me that she was leaving town." Matt told her.
"Forbes: Is there anyone I can talk to that may know what happened to her prior to her leaving town?" Sheriff asked.
"Stefan Salvatore may know. He came by the house to see her but she wouldn't talk to him." Matt said.
"What was he doing there?" Sheriff Forbes asked him.
"I was trying to help her, I knew that Elena and Chloe was worried about her brother, he was dating Vicki and she had a drug problems, so I tried to help." Stefan told her.
"So you got involved because Elena and Chloe asked you to?" she asked him.
"I asked Stefan to help. I thought that, by helping Vicki, he was helping my brother." Elena said.
"What was her behavior like those last few days before she left?" the Sheriff asked.
"Up and down, very sketchy, like she was coming down from some major partying." Matt answered.
"Any signs of aggression or violence?" she asked.
"No. She seemed normal." I told her.
"None that I remember." Jeremy told her.
"No." Stefan answered.
"No." Elena answered.
"So you believe Vicki really has left town?" she asked us.
"Yes." Matt said.
"Yes." Stefan said.
"Yes." Elena said.
"Yes." I told her.
"I'll miss her but...I think it's for the best." Jeremy answered.
Stefan was waiting in front of the station for Elena when Matt exited the building and walked past him.
"I was trying to help her Matt. That's all." Stefan tried telling him but Matt just walked away from him as Jenna, Jeremy, Elena and I walked out.
"I'll meet you guys at the car." Elena told us.
"Ok." Jenna said walking away with us.
"You okay?" Stefan asked her.
"I don't think the Sheriff suspected anything. Jeremy had no memory at all. All he knew was what Damon made him know." Elena said.
"Thank you." He told her.
"I can't do this Stefan. Every time I look at Matt or Jeremy, all I think is that Vicki is never gonna come back. And they'll never know why. Around you people get hurt and people die. I can't I just... it's just too much..." Elena told him.
"Why don't we go somewhere and talk about it." Stefan offered her.
"No, Stefan you have to stay away from me." She told him before joining us at the car.
In Stefan's room Lexi was trying to sleep on his bed with Damon next to her without her knowing.
"Hmmm, Huh." Lexi turned and found Damon next to her.
"Boo." He whispered making her groan. "Hello Lexi. What an unexpected surprise."
"Unexpected surprise?" she asked him. "I think the wrong brother went back to high school."
"How long are you here for?" Damon asked her.
"Just for Stefan's B-Day." She answered.
"Oh, you mean you didn't come all this way to see me?" he asked her sarcastically.
"That's it Damon. After a century I finally realize death means nothing without you. Do me." She said sarcastically while running her finger under his chin.
"Why are you so mean to me?" he asked her even though he knew the answer.
"Uh, have you met you? You're not a nice person." She reminded him.
"Because I'm a vampire." He said.
"But you're only the bad parts." She told him.
"Teach me to be good." He told her leaning in. Lexi grabbed him firmly by the neck, choking him as she straddled him.
"I'm older and that means stronger." She reminded him.
"Sorry." He wheezed.
"Don't ruin my time with Stefan, 'cause I'll hurt you. And you know I can do it." She reminded him.
"Yeah." He agreed before he released him and left the room.
At Grams' house, Bonnie was packing her suitcase.
"You leavin'?" her Grams asked her.
"Dad doesn't like it when I stay here too much." Bonnie reminded her.
"Because he misses you or because he doesn't trust me. Your father's problem is he lacks imagination. He thinks I fill your head with my witchy juju." Grams said.
"He's right." Bonnie reminded her.
"He's always right, that's his other problem." Grams said smiling before noticing the crystal on the bed. "Uh-uh. You need to be wearing that."
"I gotta give it back to Caroline. It doesn't belong to me." Bonnie told her.
"Yes, it does. It was your ancestor's and now it's yours." Grams told her.
"Emily was your ancestor too, why don't you wear it?" Bonnie asked her.
"Because it didn't find me, it found you, protected you. A witch's talisman is a powerful tool, don't be givin' that back to anybody." Grams said clasping it around her neck.
"I just wish it was prettier." She said dropping it into her top.
At the Gilbert house, Elena was sitting on the couch playing with the fringes with a blanket when Jenna came and plopped down next to her.
"You're wallowing." Jenna told her.
"So are you." Elena pointed out.
"My wallow is legitimate. I was dumped." Jenna told her.
"Again?" I asked her sitting next to them in another chair.
"Logan's a jerk." Elena said giving me a look.
"You didn't get a brush-off e-mail say: "I'm leaving town. See ya."" Jenna told her.
"No, she did the dumping." I said. "She dumped a great guy because of something neither can control and you got dumped by a jerk. Shit happens."
"Wanna keep it down over there?" Jeremy called to us and we turned to him.
"Why? What are you doing?" Jenna asked him.
"Homework." He told us.
"Since when do you do homework?" Elena asked him.
"I gotta finish this. I'm way behind and I have a quiz tomorrow so..." Jeremy said causing us all to share a surprised glance.
"What do you think? Alien?" Elena asked.
"Some sort of replicant." Jenna offered.
"I'm going with drone." I said.
"He can hear you." Jeremy reminded us.
At sheriff's office, Sheriff Forbes was dealing with paper when she received a call.
"Yeah. Send him in." she said on the phone before hanging up. Damon walked into her office. "Mister Salvatore, come on in. Could you get the door for me?"
"Sure." He said closing the door.
"I understand from Mrs. Lockwood that your uncle is out the town." Sheriff Forbes said.
"Yes he is. But I spoke with Zach. He filled me in and asked if I could bring this to you." Damon said handing the box he was holding to her. She opened it and pulled a plant out of it.
"Vervain." She said.
"That's all we have at the moment, I hope it's enough." Damon told her sitting down.
"It's a small circle...Founding families, a few city officials." Sheriff Forbes told him.
"And your deputies, of course right? Are we any closer?" Damon asked her.
"I think our facts are wrong. We've always believed that vampires can only come out in the dark. What if that's changed?" she asked him.
"So is that even possible?" Damon asked.
"We've exhausted every other option. We have to consider the vampire may be walking around during the day. Right in front of us." She told him.
"Hm. So what's the next step?" Damon asked.
"We're now looking at anyone new to town, since the deaths began. Should turn up a suspect or two." She explained.
"And I, of course, will do anything I can to help." Damon told her with a smile.
At the Gilbert house, Bonnie walked into Elena's room to find her lying down in her bed.
"You up?" Bonnie asked her.
"No." Elena told her. Bonnie walked over and tried to pull the covers off her head. "No, no!"
"Why haven't you called me back?" Bonnie asked her.
"I'm sorry." Elena told her.
"Are you gonna stay in there forever?" Bonnie asked her and Elena thought about it for a moment.
"Yep." She answered.
"Move over." Bonnie told her with a smile. Elena did and she lied down next to her. "I'm officially worried. What's going on?"
"I'm tired of thinking ... of talking I..." Elena told her.
"Can I get a one-line version so I can at least pretend to be helpful?" Bonnie asked her.
"Stefan and I broke up." Elena told him.
"I'm so sorry. Are you okay? Right stupid question. I know I've been kind of MIA when you need me the most. I suck." Bonnie said.
"You wanna make it up to me. Get my mind off of it." Elena ordered.
"Just remember you asked for it." Bonnie told her. Bonnie got up and closed the window before grabbing one of Elena's pillows. She ripped it and emptied it of the feathers.
"Hey!" Elena cried out.
"Be patient." Bonnie told her.
"OK." Elena sighed.
"I need to swear you to secrecy." Bonnie told her.
"It's kind of a bad week for that kind of stuff." Elena told her.
"Swear, 'cause I'm not supposed to be showing you this." Bonnie told her.
"OK, I swear." Elena said.
"There's no windows open, right?" Bonnie asked her.
"Right." Elena answered.
"There's no fan. No air conditioning." Elena added.
"None. What are you doing?" Elena asked her confused.
"Grams just showed me this. You're gonna love it. You ready?" Bonnie asked her.
"Bonnie what's going on?" Elena asked her. Bonnie concentrated for a moment before levitating a feather in front of Elena. She put it down before levitating several more. Elena watched on with shock and amazement.
"It's true Elena. Everything my Grams told me. It's impossible and it's true. I'm a witch." Bonnie told her.
"I believe you." Elena told her.
On the street close to the square Caroline was walking when she came face to face with Damon.
"Look dungeon boy I'm done being your little slave girl. You seriously hurt me, and I will be damned if you think.." she started saying, but Damon used his compulsion on her. "Oh my god where have you been? It's really good to see you."
"Much better. You wanna throw a party here at the grill tonight." Damon told her.
"Oh, why don't you do it?" Caroline asked him.
"Because then Stefan and his BFF won't come. I need a lot of people. Big crowd. Invite everyone." Damon ordered.
"And why am I having this party?" Caroline asked.
"Because you're gonna help me solve this town's little vampire problem. And I want my crystal back." He told her.
"But Bonnie has it." Caroline told him.
"I know that. Get it from her." Damon ordered before leaving her alone.
I sat at the Mystic Grill when I saw Caroline up at the bar. She was talking to the owner with a large smile on her face. I sat down and ordered my food when she saw me.
"Chloe! Hey!" she said smiling widely at me.
"Caroline, hey." I said smiling at her. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm throwing a party and inviting everyone." She told me her smile getting wider, if possible.
"Why?" I asked her confused.
"No reason. Have you seen Bonnie, I have to talk to her." She told me. "She has something of mine."
"Not since Halloween. I heard she was staying with her grandmother all weekend." I told her. "Why? What's she have?" I asked her as the waitress brought me my food.
"My crystal Damon gave me." She told me.
"I thought you hated that thing." I said remembering how she complained about it.
"But then I saw it on Bonnie and I fell in love with it. Besides, it's the last thing Damon gave me." She said.
"Caroline. Stay away from Damon." I told her firmly.
"Why?" she asked us.
"He's bad news." I told her.
"That's why you've been making eyes at him ever since you saw him?" she asked me and I froze. "That's right, I noticed. If you wanted him so badly all you had to do was say something."
"I don't want him." I told her, but even I didn't believe me.
"That is such a lie Chloe Gilbert and you know it." She told me.
"So he's hot, so what that I noticed. Everyone's noticed." I reminded her.
"Whatever Chloe." She told me.
"Caroline, I'm serious. Stay away from him." I told her. She rolled her eyes and got up walking away from me.
At the Salvatore Boarding House, Lexi and Stefan were lounging around.
"So this Elena girl. She'll come around. I'm sure of it. Have you had sex yet?" Lexi asked him.
"No." Stefan answered.
"Sex always works. I mean you'll rock her world so hard with your vamp sex, she'll be yours forever." Lexi told him.
"Yeah, but see, this isn't about sex or... or compulsion or any of our other tricks. She has to want to be with me on her own terms." Stefan told her.
"Wow. That sounded all mature and grown-up." Lexi said and he smiled at her.
"I'm not getting any older." He reminded her. Lexi opened her suitcase and picked up a blood bag and took a sip.
"Want some?" Lexi asked him.
"No. Thank you." He denied.
"Relax I didn't kill anyone for it. This phlebotomist I went out with a few times, he's my supplier." She told him looking at his expression. "Oh don't judge, ok? Listen I tried the animal diet; lasted three weeks."
"It doesn't matter. Cause if I started again ... I just don't know if..." Stefan broke off.
"You could stop." She told him.
"Lexi, I'd never judge you." Stefan told her.
"I'm just jealous of your restraint. I have none. I delight in hedonism. Speaking of which, what are we doing tonight?" Lexi asked him when Damon entered the room.
"Funny you should ask." Damon said.
"Well I wasn't asking you." Lexi told him.
"There's a party at the grill. You'll love it. Banquettes, Tacky wait staff, All of Stefan's friends." Damon listed off.
"Yeah, I don't want a Birthday party." Stefan told him.
"Well, It's not for you. It's a party party. No one's gonna know it's your birthday. Caroline's throwing it." Damon said.
"Damon, stay away from Caroline." Stefan warned him.
"We're friends it's cool. It's important for the town to see us out and about like normal folk. We need to blend." Damon told his brother before looking at Lexi's stock of blood. "I prefer mine at 98.6." he said before leaving.
"Let's Go." Lexi begged him. "Please?" he sighed and nodded and she cheered.
"It's Weird huh?" Bonnie asked Elena still in her room, surrounded by feathers. "After all the times joking about being psychic. I really am a witch. You don't think I'm a freak now, do you?"
"No of course not. Bonnie I just ...don't understand though. If your Grams asked you to keep all this a secret, why did you tell me?" Elena asked her confused.
"You're my best friend. I can't keep secrets from you." Bonnie told her with a smile. Elena smiled back nervously.
Back at the Boarding House, Lexi was just getting out of the shower wrapped only in a towel
"I'm almost ready." She told Stefan.
"I can't believe you actually think that we should go to this thing." Stefan said to her.
"Sorry to asking you to run outside midday without your ring. I mean, seriously, it's a party." Lexi reminded him.
"A party that Damon wants us to go to. So my question is why? I think he's up to something." Stefan told her.
"Who cares? What can he possibly of all those people in a public place?" Lexi asked him.
"He knows how to keep a low profile. Believe me." Stefan reminded her.
"Okay so he'll behave. Come on. One day a year I get you, one day that you're not brooding and existing in your own head." Lexi told him.
"It's my birthday, yeah?" Stefan asked her with a smile.
"It's my day; and that guy that jump naked in the Trevi fountain; and got drunk on the torch of the statue of Liberty; that guy can take a break from all of his worrying for one night and go to a stupid party. So quit your whining and go get ready." She told him.
"Fine." He finally gave in going for the shower. Outside, Elena drove up to the Salvatore Boarding House before getting up and knocking on the door.
"It's open! Come on in." Lexi called out coming down still wrapped in her towel as Elena entered the house. "Oh My God! How...How...Who?"
"I'm Elena. Who are you?" Elena asked her shocked to see her.
"Lexi a friend of Stefan's."
"Is he here?" Elena asked her.
"He's in the shower." She said pointing upstairs. "Do you want to wait?"
"No." Elena answered.
"I'll tell him you stopped by." Lexi told her.
"That's okay." She said before leaving in shock. Lexi stormed up to Stefan's bedroom, furiously as her best friend came out of the shower.
"Are you out of your freaking mind?" Lexi asked him.
"What are you talking about?" Stefan asked her confused.
"I just met Elena!" she told him holding up the photo of Katherine and Anna. "You have some serious explaining to do." As Stefan explained about Elena and Chloe she dressed and started applying her make-up. "You have some serious emotional damage."
"No, it's not what you think. She's not Katherine." Stefan told her.
"Then they're related, 'cause they can be twins. Sorry quadruplets." Lexi told him.
"I don't know." Stefan told him.
"You don't know or you didn't find out?" she asked him.
"No. Maybe. I don't want to know. I have no desire to tie Elena to Katherine or Chloe to Anna." Stefan told her and she made a face. "Ok yes, yes the resemblance is what drew me in. But that's it. Katherine and Elena may look the same on the outside but on the inside they are completely different. Same can be said of Anna and Chloe."
"So Elena and Chloe are not a raging Bitch then, huh?" Lexi asked with a smile.
"No. Elena is... Elena's warm and she's... she's kind, and she's caring, and she's selfless, and it's real. And honestly when I'm around her, I... I completely forget what I am." Stefan told her.
"Oh My god! You're in love with her." Lexi finally realized.
"Yeah. Yeah, I am." Stefan said smiling hat her.
At the Mystic Grill, the party was in full swing with Caroline overlooking everything with a smile on her face until she found Damon at the bar.
"Amazing party right?" she asked him.
"Glad you thought of it." He said which made her think for a moment.
"Well, are you having a good time?" she asked him, hopeful.
"Do you have my crystal?" he asked her.
"No." she answered.
"Then I'm not having a good time." He told her before he saw Lexi enter the Grill. He left Caroline alone and walked over to her. "Where's my brother?"
"He said he'd meet me here." He told her.
"Buy you a—" he started to offer, but she didn't let him finish.
At the Gilbert residence, Elena opened the door to find Stefan on the porch.
"Hey." He greeted.
"What are you doing here?" she asked him.
"Lexi said that you came by and you seemed upset." He said.
"Right. The girl in the towel." She said remembering.
"The towel?...Oh no no no no not like that, she's not exactly a girl-Lexi's just 350 years old." He revealed to her.
"You mean she's a..." Elena started asking.
"And she's my oldest friend. Nothing romantic. Ever." He told her.
"Oh, okay, well...she kept staring at me. It was weird." Elena told him.
"Yeah well I've talk about you a lot so...I guess she felt like she knew why'd you come by?" Stefan asked her.
"I-uh... it was a mistake." She told him.
"... Elena talk to me." He begged her.
"I can't. Stefan I can't, and that's the problem. I'm keeping all these secrets from everyone. I can't even tell my best friend. Do you know how hard that is? It's like I need to talk to someone but the only person I can talk to is you ...and..." her words broke off but he knew what she was saying.
"I want you to know that I will always be here for you. You can come to me about anything okay?" he asked her.
"Well, thank you for coming by." Elena said before she started to close the door.
"Hey, do you need a ride to the grill tonight?" he asked her and she gave him a curious look.
"Are you going to Caroline's party?" she asked.
"Lexi's dragging me and... it's my birthday." He revealed to her.
"Really? Wow-um, happy birthday then." She said with a smile.
"Thank you." He said returning the smile.
"Actually I—I think I'm gonna stay in tonight." She told him.
"Well have a... have a good night." He said before leaving. She closed the door on him and turned to find me staring at her.
"Are you an idiot?" I asked her arms crossed over my white butterfly top with a thick brown belt buckled around my waist on top of it. I sported a brown necklace that looked to like there were wooden rings hanging where a pendent would have been I had on brown dangle earrings that had feathers on them and a thick brown bracelet. My dark jeans ended in light brown wedge heels.
"What are you talking about?" she asked me.
"You closed the door on the perfect guy because…?" I asked her.
"I can't be with him." She told me and I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, you can. The world isn't perfect, Elena. Do you really think another guy like him is just going to walk into your life and sweep you off your feet?" I asked her.
"He's a vampire." She said making sure neither Jenna nor Jeremy were listening.
"It's not like he can control that. God, Elena. Get off your high horse." I said before going past her for the door.
"Where are you going?" she asked me.
"The Grill." I said opening the door. "That okay with you mom?" I asked her before leaving.
At the Mystic Grill, people were hanging out and having fun when Caroline spotted Bonnie. Caroline made a beeline for her smiling.
"Bonnie I've been looking for you. I'm totally sorry to do this I know it's so Indian giver and I know we're not even supposed to say that anymore but I need my crystal back." Caroline told her.
"Why? You said you hated it." Bonnie reminded her using the same words Chloe had earlier.
"Then I saw it on you and I realize how great it is, and I've got three outfits I can coordinate it with so..." Caroline told her.
"I can't give it back to you." Bonnie told her.
"Well, I didn't want to tell you this but I'm your friend, when you wear it makes you look fat. There I said it, but it's because I'm your friend so..." Caroline said trying to get the necklace.
"I'm sorry Caroline, I can't." Bonnie told her again.
"What do you mean you can't? Bonnie it's mine." Caroline reminded her.
"I thought you said it was Damon's." Bonnie said giving her friend a curious look.
"It is." Caroline said.
"So he's the one who really wants it back." She told her.
"No maybe just..." Caroline tried to snatch the crystal off the Bonnie, but it shocked her like it did Damon. "Are you wearing polyester?" Caroline asked.
"You were really gonna pull it from my neck. What the hell is wrong with you?" Bonnie asked her walking away.
"Argh!" Caroline groaned at her failure.
Stefan and I entered the Grill as Matt and I walked past.
"Hey Matt." I greeted before leaving them.
"Matt, just hear me out please. I was just trying to help Vicki. I went through something similar once, I'm really sorry." Stefan apologized to the jock.
"Don't be. It's not the first time she's run off. Turns out Vicki's just like our mother; I can't count on either of them. Thanks for trying." Matt told him before walking off.
In another area of the Grill, Damon ran into Caroline again and gave her a brief once over.
"Where is it?" Damon asked her.
"Bonnie won't give it to me." Caroline told him.
"So rip it off her neck." Damon told her.
"I tried. It shocked me." Caroline told him.
"Damn it! Why does it do that? I need that crystal." Damon said to no one in particular.
"Why are you being like this? I'm so good to you and I'd do anything. It's just some stupid necklace." Caroline said trying to get him to focus on her.
"No, you are the only stupid thing here. And shallow. And useless." Damon told her angrily before walking away.
On the dance floor, Lexi was trying to dance with Stefan who was standing still.
"Okay, I'm gonna need a little more foot movement." She told him.
"Yeah, not really interested in making a fool out of myself." Stefan told her.
"Come on, you're not that bad." Lexi insisted.
"Do me a favor. Tell me if you see Damon with his camera phone." Stefan said starting to dance with her.
"Right." Lexi said. Damon saw them having fun and was about to leave the Grill when he saw Chloe talking with some friends. He walked up to them and looked her new friends in the eyes.
"You want to leave. Now." He compelled and they all left.
"Why did you do that?" I asked him.
"You were so out of their league it was embarrassing." He told me and I smiled, shaking my head.
"Then who is in my league?" I asked him.
"I am." He said smirking. I laughed lightly.
"I think I might just be out of yours too. You being a vampire and all." I said quietly.
"Dance with me and find out." He said offering me his hand. I gave him a look before taking his hand. He pulled me to the dance floor before pulling me close and dancing with me. "Still think you're out of my league?"
"I never thought I was out of your league." I told him smiling as we danced. When the song was over I pulled away from him but he pulled me back.
"What did you think?" he asked me.
"I've thought many things. You'll have to be more specific." I told him.
"When you thought I was out of your league." He said and I nodded.
"Whatever I thought, doesn't matter." I told him. "I have a feeling you want something else." I smiled at him before walking to the bar to get a drink. Damon stared after me as I walked away before quickly leaving the Grill. He heard a sound in the alley and followed to see a young couple.
"Where are we going?" the girl asked her boyfriend.
"No one's gonna see us..." he insisted. They started to make-out when Damon found them.
"Did you hear something?" she asked him looking around, but Damon wasn't there.
"No, it's cool. There's no one coming down here." He told her. Damon arrived and quickly fed from the boy. The girl started screaming before Damon dropped the boy and looked at the girl in the eye making her stop.
Stefan and Lexi were playing pool, just talking and having a good time.
"Woo!" he called out when he made a good move.
"Nice!" she said offering him a high five. Elena walked in at that moment and watched Stefan having a good time as I joined her. Damon surprised us by walking up behind us.
"Stefan smiles. Alert the media." Damon said making me smile.
"You haven't given him a lot of reasons to be happy lately." Elena reminded him and I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, you're right. Poor Stefan persecuted throughout eternity by his depraved brother; does it get tiring being so righteous?" Damon asked her.
"Its tiring listening to it." I said.
"It flares up in the presence of psychopaths." Elena told him looking at me.
"Ouch! Well, consider this psychopath's feelings get hurt." Damon told her.
"Make that too. Buy me a beer?" I asked him with a smile.
"Love to." He said going to the bar. When he came back he handed me a beer and I stared at him for a moment. "You're staring."
"What did you do to my brother?" I asked him.
"I'm gonna need a less vague question." He told me.
"When you did whatever you did to Jeremy's memory of Vicki, what else did you do to him?" I asked him.
"Elena asked me to take away his memory of fangs and all the bad stuff. You wanted me to take away his suffering." He told me.
"But he's acting different. He seems okay with everything. I mean he's studying; he's not doing drugs; he's not drinking. He's acting like he was before our parents died." I told him.
"Chloe, I took away the suffering for you." He told me before walking away. I smiled after him before moving along.
In another part of the Grill, Bonnie walk into Caroline and stopped her.
"Caroline." Bonnie said.
"Don't talk to me." Caroline told her.
"Don't do that, let me explain." Bonnie begged.
"What is there to explain Bonnie? You got what you wanted... and something that doesn't even belong to you by the way and, I get called a shallow, useless waste of space." Caroline said.
"Who said that to you?" Bonnie asked her.
"Who do you think?" Caroline asked.
"You know that not true. Don't let him treat you like that." Bonnie told her.
"As opposed to how my best friend treats me." Caroline said before walking away.
Outside of the Grill, an officer was patrolling in his car when he heard something in an alley.
"Help me." He went to investigate and he found the boy Damon had killed in a pool of blood.
Inside the Grill, Lexi was ordering at the bar.
"Two shots of tequila." Lexi told the bartender before looking to see Elena close by at a table. "Make that three."
"I need to see some ID." The barman told him.
"No you don't." she compelled.
"That'll be –" he started telling her before she compelled him some more.
"Free!" she told him.
"On the house." He told her and she smiled at him.
"Thanks!" she said leaving with the tequila and going to Elena.
"Oh! The famous Elena." Lexi said putting the tequila on the table.
"Towel girl." Elena said.
"I've been called worse. Here." Lexi said offering the tequila to Elena which she did.
"I didn't know that you guys could drink." Elena said.
"Oh yeah, it helps curb the cravings, but makes for a lot of lushy vamps." Lexi said making them both laugh as she took a shot.
"I've never seen Stefan drunk. He always seem so..." Elena struggled to find the right word.
"Uptight?" Lexi offered.
"Yeah, But not with you." She noted.
"Well that the benefit for knowing someone for over a hundred years. You can just be yourself." Lexi told her.
"Yeah he can't be himself with me." Elena said sadly.
"Well not yet." Lexi told her. "The first step was him telling you. The rest comes with time."
"You seem so sure." Elena said unsure.
"The love of my life was human. He went through, what I imagine you're going through: denial, anger, et cetera. But at the end of the day love really did conquer all." Lexi told her. "Are you going to drink that?" Lexi asked her indicating the shot.
"Go for it." Elena told her and she drank the shot. "I'm scared."
"But you're here." Lexi reminded her. "'Cause your crazy about him, I get it okay? I mean what's not to love." They both looked to Stefan. "Listen. Take it from someone who's been around a long time. When it's real, you can't walk away." Lexi told her before starting towards Stefan again.
"Hey Lexi." Lexi turned to her. "It was really nice meeting you." Elena called to her. Lexi smiled at her and drank the last shot making Elena laugh. Lexi returned to the pool table where Stefan was still playing.
"Yep, I drank yours, sorry." Lexi told him while Stefan smiled at her.
"Thank you." He said.
"You weren't supposed to be listening." She told him before looking at his face. "I was feeling epic, whatever."
Outside, Sheriff Forbes was talking to her officer who'd found the whimpering girl.
"Keep this contained." She ordered.
"That's not all." He told her showing her the frightened witness.
"Hey, hey. Did you see what did this?" Sheriff Forbes asked her and the girl nodded. "Tell me everything you saw."
In the Grill, Elena joined Stefan who was still by the pool table.
"Hi!" Elena said smiling.
"Hey, you came." Stefan said smiling at her.
"I couldn't miss your hundredth and... whatever birthday." She said returning the smile. Elsewhere, Caroline stumbled into the table where Matt was talking to a friend.
"Oh hey!" he said to her.
"I slim-I'm slipped. I slipped." She stammered.
"Hammered, huh?" he asked her smiling.
"Well ... a very nice but not handsome bartender was very kind to me tonight. Unlike the rest of the global universe. Are those curly fries?" Caroline asked him.
"Coffee for the drunk girl." Matt told his friend who went for coffee for Caroline. "Bad night huh?"
"Baddest. Am I shallow?" she asked him.
"Is that a trick question?" he asked her.
"I don't mean to be. I wanna be deep. I wanna be, like... the abyss deep." She told him.
"No offense, Care, but deep's really not your scene." Matt told her.
"That's true. I'm shallow, I am worst than shallow, I'm a kiddie pool!" Caroline nearly shouted.
"You're not a kiddie pool. You're not a kiddie pool." He told her.
"Can I just go home okay?" she asked him.
"I'll take you come on. You're okay." He helped her up before picking her up in his arms. "She's still alright; Hold still, Hold still." He walked outside to see Sheriff Forbes and her deputies surrounding the Grill.
"What happened is she okay?" Sheriff Forbes asked him.
"Like you care." Caroline told her.
"She's drunk?" the Sherriff asked Matt.
"As a skunk." Caroline told her.
"Are they serving you in there?" Sheriff Forbes asked Matt angrily.
"I'll take her home. It's on my way. I haven't been drinking." Matt told her.
"I would appreciate that, Matt, thank you." Sheriff Forbes told him before turning to her daughter. "You and I will discuss this later."
"Can't wait." She said before Matt carried her off.
"Don't let anybody else leave." Sheriff Forbes ordered her deputies.
Inside by the bar, Lexi walked up to Damon with drinks in her hands.
"All right, the shots are a bribe. I need you to answer a question. What are you really doing in Mystic Falls?" Lexi asked him.
"Have you tried The Brittle. It wins award." Damon told her.
"Cut the crap." Lexi told him.
"Okay, I have a diabolical master plan." Damon told her.
"What is it?" Lexi asked him.
"If I told you it wouldn't be very diabolical, now would it?" he asked her.
Sheriff Forbes walked in with the girl and stood by the door.
"Look around let me know if you see anything." She told the girl. The girl pointed to the bar where Damon and Lexi were sitting. Sheriff Forbes escorted her out and pulled in two deputies before walking over and injecting Lexi with vervain.
"What are you doing?!" Damon asked her quietly shocked.
"Thank you for the vervain; now if you'll excuse me." Sheriff Forbes said as her deputies grabbed Lexi and started to escort her out of the Grill. At the pool table Stefan looked up to see what was happening.
"Oh my god!" Stefan said.
"What is it?" Elena asked following him as he tried to leave the Grill catching my attention.
"Excuse me, sorry." Stefan said to the officer standing in front of the door.
"Can't go out this way." the Officer told him.
"What's going on?" I asked him as I followed him out.
Outside, the officers and Sheriff were taking Lexi to the police car when she threw the officers off. Sheriff Forbes shot her with wooden bullets, but Lexi was too strong. Lexi smiled and kept going towards her, smile on her face, when out of nowhere, Damon appeared and staked her. Stefan, Elena and I saw and he pulled Elena and I out of sight from the scene.
"Oh my god!" Stefan said in shock.
"Why?" Lexi asked Damon quietly.
"It's part of the plan." Damon whispered to her. He let Lexi fall to the ground, dead, before turning to the Sheriff. "You okay?"
"Thank you." Sheriff Forbes nodded. "Get her in the car quickly."
"All right." Damon agreed.
Inside the Grill, Sheriff Forbes arrested the barman and took him to the police car.
"Lady, I checked everyone's IDs." The barman told her.
"Yeah, apparently you didn't." she told him when she saw Damon inside. "Pretty handy with that stake."
"It Just ...reflex. I guess the adrenaline kicked in." Damon told her.
"This nightmare is finally over." She sighed.
"Yeah call a lucky break with that witness, without her you wouldn't have been able to ID the vampire." Damon agreed.
"We're lucky. Well thank you again." She said.
"You're welcome." He told her before she walked away.
In Caroline bedroom, Matt laid her down on her bed gently.
"You gonna be okay?" Matt asked her.
"No. Do you ever feel like there's not a person in the world that loves you?" Caroline asked her.
"Life can be a little rough." He told her.
"I just wish..." she started saying.
"What?" Matt asked her.
"Wish that life was... different." Caroline said.
"Yeah me too." He told her turning to leave.
"Please ...don't leave me alone." She begged him. Matt hesitated before awkwardly climbing onto the bed next to her.
Outside the grill, Stefan was walking away in anger and horror at what he saw.
"Stefan! Stefan!" Elena called to him as we followed him.
"He killed her! He killed Zach; he killed Tanner; he turned Vicki; I have to kill him!" Stefan told us.
"No, you can't do that!" I told him.
"Why are you trying to save him?! He's never gonna change! Don't you see that?! He's never gonna change!" Stefan shouted at us.
"We're not trying to save him, we're trying to save you!" Elena told him. "You have no idea what this will do to you, please Stefan."
"Everywhere I've been, pain and death follow; Damon follows me. No more." Stefan told us.
"Stefan please. Please just-just talk to me; Let me be here for you. Talk to me." Elena begged him.
"No. You were right to stay away from me." He told her leaving.
"If you kill him you won't come back from his." I told him.
At the Salvatore Boarding House Stefan arrived and found Damon there drinking.
"Told you I'd take care of it." Damon told him. Stefan ran and attacked him. The two of the fought until Stefan pinned him to the wall. "Come on, I did this for you. To get them off our trail."
"You never do anything for anyone but yourself." Stefan said before staking Damon. Damon grunted in pain before looking down to see the stake in his chest, but not his heart.
"You missed!" Damon said shocked.
"No. You saved my life. I'm sparing yours. We're even. And now we're done." Stefan told him before leaving his brother to fall to the ground.
Bonnie was running though the woods before stopping by some old ruins of a church. She turned around and coming face-to-face with her ancestor, Emily.
"It's coming." Emily told her.
Bonnie woke up gasping in the woods near to the old church ruins.
