Hello Again, I'm happy to announce the winner of the tournament is, pause for effect, dodogama! Dodo will appear in a later chapter of this story and those who voted for others, fear not because dodo won round 1. There are 3 rounds in total so for those who want gore or nergi, there's still a chance to get them into the story, there are 2 rounds left, so chose the monster for round 2. Before we start I would like to say that the story also takes place during the monster hunter rise story line so you would most likely know who the main villain is. The reason I was dying to write this is because I like the idea of dragon riders meeting monster hunters and the riders mistake hunters for a new enemy. but there aren't much fanfics about httyd and mh crossovers so I decided that if the increase of fanfics won't happen then I'll make it happen, and why not use the latest installment of the mh series for this fanfic, monster hunter rise? I have reasons why I'm using this new mh game for this story: it's one of my favourite games to date, it's one of the best reviewed recently released RPGs and it's enjoyable. Anyway, without further ado, enjoy. PS: sorry for not updating for so long, I got the new mh stories 2 and playing it really distracted me, I just really wanted a nergigante monstie.

Chapter 3: explanation

Hiccup was sketchy about Jack and Rakuja as he knew these guys were dragon hunters but he wanted to know who they work for and see if these are a new group of enemies. rakuja cleared his throat and spoke.

"we hunt multiple monsters like the bazleguese that attacked you but rampage, we were tasked to hunt a highly aggressive almudron by elder fugan, the chief of our village" and soot gremlin nodded and done something the Vikings and dragons didn't expect, she talked, yes soot is a she because of her female voice.

"yes but me and my canine friend noticed that our meowster was missing, we didn't know where he ran off to until we heard him yell 'in coming' and when we arrived we saw him fighting a bazelguese, after we drove off that monster, well you know the rest." She said calmly.

The Vikings didn't know what meowster means but realised she must mean master but meowed instead of saying 'ma' in master. Astrid was glaring at the hunters, she confirmed her suspicion by hearing rakuja saying 'we hunt multiple monsters like the bazleguese' so she now knows that they hunt multiple dragons and called them 'monsters'.

"So you ARE dragon hunters, hiccup, these guys are dangerous" she said to hiccup.

"I know Astrid but I don't like the sound of 'the rampage'." The haddock boy replied before turning to the hunters.

"Why do you hunt dragons? They are amazing and majestic creatures." He said and Jack sighed at what Hiccup said.

"Yes, monsters are interesting and I feel bad for hunting them but we have to protect the natural order somehow" the green-haired hunter replied, causing the riders to have confused expressions.

"What exactly do you mean by 'protect the natural order'?" Astrid asked

"You guys aren't from around here, are you?" Jack asked and was replied with a nod.

"Well, out here it's kill or be killed in environments like these. There are villages near places like this one and sometimes they get attacked by monsters so we hunt them to defend the villages, and it's usually the most powerful monsters that are powerful enough to destroy the environments they live in." He said while the riders were hearing every word, even the twins were paying attention.

"They can destroy the environment they live in? Why would a dragon destroy its own home?" Fishlegs asked the hunter.

"Well, one of them is called a 'teostra', also known as the 'ruler of the flame'. It's an elder dragon that can create clouds of dust from its mane and it can ignite it to create explosions so powerful, it can destroy a whole town. Its behaviour is the reason why the hunters guild pay so close attention to it and write down anything new from this beast as soon as possible. The more skilled hunters are sent to kill it to prevent unnecessary human or animal death." The hunter replied. It was silent for a moment, the hunters that the riders were used to only cared about power or money but these guys are more like protectors of both nature and people. It reminds them about what berk used to be before the fall of the red death, the reason why dragons raided berk since the Vikings first sailed to their island because the red death would eat them if they didn't bring enough food. Killing it ended up making peace between dragons and humans. A life lost for many to thrive.

"We understand that, it explains why you don't like dragons and why you saved me from that bazelguese. we're so sorry for the hostel introduction, I'm hiccup haddock the third, the blonde woman beside me is Astrid, the one on the red dragon is snotlout, the ones on the 2 headed dragon are the twins, ruffnut and tuffnut and the blonde boy is fishlegs." Hiccup said to the hunters as something came to fishlegs' mind.

"what's the rampage?" the pudgy ingermen asked and rakuja sighed and took off his helmet to reveal he had raven dark hair in a ponytail, had a small beard and his right eye was scared and only had white while the left was yellow.

"You might want to see Fugan for the answer because he knows more about it then we do." The blue armoured hunter replied.

"alright, we'll head to your village then" hiccup said

"I'll come with you, they might attack your monsters to protect the village" Jack said, the haddock boy gave the hunter a look of disgust.

"Okay, we really need to discuss the terms of the 'dragons are monsters' thing," he said.

"hiccup, are you sure about this, I mean they're dragon hunters, they can't be trusted, sure they said they kill to protect but what if they're lying." Astrid whispered to hiccup's ear, he let out a sigh and turned to Astrid.

"I know Astrid but we need to know if this kamura village is home to a new threat or not, we'll see when we get there" hiccup informed his girlfriend before looking around the rock pillar for his artificial leg but couldn't find it anywhere.

"Guys, have you seen my fake leg anywhere? it fell off while I was attacked by the bazleguese." The haddock boy asked the other Vikings before they shook their heads and Jack had a suspicion of where it might be.

"I was wondering how you lost your leg but I think I know what happened to the fake one. Is your fake leg made of metal?" the hunter asked and hiccup replied with a "yes".

"Then it was most likely stolen by a melynx, those little bastards will steal anything valuable, even metal, it must have snag the metal leg during the attack." he said before hiccup groaned

"great, there goes another fake leg, at least I have a spare" hiccup said as he pulled another fake leg out of a pouch on toothless' saddle

"and as for how I lost my leg, my real leg, I lost it during an explosion a few years back" he continued as he putted it back on

"ooh, sorry" the hunter said. Later everyone was on the dragon, jack was sketchy of riding a dragon but done it anyway but rakuja stayed behind to deal with the almudron and he promised hiccup he wouldn't kill it, just capture it and send it to a swamp or something far away from any human settlements and release it, hiccup was nervous about rakuja capturing it too but if he's releasing it in a sensible home then it's probably fine. When the group were in the air soot had her paws out to catch the wind on stormfly with Astrid and penny opened her mouth and let air into her mouth (like a dog would with a moving car) on hookfang with snotlout while jack was breathing the fresh air and was amazed by the scenery on toothless with hiccup, meanwhile back to earth was a small black and white cat with a pouch on its back as well as a weapon that looks like a paw and a bandanna on its face, this was a melynx but not just any melynx, it's the one who stole hiccup's fake leg. The melynx in question stopped running and reached to its pouch and pulled out the metal leg it snagged undetected by the humans and dragons, it took ten second for the thief to observe its treasure until a trident like tail was smashed right in front of the melynx as the said melynx dropped the leg and ran off, leaving the item behind. The tail was lifted from the earth as the tail folded to a form resembling a spear head. The owner of this tail was the purple tiger that hiccup saw. It watched the thief run away before turning its attention to the leg and sniffed it, after a few whiffs of the metal leg it turned its head to the dragon riders in the sky (more specifically, hiccup and toothless as well as the hunter on the night fury's back). It let out a deep growl as it watched the humans and dragons getting further and further away before purple flames began to ignite from the jaw, back, front legs and tail before suddenly snatching the leg with its jaws and running to where the riders were going.

There you have it ladies and hunters, magnamalo, the wyvern of malice. Man, it's been a while since I updated the story. I would like to say thank you to those who faved and follow this fanfic. I would also like to say that monster hunter is getting an anime on Netflix, yeah, cool right? Anyway the tournament is still up and since dodo won the first round, The contenders for the second round are the same from the second chapter: gore magala, nergigante, seregios, astalos, brachydios, lagiacrus and odogaron.
